I am absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the responses in the comments. I try my hardest to respond to everything, but I am just so overwhelmed right now with how fast you guys are posting information and more recommendations. Thank you to everyone, especially the Nightwish Army that crashed the gates and took over! I’ve loved learning about the band from all of you and can’t wait to listen to more! I’ll keep checking comments and responding the best that I can! 🤘
You need to listen to other live songs...song of myself, poet and pendulum ( must research meaning behind this song) islander live...and the piece de resistance.. The Greatest Show on earth
I really love your reactions so I might probably react to more of your vids x3.
If you thought that was cool production check out the production of "The Greatest Show on Earth" at Tampere. It's a long one about the big bang and evolution. Gotta be the one at Tampere!
Great reaction TTT, although you came dangerously close to Floorgasmus Interuptus but you pulled it out! ;-)
You should check out “storytime” live at wacken also.
My dog listened to this song with me. He's now a direwolf.
Yes!!!!!
u sir have won the comment section. It is now your territory
@@TankTheTech Try "ROMANTICIDE". You'll be shocked! XD.
Don't let him listen to Powerwolf then :)
LOL! My dog howls to Nightwish exclusively! His favorites are GLS and Song of Myself.
*Every Nightwish fan sits waiting for THAT ending note*
*Every Nightwish fan screams as the video gets paused right before THAT ending note*
*Every Nightwish fan forgives you, you got the Floorgasm in the end*
There is an entire video by Floor about the evolution of that epic note ... that's how friggin' EPIC it is! I also love how she looks, hand to head ... then reaches out to the crowd following that note. She knows ... she knows!
@@chadbennett7873 I know! Floor reacts to Ghost Love Score or something ... So of course everyone starts to react, and I'm just waiting for the multiverse to implode from recursion :)
All 3 of the NW vocalists have brought something to the band, but Floor brought something to the whole friggin' world :)
@@StyxRiverGynoid ua-cam.com/video/6qDrKoZ62wQ/v-deo.html. -this one, the other one where she discusses her singing in that particular song is also great.

Anette brought a rock/pop sound
Floor brings everything

Those aren't goosebumps son those are FLOORGASMS!!!!!!

125 songs on 9 albums (including bonus tracks on singles etc), and many of them performed live by 3 different lead singers. 6 produced live DVD's (2000, 2005, 2013, 2015 x 2, 2018). Many great not professionally produced concerts and other live videos. So yeah, there are few =)
Don't forget the side bands and solo projects😁
Yeah, I got a big grin of knowing, when he said that. hehehe.
Floor Jansen is a treasure. I think she said when she first went out on stage with them, she was terrified and wondered what she was doing there. Magic happened.
Yes.
When she was first asked to sing with them:
1. They were in the middle of a tour and had just fired their second vocalist.
2. She was a temp at that point, who had 48 hours to learn their entire challenging setlist.
No pressure...
And at this point at wacken, she was still not a real member of the band 😉
She joined them a littl bit later.
@@jamesredman1263 (According to my info) Annette left becuse she couldn't bear being replaced for one gig when she ended up in a hospital with a REALLY BAD case of flu.
She's a valkyrie commander, that is charging into battle, and YOU will charge into battle with her.
In font of her actually. No enemy will get to the sighting distance of her while I am still alive. ;)
"I'd be really impressed if one of them busted out...a flutey instrument"
Wait till you meet Troy, the 6th member, not on stage in this song
I heard about Troy in the comments afterwards and I’m so ready for him!
given the Eluveitie he had playing in the beginning of the video, he's going to loooooove Troy

You got teary eyed at this, my man you are NOT ready for Poet and the Pendulum or Greatest Show on Earth...
Oh my...
The Poet and the Pendulum... I've listened to that song what must have been over 100 times by now since it's release in 2007, both with Annet on vocals and the live version with Floor, and I still get misty-eyed...
My man just had his first Floorgasm
Or I want my Tears Back Now!!!
This is when men cry.
Tuomas (keyboards, aka metal Mozart) does not write songs, he composes.
I’d say her final note qualifies as mind blowing. You have to listen to it without pausing.
It's a reaction video, and he's reacting. Now, if he had the earphones, and did not pause, he would be speechless. It's just that epic.
Romanticide or Yours Is An Empty Hope (Wembley version) for some harder stuff. Nightwish Army on its way.
"Romanticide" was HEAVILY recommended in the live chat, and I feel like that one's gotta happen soon.

Agreed
"That was _not_ what I was expecting."
Ohoho, just wait.
Watching people react to this for the first time is honestly one of my favorite things in the world haha
Hello @ TankTheTech ! Nightwish fans here, your reaction just appeared on our radar..
Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing in 2013 at Wacken Open Air festival, in front of a 82k+ audience.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
I appreciated that, although you watched the show with a "technical eye", you were open to the emotions induced by the song and the unique voice of Floor Jansen. As others will have already told you maybe, what you felt is called "Floorgasm" :)
To this, of course, contributed the special talent of all the band members, as well as the value of the musical composition, thanks to Tuomas Holopainen, called by many "the modern metal Mozart".
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.
I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol "

Thank you! Waiting for more Nightwish reactions. All the best from RO. Stay safe.
Gabriel, this has got to be the most thought out and in depth comment I've gotten on my channel so far! Thank you so much for including all of that information and history about the band, and it's so awesome to hear about the background of each of these musicians! Thank you for honoring Ann with that description and background of the band!
I cannot wait to listen to more Nightwish, and you've compiled quite a list for me to check out! From what I gather, their sound can go all over the spectrum, so I'm very excited to hear more and see what other directions they go.
Thank you again, so so so much! It is very much appreciated!
@@TankTheTech You fully understood my message, with the role of informing and wishing you "welcome"! We enjoy every time we meet people with a clear mind and an open heart, because we know in advance that they will really appreciate Nightwish music.

I wasn't aware I was in the presence of royalty. I'M NOT WORTHY! 🙌
@@TankTheTech Lol Not necessarily "royalty", just one of the most informed commenters when it comes to Nightwish. I used the term
"godfather" as my own description of Gabriel. The Nightwish Family recently lost the Mother of the Nightwish Family, Ann Weychoff, who also greeted
every new reactor to Nightwish with sincere love and tons of information. I'm sure that Gabriel is going to become just as important to our
community. R.I.P., Ann....we all miss you terribly...😥 🌟💫💛
The goosebumps and wet eyes... thats called a Floorgasm. If you're planning on following this Nightwish road you've started down... buckle up son... its a ride
"I think somebody said Finnish or Dutch" "Yes."
As a roadie you can appreciate their documentary “Please Learn The Set List In 48 Hours”. It’s about this tour specifically and gives a lot of insights from behind the stage. Also, nice Davie504 snippet. My Hubby would get a kick out of that. He loves his videos.
That's awesome! I'll have to check that out. And yes, I love Davie as well. haha
@@TankTheTech The tour where Annette got sick and was rushed to hospital was about 585 days! Eliza Ryd and Alissa White-Gluz helped at the Denver gig (on UA-cam as "The Denver Debacle" - should be "Miracle"!).... before Floor joined in the recommended video "Please Learn... In 48 hours"
@@TankTheTech Nigthwish army loves that documentary. We have even watch live reactions in the past, spend 2 hours with a youtuber reacting to it live. I can understand it might be 2long for you to react to it but when/if you have the time, watch it for shits and gigles. It also has a small section where their pyrotechnician makes some comments ;)
This is the most epic concert I've seen in years, try ROMANTICIDE , SONG OF MYSELF, GHOSTRIVER, STORYTIME or any other song on this concert! Lol
Romanticide was so heavily recommended already that I'll definitely be doing that soon!
@@TankTheTech Have fun and welcome to the Nightwish Army Tank
@@TankTheTech Yeh it's a lot harder than ghost love score, this is the light side of Nightwish, badass reaction, subbed
Storytime is a good "starter" song.
All good recommendations!
I love when first time reactors to NW get shocked by Floor's beautiful, angelic voice surrounded by the powerful melody, and it's funny how quickly he got Floored and had his first floorgasm
The thing with Nightwish is that even if they do impressive stuff, they do it only when the song requires it and not to show off their abilities. They could shred the hell out of those guitars, Floor could belt even higher etc. but this band does these things with great restraint. They let the music shine and damn what masterpieces have they produced. That's why we all get emotional listening. It's not about proving anything it's about the composition. As you explore the band more you'll get to see the skill level of everyone individually. Have fun, you're about to have quite a journey.
Says he is not going to pause. Pause every 30 seconds. It's ok, your first floor experience;)
Hahahahahaha. I said I'd "TRY" not to pause. 🤣 But between UA-cam's copyright restrictions and SO MUCH to unpack with this video, I ended up stopping a ton.
Its a good reaction thanks. Yes in my opinion to much pause, you can let it run longer, YT don't block as fast as you think.
@@TankTheTech official nw vids will be never blocked btw ...read my lips
@@TankTheTech Well except for Poet and the Pendulum. Doesn't seem to be getting blocked lately but it seems to come and go in waves. You will probably wanna pause a good amount if you do that song.
Great reaction! Pause all you like - just rewind a bit so you get the full flow of the performance - we won't mind! ;)
So while this song is definitely the perfect first step into the world of symphonic metal, you will be very surprised what this band can do, whether it's heavy, folk, power, opera or cinematic metal. Even after you start to realize what great vocalists they have in this band, you will soon understand what a genius the keyboardist/composer is.
Even from this first song/video, I realize the composition of the music is incredible! I can't wait to listen to more and see how versatile this band can get!
Oh Yeah, they have such a wide spectrum.
@@TankTheTech Nice to hear and hoping to see more from you. They also have 2 more songs that are 10+ minutes that will get recommended a lot but here's a couple of "normal" songs I would recommend:
Romanticide (heavier sound)
Song of myself (dramatic/heavy)
I want my tears back (folk)
Ever Dream (power)
Phantom of the opera (first singer of the band, metal cover of a classical song)
Also 80% of the time they sound better live so definitely pick the live versions.
Headphones required at all times for live Nightwish gigs. Welcome to the rollercoaster ride that is Nightwish.
You've no idea how special her voice is.... Nightwish is one of a kind!
ooh boy, you've opened the nightwish rabbit hole! Few things to note:
Floor is their 3rd singer (and I like her best)
This song was originally with their first singer, Tarja
Now that you've seen this, you need to see live versions of:
-The poet and the pendulum
- Yours is an empty hope (pay attention to the growls here)
- The greatest show on earth
You're welcome.
Thanks man! Didn’t know until after I watched this that Floor wasn’t the original singer. Definitely gonna have to check out more!
@@TankTheTech The lyrics are always beautiful as well. They are mostly composed by Tuomas (Too-oh-mas), the keyboarder. He is the genius behind pretty much all of the compositions.
Shudder before the Beautiful is another amazing song. Or The Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean. Poet and the Pendulum and The Greatest Show on Earth are also sublime. I second your vote for those, Poet and the Pendulum is one of my top faves of all time.

When other bands write songs, Nightwish compose songs.
And you will never forget your first Floorgasm
"I wasn't expecting this" - "goosebumps" - "emotional" - "epic" - these are all things the Nightwish army are used to hearing on these first time reactions. Welcome to the rabbit hole!
Please do a reaction to Romanticide - totally different vibe than Ghost Love Score.
That’s coming soon for sure!
Operatic voice? yes, and no. 'Yours is an empty hope' Wembley.
EVERYTHING from the "Live at Wacken" set was fantastic..
As a side note, we Nightwish lovers don't care how long the video is.. EVER.. And we really almost always would want you to watch till the end of the video. This becomes important the more you listen to Nightwish.
Also keep in mind Floor is the 3rd singer for NW and she had only been with the band for about 10 months at this point and I think she was just filling in at this point.
Over 80k people in the crowd, so just a small show for them, and if I remember correctly this song was about 1 1/2 hours in to the set. Enjoy, we will be here to watch with you.
I swear to God hearing eluveitie in the intro just made my day

Been a fan of rock/metal since the late 70s...just "found" Nightwish a couple months ago... literally can't get enough of them! The NW army is amazing too! 🤘
Just don't cross them. I was kicked out of the NW army for nor liking one of their songs. They still hate me for it and that was months ago.
For me it was about a year ago and I am the same. I have to listen to a couple of their songs everyday. I have also discovered other great music because of Nightwish. Bands like Epica, Wintersun, Areyon , Dream Theater, Tool there are others. It is to the point I can't keep up.
Sounds exactly like me. Exclusively 70's rock. KISS army and all that. Then I ran across this band...... holy sh#t

Tarmo - everything worthwhile cannot ever be said about Nightwish ... they just keep creating new things to say. Better late than never, my friend.
This just shows how phenomenal Floor Jansen is as a singer...she’s taking a very complex song that was written for a different opera trained singer....and she totally owns every second of it.
I've seen this fifty times. Emotional, goosebumps, every time, dude, every time.

Classic hockey shirt. Dude, did I mention about legions of army? Yeah I did and soon the Nightwish army will be flocking your comment section with song requests lol. Great reaction btw. As a roadie, I'm really interested in your feedback on the production value of some of the live shows. Looking forward to more from you 👍
Thanks a ton! Very interested to hear more from this band!
The Netherlans reporting in 👍
When it comes to Floor Jansen: Normal singers sing what they can, Floor sings what she wants. She can do clean, operatic, but she can also growl. She is a class of her own.
No matter how many times I watch this song. Goosebumps in the first 10 seconds. Then they keep going off at every chorus lol
Emppu can shred, just not on this tune. What he does, is lends a sweet, melodic break but not overpowering. Had Emppu shredded, would've totally destroyed the vibe.
Yeah, he seems like the kind of player that's easily capable of shredding, but vibes out and does what he thinks is just the right amount. I loved it.
@@TankTheTech Fortunately, Tuomas always writes in solos that fit perfectly with the music and never anything superfluous. However, there are quite a few examples of Emppu really showing what he's capable of and you'll see them as you go through the songs that I've seen recommended. It is my personal opinion that he is good enough and confident enough that he doesn't need to 'show off' as is the case with some guitarists. He believes in what Tuomas is doing and the music comes first. I love his energy on stage. He's sort of like a fart in a skillet...no one can keep him still. He's quite a prankster too, both on and off stage.
Edit: Forgot to say...I loved your reaction, man. Sub'd and looking forward to more.
Dude this is awesome. One thing I can tell you, is everytime you pause it for commentary, before you start the video again, rewind it a bit because you can miss a lot of important moments.
This is part of a trilogy. Poet and the pendulum (live at Wembley) is next. Then The greatest show on earth Live at Tampere) As you get to know this band more and more, they are so intricut, so dynamic, there is nothing they cant do.
Welcome to the nightwish army!!!!!!!
Yeah, I gotta get better at pausing and rewinding. Still learning as I go as this is only my 12th video, I think, but with this song especially, there was so much going on and so much to unpack that my brain was shorting out. Haha
@@TankTheTech Just as a help, while the spacebar pauses and restarts the video on a PC, j goes back 10 seconds per press, so is strongly recommended. If you go too far, l goes forward 10s. Nice reaction! This genre of music is known as Symphonic Metal. GLS is the most reacted to song, in the history of music reaction videos. A bit ahead of Jinjer-Pisces. As Nightwish is the most reacted to artist or band in the history of music reactions videos. FYI:There were 82,000+ in the audience. It is the 13th of 15 songs that NW performed that night. I would recommend either 'Ever Dream' or 'Storytime' from the same concert for your next Nightwish reaction.
The singer's name is Floor Jansen. She is the 3rd and still current female lead singer of Nightwish (est. 1996) She had been with the band for little over 10 months at the time of this concert on 03 August 2013, when she was 32. She started performing in her first Metal Band, After-Forever at the age of 16. After that band disbanded, she started her own band called Revamp. Which was on hiatus, when she received a call from Nightwish to take over the female lead singing duties mid-tour. The rest is herstory.
DAMN! That is an awesome amount of information. Thank you, Marc! And yeah, I assumed from all the recommendations and all the other videos I saw that this one was done by just about everyone (I actually mention that in this video, and I know I'm super late to the party). Thank you for the other suggestions! I'll definitely be checking it out because as you'll see by my reaction, I WANT MORE NIGHTWISH! Haha

Every first time reactor to Nightwish…
Ghost Love Score:
“That woman’s pipes are incredible”
“That bassist was doing some amazing…”
“That drummer is just nailing it”
“This is a Lord of the Rings/Pirates of the Caribbean…”
The very same reactors, two songs later, say by Poet and the Pendulum:
“Floor’s vocal technique, compared to Tarja, has the ability to drop a bravado….”
“It’s amazing how Marko pulls off his vocals in a dual linear approach with Floor and still just kills the base….”
“Jukka was so dynamic as drummer, so sad he had to quit because of his insomnia, but Kai brings a different energy that matches the bands style….”
“Tuomas is an absolute genius as a composer….”
(BTW - I have no f’ing idea what I said musically, it just kills watching how quickly these reactors get sucked into the Nightwish vortex…..)
Good reaction. I think you get it. I heard someone say "most singers show, Floor GIVES." I'm a long time metalhead, usually listen to stuff a lot heavier and more complex than this, but Nightwish got me the first time I saw them (especially Floor). They have a very positive feel and appear to really love what they do. Anyway... The Nightwish army is coming, they love their Valkyrie Queen.
Sounds like we're VERY similar in our metal tastes. I generally enjoy heavy, fast, and shreddy, but Nightwish just got me, man. Very excited to hear more!
Nightwish is about musical talent, big compositions, and emotions. Most songs give the feels and all of them give "Floorgasms"(the goosebumps or chills when Floor sings).
So I'm rewatching this one. After listening to your interview with Joakim. It popped up on my suggested. And it's funny to rewaych this man. Your one of the ones that got me out of my American metal comfort zone. So thank you
That's awesome, man!
Finnish band, Dutch vocalist, English piper, symphonic power metal with folk, prog and cinematic elements. Absolute genius.
Great first reaction - you've started the journey,
Floor can sing anything, anytime, and mix operatic, head, chest, mix voice, bellting, growling and/or screaming in any song. Marco, the bassist is also a great singer, you'll see. Troy the multi-instrumentalist sings also. Emppu the guitarist is a virtuos, the drummers (Jukka until 2014-15 and Kai replacing Jukka (and recommanded by Jukka) are phenomenal - last, but absolutely not least Tuomas, keyboard, is the composer, lyrics' poet, orchestrator, w.m. is also fantastic
I'm glad you noticed Marco shredding that bass. He is a beast and doesn't get enough recognition for how awesome his playing is. He creates a massive wall of sound!
You never not feel floorgasms when she sings this song
“She’s got a voice” Floor is the voice.
I will try not to pause so much
Me: I don't think I've seen so many pauses in this song from a reactor
But fun fact about the pyro
I’ll get better about it. Still new to this. Trying to break it up so the video doesn’t get blocked due to copyrights, AND there was a lot for me to unpack. So much going on.
@@MrDjTilo I've even seen this entire show (and others) reacted to without getting blocked and "Please Learn the Setlist in 48 Hours" has been reacted to in its entirety as well.
Tuomas Holopainen the keyboard player and composer is basically in a select league of composers with the likes of John Williams, Hans Zimmer and Frederico Enaudi. Floor is one of the best singers alive. Highly trained, skillful, powerful, passionate and a consumate professional. The band is a world class ensemble of musicians.
We may be late to the party but the Nightwish Army is amazing. It's like we walked into the Louvre, unaware of the Renaissance and rather than rag on us for our ignorance the NA greets us and invites us to take the grand tour.
Great reaction, love every second of it! Props for playing Inis Mona in the backround during intro! \m/
This track was my first listen to as well as I’m not a metal fan really. Likewise it never blew me away but there’s was more than enough to make me curious and of course Floor and her voice 😍😍. Since that first listen I’ve listened to a lot of their catalogue and there’s literally nothing they don’t do. Buckle up fella you’re in for one hell of a ride.
"I'm having goosebumps" ok, but instead of stopping every 40 seconds to say you are having goosebumps, JUST HAVE THE GOOSEBUMPS!
There is symphonic rock, and then there is Nightwish. She gives me goosebumps every time she sings that haunting melody, contrasting so beautifully against the powerful metal background. I've not seen any flutes, but they do have Uilleann pipes! (AKA Irish bagpipes) You're reaction was almost as epic as the song. And you wouldn't be the first to get teary eyed and goosebumps from listening to this amazingly executed masterpiece. It's a total experience. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing your first Nightwish experience with us - it was fun to see you get your first Floor-related goosebumps ;)
I hope you won’t mind a couple of friendly suggestions:
1) Maybe make a few less stops, or alternatively (if possible) just wait a few seconds for a natural place to pause. Since NW songs are so complex/have so many changes in melody, it’s especially important to preserve the flow of the songs
All good on the long comment! All the input is greatly appreciated! I know I gotta get better with my pauses and rewinds, and I think I got WAY better on that in my Romanticide video, and I'll have that up soon!
Good on you, for actually taking in constructive criticism, that will definitely help you develop as a reactor :)
I’m looking forward to seeing another aspect of my favorite live videos, through your “expert eyes”.
One final tip: please don’t be afraid to “geek out” on the technical stuff (lighting, pyro, stage setup, etc.) - you might think it’s too “niche” or whatever, but the hardcore fans (and there are a lot of us, lol) love to geek out on NW. And there aren’t many things we don’t already know, so any new information is more than welcome :)
The Greatest Show on Earth, this song is amazing. Masterpiece!
Hey Tank! Have been rewatching your reaction and I have to say: you have come a very far way my friend - great job, absolutely impressive! Keep it up buddy and I hope you found the time since you released this video to listen to this song at least once without a pause ;-)
Thank you!
So fun to come back and watch your first reaction after all the NW we've listened to the past few months. Well done brother.
16 year old song still blowing peoples minds, and this song wasn't even wrote for Floor, that's Nightwish and that's the music genius of Tuomas Holopainen
Roadie....Nice reaction, thank you. Congrats you have had your first Floorgsm ( Floor Jansen, vocalist ). Your background lends to the band, if Nightwish is there, there will be fire. Now the real fun begins, the Nightwish Army is headed your way. They will have a request or fifty the first day, subscriptions going soar. They will treat you right, let them guide you at first. Welcome to the world of Nightwish.....Enjoy ! .....Lets go Hawks !
Thanks Thomas! LET’S GO HAWKS!
That was actually the perfect pause, it highlighted the next few seconds where you said it wasn't mind blowing a couple times, but that it got you emotionally, gave you goosebumps, teary eyed, and epic
...And then five seconds later Floor blows you to the moon xD loved the contrast, was just too perfect! And yes, like the other 9001 comments before me, Romanticide is definitely next. Prepare to be boarded by the Nightwish Army
Not a shock value band though, hmm...more like, they're not really an anything in particular band, they do any genre and style, sometimes they shock value and sometimes they don't, they just kinda ignore all the rules and do whatever they want and it works
Edit: Subbed as soon as you said you'd go to one of their concerts, dude it's only your first vid on them that's epic xD can't wait to see more
Yeah, very emotionally driven and epic for sure. And Romanticide is DEFINITELY next!
@@TankTheTech YAY!
Love the comment on the guitar cab. Years ago I ran a small sound board for a friend's band at a summer camp. 1st show the amps faced the audience and their response was mediocre. 2nd show I suggested the amps face the band so they could hear themselves and I could control the house levels. The difference was night and day. The audience reaction to the improved sound was crazy.
They do have a flute player , but this is a backing track for some of the orchestrated parts and the choir. The drummer is playing with a click track. If he loses the click the whole song falls apart. You are absolutely correct when you say this band is not about shock value. They are simply about making great melodic dramatic music using extreme dynamics and talented musicians who only play what the song requires. No ego driven solos in every song. The shock value is in the power and emotion of the music especially the vocal performances. You experiences several frisson's (goosebumps), which we affectionately refer to as "Floorgasm's". The Dutch queen of symphonic metal is an expert at creating these emotional responses to anyone who has ears and can feel the emotion within music. She is also very adept at making even grown men shed a few tears of emotional joy now and then. You have only heard a small sample of Floor's vocal capabilities. If you want to hear something a little heavier, try "Romanticide" fro Wacken 2013. Or if you want to see the full pyro and light show, check out the opener from this show, "Dark Chest of Wonders". see my links below.

Literally JUST got done filming my reaction to Romanticide and it BLEW MY MIND. Hahahaha. Gonna try and edit it as soon as possible to get it posted!
Troy does not play the flute, or at least perform on it (I bet he could play it with a few minutes going over the fundamentals with a flautist though!) He does play various whistles, Uilleann pipes (which he has personally developed into a form which can play in any key - but only on his own custom-built set), guitar, Irish Bouzouki, and probably could play anything else he set his mind to. Tuomas can apparently play the clarinet, as well.
@@phillee2814 I know. I just didn't want to take the time to go into details.
If you like pyrotechnics you need to listen to romanticide Dark chest of Wonders shudder before the Beautiful and yes she also has an amazing voice. My personal favorite yours is an empty hope
Romanticide is definitely happening soon! Thanks!
@@TankTheTech ..."I can't wait to see what other kind of explosive pyro they have." BWAHAHAHAHA! Oh, boy, he's really gonna love GSOE at Tampere then! Here's the link to stash away in your "to do" list for when you get to it: ua-cam.com/video/bl6lUfIMkGM/v-deo.html
@@TankTheTech You'll appreciate that their chief pyrotechnician casually remarks during that tour that half of a 38-tonne truck is full of bombs.
hmm: Customs officer: "Have you anything to declare?"
Driver: "Oh shit, here we go again!"
I guess the other half of that truck is probably filled with the declarations, licenses, forms and permits to drag all that lot around internationally!
No idea how many times ive heard this song, but it gives me goosebumps every F'n time. All ❤️ from TX
Once you've experienced Nightwish, there's no turning back. Emotional and physical reactions to their music are how I react as well, and it's why they're my favorite.
You don't need shock value for mind blowing.
If you really break down how this was made it is pretty mind blowing.
It's a perfect storm of talent... If it's in your taste or not is one thing but no one can deny the talent, execution or brilliance of this band if they understand how this has come into existance.
If you are a pyro, do Du Hast by Rammstein Live in Paris man, the whole band are fucking Pyros... best show ever!
I LOVE Rammstein and I've seen their show so many times. I own several of their DVD's as well. 🤘🤘🤘
@@TankTheTech What a shame would love to have seen a first reaction to that... or BUck Dich hahaha
@@TankTheTech a man of culture i see
Great reaction Tank, my first reaction to Nightwish was about the same: excitement and emotion went true my body
Not only is this one of Nightwish's best song, it is probably one of the best live performances by any band ever. Also love Inis Mona in the background!
The cabinet turned sideways is just for control. besides having in-ears, Emppu the guitar player likes to feel the air move a bit... And the orchestra is a recording, they have a Pro Tools session running in the backstage. But it's the London Symphony Orchestra.
No, It's the London Philharmonic Orchestra with the Metro Chorus, with Pip Williams fine-tuning the orchestration from Tuomas's score and demo files produced on keyboards, which sometimes bounce back and forth a few times before it is finalised. The band have attended the orchestral and choral recordings, but don't always.
Welcome to the world of Nightwish! And symphonic metal 🤘
EDIT: Congrats on your first Floorgasm! 😎
I did enjoy your reaction a lot! Subbed right away, waiting for more Nightwish!
You got the background of the band already so i just leave few recommendations.
All of these from same Wacken 2013 concert!
Romanticide (I hope you do this one next!)
Ever Dream
Ghost River
Storytime
Wish I Had An Angel
Song of Myself
Dark Chest of Wonders ( This is the show opener, proper way to start a gig)
Stay safe! Enjoy the music 🤘
Greetings from Finland! 🤘🎶 🎸🇫🇮
Thank you so much! I definitely enjoyed this and can't wait to hear more. "Romanticide" was recommend a TON in the live chat for this video, so that'll probably be next!
This is a great intro to the band but it is still a sort of ballad... they have so much more then this... Try Romanticide or The Greatest Show On Earth... but son, only live versions!
Romanticide was HIGHLY recommended in the live chat when the video premiered. Definitely gonna have to check it out! I saw The Greatest Show On Earth was 21 minutes, so that one will have to be a project somewhere down the line. Haha
Yes ONLY live versions 🤯👌🏼
@@jasminwolf7412 ALWAYS!
@@TankTheTech it's worth it. Watch the Tampere version. Home base, 20000 fans that just came for Nightwish and thus a "ton of toys" on stage.
You know, I’m going to disagree with everyone just saying the live versions. First mainly be cause there aren’t any really for Human and everybody needs to hear Noise. Second, because as far as I know, the best version of Annette’s Storytime is the album/music video
Anyone else, who goes back to Tank-Reactions to rewatch them?
🙌🙌🙌
The moment she starts singing. One second of disbelief in your eyes. And right after that everyone can see how you‘re falling for her. 🖤
For more thatretical: Poet and pendulum or the greatest show on the earth. For more banging, Endlesnes or tribal or Romanticide, for more folk, Nemo or Islander live from Tampere, or Harvest... the Nightwish Deliver countles of styles!
They have super good Pinkfloid cower and for more operatic maybe Phantom of the opera with Tarja Turunen. They have easy listen to radio play songs like By by beatifull or Noise or Sahara, or Amaranth.
so Many different styles, from head banging to soft lyrical stuff, from operatic to folk. Really interesting band to listen!
Congrats on your first of many multi Floorgasms. This music & Floor’s voice will touch your soul. Romanticide is next. But harder...use headphones! Enjoy! NW army incoming! 🤙🔥
My only problem with headphones is that when I start rocking, they fly right off. Hahaha. Might have to bust out my in ear monitors for this one.
TankTheTech Hell yeah dude. You got the tech 😉
Tank, less then 2 minutes into the song: "... the musical structure is insane."
Tuomas: *smirks
Their whole catalog is amazing. You need to see them live. Their fans are intense, too!
