Not putting cage in the trailers is a level of restraint I can only applaud.
I hate watching trailers. I hate that 95% of the time they spoil the best action, best drama, best joke, best dialogue, best scare moments so that a trailer gets "hype."
If I know 75% I will watch a film I avoid the trailer like the plague.

It’s important to remember that, depending on the size of the movie and the production, trailers are usually made by an editing company that is not connected to the actual film. The larger the film studio, the less likely it is that the director had much input in the trailers at all, and the film editors almost never have any role in the trailer process at all.
The trailer makers don’t get paid by any metrics of the film. They are either getting a flat fee, are hourly, or are in a partnership with a certain studio. So they are wholly incentivized to deliver exactly what the studio wants and nothing else!

No one has pointed out what seems to me the obvious inspiration of The Exorcist III, another gem of 90s horror. Those scenes of the mother delivering the dolls while dressed as a nun took me straight to the scenes in The Exorxist 3 when the old lady dressed as a nurse heads over to the detective’s house to kill his daughter with those bone cutters. This may have more to do with my mild obsession with The Exorcist III than anything else.

Some may not find it scary compared to Longlegs (they nailed the creepy atmosphere), but what makes Cure terrifying is the horror committed in broad daylight. It became one of my favorite crime/horror movies ever since I saw it. Highly recommended!

I agree the overexplaining at the end wasn't ideal. I think if they were trying to show Lee's memories returning, her blacking out was a perfect opportunity to go back to her perspective like at the start of the movie and show rather than tell - show the conversation between longlegs and her mother, maybe with some voiceover from the mother as if she's whispering to her in her slumber or something. As for Lee not telling her boss about the letter she got, it was pretty explicit that longlegs was threatening her mother's life and she has no reason to doubt he's capable of it. It's also possible the doll influenced her.

I liked the film, watched it twice at a drive in recently. The investigation turning darker and finally getting to see nick cage only for him to kill himself but his influence lingers. I liked the idea for the dolls seeing as it uses the idea of "The Kings Pact", the rule that says that the devil cant directly influence man and so he corrupts indirectly, preying on the weak. I'm not sure about this, but I think Longlegs would breathe Satan's essence into the doll to prime it. There's a scene where he almost looks like he's kissing the doll but is more like just breathing on it. As far as the devil, I believe Dale had a hard time as a wannabe rocker in the 70's, tried and failed with cheap plastic surgery, so made a deal with the devil for fame (which he totally got).

The dark blood pool and splatter in the photos center looks like it was applied to the photo after it was developed and not originally in the crime scene photo. notice how dark it is compared to the rest of the blood in the photo. Also notice the evidence marker #1, it should not have blood splatter on it since it would not have been present during the murder. I don't know if the killer or the police covered the victim with the white sheet but if the police did then it also should not have splatter. Also the big dark pool of blood it the center looks very off how it is supposed tp be flat on the floor but also kind of defies gravity and starts to lay on the white sheet.
