I feel the frustration. I didn't know about JIS for a loooong time. Definitely get a set. They're worth every penny, but get a good set or they wear out quick.
2003 R incon, Mine was parked for 8 months with stability and full tank of gas. It would run but not without choke, 5 miles an hour holding ckoke open. Changed my in line gas filter, Remove airfilter and repeated spraying B12 chemtool choke cleaner will high idle. No luck . Remove top 4 bolts of carburator, spayed b12 and used vacuum cleaner to suck out cleaner and shot with air compressor three times total, cleaned all parts , needle and rubber. Reinstalled and it worked great ! Caution I am no mechanic just did little blow air and suck did the trick.
Whatever works. I'm not a "real" mechanic either. I just fix the stuff I have any way that I can. Congrats on the success. That's all that matters in the end. 👍🏼
Older video I know, but when I get a stuck screw like that I cut a flat head slot in it with a dremmel tool, the heat from that alone helps then just turn out with a flat head driver. Doesn't get hot enough to affect the diaphragm.
At 34:16 there is a spring from the needle jet screw orphice that falls out. At 36:05 he blew out a oring and likely a tiny washer that the spring rests on with compressed air. Just be aware of that if you are disassembling this carb. The shop manual shows it but pay attention to what order they go in.
I have the same model year rincon I don’t like this name RINCON , Wonder what it means ? I have never had any issues with the r con .. I Just drain THE GAS out of the carb and lines if you let it sit in storage or use a stabilizer in your fuel . Thanks for the video and all your time working on your quad
I never liked the name either. If I remember correctly the Rincon name comes from a spot in Baja Mexico. Since Honda won the Baja 1000 ATV class in 03 with the Rincon, I guess it all ties together. It's still a FourTrax TRX650. We always took good care of this machine then stuff just started going wrong one after another. But, it's 🎽 ng we'll now so that's good 👍🏼👍🏼 Thanks for watching
I run 2 1/4 turns and I get better gas mileage. However, all my riding is done at or above 7000 feet alt. Also, the primer pump leaks. I have replaced the pump and the carburetor, still it leaks. Going to redneck it with pine tar soon. :)
I ended up replacing it with a pretty good knockoff from Amazon. It's been running great ever since. There's another video about it which lists the carb I used, if you just need to replace yours too.
The JIS screws are usually identified with what looks like a punch mark on the head (dimple) , phillips screw drivers were originally designed to cam out to limit torque . If you try to use these chinese carbs you must match the jets. I run an ATV/UTV service shop and I avoid the china carbs unless I am desperate , a rebuild on an OEM is always best.If all the rebuilds you done did not help and there is nothing else wrong your carb has a permanent blockage , find a used one and rebuild it
Considering how much I had already spent on that bike, all new computers, the carb issue etc I wasn't going to spend the extra money on a factory carb. This one works ok for what I do with it. I'm never more than 3 miles from home with it anyway.
Always add a fuel stabilizer at each fill up. It keeps the fuel molecules from breaking down. I suggest using sea foam. I put sea foam in everything I don’t use frequently like my pressure washer, outboard motor and weed eater. I never have carb issues even after a year not being start.
the problem I'm having is the original carburetor drips gas through the overflow line, replaced the carburetor with a new one, doing the same thing. sent that one back and put the second new one on it and it is still dripping gas from the overflow line at the bottom of the bowl. I am stumped
@@HFG I figured it was going to be something like that but it's just weird that the original carburetor done it and then two brand new carburetors did the exact same thing. all the carburetors including the original ran just fine just dripped gas
@@dwightschrute1953 I've run into the same issue before. In those cases the float height was too high allowing the bowl to overfill. As for the factory carb, well, that thing was just a nightmare.
@@HFG Amen to that on the original carburetor. I may attempt to go in and adjust the float height and just see. enjoyed your video keep up the good work
I know this is a old video and a hell of a shot, but I’m having carb issues, no overflows, no anything, just can’t get it to run right. There’s a long black tube with a twist handle, all the parts diagrams call it a screw set but for what? I see it in your video but you never mention what it is. Something to do with air to fuel mixture I’d think but I’m new to carbs and it’s throw me for a loop. Any help from anyone would be appreciated.
The tube with the knob on the end is the idle adjustment. It gets bolted to the frame under the right side panel. It's just for adjusting the idle. You probably have some small particles stuck in a jet or circuit somewhere.
The jdmspeed carb is not even close. The engine side of the venturi is at least a quarter inch smaller. And looks very little like the carb in this video. Please advise the viewers not to use this old link. It will not even bolt up.
Ok. I'll remove the link. I guess they changed the part or something. That sucks. Thanks for letting me know, and I'm sorry if I caused you any problems. I had no idea.
Stop using ethanol use 91 instead of 87. It will run better. maybe change gas stations it’s funny that two different carburetors are doing the same thing Hass to be something else? Would get aggravating! Thanks for the video do a good job explaining
A little discouraging that I watched so much of your video only to find out that you were unable to make sense of the bowl drain. I’d suggest that you stare at your bathtub drain and overflow. That may help you out. And jic you missed it when you took it apart, there is no accelerator pump in this carburetor.
The Honda service center couldn't fix it and refused to work on it anymore (with stock Honda parts). I'm not sure what part you're referring to since it was so long ago, but I understand how the carb works just not why it was always leaking. I'm not a carb expert, just an average guy trying to get the quad running. 👍🏼

@@kdiddy7076 me either. People online swear by those Honda carbs but I didn't have any luck with it. That cheap Amazon/Chinese carb isn't perfect but it was 1/5 the cost of the Honda one and it's never leaked. It has a finicky idle but otherwise has worked perfectly.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video, I had never heard of a JIS screw or tool for it, I will be ordering JIS tools now.

There’s no replaceable seat for the float needle?
Apparently not. The seat is pressed in from what I can remember. 🤷🏽♂️ It was a few years ago so can't be sure.
