- Quite a few of my viewers were surprised that the GC Squadron was an actual feature in the game when I mentioned it in my original powerleveling guide, and apparently a couple hundred of you wanted to learn more, so this video is for you. I use my GC Squadron all the time to get my alt jobs from levels 20-60 as quickly as possible.

@12:04 You can bind the squadron abilities to hotkeys/your bars. They're under actions -> orders -> squadron!
Oh wow. I must actually be blind then. I looked in the keybind setting and assumed the Duty Action keybinds would work... >_>
Squadrons still use abilities no longer available to classes so gladiators using flash and arcanists using shadowflare are fun things to see.
Yeah! And if I understand correctly, they also use abilities that are level-gated when they're level synced, so if your healer is level 50, they'll use level 50+ abilities even at level 20.
That's how I found out I HATE the sound effect for Largesse. I don't even know what it does, I just hate the sound!
shadowflare is pretty busted in squadrons lmao, completely tears through groups of enemies
Shadowflare applies a slow debuff on all enemies inside it. This even hits bosses. The slow effect combined with Offense Mastery just makes the fights easier. It requires pet and enemy management to group enemies in the AoE - but the rewards are lower enemy DPS and higher party DPS simultaneously. None of the other classes offer this.
I used the GC squads to go on leveling spree on all jobs to 70. Can be a bit dumb sometimes but it was fun to roll with a full glamed and uniform team. Also, I'm alone. Absolutely no pressure.

Good guide! Watched it to see if there was any info I was missing, already have they all lvled to 60. Made the effort to scout all the lalafells (I'm a potato myself), my squadron looks like a kindergarten :D rofl

You can bind the commands by going into the Action menu and go into the Commands option. Then drag and drop.
The length was good and it gave me some real actionable information. I’ve been up to squadrons but wasn’t sure how to go about starting after hearing some player’s difficulties. Thanks, I’ll be starting now.
I think the reason they can't do Qarn or Cutter's Cry is all the repositioning you have to do for mechanics, like getting the stone faces on those floor plates. But yeah, ever since I saw Squadron leveling mentioned in a Zepla video about ways to level, I've been doing it for any DPS I'm leveling up. I avoid Toto-rak since they can also run Halatali, and the tank can easily pull entire rooms there. The Disengage button is actually useful for the 2nd boss in Halatali too.

Just leveled to lvl 50 every job that starts at less than lvl 50 using pretty much only squadrons. Overall a very decent way for leveling alt jobs especially when using Menphina's earrings and other exp buffs (FC/manual, food) as you mentioned.
For variety though I highly recommend doing at least frontline and maybe leveling roulette daily alongside spamming squadrons - especially at lvl 32-41 since Brayflox's Longstop is the only viable dungeon with squadrons for a long while.
Also one huge thing that has been changed since Endwalker is that the exp comes from bosses, not mobs anymore. For that reason, if you're just a bit short on exp for lvl 50 for example and you're running Aurum Vale, you can try to take the shortest route to first boss, kill it and leave the dungeon since that first boss already gives quite a bit of exp. Of course that might cost some more GC seals but there's plenty of ways to farm them before one should even consider leveling alt jobs.

My entire squadron is maxed out at lvl60 with max stats. I mostly just follow them and click the 'kill this' button

Ah shit, I knew I forgot to mention something. It's super valuable to take all the loot from the dungeons to break even on GC Seals!

Yep. Cecily let me down when I tried to run Stone Vigil with her help. I'm trying to level a DRK and I think I might need to try starting at a lower level.
I hope they provide more updates in GC Squadron. I had fun doing these for a while power levelling but thats basically it. Hope they provide sidequests and its own storyline with the members you have and why not include them in options when you wanna try out an extreme boss with a full squad of AI it would make a nice visual tutorial.

It's interesting to learn that the arcanist will actually USE heals if needed. Never knew that since I always just used archer for good aoe at all levels.
As a lowish level Arcanist (second job, just trying it out) I rezed someone out in the world. Haven't taken her into dungeons though.
As a tank I only use 2 arcanists as DPS. Their heal often lands before the healer's one. That saved me quite a lot of times.
I need to try that.

On PS4 you can set the command actions to your hotbar

Nice didn't knew the offensive strat one. Thanks alot. You can press k and assign the command button to your command bars and assign a key to them. Also another good way to get comany seals is simply unsync content loot all chests and turn in the green items.
Is duty support a good option or is squadron the way to go for leveling alts?
excellent video! gotta love the squadron they really saved me from dps queues :D its just my personal taste but I prefer to keep tank on defensive tactics, they have huuuge hp and you can pretty much wall to wall pulls no problem, plus if you bring the warrior he uses holmgang, saving a lot of possible wipes
I like to live on the edge a little! But yes, the Holmgang usage is nice but... sometimes the AI just doesn't use it for seemingly no reason, so it's not 100% reliable 😅
You can definitely keybind squadron abilities by putting them on a bar. I use ctrl+1 for attack and ctrl+2 for disengage because those are wow pet buttons. This is very important for microing the tank or killing specific adds like the bubble in Brayflox that the boss always puts on you no matter what role you are.
Yeah, the bosses will definitely target only you for a bunch of the mechanics like the toxic puddle in Brayflox or the line AOEs in the Darkhold. I never actually tried just dragging the buttons onto my hotbar... huh.
@@AlZahard you can find the SQ-actions under "Actions & Traits" then "Orders" and click the Squadron button (Normally on Companion Orders).

I did this all the time on my main, gotten all my Squadron members to level 60 and scored a promotion in hopes that there was going to be new content for it in future expansions.
Then Trust happened... *sob*
I think the trust system had so much potential but the execution is just so weak :'(

do you get more exp when the dungeon lvl is closer to yours or can you just spam the dungeon u like no matter the level?
You get more XP from higher level dungeons, just don’t do the level 50/60 ones.
Work out emotes for a variety of purposes, *glances at ERP's*
My all time record clear for Somn Al with Squadron, is ~12 minutes. It is way faster than I ever get with a duty finder group and I get all the loot. Squadrons is simply THE FASTEST way to lvl up 21-65. Also, MRD tank IS superior, they do more aoe dmg to help clear quicker.

How do you lvl DPS jobs from 65 - 71? From 71-80 bozja is fastest people told me.
Either go heaven on high or dungeons

@@finalfantasy50 how can you actually grind those specific floors though? As far as I'm aware you only get your XP if you finish the 10 floors successfully and leave. Is there some way to reset it back those exact 10 floors?

Ah, that's just Thousand Maws of Toto-rak being a bitch. That dungeon absolutely sucks and no matter how big you pull, there's not much you can do about it. For this level range, I actually wouldn't be against running Palace of the Dead and doing your Duty Roulettes (+ Wondrous Tails) immediately to get through this as fast as you can.

Can you pull bigger by placing your tank in a more defensive squadron order? The dps loss from the tank doing less could be made up by the increased amount of targets for your dps to beat up.
Yes, you can! It gets a bit spicy with the tank not being able to maintain aggro on everything on big pulls (AOE angled wrong, enemies too far, etc), so I prefer more damage in medium sized pulls.
Only problems i have with them is bosses that require mechanics they ignore. Like boss is invulnerable until you kill adds, you have to keep making them kill adds. Other then that using them is great.

Give it a while - maybe try a different browser? Maybe check if adblock is interfering. Worked fine for me just now in the latest versions of Chrome and Firefox.
Does anyone have any remote tips for The Vault? I had no issues with it as a tank, but doing it as DPS, the first few pulls especially where they ambush you, I legit just die to the pulls every time. I can't get my tank to pick up aggro anywhere near fast enough to not just get bullied by them, to the point it's making me want to stop squadrons when I get to that dungeon because it just feels like a nightmare. Any help would be stellar.
What armor/glam are you using @10:44? I only started a month ago but I main tank and want to steal that look!
That's the full Odin (Dark Divinity) set, which you can farm by doing Urth's Fount. As a level 80 DPS, each run takes about a minute. I'm wearing the version that you get from the Odin FATE, which is a slightly different color :)

Did I just forget this existed or do I have to do something to unlock it? Does it only count if I check the log?
I think the Gold Saucer log is unlocked as soon as you gain access to the location? It's a pretty significant amount of MGP, especially if you add in Fashion Report and a +15% MGP buff from a FC or squadron mission, so I'd recommend checking it out :)

Should we prioritize getting 8 members/ hiring any new recruit that comes up till it’s full of pick and choose is there any penalty to dismiss members to get new ones
Yeah, getting a full roster ASAP (tank, healer, 2 dps) is recommended. No penalty for dismissing members, and you can re-spec their job/class with manuals bought for GC Seals

So should I do the highest dungeon in my level bracket or the highest dungeon? So for example if I'm level 30 do I keep doing Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak until 32 aka Brayflox or what?
Yes, always do the highest level dungeon you have access to. Higher level = more XP from kills. So if you're level 30, do Toto-Rak until you can do Brayflox.

Squadron leveling is efficient, but you will come to loath Toto-Rak, Bryflox and the Aurum Vale.
Audio books help tho.
I actually didn't mind Aurum Vale because you can pull big pretty easily. 100% hate Toto-Rak though, that dungeon is hell.

@@wollyram6248 oh my god that entire section of the dungeon needs to get deleted. Actual cancer, regardless of whether it's a squadron with you, a party of hardcore raiders or sprouts. I think Toto-rak is my most hated dungeon of all time.

They used to be a lot looser when it comes to squad ability usage, but this resulted in the Ungermax exploit incident...
You can move the commands to your normal hotbars via the orders tab in the skills window to use hotkeys.
I recommand always going with an archer as they have the more DPS on average of all DPS classes!
I dunno, I tried to level through squadrons, but they were so incredibly slow and the squad mates had awful AI. The tank could only single pull and would miss multiple monsters each pull, so I had to manually target monsters and make him focus them individually. The healer AI barely heals ever, so I've had to blow all my mitigations at once (or my self heals on DPS) and the dps never seemed to use AoEs for any reason.
Is it just me or the Squadron tanks don't seem to AoE.....
If you put the 3 buttons on your hotbar, they become keybind-able. I bind my "engage" to tilde (~).
Oh I never actually tried that because I didn't have enough keybinds available. Thanks for the tip!
so leveling tank is a bad idea for squadron?
No, it's actually pretty darn fast. You can pull as big as you like and your DPS members will do good damage, but you gotta heavily mitigate because your healer isn't the smartest AI in the game
@@AlZahard awesome, since I'm only starting out Squadron, my AI doesnt do big dmg yet, so I'll level a dps class and make my dps AI's stronger then level my tank after. Feeling a lot faster that way as AI tank is super beefy
@@AlZahard One thing I've heard and I'm listening as I type so you might cover it but you can turn off your emnity boosters because the ai are much tankier than regular dps/healers and so it takes some of the tank pressure off of you.

It's the dark divinity set for the armour. It's apart of a realm reborn. You can get it by defeating Odin.

@@ruinerdown1614 There are 2 versions of the set, with slight coloration changes. The one I'm wearing is called Herklaedi, which you can get from defeating the Odin FATE and trading the tokens in at Mor Dhona. The easier version to get is the Dark Divinity set from farming Urth's Fount, which should take you about a minute per run.
The weapon is the Seeing Horde Axe. :)
Good guide, they changed it so you only get exp from bosses now though.
Yeah, I'll need to make updated versions of some of my guides, including this one. You're now incentivized to speedrun and get to the bosses as fast as possible, which might make leveling faster with this as you can skip some groups of mobs.
I remember the beginning days of the squadron when you just spam the attack order with 2 archers in a group and they did insane dmg.
And there was also a bug/cheat to use the squad limit break outside of the dungeons in your regular raid groups.

Trust mechanics AI would be a nice addition.
so ive had a pretty substandard squadron experience compared to literally everyone else. when i tank for mine, the healer lets me die. solo pulls, 3 mobs, 30% mit popped, healer still dpsing while im at 20% hp and just die. i go in as dps and start commanding my tank to go pick up mobs, and the healer/dps run around like fucking retards and aggro other things and we wipe. i also tried arcanist like you suggested and he was consistently, in aoe and boss fights, the dead last dps, and he has literally never thrown out a single heal in lieu of dpsing. behind healer every time. and my healer doesnt even have offensive unlocked yet, much less ranked up. i changed him to archer and hes doing a lot more.
Still haven't even unlocked squadrons lol

@@Ed-el6pp it depends on how fast your queue times are and how optimized your runs are. My personal preference is:
Squadron until level 56, then PoTD until level 61, then Heaven on High until 71.
The only difference, you don't have to clear every monster in the dungeon now. Only bosses reward exp since 6.0

you say the whole disengage reengage is only useful in dhamzel....have you ever tried being the healer for thoie guys and had to do brayflox? those putzes will stand in the pools until they die...my 2 cents avoid using them for that lvl spurt if you are the healer they are worse then sprouts!

Trust were the death of 11 i think its hilarious they put them in 14. 1.0 is starting to look better than current game besides the exp timegate.
Not even knowing this was an option then I got 4 of my members up to 30 but only have 2 dungeons I can run so far but this was totally worth unlocking them I wish I would of known sooner
"DPS is the easiest job in the game". I would argue that yes, DPS is easier then Tank and Healer to play "good". In my experience (Gunbreaker, Astro, Samurai) DPS is the most difficult to play at a high level. I trip over my rotation constantly and I feel like it comes at me faster then with Tank or even Off Tank in trials. Astro feels really busy still sometimes but I'd argue still easier then trying to keep an optimized DPS rotation.
Yeah, I had to abandon squadrons for leveling. The fucking healers will refuse to fucking heal me and unless I play a class with self-healing I slowly die.
Literally done what the site says, still don't have the right stats, what a waste of time.
I pretty much did this years back to level my alts. For me healing is really easy, but tanking is too nerve wracking to do with players.

As a healer main DPS is the hardest in the game to do OPTIMALLY
The male Au Ra THM you have, Baien, has the exact same hairstyle as my character, has the exact same robe (Ramie Robe of Casting), and I believe has the same face as my dude does. I am also a BLM main, it was my first class I got to 80. Kinda bizarre to look at tbh

Pro tip for Dzemael Darkhold. Your squad are happy little idiots who don't know how to get inside the crystal veil areas. Disengage them, wait until they come to your side (and bring the flying eyeball with them) and then re-engage.

@@kzorander8577 If you refer to the big tonberry right at the entrance, then it's a hurry-up device to run from :). And it aint the only one in there. Thought that might be it since you say it "comes after you".

Can confirm, after EW release, still really bad exp in level 50 dungeons.
I no longer heal in duty finder due to the amount of jerks unless I have a tank from fc with me. This is one of the best alternatives. People like to say the community is great, but fail to tell people the toxicity in DF especially now with all the wow refugees. Yet people wonder why their queue is so long and there is no healers or tanks... you can make your gameplay better by not being a jerk to others, then they might queu more instead of going in with friends or simply use squadron. I imagine tank has the same issue and would rather do squadrons or queu with people from their fc.Ffxiv, is way more toxic than gw2. To say it is a friendly environment, it might be true for people who hasn't seen or experience better communities.
Especially as a baby tank who didnt know any better, I jad a hard time in DF. People just shouting abbreviations I didn't understand 🤣
@@sh1yo7 I usually ask them if they would like to wait for another healer. That usually shuts them up real quick. And refuse to move and let them know I am waiting for a response. And when they say no, that's when I tell them maybe they can learn to heal themselves and leave.
