Nice video I was wandering if you don't have a sx card in the drone can you record too the phone I don't no much about them I got a sky viper but it doesn't have GPS I want too get one like yours any information would be appreciated Mike Holden said that out of north Carolina great video great flying I wished I was as half as good as you are thanks again
The pinion gears are a little bigger than most and hard to find but have been told that Dromida drones are very similar for the gears..Also Sky Viper has discontinued selling most of the parts for the 2450gps... The motors are 8520’s but as I say.. The gears are the hardest thing to find
I have a few Sky Vipers - Nano, Fury, Scout and 2 Journeys. Im not sure which app the 2450 uses but the Scout and Journey use the 2.0 app. The app never properly reads the 1200mAh batteries. You can adjust battery life parameters in the browser interface, but I wouldnt mess with ANY of that - unless youre skilled in Arduino. I think the aftermarket batteries found on-line work better than the ones from Sky Viper, but I always get C30s. I THINK SV does not supply high discharge batteries (explains why theyre not labeled). I dont normally use the app - just let it record to SD, so I get nearly 20min flights with Journey and over 20min with Scout (with the 1200mAh). Beware - SV GPS drones do not have obstacle avoidance. If your drone is returning to home, take control as soon as you can - they seem to like trees. Thanx for the awesome review! Oh, Yeah - LiPo batteries shouldnt be used below freezing temps.
I've got a Journey from my wife for Christmas, never flown a drone in my life but I'm not a stranger to RC gadgets, really easy to fly. Calibrate and of you go. Agree about the body quality, it's made of Lexan not just the cheap ABS plastic. My 9 yo son flown it without a problem. The GPS is not very accurate but hey, it's a sub 200 euro toy and does what it's supposed to do - flies, lands and shoots some video.
Just curious, did you keep the batteries at room temperature PRIOR to installing them by any chance? Quick Tip- When flying in the winter, get yourself a handwarmer, put it in a sock and put your battery in another sock, then rubber band them together and put them in yet another sock. That way, your batteries will be warm and perform well for the average ten minute flight.......
I got one for xmas too! I feel a bit better after seeing this video. Thought there was something wrong with mine. I'm in northern Indiana and tried a test flight at 8 degrees outside temp. It did not go well. Same battery issues as you were having. Although I had a problem even keeping the drone in one spot, it wanted to drift all over the place without input. Hoping to get a more successful test after it warms up.
phillbatchelor that's good to hear. Yes these don't like the cold. Make sure you don't lift off until your light turns green on transmitter that means gps lock is on. Sounds like you where flying without it. We're in nwi !
Drone comes with a 1200mah and I've gotten a spare now as well. Still only get about 2-4 minutes of flight in below freezing temps. Batteries hate the cold.
Yeah, I think it was just the gps lock. Green light went solid, so I took off right away and was having problems. Now I wait for a solid light, and then double check tower/web interface to confirm a good lock before taking off. Seems to be working fine now.
Could you do a test with this and an app called Solex? this is the 3rd party application used by the 3DR Solo, which uses a similar flight control computer. I've been told that Solex has been tweaked to work with the Skyviper, and will give you a lot of added functionality to include one of the best waypoint mission flying apps out there.
cool video bro. I've had 4 sky vipers and lost all of em. But that one is awesome! If you don't mind how much is that specific one and what is the max flight distance?
Daniel Duarte I have not been able to do solid test on distance but I believe they claim only 300 feet or so. More tests to come. This is priced at $150 but I was able to catch this on sale for $99!
Hi my friend, i buy this drone(v2450gps) with head seat fpv one week a go, if you can make one video with the special features on its and gps fuctions, gps auto mission. Thanks God bless you
Dude, you didn't even talk about the best part of this drone, the web interface You can go in with it connected to your device and adjust everything and add modes like throw mode and sport mode.
Ed McDonald no unfortunately I have not had alot of time to explore more. But with the weather being below freezing to - temps I am waiting to do more tests. Because this thing hates the cold and I cannot properly test its basic functions
GPS don’t work so good so if you plan on keeping your drone don’t I repeat do not fly it to high or it will loos signal and it will fly North and never stop until the battery dies by then it will be gone and you will have lost it forever.
Yes you are so write.i have or had a Sky Viper 2450 gps drone and it was in full gps lock and it lost contact with the controller and to this day i still have not received my drone
Sorry, I would warn against buying this drone due the fact you can NOT buy replacement parts for it. 110 % disappointment...Before you buy it do your homework on being able to get replacement parts first.. It's a real shame because it really is a cool drone. ( SKY VIPER V2450GPS DRONE ) There is not even away to contact anyone at skyviper.com I have tried.

We had the same problems. 10 degrees outside. Great flyer cant wait till it warms up outside..

Bro you should get a mjx bugs 2w. You'll love it and its only around $170. I've got mine to reach 2400meters in distance and 498meater in altitude.
Just curious, did you keep the batteries at room temperature PRIOR to installing them by any chance?

SolarReturn yes I did . I try multiple times when battery was warm.
I'm afraid to fly mine far away. I will learn and get better.
I turned my camera down some so it looks more downward

phillbatchelor Try a 3.7volt that is at LEAST 700+mAh! the higher the mAh is the longer the flight will be and it will not hurt the drone.

happy 2018 my old flying friend. nice job.
ianthemonk thanks
Great vid. Do you fly looking at the screen or drone or both?
Bob Barley both
Lol I do both
nice review, mine should be here this week I hope.
what do you think of using a PTK-5197?
I was so afraid of flying my sky viber until I seen his video thanks bro I think I can do it now hahaha
Did you ever get a chance to fly this on a warmer day? In the ardupilot interface it lets you change the LVC voltage.
Blizofoz45 not yet.

Richard Masci interesting ! Maybe

Great video! Does this bird require compass calibration?
Gary oddly No! U just set it down wait and fly!
I'm thinking about getting one of these, would you recommend it? I still can't believe no compass calibration, that's a plus!
Gary I cannot recommend yet. I still need more testing. Winter weather has held me back from flying
Yes I understand, come on spring time!
