Seems that have having a payout rate itself should be illegal. It’s wrong for the machine itself prevents a win instead of player skill.

Nice video! Where I used to work we would take out a prize on the top and middle row to make it look as though they had been won. Also, each level is a separate pay-out and not all locations change the prize value for each level. This means that if one level pays out, the other 2 will pay out pretty much at the same time. Still, this game is VERY difficult.

We had these at Disney, but the payout was nearly nonexistent. First, none of the prizes are in the boxes, there's a card with a code to redeem. This company has been sued in numerous states. I tested this machine extensively, even placing one in a busy Cast Member break room on free play and programmed it for a high payout. It paid out 3 times. I found the issue in programming, it can't be programmed out, I called the company. They told me. When you push the insert button just before the key reaches the hole, it almost imperceptibly jukes up. We removed them.

I actually got the key through the hole once, but the key just came right out, rather than turning upside-down and taking the prize with it. I cry every time.

I won a game similar to this once and went for an Xbox controller, however the thing was jacked up and I had to pick a different prize. Ended up contacting the machine company and they sent me the controller as well

I just played this game, and the key actually went through, skinned, then came back out. But the Nintendo switch didnt come out smh... I'm pissed, I went to the Skyzone manager and they said to contact the vending company. I called went to voicemail then I sent an e-mail. I better get something because I'm livid.

This should be not be legal. For the user, the game appears like a game of skill, while it is actually a game of luck. That's fraud IMO. They should have to place a huge sticker onto it: Mostly based on luck, not skill!

This makes sense. Whenever I visit a place with a keymaster, nobody there wins. But: One prize isn't there, or, they are aiming for a prize in the highest row. Therefore, what you said in the video explains why that is. Thank you, now I can strategize correctly.

The local Round 1 in my area has one of the Key Master machines but it operates differently. Instead of the joystick to move the mechanism, it has a button you press once to move it from left to right and then when you have it lined up to where you want it, you press the up button which stops the horizontal movement and now starts going up and once you have it lined up, you press the stop button to make the key move forward into the hole. I dunno if its a newer version of Key Master.
Prize Locker. It's not rigged. There is a tiny notch in the keyhole and you have to get the key in the notch or it won't work.

If this is that big of a scam, than what about slot machines? They are also on a payout system and are made to become addictive so you keep giving them your cash. That is why gambling addictions are so common. It is not just arcade games.
Torey Beauchum there was this one machine in a magazine joint that wasn’t based off payout and was based on skill, called winners ringer. I won’t 3 times on that machine on 3 separate days. Went home with $400, a PS4 and iPad Air. Wish they never closed that joint down

Some of the machines I've seen have one perfect slot where the key fits. The keyhole will be too small for the key, except for one tiny notch where the end of the key perfectly fits, so some of them are likely rigged physically and not programmed, or probably both.
Stuff like that is illegal though if it's actually impossible to win. It's false advertising

Haha I won an Ipad on the cruise !! Apparently these machines are due to payout at around 20$ so if you put in that much you should get a prize, the punchline is that not all machines have expensive items.
