- In this video we start work on my new to me #audi #tt that I had bought from a #salvage car auction site.
The car had been stolen, crashed and then set on fire. As it was stolen there was also no keys with the car therefore we did not even know if it would start. In this video we start to tackle the interior and the key to see if this car was a good investment or not!

Chris, the steering, suspension lights will go off, steering lock to lock the wheel a few times. A drive will sort the suspension, the but in the boot is the Bose amp, and for reference you can open the boot with a dead battery there is an access panel in the boot drivers side where you pull a cord but u need to climb through.
I’ve done 2 fire damaged cars before, biggest problem isn’t the fire it’s the water used to put it out. On one of them everything behind the dash was rusty as hell, even though the airbags etc were mostly ok, it needed a whole new airbag kit. I had to replace the rear view mirror and during replacing it the windscreen shattered (even though it was visually undamaged) the fire made it brittle. Turned out to be a half decent car in the end but literally everything inside was replaced. I’ve got a pic of the whole interior basically back to bare metal. On the outside it only needed some door pillar trims, rubbers, and the centre of the roof had bubbled paint (which I didn’t notice when I first saw it). Good luck Chris, liking the content 👍

For the vents, get the car running and aim your steam generator into the intake to loosen up anything that's made its way in and settled into the pipes then put the fan on full blast to eject what's loose.
An ozone generator left running while climate is on recirculate any neutralise any remaining odours.
To get rid of the steering one and traction control one, you need to full lock the steering wheel left and right all the way each side should go off then, its like a self calibration

There is a manual pull for the boot between the seats towards the rear of the centre console 👍🏻
I bought a VW Passat stolen recovered, and they tried to burn it out . took me ages to get rid of that smell best of luck mate 👍
You can open the boot/trunk from the inside without a key and without the car having power. There is a small panel on one side of the rear window that you can remove by prying it with a screwdriver. It has an opening in it in the shape of the key, looking at it head-on, and it's made for the key to fit into, but a flatheat screwdriver will work fine. Then behind that panel, there is a small pull cord that will open the trunk latch. I don't know if it differs in UK vs US version, but it's on the driver's side in the US (left side). This way, if the battery dies, you can still get into the boot. :)

clean it all up and put an ozone genarator inside the car for abit with the vents on full, gets rid of any smell

You can pull the backseat down and there is a tab top right if I remember and it will pop the boot.

Hey Chris. Those lights on the dash will most likely go when you drive it 100 yards or so. And get your side a VCDS cable so you can clear fault codes and log values from the car.

Fanbloodytastic Chris what a great start, down the air vent I used large bottle brush washed them out and sprayed Autosmart interior air freshener down the hole worked a treat ,check the pollen filter mine was black probable never been changed because it was a new car what a fantastic car it’s going to be great keep them coming 👍👨🏻🏭

Ah it is something i need then! 🤣 im guessing they took it out to sell it when it was nicked.

i was never a fan of the TT but its grown on me over the years.
just a tip (may or may not work) you say the steering wheel light is on, have you still got power steering?
try this......
start the engine and centre the steering wheel, let it sit for 10 seconds without touching anything then full lock to the left and hold for 10 seconds then full right lock and hold for 10 seconds then centre it again and it should go out.
ive had a few cars with 4x4 and ive always had to do something like this when a battery goes flat/gets removed.

Been waiting for this! Might be worth getting another TT with engine damage as a parts car, then sell off the rest of the parts and recuperate your costs. Funny that you mentioned that lock picking tool - I literally just got one and tried it out! Nice work as always mate

If it’s anything like the 8N it’ll have a manual pulley for the boot release somewhere in the car, the 8J is underneath the cup holder behind the handbrake… thank me later 😉

Meguiar’s Air Refresher, it deodorises the whole air system, I had to use it to clean out the ex smoker smell from my F07.

I would but it would be embarrassing how much money I loose haha! I think I will reveal a full breakdown in the last video on the car.

I think you should replace that whole interior for more than reason 1 being it’s not the best of colour combos in my opinion all black is the best 🤙🏻

Just give it a good clean out and use one of them deodoriser sprays you put in with the blowers going on full after you’ve taken all the fire damaged items out 😂

Is this a standard Audi TT interior black/white leather.
Standard TT have half leather, half alcantara seats. TTS have leather but came in different colour combos
