The main purpose of the stop button is to make more money. If the spins last six seconds, stopping it after 1 second allows you to play a lot faster. Increasing your losses and encouraging you to spend more money in a shorter time.
if this was true all slot machines would instantly reveal their choices and not even spin. the true function is to give the impression that the user influenced the machiene when in reality they played no part

Jorge Gaytan They need to visually attract you instantly showing the results would be less exciting for most people so they wouldn’t use it however making it stop faster just increases the excitement because you can keep going faster. Also the illusion of control does help too

Love the videos in this small series. I started watching them some years back, when I was getting addicted to going to the casino playing slots all the time. Good video, same goes for bonuses and features - on some machines/slots you can exit and enter again and the feature is completed and money just added to account - it's already determined how much you win your can't "make the right/wrong choices"
The main purpose of the stop button is to get more games in in a shorter space of time. This is useful for serious/degenerate players who don't want to waste time waiting to see an already determined outcome. It's also very good for the casino.
The purpose is to give people the feeling they have some kind of control over the outcome, making people feel as if there is an optimal strategy to win more, while it's all an illusion to work on people's behaviour and addiction to make money.
And all this time I was under the impression that the "Stop- Button" really Mattered😂

First off the stop button does it fact effect your outcome, when u hit spin it gathers numbers from a pool of numbers at random, so timing on ur spin is everything, therefore if you wait for each spin your next spin will be different from one that you made stop.
No when you hit spin the final random numbers are selected, it doesn't matter when you hit the stop button after that the outcome was already determined the moment you hit spin - as per the video.
briancullenav I have noticed when I hit the stop button, I will see symbols that I want to have stop, but they then disappear and other symbols show up on the screen. That happens with a lot of machines, but some other machines, I stop it and it seems to work. And I get a bonus or a lot of same symbols. I think that's what they want us to think then. If we think we have some semblance of "control" it makes us keep playing. Last time I stopped it and I won 700.00 dollars, and then I upped my bet, kept stopping it, but not every time, but proceeded to PUT THE DAMN MONEY BACK!! THATS WHAT THEY WANT. AHHHHHHHHHH, ANGER. My fault. I could have walked out with 1,200.00 dollars. But no, I was in that horrid "zone".
What the OP is saying here is although the outcome is determined at the moment the player hits spin, the stop will affect what moment the player will hit the next spin, so the stop does affect the outcome indirectly, even though it still does not give the player any control over the outcome.

On jackpot with wheels and a stop button, the wheels seem to stop immediately. Therefore, it seems impossible to stop on a pre-determined position. Is the stop button really influencing the result in this case?
actually there is another reason for the 'stop' button. it allows the casinos to get in more "spins per hour". for example, if it takes 6 seconds for a game to end normally, you will get 10 spins per minute, and 600 spins per hour. if you hit the stop button, it may take only 3 seconds for a game to end, which will allow for 20 spins per minute or 1,200 spins per hour. since the odds are 'pre-determined', the more spins per hour means more money for the casino

I realized how factual this was when watching people play a bank of 5 treasures machines..i noticed that whenever a person got the chance to select a jackpot coin(mini..minor..major..grand)..as soon as the screen popped up for them to "randomly" select a coin...id look over at the adjacent machines and see that whichever progressive jackpot they were going to win..had already reset..but yet there they were pondering and focusing still trying to choose. actually another reason for the stop button is to make the casino owners "More Money". for example, if you are able to get 3 spins per minute without using the stop button, that would be 180 spins per hour. now if someone is using the stop button, they may get 3 1/4 spins per minute which will be 195 spins per hour. now if someone is real fast at tapping the button, they may get 4 spins per minute which would now be 240 spins per hour. the casino has an advantage (on average) per spin anywhere from 1% to 20% (in Illinois, my state) for every dollar wagered and the more spins per hour the larger the casino profit
It's only real purpose is to give the player the illusion of control. pretty common thing in game design where we give the player something that seemingly influences an outcome while it is already predetermined.

I created this strategy at the yonkers raceway since it first opened.
I didn't think computers could do anything at "random" because every action is part of a specific algorithm.
The program says: Generate an x digit number that is tied to a database of millions of results. The computer then displays the results to the player. Nothing is truly random and it's absurd to get something to be truly random.
That's why they have the random number generator which is circuitry that samples the amplified noise in a circuit. Is anything truly random, can it be influenced from outside? I think the first is still debatable and yes there is a way on the second.
Most modern slots use a double seed instead of a single seed as shown.
Knowing when to hit the stop button makes a difference... most people hit the stop button too early... the outcome will be the same... there's no Advantage that way it just speeds up the game!

Well I thought I would mention it since no one else did, the other benefit to the stop button is that you get to hit the spin butter that much sooner, which changes the outcome of the random numbers generated.

Well say what'd you like, when you press the start button at any point in time there is always going to be a random sequence number event occurring. Pressing the start button that much sooner doesn't mean it's going to make you win, it means there are going to be a different sequence of random numbers selected vs. pushing the start button after the reels stop spinning. Well there is another "fuction" of the stop button which the video forgets to mention. And its quite important. If the player uses the stop button he will almost slways play more spin per minute and since the odds are stacked against the player he/she will increase the profitability of the slot machine.
Stopping bet earlier and rapid betting can get you the good pays.

There are slots that I have played where hitting the stop button clearly stops the reels on at least close to what I wanted. there is a game I play that has wilds, and when I hit the stop button it usually stops the wilds close to where I hit the button.

All slot machines need to go through a certification/verification phase with a third party such as BMM, GLI, or Eclipse just to name a few. Thats where they will emulate every single reel possibility. They will go into the code and change the variables memory location to emulate every single reel possibility before the game even stops. @@Sielose I see you have no idea how computer software works. You cannot compare a real game of chance, like physical dice or cards, to a computer program. I know, because I'm a software designer, and I've written a few poker-playing programs. The simple fact is that it is extremely easy to program the game to secretly re-roll any winning results, if the winning result would cause the machine to go over it's predetermined payout ratio. Because the computer program can re-roll any result, it is cheating. It is the digital equivalent of being able to keep drawing cards from the poker deck until you get the hand you want.
If you are still not convinced, think of it this way: flip a coin 4 times. Based solely on mathematical odds, you should get a total of 2 heads and 2 tails every time. However, in real life, you only get this result half the time. A gambling machine program, on the other hand, will repeat the set of flips until it has exactly 2 heads and 2 tails. In fact, scratch-off tickets use this method to ensure that there are an exact number of winners in each printed batch. Now, the person who buys the winning ticket is random, but the tickets themselves are not truly random.

There are cases and videos of double jackpots or very high payouts. Thats why when you hit a jackpot or winning a high hand payout, you never pull out of that machine without doing at least few back up spins.

It's true you can get bonuses pressing stop button but it doesn't give you any jackpots, don't bother using it
the reason you (may seem) to get more bonuses is you get more spins per hour...for example if the machine is programmed to get a bonus every 50 spins on average, if you let the reels spin till they end, you may only get 150-200 spins per hour but if you press the stop button, you may increase the spins per hour to between 200-300 per hour thereby increasing the number of bonuses you see per hour

An irl buddy works at Play N Go as a dev, they always list their RTP, they host all their slots, casinos online are basically a 3rd party site that either rents or licenses the slot. % of profit goes to slot provider and rest to casino provider.

Example : it'll say touch screen until you find a skeleton lets say, then you pick 2 free spins and 3rd one was a skelton. Then now pick for multiplier x (whatever amount you pick). So now you pick a 1x, 2x, 4x, 1x, 2x, 4x then BAM you matched a 1x multiplier. So you get 2 spins with a 1x multiplier......

I totally disagree. I played an online game that by carefully stopping the last reel based on watching where it starts you could trigger a bonus if you already had 2 bonus symbols showing. It wasn’t easy but it was definitely not landing the same as it would had it not been pressed.
This video does not cover how online slot machines work. However you would have to carefully analyze the entire code of the online machine to truly understand how it works.
All this tells you is that it is pre-determined randomness and that the button is only there as an accessory.

@@briancullen13 have you noticed how the start/stop button on the majority of the new machines are next to the max bet button. If you don't pay attention you might hit the wrong button. However 2 or 3 times I hit the max button by mistake and I happened to get the bonus and ended getting the grand jackpots. Just play luck. No skill involved no being able to predict the outcome.

Machines do two things now. One? They have a sensor when you are sitting there. Two? They "eat down your ticket". Next time you are in a casino and the machines gone dead? Cash Out, get up as if to stretch your legs but move to the side. Put CASH back in, not your ticket, make sure your players card is removed. 7-8 times out of 10? It will start to hit again, thinking it's a new player. Done it 1000's of times :)

i've worked for casinos as a slot technician and had to submit all the program chips to the state gaming board for approval and to make sure the random number generator (RNG) worked properly. the state has a computer that checks that each stop comes up the predetermined time and has an even chance to come up

This is totally misleading. If the random number generator worked this way there would be no way to control the payout percentage of each machine. Maybe that can be explained.
ron celano the machine is set to payout a certain percentage of what it takes in. High payout casinos do around 95-97 percent payout and they advertise it. This is mandated by law. How and when they payout is up to the machine. This does not mean you will take back that much of what you spend. Even when a slot machine paysout $1 at a spin, thats still a payout.
Actually it's function is to stop it and redetermine. So you can use it to your advantage. If you know how to successfully tap at the right times which is pretty much controlling the destination of your outcomes you can influence if by as much as possible but you will need to go further into the denoms to see where that combo is hidden from plain sight. Theoretically speaking, you can try this on the low denoms especially if you see dead spins, use the 5~7 rule of quickspin switch denoms and try it again until you find the loose spot. You can then run the spins for more by stopping it quicker but again at this point you are governed by milliseconds so it's very vital to have more funds if you do use this method. I know they all say the opposite like it's predetermined. Okay so if it is then you should be able to find it. Just imagine a technician troubleshooting it. Don't you think they'd have a way of making it come up? Of course.

Randomly hitting the stop button doesn't do any good for the player it just speeds up the game... that's the worst way to use the stop button... reals spin from left to right... it's the third or fourth or fifth wheel you want to stop to lineup... to hit the bonus win... some machines don't have a stop button at all!

Ok people. Let's get to the truth about slot machines. Unlike some people who put out videos about slot machines who really dont play much or dont play at all, I have been playing slots for years and on a regular basis. The information given about the random number generator is true in that the outcome is determined by the exact timing of hitting the spin button. Where they are mistaken is that the reels spin to that location and the outcome is changed by the stop button because the reels stop in mid spin at the location when you hit the stop button. There are a few slots that I have played for hours at a time and have figured out where the scatters are on some of the reels and can predict whether or not it will land on that scatter while its spinning. I have experimented on these machines by letting the spins continue to their predetermined outcomes. The result was that the machine did exactly what its programmed to do. It would "tease" you with the first two scatters, but not land on the third, which would give you the bonus. During this experiment I got two scatters, but didnt get the third 27 times. This was over the course of hundreds of spins. I then tried stopping the reels after getting the first two scatters and started catching the third scatter and getting the bonus. I have had dozens of occassions where I was playing a slot machine and was getting the bonus 2 or 3 times more often than my neighbor playing the same slot. When they commented on my "luck", I would explain that I was stopping the reels and changing the outcome. The people who tried this method would start hitting the bonus more often and often started winning money when they previously weren't winning. Now halving explained all of this, you must understand that getting in the bonus is not a guarantee of big wins, but it does increase your chances. Some of my biggest hand pays were partly a result of stopping the reels and catching extra retriggers. Even though I have had some success using this method, I must remind you that the house always has the edge and winning at slots is still mostly a matter of luck. Hope this info helps.
There is a "reason" why there a multi lines or "lanes" but these people will tell you otherwise seems like they know something you don't unless you've tried it and had success and may want to hide it from the public with swaying otherwise. They are hidden in higher denoms but you can be a scout and look for the penny ones too. Like most progressives you can find it by switching which is the reason why casinos profit because a unintelligent gambler who wants to just "experience" the slots will go for fun and excitement. The real pro looks for the exact timing and where they hide their reel unlocks after a certain amount of spins. So yes that is why it's just like that. You just have to know "when" the spins to come up are about to hit. Something you can do to track is definitely the progressive jackpots but another is looking for a hot machine that's right beside or opposite of you. It's almost like a game against other gamblers which is why people hog two seats but can only do it to the one they are beside.

Why is it then that I can play a machine and not stop it and hit nothing, yet when I hit the stop button every time, I hit, especially the free games feature, which I didn't it in $50? I believe that the extent of today's technology is beyond what any of us even know. Remember, we have self-teaching and smarter computers. If a phone can be programmed to turn on another phone's camera on the other side of the globe, why wouldn't a slot machine be programmable to hit when it's told to or has learned to? It is ridiculous to think this isn't possible. Go to a casino at 5pm or when they start their weekly, must be in attendance, drawings. They usually run about four hours with a drawing every hour. From the casino owner's perspective, wouldn't it make sense to allow the machines to award more frequent and more prosperous spins? Sure it would because those fine folks who only show up on Saturday, spend a meager amount, check their watches, and wander aimlessly awaiting the next hourly drawing. If the casino ups their chances of hitting a nice amount, there is a higher percentage than not that they will get the fever and push through the doors one day through the week because it happened once, it can happen again. But, on that middle of the week visit the machine, often times the same machine they hit on, just doesn't seem to be hitting anything. Coincidence? Maybe. More likely, to me, is the casino can control every aspect of that machine and no one even has to be present. Is there a way to know for sure? There are so many videos out there that tell their story as fact, but how do we really know which one, if any, are right? Why don't we see videos made by the makers, both hard and software? Why is it all such a mystery? Why is it easier just to believe the random theory? Is it because that event that took place that one time that proved it couldn't be random can easily be explained away or justified because it was random. I'll give you my most recent example: I started with $5 and was hitting 8 out of 10 spins and soon I was up to $600. I feel good because I know this isn't random. Then, all of a sudden, my machine goes dark and there's nothing. Upset? Well, yeah. I wait a total of 45 minutes for the machine to come to life again. Sooner time waits are available if you are quiet and dumb. The lights pop back on after watching the obvious attendant fiddle with nothing for 30 minutes. Are they watching to see how observant I am? Low and behold the machine comes on in the same spin it left on, nothing has changed, well, except one thing: after spinning through 200 of those 600 bucks, nothing happened, no wins. Isn't that odd? Is that random?
