I'm about to Google "Billet parts." Asking here first... please describe what is a Billet part and what makes it better

A billet part is a piece that is milled from a solid block of metal… in this case aluminum. What makes it better? Casting can have more inconsistencies when being poured. The mold design, the cooling process of the material, the list could go on. Can cast pieces be of quality? For sure. But there is a significant amount of QA that needs to be put in place- my opinion this increases the probability of issues for a small company because these parts are often outsourced…. Billet can also have some issues too- but the probability/likely hood is less. -this is in a nutshell, im sure someone else will chime in with more granular detail.
