    This may be the case for much older actual reel slot machines, but for 90% of machines today, they are all working very differently. Any machine with virtual reels, and even some newer ones with actual reels, work with an RNG that gets determined the moment you hit the spin button. This number corresponds to specific predetermined set of reel positions, so instead of each reel spinning on its own randomly, they all spin to a combined position that corresponds to the win determined with the RNG. So the random number generated gets looked up in a table, that table says that number corresponds to a 1x win, and it displays a set of reel positions that correspond to a 1x win on the paytable.

    How did you determine the frequency table? One thing that I'm trying to understand is how to generate reel strips in relation to a Return To Player ratio that may be used at a casino (e.g. RTP of 96%).

    at 0:45 you show reels with 21, 24 and 23 symbols. and later in the video you calculate total combinations by 20*20*20.

      anyone knows why is that?

    • @Sielose
      @Sielose 4 роки тому

      in the beginning he mentions "this slotmachine has 3 reels with 20 possible results", that is why.
      the thing with the 21, 23 symbols is relevant for the payout between the symbols

      I know it's been 4 years since the original post, but I'm not sure what you mean by "payout between the symbols".
      I still don't understand. With 20 stops on the reels, how can you have more than 20 symbols on a reel? I heard the "more than one symbol" thing, but I've never seen a stop with a 7 and an orange on it, and I've been looking for one.

    How did you calculate the possible combinations for the last two i.e [Cherry, Cherry, Any] and [Cherry, Any, Any] , my calculation for [Cherry, Cherry, Any] is 2X6X23=276, 23 is because this are all the possible combinations on reel 3. If the reason is because of 20 possible positions on reel 3 then [Cherry, Any, Any] would work out to be 2X20X20=800, but your answer is 560? A bit lost on how the [Any] combinations should be calculated. Thx for the video.

    Hey there! Not sure if someone gonna answer, but I'm curious how you determine each frequency of symbols ? Did you get that data from a ressource or did you determine that on yourself ? I'm currently building a game and I'm wondering how do I determine the frequency of each symbol to hit the 95% of RTR ? Got 3 rows, 5 columns, 10 symbols and 1 wild.

    The overlooked fact of the 94 percent payout is that is for the life cycle of the machine. Who's to say for a steady month it has only 10 percent payout before bumping back to 94 for a bit. For instance. If the average of a machine is at 84 percent currently and they are gonna get rid of that machine, legally they would have to pay out of it til it's back to the legal percent payout before removing it. Thoughts?

    • @Johanlob1
      @Johanlob1 3 роки тому

      No

    •  3 роки тому +3

      You don't re-build or re-program the machine for it to change RTP over time.
      You just calculate it to have a steady RTP of anyhwere in the 80%-95% range and that's it. Of course after let's say first 1000 spins in the lifetime of the machine, the actual retrurn might end up being like 70% or 105% because of how small the spin sample is, but after one million spins the odds converge to the calculated RTP pretty accurately.

    This math is wrong, because å slot machine use a virtual reel for each physical reel and virtual reels have many more potential stops/combination than the physical reels. And it is the rng generator and the virtual reels that predetermine the outcome of each spin. The physical reels are only for visual display to the player and does not determine any outcome.

      The algorithm was calculated before they built the first slot machine. The reels might be physical but the amount of symbols on them correspond to the programing behind them using the algorithm.

      Fredrik Waldt he’s actually wrong when he calculates the totals, I mean try it yourself, for orange orange and bar it’s not 25, but 125, because you have to remember that there’s 3 ways of arranging (o, o, b) so you have to add up all three possibilities. And also, where does he get 20*20*20 from? It should be 21*24*23 because he clearly said that each reel has a different amount of symbols.

    Do they rely 100% on probability or do they add in code to guarantee that after X number of plays it will payout a jackpot and guarantee that it will not payout a jackpot any more frequently than a specific amount? I found the answer here ua-cam.com/video/7Wkubf1PrWg/v-deo.html (no they are random and rely on statistics.)
    You can technically win a jackpot every single play, while a 100% identical machine may NEVER payout a any wins at all.

    OK so here in Aristralia, ahem Australia how is it that after 3-5 years of gambling on slots we lose 100% of our money 99.9% of the time. Obviously it couldn't be that our government who profits 40% from each machine is also the auditors of those machines, cause that would be illegal wouldn't it.
    During lock down the gaming industry stated they were losing 36 million a day, first thing that opened, funny that

    •  3 роки тому

      It's just math. If the machine's return to player (RTP) is 95%, it means that if you start with a balance of $100 and pay a $1 for every spin, you should end up with approx. $95 after first 100 spins.
      Then if you continue playing with what you currently have, you'll have $90.25 after another 100 spins, $85.70, $81.50, $77.35 and so on and so on.
      The machines are always calculated to have the RTP be below 100%, usually being in the 80%-95% range.
      The probability is against you, so the longer you play, the more money you lose, eventually losing up everything.

      Theoretically, it's also possible to flip a fair coin for 1,000,000 years and not get tails - but it is highly improbable. Incidentally, if you only play the slot machine 1 time in 1,000,000 years the odds are also pretty high you will not win. A computerized slot machine can be programmed to do anything, but it is highly illegal, and a casino can lose their gaming license for cheating the algorithm.

    This is a bunch of crap. Even if each reel had 50 winning jackpot symbols and only one losing symbol if the computer tells the machine to payout only once in every million spins that will be as how often it pays out. The symbols don't do anything. They're just a display to show you whether you win or lose on each particular thing. His calculations only apply to the machines they stopped using about 40 or 50 years ago.

If anyone ever builds a slott machine that works the way you describe, you will be correct for that singular machine.

      Your are completely wrong, I work with slot machines. There are lots of tests and serious certifications on the games to verify that they are not corrupted. Operating without theses certifications is ilegal for the casino and the manufacturer and can result on imprisonment. The machines you see in casinos, specially in places such US and EU are strictly Lab tested on their math algorithms.
