Could you please do a video on Debbie Harry of Blondie? Her style is so entwined with the punk era I think she would be a fascinating study! Love your work💖
Jane Birkin looks very dramatic to me, too! The beveled edges of her frame are the only Natural trait I see. Although many FN typed model types (super dry-lacking both visible muscle & fleshiness, narrow shouldered) appear far more D than FN to my eyes, maybe leaning more towards beveled than angular differentiating them from Dramatics. Feel like the N category is so broad in some ways.
Ali, I love your eye make up in this video! The rest is lovely too, but your eyes look great. I love the subtle colours and the blending. I had quite forgotten that we used to do a solid dark crease line in those far away days! Looks v funny now!
I love how she mixed masculine/feminine styles. There was something quite tomboyish about the 60s mod-style dresses, they were supershort but had no shape to them and didn't accentuate anything but the legs.
Yesss I love and need this idea. So far the only thing I pull off is long line, slim cut blazers in white/cream/etc in linen (and other summer fabrics) over a black sundress 😂

It was so fun hearing you describe my 60s hair! Blonde blunt cut but I used LARGE hair rollers about 3inches wide to set wet hair then a hairdrier you SAT under to dry the hair...they had portable ones you could put on a table. Once dry you brusjed out the large curls ...that gave the hair volume on top and you backcombed...we said teased, the hair at the roots only them smoothed the hair the hair came in under your chin it wasnt as puffymas a bubble which came earlier in the 60s gradually the hair was not as rounded at the bottom as in the picture you show. Everyone wore minidresses shift style as you,show....go go boots ....have you seen videos of go go dancers from that era? THOSE boots...often white. False eyelashes were popular. Everyone wore eyeliner. Red lips were out of fashion, as youmsay, pale lips. Legs were emphasized rather than chest or hips...it was the era of the thin girl...if you were curvy you didnt show it. If a man wasnt a leg man i.e. mostly attracted to legs hendidnt like the look. Men who liked curvy women only got to see what they wanted to see on beaches...well endowed girls in bikinis. That era was all about legs and eyes.
Tihihi.. My grandma, a teenager in the sixties, always said she hated jeans and trousers. So I threatened her with a mini skirt and she was not fazed. She in fact preferred them much to my mortification😂 We're naturally slim in my family and she has a fiery spirit
“Afterparty chic” 🤯 thank you! My three words are “chic, effortless, undone” (three word method) so that makes a lot of sense. IMO mini dresses work well if they’re either sleeveless+boatneck/mock neck or with sleeves+knit/softer appearing fabric. This might depend a little on your limbs though; I have very delicate wrists and narrow ankles for a FN, so I feel like I can pull off slightly more gamine styles.
The reason why Jane Birkin took a straw basket with her everywhere is because she said that she couldn't find a bag to carry all of her stuff. That's when she met an executive at Hermès who ended up designing the famous Birkin handbag so that Jane could carry a bag big enough for all her things. Also, that photo of her with the short, boyish hair is from the low budget film that Gainsbourg made starring Birkin as a weird tomboy who falls in love with a creepy Joe Dallesandro of Andy Warhol fame. The film is called Je t'aime moi non plus, just like the title of Gainsbourg's and Birkin's infamous sexy song with all of that moaning. So I guess they wanted to capitalize on the fame of that song and transform it into a silly soft porn film. The song is better. Though it's a thoroughly dumb movie, Birkin is great in anything!
I’m so relieved to have seen this video. I couldn’t figure out what type I was, but she and I have the same body type, height, and even face shape/features. (She is far more beautiful though!) People even assume I’m taller than I actually if they happen to see a photo. Thank you so much Aly!!
@@h0rriphic the thing that helped me figure my type out once and for all (FN) is realising that I look much better with messy hair, slightly smudgy makeup (after party style haha) but terrible with like simple classic low down ponytail or so...
@@leahrenz2113 Ahh thank you so much! I look a bit more like myself with a slightly “lived in/disheveled” look as well. Thank you again for the clarification, I really appreciate it.
Jane Birkin was a Dramatic and an actress that morphed into different personas through her career from Lolita Ingenue in the 60s , to Hippy Natural in the 70s and even Androgynous in the 80s , she just adopted and developed the eaay going Natural essence as her style .
I'm a flamboyant natural and when I was in my young 20 and didn't know who Jane Birking was I used to wear same haircut and dress like that too hehe but it was something instinctively , I always felt great in non feminine clothing, anything with flowers , puffiness , with too many little details never felt good on my and I use to love playing with some male garment, like big suit jackets , love to wear 90 style of jeans a little bit baggy , but I also like the skinny jeans too... i think I'm a flamboyant natural as a main characteristic but I also have a lot of drama since I'm really tall and skinny but in an athletic way... So sometimes I like to wear full suits for parties ( including a bow tie. I like that when going out and feeling like wanting some drama but in daily life i'm a pure Natural flamboyant I dont even brush my hair and just woke up like this kind of style. Feel very close to everything on this video.
Hello Aly! Thank you so much for the amazing videos. You are helping me discover my beauty, something I did not think I had. Can I ask: your top is so cute. Where did you get it?
Aly you have helped me as I hone my signature style, and I appreciate it. Your videos and your perspective on the Kibbe types have really been wonderful and have helped so many things make sense. As I’m watching your videos I’m thinking yeah that’s why I never felt comfortable in - full in the blank. Thanks girl!
I think it’s so interesting to read the comments saying that they would look like a homeless person with a style like this. This is my style and it works best on me. I feel like I always look best when I’m not trying too hard. Whenever I’m all dolled up I look kind of off. It just doesn’t suit me. So I guess I really am a natural! I am just not sure where I fall on the natural spectrum. My face is softer/yin but my body is more yang.
I love this series! Great idea and I loved all the episodes you’ve uploaded so far. I’m happy to find a UA-camr who appreciates the beauty and glamor of those beauty icons
Ally, I love you videos so much! They are really helping me understand my body and find my style! Do you have any tips for Dramatics that prefer to wear shorts or short skirts instead of long pants/skirts?
I think this is the only celebrity I'm similar to. I didn't know much about her style but that's how I normally dress I try to style basic shirts by tucking in a little bit of the front part in my jeans. It makes a big difference somehow. 🤷♀️
Off topic, but I think it would be amazing if Aly in some time could do seires on perfect hair for body types (like she did with make up, every body type in separate video) Aly, you btw look amazing, and never fail to amaze me 💋🌹😊
Thank you for this video! I love Jane Birkin's style but unless it's a button down or T-shirt and high-waist jeans, her outfits never looked great on me. Now I know it's because I have a classic body type and face/vibe---no wonder! I'm currently re-imagining my core wardrobe and these videos are such a help. 🙂
Thank for helping me to understand this! I didn’t even know about Kibbe! It’s helping me to feel more comfortable in my own choices and create some new ones! 🤩☺️
i'd like to know something! I'm a flamboyant natural but am really small 5,1 ft and I feel like it puts me more in the FGamine side but I have a rather broad upperbody but don't appear very tall although my facial structure ressembles that of a FN. So does this cut me out of the FN group or am i rather a FG. I took the Kibbe test and it the result is always Flamboyant Natural
I feel like Jane Birkin is more on the natural side of flamboyant natural. When she dresses more flamboyant, like in the boho style, the clothes more or less take over. She's not tall enough to pull that off. I think when she dresses all natural, she looks her best. Maybe even natural with some classical influences. Perhaps she is a natural in stead of FN. It's funny though how there is an overlap also between FN and gamine, in the quirky statements of weird proportions. Love this series! I hope you will do Caroline de Maigret one day!
I think in some cases there can be a higher percentage of a certain type in some places, for example, there are probably a lot of Ds, SDs and FNs in Scandinavian countries and those of Scandinavian descent as they tend to be comparatively taller. But ultimately I think anyone of any race can be any type. What are your thoughts?
No,in my opinion is more related to ethnicity, for example zin african coutries is common to have romantics or gamines and soft natural (majority but mostly are there because many moen are short, and in europe, taller women are more common so maybe DC,FN and D familes are common.
Wow! Always taught she was a Flambouyant Gamine! She does have the "wake up like this aura" that we Naturals have. I can also perceive blunt lines on her face, however I do struggle to see her "broadness" and these blunt lines on her body.
and this is why kibbe confuses me, I can never seem to find my body type. I only know I'm definitely not romantic or gamine, but that's pretty much it.
Can you please compare all the "short" body types in one video (I am only 5'1")? I am very confused about where I land in the Kibbe system. I have a very fleshy short body but my face isn't fleshy or round.
I can't really tell wich body type I am. because I am skinny so of course I'm gonna have sharp features,, and I've never been able to gain weight to know how I'd look like
I saw a documentary about her recently - she was an interesting person with an interesting life, for sure. Very likeable as well. That being said...why, oh why do I have to be (flamboyant) natural body type? It's the one type, where I do not like the recommended style of clothes (or the hairstyles, for that matter), at all. I like dramatic and gamine. Classic would be ok, too. But not natural 😆
I feel you, I'm FG and I loooove FN styles like Jane's in this video but whenever I " dress up" like her I look bulky and much shorter and wider and it just doesn't look good :/
@@somebody7070 I just always feel sloppy and like I'm not making an effort in clothes for naturals - even though, they do suit me. I love the drama and elegance of the dramatic style and the playfullness and cuteness of gamine. Clothes for Naturals are very 'meh', imo.
She knew Hermes well already. That's why she could have that conversation with Jean-Lois Dumas (the 'man on the plane'). JB & SG were already good customers.
Loved this. Pretty off topic question, I've got a round face and soft baby like features which makes me look wayyyyy younger than I am like Selena Gomez. Any tips to actually look older .? (or for me my age) I'm in early thirties.
@@dollyrevenge98 Oh, Aly has this in her "signature looks" and signature dresses for body types videos, also there are some other great youtubers that cover these topics, like Elyssa and Meriam Style I shot, it is thise broken stakato lines, where yin (soft, traditional y feminine) and yang (sharp, angular, traditionally masculine) lines lie in contrast with each other, just like the gamines are not some kind of a linear balanced mic of those features, but have all of those features puzzled in with each other. For example colour blocks, broken out patterns, one half fitted and one half looser, but still with a clear outline, higher colars and necklines, or low necklines in a sharp geometric shape. Boufant dresses and sleeves fitted at the wrist and pandt fitted at the waist and ankle but then looser in between... for example i have sharp brows (yang, huge childlike eyes yin i guess, button nose yin, pointed chin yang It is all brokent out and in contrast, it is not like a mix with classic where they are neither sharp nor soft, you know what I mean? I have a small stature, I atick to small details, like if i was bying stripes or polka dots smaller always looks better on me. Shortor long pleated akirt, fitted at the waist, but with a clear outlined shape for example. Look at Audrey Hepburn in a long 50s new look kind of skirt for example. IDK if any of this makes sense, again, better look into these videos of people that are doing it on a professional level. Now notice how I was talking only about lines. Colours and patterns can be whatever fits your essence. They can be boyish or serious or girly or pastel or dark or florals or dots or animated... the contrast can be between shapes, between texturres of fabrics, between even neutral colours. The point is to have some contrast, to have some staccato, to have smaller details... Hope this helps and i did not confuse you even more

If a man wasnt a leg man i.e. mostly attracted to legs hendidnt like the look. Men who liked curvy women only got to see what they wanted to see on beaches...well endowed girls in bikinis. That era was all about legs and eyes.
Cool story :) I loved reading this!
Thank you !!!!
Love love love this cut on you with the platinum color! 😍😍
These style review videos are fabulous, and such a good way to understand the Kibbe types! I would love to see one on young Anjelica Houston 😍😁
As a classic type I am SOOOO jealous of natural types 😭 I wish I could dress this relaxed and look my best
I think the same thing as a TR 😭😭
As a FN, I wish I were classic because I love the timeless collegiate prep look!
@@StraightEdge01I wish I was TR.
Jane Birkin is so gorgeous love this video
I’m so relieved to have seen this video. I couldn’t figure out what type I was, but she and I have the same body type, height, and even face shape/features. (She is far more beautiful though!) People even assume I’m taller than I actually if they happen to see a photo. Thank you so much Aly!!
I'm confused as I always thought she was Dramatic Classic 😂
@@katiechasm guess I’m back to square one then...😑
@@h0rriphic the thing that helped me figure my type out once and for all (FN) is realising that I look much better with messy hair, slightly smudgy makeup (after party style haha) but terrible with like simple classic low down ponytail or so...
@@leahrenz2113 Ahh thank you so much! I look a bit more like myself with a slightly “lived in/disheveled” look as well. Thank you again for the clarification, I really appreciate it.
@@h0rriphic ah no worries at all, glad it was helpful!
Jane Birkin was a Dramatic and an actress that morphed into different personas through her career from Lolita Ingenue in the 60s , to Hippy Natural in the 70s and even Androgynous in the 80s , she just adopted and developed the eaay going Natural essence as her style .
Please do Anita Pallenberg Aly ❤ also Marianne Faithfull and Jean Shrimpton
I love her style so much, she's 1 of my favorites, unfortunately I'm SD with a larger chest so I can't really wear it myself lol.
Can you make a video about pixie haircuts?
Hello Aly! Thank you so much for the amazing videos. You are helping me discover my beauty, something I did not think I had. Can I ask: your top is so cute. Where did you get it?
Thank you! Target! ))))) Amazing top, double fabric at the chest area ))
@@AlyArt Thank you so much! I'm going online to look right now :-)
Almost every time Ally describes a body type I’m like “yes that’s me”... 🙄 I just cannot find my type
From your picture you look like a N or FN, maybe DC if you’re not too tall.
Haha that was me until last December. "C... definitely C. No, SC... DC!! But I would like to a a FN..." And finally I am FN LOL
It took me two years to find out I'm an FN.
Soft natural.
I love this series! Great idea and I loved all the episodes you’ve uploaded so far. I’m happy to find a UA-camr who appreciates the beauty and glamor of those beauty icons
Yes!!!
Ally, I love you videos so much! They are really helping me understand my body and find my style!
Do you have any tips for Dramatics that prefer to wear shorts or short skirts instead of long pants/skirts?
Please do this series for all the types 😍 I love it
I think this is the only celebrity I'm similar to. I didn't know much about her style but that's how I normally dress
I try to style basic shirts by tucking in a little bit of the front part in my jeans. It makes a big difference somehow. 🤷♀️
Thank you, Aly, for this video. I love your videos. Will you be adding a summer style for FN, as well?
Off topic, but I think it would be amazing if Aly in some time could do seires on perfect hair for body types (like she did with make up, every body type in separate video)
Aly, you btw look amazing, and never fail to amaze me 💋🌹😊
Love your videos! Keep it up Aly Art!
Can you do a makeup tutorial of this look please and thank you?! 🙌
Thank for helping me to understand this! I didn’t even know about Kibbe! It’s helping me to feel more comfortable in my own choices and create some new ones! 🤩☺️
Yes to videos on kibbe types!
Would Francois Hardy fall into this type?
i'd like to know something!
FYI, the links to the bodytypes and Instagram posts aren’t working.
I love you and your content! Learning about style on your channel truly makes my day.
Love! ❤️
Your hair looks amazing and much shinier - what's your trick?
That dot on hair we call the crown 👑
You are doing a great work Aly! I love this series, keep up! 🤍
I'm more Yin than FG, and I don't have width. But! I can pull off some of her styles and that makes me happy.
Would you do a video about Dita Von Tease ?
Omg, you read my mind, love. That would be amazing if she could do that 😊
this is such an amazing series!! so so fun to watch and learn!! thank you for posting these, Aly
I think Jane is a true natural :)
@@emmaphilo4049 I think so too, to be honest.
Everyone lies on the spectrum of kibble, it's very rare for someone to be a solid type.
Pretty sure I’ve just seen you singing insanely awesome in Ken Tamplin’s channel covering Janis Joplin! Damn that was absolutely beautiful!
Oh wait I just discovered you have a whole channel with cover songs LOL *gonna check it out
Please do Romy Schneider!
Thanks Aly! Please do Anna Karina and Natalie Wood
I'd like to see videos about Brigitte Bardot ⚘Catherine Deneuve ❤ and Anita Ekberg. 🌹
Thank you very much for your great videos. Very helpful. Do you think is there a relationship between body types and skin tones?
I think in some cases there can be a higher percentage of a certain type in some places, for example, there are probably a lot of Ds, SDs and FNs in Scandinavian countries and those of Scandinavian descent as they tend to be comparatively taller. But ultimately I think anyone of any race can be any type. What are your thoughts?
No,in my opinion is more related to ethnicity, for example zin african coutries is common to have romantics or gamines and soft natural (majority but mostly are there because many moen are short, and in europe, taller women are more common so maybe DC,FN and D familes are common.
Love this video! Thanks for all you do
I love her style
Can you please compare all the "short" body types in one video (I am only 5'1")? I am very confused about where I land in the Kibbe system. I have a very fleshy short body but my face isn't fleshy or round.
When I am looking in my face and body I am not sure if I am natural or classic, what are the main differences?
Yeeeey😻 new video!!!
Can I be FN if I need waist emphasis in my outfits, at least a slightly one?
I've been wondering the same. I feel like I look too square if I don't emphasize my waist. That could just be my body dysmorphia though.
Define,yes,but emphasis, no.
Great video! 😊
It’s that time 😍
I can't really tell wich body type I am. because I am skinny so of course I'm gonna have sharp features,, and I've never been able to gain weight to know how I'd look like
Do a video on a soft natural celeb
I saw a documentary about her recently - she was an interesting person with an interesting life, for sure. Very likeable as well.
That being said...why, oh why do I have to be (flamboyant) natural body type? It's the one type, where I do not like the recommended style of clothes (or the hairstyles, for that matter), at all. I like dramatic and gamine. Classic would be ok, too. But not natural 😆
She is still alive! And still an interesting person!
I feel you, I'm FG and I loooove FN styles like Jane's in this video but whenever I " dress up" like her I look bulky and much shorter and wider and it just doesn't look good :/
I am a SG. I will gladly switch with you. I love the natural lines, and it's all the rage right now so it's easy to shop for.

Oh, ha. It never occurred to me, to check 😄

I just always feel sloppy and like I'm not making an effort in clothes for naturals - even though, they do suit me.
This video was great!
If you will be talking about contemporary celebrities, I'd suggest Carey Mulligan. I'm forever confused about her type.
Love this kind of video!!
Love this... thank you!❤
As a Romantic, I'd probably look like I need medical attention if I tried this style. Looks good on Jane though.
Hande ercel is a turkish actress , she looks gorgeous in every style , i am wandering what's her body type !
Ah to be a woman not needing a bra... My DD cups could never go out like that
Cannot even remember how it is not having back pain

Loved this. Pretty off topic question, I've got a round face and soft baby like features which makes me look wayyyyy younger than I am like Selena Gomez. Any tips to actually look older .? (or for me my age) I'm in early thirties.
I am also interested in this. I found that still following my SG lines makes me look more my age than trying "serious" clothes
@@hypatiakovalevskayasklodow9195 Oh what do you mean by SG lines if you don't mind me asking ? :)
@@dollyrevenge98 Oh, Aly has this in her "signature looks" and signature dresses for body types videos, also there are some other great youtubers that cover these topics, like Elyssa and Meriam Style
I shot, it is thise broken stakato lines, where yin (soft, traditional y feminine) and yang (sharp, angular, traditionally masculine) lines lie in contrast with each other, just like the gamines are not some kind of a linear balanced mic of those features, but have all of those features puzzled in with each other. For example colour blocks, broken out patterns, one half fitted and one half looser, but still with a clear outline, higher colars and necklines, or low necklines in a sharp geometric shape. Boufant dresses and sleeves fitted at the wrist and pandt fitted at the waist and ankle but then looser in between... for example i have sharp brows (yang, huge childlike eyes yin i guess, button nose yin, pointed chin yang
It is all brokent out and in contrast, it is not like a mix with classic where they are neither sharp nor soft, you know what I mean?
