Gathering parts and repairing my VW Bus Engine.

This week we pay a friend a visit to get a hard to find part. It's a vital part that is sold out everywhere. It's always beneficial to have good friends. Then while waiting on lots of parts to arrive, I dig into my engine for a needed Alternator swap. Unfortunately there are more important issues I need to address, and a fan I need to replace. This is how the majority of "simple" repairs go. But there is nothing to it, but to do it.

I have been doing my own mechanic work on our 4 for 13 years. It has been a constant education in repair and diagnostics. I recently came across your videos and must tell you that your presentations and professionalism are tops. Most of us will be lucky to approximate your skills, patience, honesty and level of perfection given to each of your projects. Type 1 vw cases need to be modified like vw did, with the vanagon engine cases to avoid oil leaks.

@@the_Wagen Compare a vanagon case to a type 1 case. Look for photos of the inside the case around the front/rear main seals. I can't post links. youtube will delete them.

I’ve always considered Buses a VW label. Vans are made by Ford ,Chevy ,and Dodge.
