I don’t know if this is even possible or not but it would be really cool if they could build the big blocks with dual bell housing patterns so that more readily available small block transmissions would bolt up to the big blocks
I never understood why the aftermarket didn’t make that revision to the Ford blocks. I’m running a C4 but my bell housing will fit power glide and turbo 400
@@jaypisme2343 Ford has done this before, on the 400 and 351 modified blocks. There's not a good reason to me anyway, that they don't do this at this point. Ford needs to fight sanctioning body's in the dirt series to let the Ford guys run the 347 Ford crate motor. They have a GM dirt late model series with no Fords allowed even though Ford has a comparable crate motor. Also Ford needs to build a iron head 347 motor to race with the GM 602 crate motors. Disgusting to see so many racing series with not one Ford powered car in it. Come on Ford you can do it. 🤔 Maybe the predigest sanctioning bodies should state only GM supporters allowed to watch and participate..
Not going to happen. It is what it is. When I was involved in dirt racing the Chevy mafia, got everything Ford or Mopar banned. It was done , supposedly too save on costs, the last move too ban Cleveland heads, (they were only produced 4 years, US production) they used every excuse that they could think of. I just said, "hell" with it.

Why doesn't Ford get smart and offer a 4.125"x3.250" , 347 stroker? The small bore, big stroke has a gnarly rod angle and it shoves the wrist pin higher into the ring package.
4.125" bore? Then you just go 3.4" crank = 363 cid. 363 rod ratio is just fine at 1.59. Mahle makes a piston with rings that don't get into the piston pin....but that's not a big deal anyway. 347 "oil burner" reputation came from faulty, earlier design pistons and no oil ring supports for piston pin area.

AODs/AODEs/4R70Ws 75s etc. only have small block bolt pattern, same as C4s. C6s were made in three different bolt patterns, small block, 385 series big block 429/460, also the same as 351M400 and the old FE series engines had their own different bolt pattern.

It's done in order to increase displacement. The bigger the bore, the more clearance the intake valve has and that equals better flow and the opportunity to run bigger valves. Thanks for the question.
Displacement is bore+stroke, and stroke is probably maxed out. I don't know how much more they can ore it out, but I'm guessing it can go another 0.030...
So normally a .030 overbore is just to true up worn cylinders. So that's giving the valves an actual .015" more clearance from the cylinder wall, that can't make much difference.
