(Comment shamelessly stolen)
This comment should be on all the reactions 🤷🏻♀️
Hahahahahaha!
This! 🤣
I stole some comments too..
Who is the Angel, who make Satan cry?
Mmh ,FLOOR 😊
Hahahahha Damn thats good!!!!
I’m not sure how many times I’ve watched this but “We were here” still chokes me up a bit.
A bit? I am crying waterfalls.
Always the same, as the first time!
The one and only band tattoo I have.
Especially the "we were here" that Floor speaks right after the song ends. So full of emotion.
I know what you mean
WE. WERE. HERE.
(Seriously everyone, thank you so much for watching and for all of the comments. I had a blast with this one, and I’m so grateful for all of you that have been joining me on this journey!)
Wait, this journey is not over, right!?!?
I never heard deeper words than this 💙
I always see the shout out "We were here" as a message to universe. Like so many signals like tv and radio are leaving our planet, maybe someone or some(it) may receive this particular "We were here" in the future (those signals can be on it way for a long hime through space) on a far away planet and they will know that we lived. That we were part of this universe and don't want to be forgotten.
@@annakickan Definitely not over!
For me, "Procession" from the new album is the continuation and counterpart to this song. Check it's lyrics out (easy, as it is only a lyrics video) and you will surely see what I mean.
Few fun facts :
- Yes, fireworks crew used in ears. They tested that everything worked the night before
- Nightwish had 6 trucks full of gear for that night (You can see trailers behind fireworks launch station)
- Nightwish had a crew of 50 for that night
- There were about 50 construction workers doing everything from flooring the Track & Field to stalls and fences (I was one)
- Construction started on Monday before concert. Deconstruct was over on Tuesday
- Actual stage is owned by city of Tampere and is used other in big concerts and festivals
@Hannu Hantta Mäkelä
Thank you so much for taking the time to give us that insight, sincerely.
👍
Thank you for sharing! Did you get to watch the show as well?
That's fuckin cool.
Killer! Thanks for the info man!
I didn’t push the like button until I heard what kind of guitar Emppu was playing.
🤣😂 So true.
You never know what guitar is going to play Emppu 😂😂😂
He made me wait!
Na, I knew it was coming so I pre-liked ;) I would've taken it away had he not said it though!
Hahahahahaha. I hope this turns into something for their live shows where people start bribing EV-1 signs.
They truly love their crew. When I saw them in Helsinki two years ago it was the last show of their drum tech who was with them for a decade or so. They had him come on stage after The Greatest Show On Earth, told the audience about what a great guy he is, gave him some form of a present (I don't remember what it was exactly) and were so emotional when they had to go off stage. Even their former drummer Jukka joined on stage to say farewell. The audience was cheering for this tech the same was they were for the band. Probably one of my favourite concert moments ever.
Fun fact: before the Enter Sandman part there are several other references to musical works. In order of appearance: asian monk chants, "Dies Irae" a gregorian melody from the Middle Ages, Bach, which is then followed by the theme from Prelude and Fugue in d minor, then Enter Sandman and after that a few beats of dance/techno. It's essentially a millennia of musical evolution compressed into a few minutes.
Is it just me hearing the same drum beats in Wish I had an angel (at least live, end of an era)?
Thanks! I’ve always wanted to know which songs were referred in that little part!
I recognized the actual musical pieces, I just didn’t know there names. Haha. Thank you.
There's also a snippet of banjo music
@@metallifan7931 Yes, the EDM beat is used in Wish I Had An Angel (if I'm not mistaken, it's during the bridge before the last chorus)
I don't think I've seen anyone mention this, so here's a fun fact for you: After the Endless Forms Most Beautiful album came out, multiple scientific discoveries have received names that are a tribute to the album or to Nightwish in general since then, including the Tmesisternus floorjansenae, a new species of beetle named after Floor, the Tanidromites nightwishorum, a newly discovered species of crab, and the Alpenglow Rockshelter, a prehistoric archaeological site named for the song!
@Annelies Van Linden : It’s great that you brought this up! May I also add to the list the Sciophila holopaineni, a new species of fungus gnat named after Tuomas. :) An informative blog post about this at phys.org/news/2017-03-shadow-loving-insect-tuomas-holopainen-nightwish.html.
Wow, had no idea! This is huge, Nightwish remembered for eternety in the biolog! ♥️
Now that you mentioned I remember as well.
In the credits for the Wacken show they even mentioned the local German bus drivers. :-)
They even mention catering on this one lol 😆 they’re so stinkin thoughtful!!
I mean if they didn't care for their crew, we couldn't have Crewish
@@franciscoborjaescobarsuare5802 Amen brother man....
@@franciscoborjaescobarsuare5802 now he needs to react to some Crewish
What gets me about the Wembely version is the entire arena going silent to listen to Dawkins. Such respect for him.
And mouthing the words at the same time as he says them! Who would have thought we could all cry at the sound of science clases 😬
Seriously. It was unreal.
...and they're crying. That gets me, 'cause the impact of the song is just like that for me.
I recognized his voice and thought "is this Dawkins?" epic :D
I also love the story on how Nightwish ended up working with Dawkins
"Man... had a dream to understand a single grain of sand..."
(plays Enter Sandman)
So many people miss that reference.
Tuomas absolutly deserves the titel "Metal-Mozart"
rumour has it that Tuomas cut the other 6 minutes because Floor was getting dangerously close to a singularity event...! Also....how many bands get a crowd hyped and screaming for quotes from a science book?
BTW, it's a little known fact, but Emppu plays his ESP signature series EV-1. ;)
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I would love to watch Emppu play Marco's guitar he uses in the live Islander video. Wonder if he would even be able to carry it?
The musical and lyrical references and throwbacks to other Nightwish songs is totally purposeful and is used fairly often by Tuomas.
Exactly! It is intentional and purposeful and freaking amazing!!!! \m/
Yeah, for someone like me who has been a fan for over 20 years that's already so normal, it's like the only predictable thing about them.
I loved that, especially on Century Child.
They even have a 'reference' (kinda) to Dance of Death by Iron Maiden in one of their songs (can't remember which one though).
Honestly, the first thing I caught was a bit from Imiganarium.
"Greater poets than Keats
Scientists greater than Newton
Composers greater than Holopainen" ;)
I had the exact same reaction the first time I heard "We were here", shivers running all over
every time!
Varje gång !
Always brings a tear to my eye. Every time!
To me, "The Greatest Show on Earth", is their most emotionally, technically, exciting song Nightwish has done. It is hard not to contemplate it's intentional meaning while you listen to this masterpiece of music. Tuomas is a genius.
Poet and the Pendulum and All the Works of Nature Which Adorn the World trump The Greatest Show on Earth IMO
Tank, that was a masterpiece. I'm so glad to be a part of your Nightwish journey. And I'm gonna repeat my Discord suggestion here. December 30. Last Ride of the Day. #WeWereHere
Perfect suggestion. Thanks Max!
As section one is titled "Four Point Six" it is ONLY as far back as the age of our planet, so not the big bang - first bang is the collision which created our moon, the later cluster of bangs the Late Hadean Bombardment, and if you time them, they are timed accurately within the section, according to our best understanding of the Hadean Eon, too!
I wanted to correct Tank too, but you beat me to it. Didn't know about the Late Haldean Bombardment and the timing. Cool!
Jesus effin' Christ, Tuomas!! :D The details!
@@franshinlopen2166 I have to blame my grandfather's cousin, who was a strong influence on me during my childhood, for the fact that I noticed those details. He was chief geologist for BP, president of the Royal Geological Society, and knighted for his services to science.
I guess a little bit rubbed off.
The music mostly came from the other side of the family.
@@Imurai Tuomas is nothing if not meticulous!
And now we know we the ticketprices went up the last couple of years: CONFETTI 🤣🤣🤣
Imagine a song that were to embody the entirety of existence, from the beginning of time and the universe, to humanity’s present-day realizations. one of the greatest musical pieces ever written.
It would undoubtedly be the greatest show on earth.
Tank, I honestly have *no idea* how you’ve actually managed to stick to a single Nightwish song each week
Have to give you huge credit for that
I was there, and cried when I heard "We were here", and I sure wasn't alone. I still cry almost every time I hear it. The double meaning of having been here, not only as a human but as one of those in that concert, it just hits right in the feels.
Let me share a story to confirm a thing that Tank said. I am an X roadie and some months of the year I used to work as a sound engineer in theaters and music stages. So one night we had a big greek pop star for a concert in the theater I used to work every winter. His crew brought those shinny confetti. Didn't know how they work or what is the aftermath until then. Well to make the long story short...I was finding confetti from all over the place (speakers, lights, cables, amps etc) for the next 3 YEARS!!!
Tank cut the bull... about Nightwish Wednesday. I know that in your head this song was the best closure but I guarantee you that there are at least 14-15 top songs of Nightwish that you haven't done yet!! So ruin my Wednesdays all right? 😁😂😘
Here are four suggestions for this month.

@Phelan Nope I totally mean Elvenpath 🤘 ua-cam.com/video/FZdkjrS35-I/v-deo.html
@Phelan 😂😂 no I didn't!! Good one 😂😂
Great reaction, Tank.
While that in itself isn't new around here, the thoroughness, honesty & thoughtfulness you put into content (like this one in particular) places you above nearly everyone else.
Keep it up, man!
Oh, and to keep pestering... you still need to do:
Dead Boy's Poem - Live @ BA 2018
While Your Lips Are Still Red - Live @ Wembley 2015 (Marko starring, with some nice E-bowing from Troy!)
This.
A bearded violent gentleman, tears in his eyes and wet cheeks, talking about pyro and lights. How can you not like this?
The part with Metallica actually has quite a few musical tributes right before it, the chanting grunts would be like a super early music, Dies Irae, a Gregorian chant, some of the earliest structured music, Bach’s Minuet harpsichord piece, as well as Toccata and Fugue in D Minor as kind of a tribute to the classical influence of nightwish and a further step in musical evolution, and then of course Metallica’s Enter Sandman, and then some electronic music after, kind of completing the circle of musical influence as well as bringing us from early man through to the present. It’s a very cool and unique moment, and really plays well on the theme of the song.
Edit: For those who missed Toccata it is from 24:40-24:49 they play it as the main riff after the Minuet and the laser beam sound hits.
In "Gear Gods" Tero said that Tuomas likes the wedges as well as in-ears as he likes to feel the pulse of the music as well as hearing it. The wedges give him that.
The subwoofers in my truck 100% agree with you 😁
THE GREATEST BAND ON EARTH!
As a die hard Nightwish fan, that comment about Nightwish "repeating" their old songs, is a valid point. They use the same drum comping in a lot of their songs. The melody structure follows the same structure in many of their songs. Does this mean they are a bad band? Hell no!
Nightwish is about stories and the beauty that comes when many different music genres collide.
I think that Tuomas is one of the best music writers today and and this song is a good example for that.
I hate to disagree with you but im pretty sure Tuomas commanded the fireworks just by moving his arm
You nearly spoiled the magic for me there! The man is a genius so it’s obvious it was his magic creating them
😂
This song makes my eyes teary from the first note with every listening, and then Floor sings "we're here to care for the garden" and the sobbing begins.
Can't express how deep the theme of the song cuts, with the melody only amplifying its meaning. We're truly lucky to be alive and to be able to wonder at the marvels of the universe, from the colors of leaves and animals to the infinite variety of the species. And when you're a science nerd studying biology, there are moments where your head just blows at the face of the amazing impossibility of life. We should all be taking care of this planet. Life is a rare and extremely fragile event in the universe (as far as we know), and we can't afford to let it die out of selfishness, ignorance and greed.
Kudos from the other side of the world, Tank.
As others have mentioned, Floor's parents were in the audience. Later on, she spoke of the highly emotional experience while filming a Dutch TV show covering her reunion with her classmates at the Rock Academie. Here's the video - be sure to turn on Closed Caption English subtitles. ua-cam.com/video/B3NIfu0qvtg/v-deo.html
I had a mega **** day today. This took my thoughts away from the negative things. Thank you :)
I'm sorry to hear you had a bad day. I hope it gets better. 😁
I’m glad I could help a little! Hope your day has gotten better!
What gives me shivers is when Floor and Marco are singing perfectly unisono
I absolutely love the triumph in Dawkins' tone when he said the word "evolved". Given his life long struggle to promote the theory and combat various creationist insanities - it just comes with that extra umph. Luuuuuuurve that!
Reactions are intelligent and fun to watch. As and 82 year old Nightwish is the first metal music I appreciate.
Here's why: Quotes of classics, Strong vocalist(s), Variety, Story telling in some of their music, Less reliance on electronics in the vocal, Strong keyboard/composer, use of Uilleann pipes. I could continue but will not. Keep up the good work. With appreciation!
I was there right in front of the end of the catwalk. I'm still amazed that I witnessed something so amazing.
Love how every time Floor starts to headbang, Tank feels challenged. :D
Every. Damn. Time.
You know us too well 😜. I spitted my coffee twice, at the EV-1 and the end of part one. LOL! Since we know this song so well and got to know you a little bit, we feel your emotion at the moment it happens. Thanks for sharing, it means a lot!
I see Nightwish, I give an instant like 👍🏽
You have a type o in the title. It’s actually Nightwish - “The Greatest Band on Earth”
Me too
I have seen most reactions to TGSOE on UA-cam and for me this was (by far) the best and most enjoyable one. Thanks, Tank 🤘
Thank you so much!
No matter how many hundreds of times I listen to this song. I get the goosebumps and eyes tearing up EVERY single time. I listened to the song 3 days straight a while back and still chills every time.. Probably one of the best songs that exist out there. Period.
Oh, "Time", Wintersun😍😍🇫🇮!
This is how you make a greatest show reaction perfect 🤩🤜🤛
Oh, amazing of you to check it with the lyrics as well, cause Tuomas poetry is something that often goes amiss ! :)
I did the video with the lyrics. 👍
Hardly anyone ever reacts to the lyrics 🥺
@@JonnaValikangas Well, let's be fair: The lyrics are not exactly easily accessible. They are most of the time so metaphorical and so full of hints to the most varied inspirations, you have to be butt deep into the Nightwish universe bubble to get even half of them. And in this particular piece of art, you also have to be as deep into biology and/or similar scientific fields, to get the lyrics.
I mean, sure, 'Little Lucy' and 'Goldilocks Zone' might be familiar terms for many, but 'LUCA'? Devonian Sea? From a stellar nursery into a carbon feast? I bet there are more than enough people, who were and still are confu-chan.
People who are, like me, very interested in different scientific fields (among other things), have kinda cried tears of joy.
Tank "I will only pause if I feel the production does something interesting." Me thinking to myself "Oh! you will pause Tank, oh yes! you will pause many times." 😉
The "we were here" lyric at the end makes teary eyed everytime I see this performance
Yes! Here we finally are! My personal favorite Nightwish song under Floor. This song just encapsulates everything Nightwish is about, a fantastical journey, An entire story, our universe in a song. I fall in and out of listening to tons of Nightwish but I remember this song getting me very emotional listening to it the first time. I've always loved the sciences, the wonders of our existence, and this song just resonates with my inner philosopher, and will probably always be Nightwish's finest hour to me.
This video guts me every time. The beauty of it is so overwhelming. I saw this live on a much much smaller scale at The Agora in Cleveland. I believe they played it both for the Endless forms most Beautiful tour as well as the solo Decades tour. Just blown away every time!!
Totally worth the 42 minutes to watch your entire reaction 🤘🏼🤘🏼 Bravo.
Thank you so much for watching. 42 minutes seemed so long to me for making a video, but I’m glad people will enjoy it.

I was actually there in Tampere gig. Even today this song gives me goosebumps.. Truly an epic masterpiece and as a long time Nightwish fan, I'd say that it really is maybe the best song ever by them.
First time I heard this by the time I got to “We Were Here” I had chills and tears. Even more awesome live.
Are our "tech Hero" ready for this experience? Chills, floorgasms and emotional moments allowed... Enjoy
Of course he Is... Roadies a ready for every storms... They dont broke, they bend!
I'm glad you did the Wembley outro, because I was gonna hop on Discord and throw that video at you if Chase didn't already. Hahah. Nicely done, as always. Hope you keep enjoying them.
I absolutely ADORE how Floor kneels a bit in the finale when they are being photographed, so that she's not taller than the men.
Very thoughtful!!!
So I dont know if anyone touched up on this because I didnt cycle through the comments, but from what I have learned, this song is about the history of the Earth and life on it, rather than the history of the universe. So those fireworks in the beginning are actually all the meteors and stuff hitting the Earth that caused the planet to produce life.
That's what I love about Nightwish. They are flat out professionals with amazing talent. However, while providing us with their talent, they are having so much fun its infectious. The fact that they are having fun makes the entire concert a tremendous experience and the fun ends up spreading to the crowd and it turns into so much energy!! I can't wait for this covid stuff to be over so I can see them again!
Goosebumps. Head tingling, hair raising, shivers up the spine goosebumps every single time. Love it.
Tuomas slides in the evolution of music. Creative masterpiece!
"The Greatest Show ..." One of my all time favorites! IT'S JUST EPIC!
"We were here" cant wait to hear that part in the Wembley version of Alpenglow ;)
*Tank: * "You know that I like doing different versions from the most reactors"
(*my* heart leaps and stops) "Noooo!! Please, nooooo!!“
*Tank*: But this time I will listen to you guys and react to Tampere version of this song"
*Me*: Ooohhh😅😅😅 Yes!! THANK YOU!!!! 😅😅
I love this song, a masterpiece. We're maybe a small speck in the infinite time our universe exists already.
I can't predict the future of how we humans will proceed. But one thing is for sure..
We Were Here!!!
The thing that gets me, is that in the end, they took a deep bow towards their audience. This is a band that respects their audience.
Another master piece by Tuomas.
I hear this song so much and it's just a great song.
This song is forever.
We were here... to watch you enjoy this :)
Curious fact - Floor was very emotional during this concert, it was the first time her parennts were going to see her live with Nightwish. You can tell she was, as she KILLED the repertoire that afternoon/night. It is totally worth to watch it entirely
This may be a little dramatic but my honest experience: seeing this song played live, hearing a whole arena yelling 'we were here' made me want to carry on. I went to see Nightwish during the Wembley show when Dawkins came on stage, when I was at my lowest, and just the energy from that one moment made me sob. The power of music, man.
Another awesome video Tank, keep up the good work.
Ok, now that you have reached graduate level Nightwish, we want to to expose you to The Human Nature Album.
As it was released after the world wide lockdown means only one live performance exists of How's the Heart Acoustic (Planet Rock).
There a few songs where he must not deviate from the request and this one of those songs. Or he could do a double reaction
That whole album needs a reaction. I would watch a whole album reaction in one sitting. Maybe he could do disc one on one day and then disc two anther day
I haven't been to a Nightwish concert yet but I assume that the "We were here" part would make me feel the same way that the first time I heard a whole full stadium chanting the lyrics and solos for "Fear of the dark"
It was magical and for the first time in ages i felt happy and part of something bigger (If that makes any sense)
Waiting for this so long and I don´t know why. I think most songs are special but this is one step further.
Can only be great when Tank does a reaction.
The fact that Tuomas wrote also the symphonic parts is awesome.
Go on buddy
Thanks Tank for allowing us to escort you through this journey. It's been a blast. And now - the show must go on!
Thanks for this awesome reaction Tank. Was really looking forward to you doing the greatest show on earth.
And a big, big thank you for showing your tears without making a show of it, nor hiding them. That was quite inspiring to see.
I am beginning to believe that Emppu must like that guitar 🎸!
Me believes, too. Don't know why Erno Matti Juhani from Nightwish likes this ESP guitar named EV-1 after a guy, named "E"mppu "V"uorinen, so much, he also plays EV-2 and EV-3.
Maybe they know each other personally.
From the culmination of all their work to their humble beginnings, maybe?

Hey Tank, been having a tough week and this video seriously lit up my night. This performance always brings a tear to my eye, thanks for a superb reaction and thanks for all of the work you put into your videos, you gaining some background information on the songs really bring the reactions to the next level. Hope you and the ones close to you stay safe!
Thanks for another fantastic reaction, Tank! This one always twangs at my heartstrings a bit. Never mind that I had kind of a shitty day riddled with technological dysfunction at the most inconvenient possible times, but all it took was watching the lights go on in your head as you reacted to this song to raise my spirits up again. Have a good one, man~
So happy that you included the ending at Wembley, it's one of the reasons why that's my favorite version 😊
WOW!!! You got us at the end!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I was like wait why’d he stop it???
I've been waiting for today for over a month now! I think I have seen all of your Nightwish videos and have enjoyed this journey with you. You (and Chase as well) are fun and interesting to watch. You show a respect for your craft and the bands you cover. I appreciate your insight and tools of the trade info which helps me watch these videos in a whole new light. Thanks again for a great video!
Being on this journey with you from the beginning this feels super rewarding. I have waited so long for you to explain the fire works synced with music i made sure i never looked it up. The EV1 shout out was great. Thank you so much for all the time and effort you have put into these videos to this point, The future is bright with this channel.
I remember seeing this song live when they last came through NA. I was in such awe, and really teared up at the end. It was one of those shows that sticks with you. It was beautiful.
I have been waiting for your reaction to this song. Great reaction to what I think is a masterpiece. Every time I hear this I get chills and I always have tears at the end. Its a beautiful piece of art.
Oh that premature ending was naughty! I nearly threw my phone away. 😂 Thank you for this, great reaction! It's so satisfying seeing you do the homework then truly appreciate these songs. 👍
GREAT reaction as always... Man that "There can be only EV-1" meme killed me!!! LOL!!!

I can understand the tears, this is really an epic song,, powerful lyrics and the "We were here" part is still giving me goosebumps every single time i hear it. Truly is a masterpiece!
I could see the pure joy in your eyes watching this. What a brilliant reaction to one of the greatest pieces of music ever written.
Good and deep analysis ... the Greatest Show on Earth. It actually continues with instrumentals on album to be longer. Tuomas and Marco wrote this together and it is really versatile package of everything with a great meaning specially in the last part. You also noted the timing of the fireworks vs day darkening in the sky so that all the effects were more powerful. Do continue and check also very early era songs and shows...even those where they look like "babies".
Yes Sir!!! We were here!! Waiting for this!! hehehehe Greetings Tank!! From you know where... Santiago de Chile!!
Just a shout out to you for taking this journey, Tank. I was among those who said you had to do this video from the start, but you were right, the waiting made it so much better. Now I get to go back to Ghost Love Score and watch all the Nightwish reactions all over again! Thanks for the always incredible work!
Even after seeing the original videos many times, re-experiencing them through your eyes was wonderful and made me emotional. Thanks a lot Tank for the voyage :)
