Indie horror film "The Final Girls" deserves a look. A girl and her friends, trapped in a theater fire, wind up transported into the cheesy 80s horror movie the theater was showing. One of the characters in the movie was played by the protagonist's now deceased mother, and she's determined to keep her mother's character from meeting her original film death.
Have heard of it but only in passing, if it's actually good i might well have to check it out. In return, if you haven't already, you should see Lumberjack Man, another somewhat satirical comedy slasher movie.
I personally love movies with "ancient gods that are real and really REALLY *REALLY* scary", like lovecraftian stories. It gives a "there's something else out there, something old and forgotten, yet powerful and dangerous" feeling.
When I saw it in the theater, I kept on thinking 'Why does Thor look so young?' Only to find out later the movie was on the shelf for years before being released. Josh Whedon knows how to make a great show.
I love watching your ending explaines because you dont just skip to the ending you review the movie and narrate what's happening in the movie giving a better understanding
There is a fan theory I read that claims Joss Whedon’s universes are all connected. And it’s cool. So Buffy is slaying vampires and Rossum Corp is running their Dollhouse and then Cabin in the Woods’ ending is what triggers the apocalypse to send whatever is left of humanity into space, eventually causing the world of Firefly to happen. And River Tam is a vampire slayer of the future that The Alliance kidnapped in order to try and control a Slayer of their own.
Unlimited Amazing Easy for James James: And today we are looking at cabin the woods Also James: Nothing really happens in the first part of the film rather than a few deaths , and THEN EVERYONE DIES, all the monsters are released James at the pie chart : this is easily the largest kill count we have had, and we aren’t gonna beat it for a LOONG time , the dullest kill was every other person rather than our 5 main stars and the lab workers 😀
That was such a great explanation. I’m a horror movie buff and this was absolutely one of my favorites. But I never realized the gods were the audience. That right there was genius. Teens in horror movies do typically always have their set characters and we just go along for the ride to see exactly how the expected outcomes play out. And while I’m not usually a fan of horror comedy, I really enjoyed how this movie played out beginning to end. This was definitely the explanation I didn’t even know I needed.
That end scene with the monsters escaping has got to be one of my favorite scenes in any movie full stop. Also I know this came out way first, but did anyone else notice a huge Dead by Daylight similarity with the ancient gods sending creatures to slay humans?
a good advice even more so in chess as the pawn is the only one that can be made into a queen so if you underestimate that slow crawling pawn you back like is doomed.

something i loved about this movie is the people didn't play the hero and sacrifice themselves like most horror movies do. they just said "fuck it, let's get high and watch the world die" and i think that was poetic. how we truly can't fight our instinct to survive for the most part, even at the expense of others.

yup...and as the ancient ones...we can seek freedom from tired ass stories that do not step up to the plate and really deliver us the goods we want as moviegoers. Dissing someone who refuses to swallow the puerile, plastic , hollow social justice narratives that has stories that make no sense says more about the disser than it does about the person spending their hard earned money at the box office. Light years ahead of its time...Cabin in the woods warns us...before the birth of social justice movement that we vote with our wallets or pay the price by being imprisoned by the false narratives of people who would never give us the snot off their sneakers.. And that is something the sjw's and their lapdogs have no answer for....
Well in the movie (even in the review) it says that they already prepared a laced stupefying weed but shaggy here had his own stache that he used. So you are right. Have a personal stache of weed.
Wow, people getting technical. Ok, then. First: You don't see the Ancient Ones actually kill everyone. It's implied. And if it's world ending, they might not leave actual physical bodies either. Second: He wiped half the population on Earth... and half of everything else in the universe. Third: ... it was just a joke.
I love cabin in the woods. To me, it kinda explains every horror movie. There’s always a group. Something goes wrong. Only 1 or 2 person tends to make it out alive.
I'm assuming it's because you need to know what goes on in the movie to understand the ending? But yeah, there's a few youtubers who do "GAME TITLE"'s ending explained... which happens to be a synopsis of the entire games story and plot. these people really do need to title their videos correctly. Still a good vid though here, and for most 'ending explained' videos
Okay guys he literally said in one video that He'd make it entire movie explained but he's not expecting everyone to be fresh off the movie remembering exactly what happened. It's his channel. And his videos. He also says that ending explained sounds catchy and it's sorta kinda his thing.
Sundus They don’t really need anyone to worship them and I get the feeling time isn’t really an issue for them either so waiting for a new sentient species isn’t a problem either
They already had an "old world" to work with before. Assuming that they themselves can make worlds, they destroy the previous world as it has no significance for them anymore (they failed the ritual). It's symbolic of how the audience would no longer bite into movie studios' products when all of the films that they are producing are shit and not enjoyable. Then they start following other movie studios, ergo, other "worlds" in the Ancient Ones' view.
Cabin In the Woods is one of my favourite horror films of all time. It has a nice balance of comedy, gore, and suspense that I really like. And they didn’t make a shitty sequel to go with it
@@naledimosikara7861 You mean there aren't any sequels that are made on really illogical twist that somehow prequel ended completely differently? I think there's plenty of weird sequels.
Some people consider Firefly to be the sequel to Cabin in the Woods. The narration at the start of the series (or maybe the Serenity film) says that "the Earth was used up". I have heard a theory that this meant it was used up by the Ancient Ones, meaning whatever humans were left escaped into space.
My neighbor smokes weed every day several hours. It's basically torture for me. I can't stand the smell at all. Gives me headaches and nausea. Sealed the windows and I can still smell the damn thing... My neighbor tho...is dumb as a rock. Can't even talk properly anymore to have a normal conversation.
I kinda thought once, that the Cabin in the Woods is like a "SAW-like battle royale/escape room/death game" genre horror movie, because they come into a cabin they shouldn't have come into, and then they're being imprisoned in a huge hidden facility, being forced to survive some monster encounters, and being watched by some mysterious government employees, who are afraid of the "Gods".
I remeber I saw a video from a guy who said that they got their roles confused with the kids that Dana was actully the Fool and Marty was the Virgin which is probable.
I totally agree because I've heard that too and if you really think about it, the movie does direct the characters that way because Marty wasn't the fool. 1) he was able to evade the use of the marijuana and 2) Dana was proven to make mistakes right from the beginning because she wasn't a virgin and shows a lack of common sense within the first 10 minutes of the movie. Whereas Marty falls into the trope of the Virgin, he's the fifth wheel and he is not driven by sexuality he's driven by pot. There is a multitude of evidence that proves he's not a fool. Throughout the movie he's figuring all this stuff out, while Dana is making the worst possible choices throughout the movie, even at the end when she's convinced by the director that Marty needs to die. This wouldn't have finished the ritual because Dana was the fool! The ritual was going to fail no matter what.
@@SailorSabol basically imagine the organization in this movie but like a trillion times more competent and contain way more dangerous stuff and contain more than just monsters
@@degeneratesupreme860 Granted also would definitely do something like this ritual to contain the SCP of the ancient ones, but they would be far better than it, and even if they failed would likely have backup plane upon backup plan to recover. @@catsquidcatoverlord9842 hell the ancient gods wouldn't even be a problem for the SCP Foundation since they have an scp they can use to reset the universe when an apocalypse happen so they can try again
"Why would they even want to have the ability to do that?" Haha my exact thought! It makes no sense they would make that possible and so easy to access.
Actually they have that Purge the system button to ensure just in case they fail to kill the people on the surface they can get them in the hallways as a last resort.

20:50 Unicorns (in some cultures) were cold war horses to begin with! Sadly media has turned in the "purity beings" that they are today and I hate that!
Can you do "Hallow Man" and "Sleepy hallow the headless horse man" Love those movies and even thou I understand the ending and all I love your videos and how you explain them
You mean Hollow* ......... *hollow* means empty or can refer to a valley. *Hallow* is from the word *Hallowed* which in Old English means Holy/Exalted. I.E. "you're on *hallowed* ground," or "our Father, who art in Heaven, *hallowed* be thy name......"
I think it's good that movies like this weren't released in previous years, after all many advancements in how movies are even made are always being made, so if these movies were released earlier, we may have gotten something with much lower quality
It's not so much the twins from the Shining as it would be any pair of creepy twins. Remember these nightmares aren't supposed to be the actual ones we see in the movies but the primordial nightmares that influence what we see in the movies. So that guy with the saw blades in his head holding the puzzle cube isn't supposed to be Pinhead or a Cenobite but a nightmare that would have given the idea for Pinhead.
JM well marty is the most resourceful one of the two and the person who actually figures out go how to get into the facility and dana doesn't really do much for one
I don't think they mixed it up they said they didn't care and dana was picked to be final girl they failed because they didn't take it seriously enough and they didn't just shoot Marty when they had the chance
Another great explanation! I may be pulling this out of the air, but I think I remember reading that in mythology Unicorns can only be caught by people with a pure heart, if anyone else tries to catch them they instantly kill them which is why the Unicorn goes on a killing spree in the facility.
You guys are aware that the ancient ones are supposed to be horror fans. Like when Marty gets pulled of screen, the ancient ones are rumbling because they (the audience) did not see Marty get killed which is a trope in horror that any character you don’t see die off can be considered still alive or have the ability to come back later. You see this a great deal in slasher movies at the time the movie was made.
I like how in the scene with a ton of monsters in it with the protagonists in the middle, there is a boomer from l4d2 (not l4d because of the weird bubble in the middle of his stomach).
All of the Left for Dead special zombies are there and can be seen at some point. There's a few other video game monster cameo's too, like Alma Wade from F.E.A.R and Nemesis from Resident Evil. Most of them can only really be seen for a second though during that wide shot of all the cells moving around.
Finally. Somebody else that understands that the Ancient Ones are a stand in for the audience. It perfectly explains why Hollywood seems to make horror movies with such similar plots.
The ones you buy in the store, are kind of shity compared to what they made. I highly doubt that the store bought one would hold up. I have bought many pipes and bongs. The more they cost, the more sturdier they are. I'm sure the one in the movie is steal. While the ones you buy the store are alloy. Why, you ask. I'm so happy you asked. The company that makes them. Wants you to break it. So you have to buy a new one. Also I went to a store to be that bong. I left it at that store. It was crap. It was hard to open and close. So yeah
I love this movie so much. I was 16 or 17 when it came out, watched it with friends at home and we were all amazed. Glad the stoner was the wise one, and omg all of the monsters! The epic elevator purge scene. One of the coolest scary movies ever.
I remember thinking this movie was dumb when I first saw it, until I watched it a few more times and realized that it’s the deeper plot of why movie always have certain clichés because they have to.

It's from evil dead lol
There is a fan theory I read that claims Joss Whedon’s universes are all connected. And it’s cool. So Buffy is slaying vampires and Rossum Corp is running their Dollhouse and then Cabin in the Woods’ ending is what triggers the apocalypse to send whatever is left of humanity into space, eventually causing the world of Firefly to happen. And River Tam is a vampire slayer of the future that The Alliance kidnapped in order to try and control a Slayer of their own.
Awesome 😎

Also James: Nothing really happens in the first part of the film rather than a few deaths , and THEN EVERYONE DIES, all the monsters are released
James at the pie chart : this is easily the largest kill count we have had, and we aren’t gonna beat it for a LOONG time , the dullest kill was every other person rather than our 5 main stars and the lab workers 😀

If you underestimate the pawn, you already lost the game.
That sounds like something Viggo Grimborn would say
Pretty good statement
a good advice even more so in chess as the pawn is the only one that can be made into a queen so if you underestimate that slow crawling pawn you back like is doomed.
True! I was playing chess with my dad and he sacrificed a queen for a pawn, and i used a pawn to knock his queen over. I had thought about this trap for 10 minutes straight lmao

yup...and as the ancient ones...we can seek freedom from tired ass stories that do not step up to the plate and really deliver us the goods we want as moviegoers. Lately there has been a trend where critics and moviemakers, writers of screenplays and executives are attempting to diss audiences who pay money at the box office. Dissing someone who refuses to swallow the puerile, plastic , hollow social justice narratives that has stories that make no sense says more about the disser than it does about the person spending their hard earned money at the box office. The fact that the whole movie is scary and everything. But they add "lighthearted" stuff. The betting pool, the almost-sex scene. That's pretty fun
Well, I always considered it a dark comedy with horror elements, rather than a horror movie with "lighthearted" parts.

Wow, people getting technical. Ok, then.
First: You don't see the Ancient Ones actually kill everyone. It's implied. And if it's world ending, they might not leave actual physical bodies either.

I'm assuming it's because you need to know what goes on in the movie to understand the ending? But yeah, there's a few youtubers who do
"GAME TITLE"'s ending explained... which happens to be a synopsis of the entire games story and plot.
these people really do need to title their videos correctly. Still a good vid though here, and for most 'ending explained' videos
my thought immediately as someone who's seen the movie is "...everyone dies. the end" five seconds video bam
Okay guys he literally said in one video that He'd make it entire movie explained but he's not expecting everyone to be fresh off the movie remembering exactly what happened. It's his channel. And his videos. He also says that ending explained sounds catchy and it's sorta kinda his thing.
I’m just wondering why the “ancient ones” want to destroy an entire world where no one would be left to worship them...
Plot hole
Sundus
They don’t really need anyone to worship them and I get the feeling time isn’t really an issue for them either so waiting for a new sentient species isn’t a problem either
Nishi Ahochi dayum! Thank you I really like that explanation 😊

Cabin In the Woods is one of my favourite horror films of all time. It has a nice balance of comedy, gore, and suspense that I really like. And they didn’t make a shitty sequel to go with it
How would they make a sequel when everyone is dead?
@@naledimosikara7861 You mean there aren't any sequels that are made on really illogical twist that somehow prequel ended completely differently? I think there's plenty of weird sequels.
Some people consider Firefly to be the sequel to Cabin in the Woods. The narration at the start of the series (or maybe the Serenity film) says that "the Earth was used up". I have heard a theory that this meant it was used up by the Ancient Ones, meaning whatever humans were left escaped into space.
3years later.. Sequel just came out 😂

That actually makes more sense to me personally
I'll have to look that up! Marty was definitely my favourite character.
Dale Crez I’m eating a Reese’s rn

The cabin in the woods: ERROR to many deaths
Can you do "Hallow Man" and "Sleepy hallow the headless horse man"
Love those movies and even thou I understand the ending and all I love your videos and how you explain them
YES
You mean Hollow* ......... *hollow* means empty or can refer to a valley.
*Hallow* is from the word *Hallowed* which in Old English means Holy/Exalted. I.E. "you're on *hallowed* ground," or "our Father, who art in Heaven, *hallowed* be thy name......"
I think it's good that movies like this weren't released in previous years, after all many advancements in how movies are even made are always being made, so if these movies were released earlier, we may have gotten something with much lower quality
Biologically, the unicorn horn has the perfect placement to stab an intruder when the horse charges.
Even the twins from the shining are there in the lock cages
It's not so much the twins from the Shining as it would be any pair of creepy twins. Remember these nightmares aren't supposed to be the actual ones we see in the movies but the primordial nightmares that influence what we see in the movies. So that guy with the saw blades in his head holding the puzzle cube isn't supposed to be Pinhead or a Cenobite but a nightmare that would have given the idea for Pinhead.
9:09 Look to the right, that word in red. Am I tripping tf out?!? 😂😂😂😂😂

“In the cabin, it’s time to get the porty storted!!!”
Wanna know especially why they failed?
They mixed up who had the role of "Virgin" and "Fool."
Mmmm idk about that
I saw someone mention a theory vid that talks about this hmm.. will have to do more research.
Interesting theory. Any evidence of Marty being a virgin or Dana supposedly acting like the fool
I loved this movie because it made me laugh hard but also flinch once and awhile.

So basically The Cabin in the Woods is about movie related scenarios and breaking the 4th wall *whom'st'd've movie maker*
As the Gods being the audience or critics
You guys are aware that the ancient ones are supposed to be horror fans. Like when Marty gets pulled of screen, the ancient ones are rumbling because they (the audience) did not see Marty get killed which is a trope in horror that any character you don’t see die off can be considered still alive or have the ability to come back later. You see this a great deal in slasher movies at the time the movie was made.
