Basically if Monsters Inc. was a bit more realistic
Yh and gruesome asf
Nah, this is basically Monsters Inc. but rated M for Mature, Monsters Inc. was great in its own right, they did great with story telling and universe setting, loved it when I was a kid. Each are "realistic" in their own right.
Monster Inc. is about Monsters scaring people for power. A realistic version would be RIPD or Constintine
This also the realistic version of scooby doo. College students with van just no dog alternate to a man
It’s more like the scp foundation in my opinion
Engineer one "how can we make this facility more one dimensional and stereotypical, a self destruct button?"
Engineer two " how about a release all the monsters button!"
Foreshadowing
@Tutter you must have not seen the ending then
Yup and also why would they add the release all monsters button. That was a stupid idea.
What amazes me is the fact that this is the only horror film where *everyone* actually dies.
And by everyone, I mean *everyone* , as in the entire population of the planet earth.
Darkness (2002 film)
I was really young when I saw this film, but I think everyone died.
@@purplespeckledappleeater8738 Oh yeah, oddly another Paquin film. I liked it but can''t quite remember either if the world was destroyed or plunged into darkness/hell. It was more of a satanic ritual I think so was maybe hell but yeah definitely a dark ending. (and yes, I tried to stop the pun but couldn't help myself.)
It is under a class of films called cosmic horror.
No it's not
lol brah you going wild :D
I remember watching this without knowing anything about it. I thought it would just be another generic slasher movie. I was so awesomely surprised!!!
That is the most tragic thing I've read in a minute.
Same
I agree.
I've watched it multiple times over the years, and it never gets old, because the story is brilliant and very well written.
Especially for those who truly understand the meaning behind it.
“I’m drawin a line in the sand here, do not read the Latin”
Said the smartest person in a horror movie maybe ever.
if you are in a eerie or sinister place and you find anything written in a dead language you should instantly be looking for a lighter or a matchbox and then you should burn the place down aswell for good measure

The unicorn stabbing the guy was the best part, the music changed all magical and sparkly
Legends of Tomorrow taught me all I need to know about why Unicorns are evil and not to be trusted.
I would love a part two of this movie, or a version from the view points of the other teams. The Japanese team would be cool, but yeah.
Yes would be nice
Or a prequel maybe
I wanna see a spinoff
Kind of hard because the world ended. Maybe a prequel.
Could be funny to see the after math series spin offs ' tales from after the old one's rise ' something like shaun of dead meets cabin woods fables .
Or a prequel showing things before the agreement that gives birth to the organization .
🎃🍻
That would be splendid.
A highly underrated film. Wish their was a follow up or prequel to this one.
A prequel would be good.
The best follow up might just be superheroes or demigods coming in and saving the world. To go along with the trend of the horror monsters getting beaten.
I agree a prequel would be the way to go, not a sequel due to the ending of the film.
@@chaos4654 yeah that sounds nice.

Time to active SCP-2000
They do show a bird smacking into the force field at the start. Anyone paying attention would likely have guessed the bloke would splat against it.
Missed that reference. That forcefield is in many movies so it is interesting to see it in a horror movie.
I think it's a great way of the movie having its' cake and getting to eat it too- those who remember the forcefield will have the feeling of dread knowing the attempt isn't going to work and those who've forgotten will be surprised by it.
First time I saw this movie, i missed the bird scene, witch actually surprised me even more when Thor try to jump, I think that the bird scene destroy the surprise
@@raphaelmazaangoso5962 Without the bird scene, people would have complained about bad writing adding in random shit to suit the plot.
@@rasmusazu fair point but I think the invisible wall is actually pretty randon in the first place, but still like it anyway
When you're going to the area 51 raid but you and the gang accidentally take the secret forest shortcut
Or when you want to raid area 51 but end up in the SCP facility
This entire movie is a colossal easter egg. XD
If my memory is correct, one of the writers wrote an SCP and this movie is is the closest big budget SCP movie we are going to get
scp 173 is in the movie

This movie needs a good sequel or prequel. Unlike other horror films , this has potential for atleast 3 films.
I agree but I also think that Hollywood is too good at fucking up a sure thing and would undoubtedly make a terrible sequel to such a great movie. They would almost definitely have to be a prequel seeing as the movie ends with the end of the world. It would be cool to see a prequel set with the protagonists being members of the shadowy organization.
Doubt they could seeing as how humanity was killed by the gods at the end.
@@Ark694 Well they put "prequel" in their comment so...
@@revenge3265 didn't even notice that, actually a prequel would be a great idea!
@@Ark694 The prequel would be set in the 80s. It's the same American horror tropes played out, but this time when the studious virgin survives, and despite finding out the truth, decides to perform the sacrifice. The higher ups are impressed and offer her a job. That studious virgin is Sigourney Weaver's character.
Never a good idea to read the Latin

Also, in that shot with all the monsters, I'm pretty sure you can even spot Cujo
Where
Maybe not Cujo but there are 2 rabid dogs(German Shepherds by the looks of it) just above the box Dana and Marty were in.
The whiteboard says "Ronald the intern" with an arrow pointing from the line above.
However, the way the shot is paused at 11:26 it looks like the word Corona.
They should do a “prequel” anthology series where they detail other “close calls” and then leave little hints to each of this movies’ arch-types like having each of their families be the descendent of one of the Virgin’s who survived (and this gives you a reason to make some of them “period” movies - like a Wild Wild West style steam-punk one and a WWI/II , Crusades, Rome/Egyptian style ones etc.)
The cubic cells holding the mosters and moving around surely is a reference to Cube from 1997?
That or 13 Ghosts.
I love how even though the L4D crossover map got scrapped they still kept the infected in the movie
Man when I heard about that game tie in I was so excited
I remember someone asked the director if there would be a sequel, he said "you didn't see the end of the movie, did you?"
I also remember wondering if the Engineers were the other side of Hunters or Watchers from Buffy and/or Supernatural: what if all those creatures were subdued by some hero, and then used by a group affiliated with them for the Ritual?
Actually, the engineers are more like the dog in the Silent Hill 2 dog ending.
Happy Halloween, Nyat! This is a fun movie loaded with Easter Eggs.
Also RIP Sean Connery, 1930-2020.😔

@@filmcomicsexplained happy halloween! Could you Please do videos about bloodborne and it's lore?!!
Loved this movie. Wish they filmed it like two dozens times. Each time picking different items.
That was a bad idea to have a purge button that opens all of the monster's cell doors.
Wonder why they would have it for that purpose?
What would be so horrible to release all monsters?

I loved this movie >< my notifications actually went off for this one!
I popped this in one day like: "Why are we following a day in the life of these power plant workers? I thought this was a scary movie!?"
Movie took me COMPLETELY by surprise!!
I have seen this movie a number of times now. When I first watched it, I didn't know what to expect. Was intrigue when I saw that they have people controlling the monsters. This is one of the best horror flick/horror genre spoofs ever made in my opinion.
the ending is a true gem.... the world successfully failed so everyone is doomed... brilliant ending 🤗
Like Raiden's ending in Mortal Kombat 1.
I can't NOT see that Markus from Detroit: Become Human is with them when I watch this.
Bro this was an amazing video. I love these types of detailed videos thanks for the hard work man
I always thought it was a missed opportunity not having the director get killed by a xenomorph but I guess Joss thought it would have been to trite.
Only slightly related to what you said, but I love the design of the alien. You only barely see it during the purge sequence, but they got the blend just right between a clear homage to the Xenomorph, and a design that was cool on its own merits
@@laylaruan i didnt even notice that until now years later lol
I'm just glad that the engineer who wanted the merman got killed by the merman
Another great video Niyat!
11:33 "FEAR ME MORTALS, FOR I AM THE KEVIN!"
Meh. If what some thinks is true (I want to say it was confirmed but not 100%), it's referencing Kevin from Sin City, and tbh, I think he would've got the job done.
Yeah, back when i first watched this movie I was totally blown away by it's brilliance...💁🏻 It's definitely very clever...💯✔
It's so good!
I heartily recommend watching the DVD commentary for this movie. It's hilarious. Especially the part about Franz Krantz not taking his shirt off for the swimming scene.
This movie deserves a sequel, in fact I can see a whole series of movies each with a different scenario like the Merman. They don't need to be at the same Cabin in the same woods obviously, location can make a significant difference.
Happy Halloween everyone!!!!
No matter what your doing have a safe one out there tonight
Happy Halloween Garrett!
Thank you for the explanation, and make me more love this movie, i love this movie that make me imagine every horror movie is real, and all of them is part of big ritual to keep the ancient one locked.
Amazing video as always :) thank you sir
At the end of the movie Dana told Marty that she didn’t even think Kurt has a cousin so why did Kurt lie about that And ended up finding a random cabin in the woods ?
One of my favourite films thanks for doing this video!
I literally watched this movie yesterday and wondered if you had covered it in a video yet.
I absolutely love this movie, thank you so very much for covering this movie Sir.
I was blown away by how good of an AD&D Adventure this would make! Way back to 1st Edition! The invisible wall was previewed during the beginning when the bird flew into it -- 9:39 But I did not make the connection between the two events until after the movie was over.
Its still nice to watch these kind of vids even if you dont feel like you need it explained.
This is the movie that let me know that unicorns are actually evil, go figure.🦄🦄🦄🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️
Everyone who's ever played Monster Hunter knows that intimately…
F***ing Kirin…!
Unicorns, pah! Over-rated pit ponies!
It was done in the book THE ORCHARD many years ago.
I learned it after watching Legends of Tomorrow.
That thing definitely deserved to be sealed away by Constantine.
This is my absolute favorite movie to watch i can watch it over and over again and never get bored 😊😊😊
There’s so much potential in this franchise yet I feel like one movie is enough.
You need to do videos on westworld and buffy/angel shows respectfully. Love your stuff so much!! Always excellent!! 100%!!👍🏻🙏🏻💖🍻🍻🍻
I think about this movie more times than I should for some reason. I think I just really liked the idea of a secret organization caging these seemingly invincible monsters
The Old Ones probably loaned them a little magic to help bind the monsters, and forgot to tell them not to put a garage door opener on it.
It’s funny you made a mention to silent hill and showed the little girl, and ironically the actress that played the girl is also in this movie, as Patience Buckner.
Never watched it, and after watching this I feel I missed out on something awesome, definitely going to give this a watch.
As a Latinist, I must say with some confidence, if you find a creepy book. DON'T READ THE LATIN!
Went into the the theater watching this without knowing anything about it. One of the few times I had a unexpected and enjoyable surprise
This film was such a pleasant surprise for me. I deliberately find out as little as possible about things such as games or movies, just enough to perk my interest. This lets me find out what they really are as I experience them. All I knew about this movie was that it was horror and people I knew liked it.
First its wtf, then stereotypical, then it starts subverting common tropes, then starts subverting itself and by the end I am just there thinking "bravo, bravo".
I thought Marty was kinda immune not only because of the weed but also because he didn't smoked the stash the control room laced with the "dumbing down" chemicals?
The sheer irony of this is that my dad thought it was a serious horror movie and hated it but I saw it for what it was and loved it
I LOOOOOOOVE this film. Thanks for the video.
XK End of the World Scenario: The Movie
I don’t go to the theaters often but I watched this in theaters. Super good movie
love that holy background music in the background
Love that he came out with this video, right before I watched it. 😂👌
Im glad i got to see it in theaters. It was awesome and still one of if not the my favourite horror movie of all time
Well, if I was at a cabin and realized there was a creepy downstairs basement, I would totally check it out. And I think MANY people would. Have to disagree with that part. But only if I knew I could do it safely- as my only concern would be either animals or people living down there.
I love this movie. Great concept
I can't wait to watch this one. I loved Cabin in the Woods
I must be going crazy because I swear I have watched this video before
No, he's done a video on this movie before
He has a video that talks mostly about "The Ancient Ones" from this same movie.
Okay we have fbi here
I swear I watched it a week ago..
Also, I have seen that from other creators. I knew everything that was going to be said in the video, yet the creator was like no I never released it until now.
I always wondered why Marty didn't allow himself to be killed at the end, or why she didn't just kill him, given that Marty was going to die either way... At least this way, the world (jules included) doesn't die w/him &his death would be less terrifyingly painful!
Because they decided to go against fate to stop appeasing the Ancient Ones and have more people purposely killed for entertainment to some gods
@@c.galindo9639 if the motivation really is to stop future sacrifices, that's a really dumb motivation because in stopping those same sacrifices from taking place in the future, the world ends and everybody dies now. Sure, they've stopped those future sacrifices from taking place, but so did all life also end
@@floricel_112 well they were never meant to be heroes. Just selfish people not wanting to die and they deserved to die either way, which they did in the end
This whole movie is like a real world adaption of Scooby-Doo. All characters fit, only Scooby-Doo is missing. Also the reveal, that there is always an artificial-human explanation for the horror stuff is completely copied from Scooby-Doo
I enjoyed the Hell out of this movie.
This little breakdown was nicely done.
This is literally the closest thing we’ve ever gotten to the SCP Foundation and I love this film for it.
I love Marty's coffee mug bong

Lol I just watched this movie and I come back to this channel to find new movies to watch and this gets posted
It would be interesting to see how the giant woman worked. What would be her motivation to kill, how does she show up, etc...?
Ohh I caught this one pretty early. Thanks FilmComicsExplained.
I love this movie and other horror films that like to screw with expectations. Thankfully Cabin in the Woods seemed to be a call for more films to not go the way we expected, especially the more recent works by Leigh Whannell such as Upgrade and The Invisible Man. Both of those movies do not end as you would expect them and they are greater for it. Also even though it came out before Cabin in the Woods I adore "You're Next" for looking like it'd be a dumb home invasion slasher which instead takes a sharp turn into having the best final girl ever.
The script writer: ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!!!!!!
I watched this when I was just a little boy with my parents, I was so scared about it but I couldn't stop watching
This should be considered as the first - and only - high budget movie about the Scp Foundation.

I waited to see this movie for so long and when I finally watched it I felt horrible for waiting so long to watch
