It's so fucking ugly and you will never see me playing it outside but damn it's really the most comfortable thing ever. Still looks like a door stopper though.
The 2ds is incredibly nostalgic to me. I was born in 2002 and grew up on the DS+3DS family of systems. I’ll never forgot release day of ORAS or X and Y and spending hours playing them without a care in the world. Or me and my friends all playing with our DS’s and 3ds’s at recess. I’m in my junior year of college now and see people playing switches occasionally, but nothing will ever compare to the absolute legends that these were.
Remember the pokewalker for the soulsilver game? It uses ir ports so it's part left over for things like that. I had a pedometer that just tracked my walking for a while.
protip from a 2DS wedge warrior: a proper cut piece of thin rubber under the D-Pad just thick enough to not let the D-Pad go flush will go a long way towards the tactile feel of it. Not to this one of course, but this is a modification I've done to a couple of them now and it's honestly the best thing. your thumb will thank you in the end.
The infrared reader sensor at the top was used for an array of different wireless accessories for the 3DS; most notably, the NFC Reader for using an amiibo with a non-new 3DS/2DS system.
I got a red-white 2DS some time 2014 because the top screen of my 3DS XL fell off and I couldn’t use it anymore. Thankfully the 2DS had come out and was cheap, so it was the perfect option for me to keep playing while trying to repair the broken system! I was 9 back then, so I never really cared about the look of it. I was just glad I could play all my games on it. While I get that in retrospective, it really has a weird look to it, especially in comparison to other DSes, I love the 2DS. It always felt comfortable to hold and intuitive to use jn my hands. I love the feeling of pressing the ABXY buttons and how my hands could (and still can) wrap perfectly around the system. The 2DS might not be the most popular DS, but it will always have a special place in my heart. I still use mine today!
I have a lime green one but it came only as a bundle with Cooking Mama I believe where I live. Either way it's beautiful indeed and I'm eyeing the lime green DSi too.
Just ordered a pink and white 2ds, seller on ebay gave 3 games included!! been having crazy fixation on the 2ds for a couple years- so excited to finally get my hands on one
This is the reason why i love Nintendo. The handhelds. The games. The designs. The way i can just grab n go without having to carry a pouch. I just hate the way they run things now.
I agree. I’ve always identified Nintendo with Handhelds first. Their handhelds are the best of the best, and while I love the Switch, you can tell something changed after the 3DS.
I loved mine so much, had to change it with a 3DS cause both screens broke (the touch screen was fine) and at the time it was very expensive to get it repaired where I lived and basically it was a lot more convenient to buy a normal 3DS
I have one and it's SO gorgeous! The Pokemon and Lavander are definitely up there with it. Least favorite is the Black & Red/Blue ones, I remember thinking it was ugly even as a kid lol.
2DS was slept on at the time but my girlfriend got hers and while I thought it looked dumb it is actually incredibly comfortable to use. I find dust getting behind the screen, mono speaker and lack of self-screen protection to be it's only drawbacks. I might mod one in the future as I think they could use some love!
The original 2DS is my favorite 3DS model personally, because I love the way it feels. The last one I ever bought I got it right before they were discontinued here in U.S got it in late 2019 the Mario Maker 3DS edition too.
Lavender is a beautiful color! Such a shame the lavender 2DS wasn’t released in North America. Seeing this video fills me with a bit of nostalgia. I got my blue 2DS back in December 2018 on layaway. I have more DS games than I do 3DS games. I only have 13 3DS games with two of them being digital copies.

Unfortunately, despite having region free game carts from the original Gameboy through the DS, consoles beginning with the DSi onward were region locked until the Switch was released. You could play imports on the original DS and DSlite, however.

Everything should always have a way to recover old accounts but it doesn't.

2DS.
Who got it?
Oh
elliot pls do a video of the japanesse new nintendo 3ds LL super smash bros edition.
i did
I'm pretty sure the infrared sensor is used for the nfc reader for the o3ds systems since they didn't have amiibo detection built in.
I have the legend of Zelda version!

The IR port was used for the external Amiibo reader. I think the Skylanders portal used it too
You are correct! There is a battery powered Skylanders portal that is IR controlled. Same for the strangely expensive IR Amiibo reader.
Was also used to get event Pokemon in some games if i remember rightly?
