- The cat backpack carrier is something I've been wanting to try for awhile because it'd be a dream to take our house cats out exploring the world with me. I have exactly this cat back pack that I use to ride on my bike if I need to take my cats to the vet! Great as we’re a one car family and this is perfect. My cats love it! Even the big ones seem to fit ok. There is a grill window instead of the bubble, too.
That's so cool that you can take your cats to the vet on your bike. How long did it take to get them used to the motion of the bike?
if any catmoms are interrested buying this backpack buy the L size because S and M are still quite caustrophobic.. L is perfect , it's sold as small dog backpack and it's perfect, spacy and wonderful I love mine!

That thing makes me claustrophobic just looking at it!! I would hate my face confined by a plastic bubble with a few small holes in it. I think the cats are ok with it because you are great kitty parents and your cats feel safe and content with you.
I agree, I think it'd make me claustrophobic too! I do think they feel very safe and content with us, thanks for saying that :) but we also kept them in it for a very short period of time, don't know if they would have liked it much longer than that!
I bought my cat my small skiddish cat a large cat back pack (PLENTY of room) but it had big open windows which I think scared her because she doesnt really like people. And on the bus she would be crying. So I decided to buy her one like in this video and she likes it waaay more. No complaints lol

This is great! 😸 I don't know how my indoor cat would react. He is almost 5, and he finally within the past few months has shown interest in outside.
Thanks for watching! 😸 I'd say give it a try! Pooh was the one who was the most bothered by going outside so we brought her in pretty quickly and she was mad at first and then was back to her normal self 5 minutes later, so it can be a fun experiment without causing any lasting cat anger haha

I know this is an older video and different backpack but there’s a similar one going around and I wanted to see how it works. While my cat wouldn’t complain, it just seems cruel to put him in such a confined area where he may feel vulnerable and unsafe. But if I ever did get this, I’d put the backpack front facing so he can always look up for security. :) beautiful kitty’s and sorry for your losses
That's a good idea to try to wear it front facing! I think if we ever did want to take our cats around in a backpack other than just for this tiny amount of time, we'd likely invest in a larger, more plush one. Thanks for watching and your kind words :)
I bought the same backpacks off eBay for my sister's kittens! Rose gold for a girl and silver for a boy! They seemed to like them as they were climbing all over them lol!

Short periods of time and as long as the cat likes it it’s fine... Ever seen cat carriers? Usually they’re so small the cat isn’t able to sit up, only lay down. They typically prefer smaller confined area in that kind of situation, being in an unfamiliar environment. They are fine.. 🙄
I got a larger cat backpack, not a bubble one though, all mesh... My cat hated it his first time. Only had him in for a few minutes, and gave him some treats after.
Ooh an all mesh one, I'd be interested to try that. Did he eventually get used to it and enjoy it?

I think it depends on the cat and the neighborhood. We have indoor cats because a neighborhood dog once attacked one of our cats. They seem pretty happy inside with us

I've just ordered this for my 8 month old maine Coon/bengal mix! She is harness trained but when she gets tired carrying her can be a pain(especially when a dog walks past lol) she weighs 3 pounds and is rlly small so size shouldn't be a problem (at least for now XD)

Is the takeaway that cats hate being in the backpack? Did they come to like it better after a few goes?
My personal takeaway was that we needed to introduce them to it at a younger age. Also that we should have probably gotten a larger size. Since they didn't seem to care for it, we didn't push it, but I think our orange one, Opie, is laidback enough to have eventually gotten used to it

Do you think this will work well for a small kitty? My cat likes backpacks and looking outside so I think it will be perfect but i dont want to squish him!
Yes, would likely be great for a small kitty! Our smaller orange one seemed fine inside it but our larger one Howie was more distressed about it. Maybe just try to buy one that has a return policy in case your cat doesn't like it?

Hello, I loved this video! But I have a question. How hot does it get in there? Is it warm, cool, or like a hot car.
Thanks so much! :) It gets very hot in the summer, but I filmed this video in the winter, so it was nice and cool. I wouldn't recommend putting a cat in the cat backpack in the heat of summer, even though it does have air slats to let the breeze in

There’s a backpack that looks just like that but with Pokeball patterns at my local store and I’m in love with it 😅 but I prefer to harness walk my cat. The bag’s adorable but I can’t shake the feeling that it looks like I’m advertising my cat as an ‘accessory’ more than a friend
Such an interesting perspective of accessory vs friend! What harness do you use? Our cats are indoor cats, but I'd be interested in potentially taking them on walks if they were comfortable with a harness
Leigh-Anne Marie I use a Rogz kitten harness 😊 (I live in South Africa so I’m not sure what brands you’ll have in your area) but any “H-shape” cat harness should do. The more lightweight the easier it is getting them used to it. A quick way to train them is putting the harness on (without the lead) during playtime, so they can relate wearing it to a positive experience, and then slowly introducing them to the garden and beyond. Some cats are uncomfortable in the street with the noisy cars so don’t worry if they’re only comfortable using the harness in the garden. You do what works best for your pets

Yeah, it had been probably around 2-3 years since my last cat video and our family lost all three of them in that time span. Wally had liver cancer at age 12 and Baby Cat and Winnie passed of old age 💔
@@LeighAnneMarie Oh my Lord, I think that would kill me. I’m in a little bit of a situation right now. I have 2 brothers, Riley and Gizmo, they’ve been together for 11 years, since we found them(or you could say they found us.) having a fire, Riley comes from out of the darkness, this baby too young to be from a mom. Next morning we found Gizmo and an unnamed sibling; someone had dumped them in a Rubbermaid 40 gal tote and somehow Riley escaped. The third kitten passed away. Well now, all of a sudden, Riley is spraying. He’s fixed, he does use his box, we keep it clean, he’s been to the vet and there’s no health issue. Well my gf whose home they live in wants to take him to a shelter, and I’m like, NO WAY. I understand her position, it’s her home and he’s ruining stuff. But personally I can’t let him go, I can’t break him from his brother, and I just don’t know what to do.

A cat backpack is alot different than a cat carrier. Most cats love a cat backpack. Just make sure you get the right size cat backpack

There was about 2 years in time between when I filmed the cat in the bag video that they featured in and this video. Winnie and Baby Cat were both over 16 years old and passed from old age and Wally had a liver disease that took him from us unexpectedly

Howard is 14 lbs and it was a bit of a tight fit for him. 11 lbs might be fine, but I'd recommend perhaps trying the larger size if possible!

I think it's incredibly selfish to want your cat to travel with you and see all the things that you see. If you have to shove your cat into the pack, something isn't right. Maybe start them out as kittens, do they get used to it when they are young?
Yeah we just experimented with the bag for this short time and haven't used it again since they didn't seem very excited about it. Would definitely have been better to have tried it when they were kittens
