This really makes you appreciate the care and thoughtfulness of the controls in super mario bros. You take it for granted, but it really took into account a lot of issues that affect usability.
well, this is just a wild guess. Some of the programmers might have been in their 20's-40's. So getting some of the guys who would be in their 50's and 60's wouldn't be that hard. The ones who would be in their 70's might be harder.
it would be fun to force some of these game's developers to play and finish their own games.. in my opinion if you design it you should be able to finish it
Still, I think it's kinda hilarious how he was going on about how Winter Games was uncontrollable and yet when he looked at the camera and away from the game and just pressed random buttons that he actually got the person in the game to do something.
***** One other thing I noticed upon rewatching his "Winter Games" episode is that he said that the B button is never used the video game yet when he says "You do this" we can see him visually press the B button and the girl actually does a figure skating jump.
***** old post. But as far as I know some game footage have been recorded before the actual AVGN episodes. So he probably just smashes the buttons to make it look like he's playing
"No other game uses the select button" Bloody Wolf on Turbografx-16 uses select as the grenade button. It's weird as shit yeah but at least Bloody Wolf is great
Kevin Vuile Rotte Lafaard I went to jail. They put me in a cell with 16 other guys. Nobody bothered me. I just sat around watching tv all day. We even got to eat cheeseburgers and fried chicken. They had one toilet for pissing and the toilet next to it was for shitting. They had a sign on the wall that said "don't let us catch you pissing sitting down". The shitting toilet was marked by a drawing of a skeleton taking a shit. Jail is not as bad as people say it is.
James and I are just one moth apart in age. I just smiled to myself when I found out about that. Wish we were friends growing up. He had some fun hobbies - games, film making, amature animation ^_^ Well here's to you james and for hopefully ten more years of the Nerd.
I got Batman Forever for Christmas back when I was kid. Never finished because it was so fucking horrible and never found out how to use the items besides the hook.
I wonder who is nerd's biggest enemy in his show, LJN or the stairs in games? LJN is self explanatory, but it's like every game he ever plays that features stairs has to screw them up.
For Wand of Gameleon, there were 3 buttons on the controller AVGN was using. Why couldn't they just make the status screen the 3rd button? Oh wait, FORGOT, that would make too much sense!
"I can't even last two seconds on the first screen!" Dark Castle CD-I reminds me of when Milhouse played the arcade game of Kevin Costner's Waterworld in The Simpsons.
Michael Salter I found that he was a lot more crazy than the nerd character, and just look at him work off the nerd when it's mentioned his name is on the game. Those alone got my attention in ways the nerd either hasn't, or haven't in a long time.
Don't get me wrong, he's unique and very sharp for his age. Its just all his so called immature stuff totally didnt go with the video at all....he pretty much took over the whole video....
You know, the Speedboard would actually be helpful when playing Toxic Avenger. Maybe someone saw the Speedboard and thought to himself: This thing is the future. We should make a game for it.
Oh my god jesus christ, I all most spitted coffee all over my keyboard because of this, right at 11:00 he can't do anything, but right after he turn around to curse and press random shitless, the character does the most awesome acrobatic move in ice skate ever!!! ahahahaha oh god!!!! GG
I love this! I'd like to see one with worst video game controllers. Still, everything you do is great and you make me laugh when I'm having a bad day. :)
iamaninsomniac I remember a long time ago looking at a list of worst-controlled games, and superman 64 was the number one spot. I was suprised it wasnt even on here.
Necro response here...it looks he only reviews 8-bit games or their more advanced system ports. He could do an incredible number of games with horrible controls if he included every game machine that has existed.

frostyguy1989 It should be common practice to play something as much as you can before you release the product. I know such was hard back in the days of the NES and 2600, but nowadays with dev kits for next gen systems, it is just laziness to release a crap product when they have all of the tools needed to test their product before it goes out. Of course programmers are people too, so nowadays for me, I realize that even with some of the worst product I've seen (Ninjabread Man on Wii, E.T. on Atari, Strawberry Shortcake on Atari), there's still hours and hours put into the product. There's a crapload of code, hundreds of hours on even the worst... Crazy Bus on MegaDrive though, there's absolutely no telling what that code for that pirate hack some Chinese guy made looks like. I bet you he didn't even use the standard notation before each line of code, he just used improper lines of code to create probably the worst product I've seen in years.
yes-in fact I can't believe at one point in time the controls in 3d games were like this: on rails-move forward or back and steer left and right. I am so accustomed to today's tilt the stick in x direction to run in that direction that I can hardly play those games. They're not RC cars. MY BRAIN DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY!!! I couldn't believe how clunky megaman 64 was when i played it-and even Croc, a game i remember loving when i was a kid. Same with bubsy-it makes even the most basic movements impossible-i had trouble landing on a floating platform-something that should be easy as F*&% on any other game
Dark Castle was a _port_ from the Macintosh and was designed for a keyboard and mouse (your attack was with the mouse) and even there some of the same problems occurred (getting on the stairs could be a pain)
I had Terminator 2 on Sega Genesis, and in the driving scenes, I found that if you can aim for the centre line you will make it through. Loved the game, but hard as hell, and there is a learning curve.
I take it the programmers never tried the games themselves. When I was young I wanted a CDI just for the Zelda game. Now I'm glad it never happened, as that would have been a huge disappointment.
LOL Ahh, that number 1 game (don't want to spoil for people who haven't watched it yet). That was probably the funniest episode you've ever had, Nerd. Thanks for the clip show. I know you're busy and these help bridge the gaps between episodes a lot :)
Cant stop the tears on my face laughter like you cant even imagine , 4mins 39 into the video , ive rewound it like 10 times ,,,,,the batman shit is out of this world funny man .... , cheers , fucking way too funny honestly

+Ernesto87 Wow! Really? I only played the SNES version. And I played it very, very little in my youth. Until I watched this, I'd actually forgotten about it.
"What game uses the select button?" You ask? Why, "Space Shuttle" by Activision for the Atari 2600. The select switch opened/closed the cargo doors in orbit and controlled the landing gear on re-entry. Yay for old farts with memory!!
Anybody watching this should listen to the CDi Dark Castle part with their smart device with ear phones. The game sound effects are downright hilarious.
'Nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh! Nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh! Nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh! Nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh! Nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh! Nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh!' 'Where did you learn to fly!? Where did you learn to fly!? Where did you learn to fly!? Where did you learn to fly!? Where did you learn to fly!? Where did you learn to fly!? ' lmfao
I've never heard of dark castle before, but keep seeing the character fall and cry OOF every 2 seconds at the end of the video, for some reason had me in stitches. Just the hopelessness of it all
Calmarius I love that kind of jump because exactly after pressing the button you could tell you fucked up and there was nothing you could do about it, but to keep watching until you died. Fucking Super Ghouls n' Ghosts.
+Calmarius It does work that way definitely. But some games' levels were designed the way you need _air control_. (I'm not talking about that horrible game.) Classic Castlevania is a prime example of having no control in the air doesn't punish you (except... errmmm... cough... medusa heads... cough), the levels were designed to that limited control. You can't really miss any jumps except if your enemies changes your trajectory by knocking you back. But in overall, I always find that limited, simple control fun because the level design was exactly for that.
Man, i sure am glad that i grew up with the ps2 slim. i don't remember playing any game with bad controls cause the gaming industry's focus changed from just making money on a simple game to focusing on making games that people enjoy and also make money.
Batman forever, it sucked back then, and it sucks forever
That is one of my favorite lines
I should know, i HAD that game for my SNES. I practically gave up on it as a kid and decided 'eh FUCK IT'
Jinnath
I first pulled it off on my GBC and have been able to do so ever since. then again, I have mutated monster hands.
I used to love Batman Forever on the Sega Genesis. The controls weren't bad.
I'm surprised anyone would rent the game, since the movie was crap.
I actually have that game.
This really makes you appreciate the care and thoughtfulness of the controls in super mario bros. You take it for granted, but it really took into account a lot of issues that affect usability.
When Mario jumps in Super Mario one, it's very, very stiff trying to redirect him.
@@dukeax6241 it's still not Kid Kool tho
The jumping in Mario brothers is very stiff
And kids today wonder why gamers of my age grew up to become bald, bitter deformed alcoholics.
Generational woes
There is much truth in this.
As a newer gen gamer this is the awnser I've needed my whole life
cheyennedogsoldiers LOL. I’m more of a vaper and I was born during the days of the N64, Sega Saturn, and PS1.
Just become your comment's 666th like
Someone should find the programmers of these games and have them react to the nerd's videos
That would be epic..
Someone should find the programmers and give each one of them 80 lashes.
Flash Smith i would imagine them saying he is right
well, this is just a wild guess. Some of the programmers might have been in their 20's-40's. So getting some of the guys who would be in their 50's and 60's wouldn't be that hard. The ones who would be in their 70's might be harder.
+Adam Potter video games arent that old haha
it would be fun to force some of these game's developers to play and finish their own games.. in my opinion if you design it you should be able to finish it
You're 30 years too late with that idea champ.
Its never too late to make them suffer, muahahahah!
You said it. Just like Mario Maker uploads. Lol
Mario maker in a nutshell
Of course they can. They know how the game works back and beyond, and they know all the cheats they've put in themselves.
I love how on Winter Games, as soon as he starts mashing the buttons at the end, the skater does a move and doesn't fall down.
That part where he yells "CDI" on the the Dark Castle video kills me everytime
I like how when he says "YOU DO THIS!" in the winter games section, the character actually does something in the game, and he didn't even see it.
***** Yeah, that's true. It's not really his fault. It's just a pet peeve of mine.
LOL Thank You for pointing that out
***** old post. But as far as I know some game footage have been recorded before the actual AVGN episodes. So he probably just smashes the buttons to make it look like he's playing
20 years from now the whole list will be Kinect games
Matt Revell no kidding
Matt Revell also wii games with motion controls
Levi Castelo most wii games have great motion controls
The Wii was the only console that did motion control right. Still prefer none motion control games though.
TheLonePantheist Probably because the rest needed to get the motion controls while the Wii was still popular!
YOU PRESS DOWN, TO JUMP. I love that part so much. lol
Dark Castle should be called Inner Ear Infection. How do you program a 2D sidescroller game where the player can't even walk in a straight line?
cyanmanta, this is a seriously underrated comment. Lol
8:50 I really enjoy when you can hear the real, deep frustration in his voice.
The main character in Dark Castle looks like Shaggy, I keep thinking it's him.
Glad I'm. to the only one who thought that
GonGames nerd said that in the video
+xXHurdyGurdyManXx I was browsing TvTropes and saw an article about Dark Castle. Apparently, the main character's name is "Duncan".
Or perhaps Peter Pan with a mullet
He IS Shaggy
Nyuh-nyuh nyuh-nyuh-nyuh!!
Woa-Uhhh-Uhhh
milk!!!
Sadpants McGee i laugh loud in the middle of night! oh those little bastards. 😁
Facts check out. Looked it up on Wikipedia 👍
The best part of the whole video. Those sound effects in dark castle makes my side ache from laughing so hard!
"No other game uses the select button"
Bloody Wolf on Turbografx-16 uses select as the grenade button. It's weird as shit yeah but at least Bloody Wolf is great
Who is that as your profile picture?
Also, didn't Mass Effect also use the select button to use grenades?
Punch out uses the select button
Castlevania: Rondo of Blood uses the select button for item crashes.
you use select on the menu screen of duck hunt
This is true with a lot of menu screens. Thus, being called "select".
Dark castle was comical, I lost it at the Cdi version
If I had the choices of playing Dark Castle or spend the entire weekend in jail, I would easily pick the jail sentence without hesitation.
Is there an option to be sentenced to death instead?
I've been to jail, believe me: you wouldn't, nancy boy
Kevin Vuile Rotte Lafaard I went to jail. They put me in a cell with 16 other guys. Nobody bothered me. I just sat around watching tv all day. We even got to eat cheeseburgers and fried chicken. They had one toilet for pissing and the toilet next to it was for shitting. They had a sign on the wall that said "don't let us catch you pissing sitting down". The shitting toilet was marked by a drawing of a skeleton taking a shit. Jail is not as bad as people say it is.
depends on the jail and what you were sentenced for
NyanyanyanyanYanyanya....
If he thinks Batman Forever's controls suck... He should play Batman and Robin on PS1....
***** I love your profile pic. Yukari is my Persona waifu
God, they just get progressively worse with each entry, just like the movies they were based on!
They finally have on *James & Mike Mondays.* 😆
Funny how it's another 'Batman' game.
James and I are just one moth apart in age.
I just smiled to myself when I found out about that.
Wish we were friends growing up. He had some fun hobbies - games, film making, amature animation ^_^
Well here's to you james and for hopefully ten more years of the Nerd.
I got dark castle on C.. D.... IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIAAAAAAAHHHHIIIIIIII
Lucky D:
+Jake Duran The Nerd has unleashed his Inner Demon! :P
Let's flick that shit switch and crank up that diarrhea dial!!!
ikr best moment in avgn history :D
*Gates of Hell open*
I love how these monsters keep mocking you. Nyenyenyenyenye
More like "ñañañañaña".
That is actually the sound of your character dying.
I get the feeling that the dark castle game was developed to make everything else the hero. The environment wins.
I laughed so hard I had tears coming from my eyes watching the Dark Castle controls! The noises added to the comedy!
I felt the same way!
My favorite episode 😂
Lmfao that whole conversation with spiderman and james
*I love how **_Spider-Man_** had a comeback for everything said about the controller controls.* 🎮🤣
Watching him try to play dark castle on the cdi is hilarious
The CD-i Dark Castle character sounds like Butthead when he gets dizzy.
I got Batman Forever for Christmas back when I was kid.
Never finished because it was so fucking horrible and never found out how to use the items besides the hook.
Those weird third party controllers that's covered in Cheeto cheese that you have to use when you go over to your friends house ....
I wonder who is nerd's biggest enemy in his show, LJN or the stairs in games? LJN is self explanatory, but it's like every game he ever plays that features stairs has to screw them up.
Nostalfia Critic
I love that you keep reviewing old games, don't let them be forgotten!
Having a fucking up button as fucking jump is fucking fucked up!
Pressing up to duck is pretty fucked up!
Pressing down... to jump... that has to take the cake.
Smash Bros does that and I don't mind
But for platformers it's horrible
rust2rust19
And having a DOWN button to jump is even more fucked up
11:08 Look at the TV in the back here, where James mashes buttons.
He is actually doing something without noticing xD
Omfg. That last part was so fucking hilarious I literally couldn't stop laughing
It gets me every time you try to throw a rock quickly in dark castle and it just throws at the ground
That face at 9:25 gets me every time. It's so perfect! 😂😂😂
Cockamamie, not enough people use that word anymore........
Tisk-tisk, I have never heard such language.
I like these clip collections! Keep them up James. They bring back all the memories of especially funny episodes, like the batman ones for instance
4:35 - 5:25
One of my favorite Nerd moments!
For Wand of Gameleon, there were 3 buttons on the controller AVGN was using. Why couldn't they just make the status screen the 3rd button?
Oh wait, FORGOT, that would make too much sense!
You can't change the controls in that game
Npc_madman
Sorry for taking a while to reply. I meant for the game designers, not Cinemassacre.
The Zachvolt k
Because that's not the default controller, and they couldn't be bothered to change the controls to suit the other controllers.
"I can't even last two seconds on the first screen!" Dark Castle CD-I reminds me of when Milhouse played the arcade game of Kevin Costner's Waterworld in The Simpsons.
Ah, the Toxic Crusaders guy. I do believe he stole the show in that one episode.
Michael Salter You disagree?
Michael Salter I found that he was a lot more crazy than the nerd character, and just look at him work off the nerd when it's mentioned his name is on the game. Those alone got my attention in ways the nerd either hasn't, or haven't in a long time.
Meta E. actually he made it unwatchable for me.....I hate that old fuck
1Sandwitch1 I'd believe it. He really was something out of left field.
Don't get me wrong, he's unique and very sharp for his age. Its just all his so called immature stuff totally didnt go with the video at all....he pretty much took over the whole video....
9:24 that face is just to memorable
You know, the Speedboard would actually be helpful when playing Toxic Avenger. Maybe someone saw the Speedboard and thought to himself: This thing is the future. We should make a game for it.
4:38 Quite possibly the best AVGN rant I’ve seen so far
"You'd have better luck playing Silver Surfer with the Power Glove"
😂😂😂
4:35 My favorite Nerd face
+bushbasher85 So is 9:25
+See it or Flick it. 9:25 is my Favorite
See it or Flick it. Flicker
See it or Flick it. Should be his thumbnail
IAMBATMAN
Oh my god jesus christ, I all most spitted coffee all over my keyboard because of this, right at 11:00 he can't do anything, but right after he turn around to curse and press random shitless, the character does the most awesome acrobatic move in ice skate ever!!! ahahahaha oh god!!!! GG
I bought Spiderman for a shit ton of money. It's been over 15 years and I haven't figured out which button does what.
I love this! I'd like to see one with worst video game controllers. Still, everything you do is great and you make me laugh when I'm having a bad day. :)
You know stuff gets real when The Nerd says that this this the worst controls in a game and then it’s only number 2
Wait...so...there's no...Superman 64?
Apparently he found games that control worse than Superman. I guess it's just his preference.
iamaninsomniac I remember a long time ago looking at a list of worst-controlled games, and superman 64 was the number one spot. I was suprised it wasnt even on here.
shakeitupT Honestly I was surprised too. But I guess these were found to be worse.
Necro response here...it looks he only reviews 8-bit games or their more advanced system ports. He could do an incredible number of games with horrible controls if he included every game machine that has existed.
He already reviewed Superman 64 years ago.
Before I go number 1 here are some honorable or in this case.... dishonorable mentions
Terminator (NES)
The Amazing Spider-Man (Gameboy)
Lester The Unlikely (SNES)
Shaq-Fu (SNES)
Karate Champ (NES)
Ha,I get that WatchMojo reference
Hi Peacock. :3
+Quadarrius cg
I just realized that for the spider man review, that Spider Man was played by Kyle Justin. Usually the characters are played by Mike Mattei.
Thanks for putting those commercials at the end!!! I haven’t seen a single comment regarding this but it makes so much of a difference!
WHAT WHERE THEY THINKING?!?!?!?!? xD my favorite line :D
"Cowa-Fuckin'-piece-of-dogshit" was mine.
Fred Fuchs
And AAAASSSSSSSSSSSS
That was hilarious 🤣 dark castle should be “drunken castle master 3”
OMG, dark Castle commentary had me laughing to tears!
In france we have a avgn too "joueurdugrenier/player of the attic" and our ljn was... infogram
What about Titus?
i dunno him so xD
I meant Titus the french game developer company. It has made such games as Carmageddon 64, The Blues Brothers, RoboCop and Superman 64. These are just the infamous ones, but there were a few decent publications (like Worms World Party). It went bankrupt in 2005.
oh ok yup but infogram is know for their bad ans hard game and it's the worst enemy of the player of the attic :p
Didnt they make north and south though? That was good.
"space invader ensemble of bats" is still one of my favorite nerd lines :D
The sound effects in the last game are hilarious :-)
Video game producers should get fired for making these games very frustrating and unfair to point where they are almost unplayable.
Worse. They should be made to play them front to back.
i like that
even best idea play it if they cant beat it
RE DO THE DAMN THING LIKE MARIO.
frostyguy1989 It should be common practice to play something as much as you can before you release the product. I swear Dark Castle has to be a joke. Like, your character TRIPS while he's walking? What the living shit? That's like...Downs level of game design.
Joarthus I always found that part to be funny. Sorta like Dirk the Daring, just an overall doofus. XD
The batman thing made me ROFL.
I like how when he's ranting about the controls in winter games, he does a fucking triple axle spin!
Dark Castle was a _port_ from the Macintosh and was designed for a keyboard and mouse (your attack was with the mouse) and even there some of the same problems occurred (getting on the stairs could be a pain)
Bruce Grubb as often, this explain a lot..
I had Terminator 2 on Sega Genesis, and in the driving scenes, I found that if you can aim for the centre line you will make it through. Loved the game, but hard as hell, and there is a learning curve.

Dark Castle < A big, solid, green shit
LOL Ahh, that number 1 game (don't want to spoil for people who haven't watched it yet). That was probably the funniest episode you've ever had, Nerd. Thanks for the clip show. I know you're busy and these help bridge the gaps between episodes a lot :)
*James you are the funniest and most logic guy on earth*
11:12
"The controls are fucked up beyond belief, and that's the hardest thing to explain"
Lold so bad
Shaq-Fu didn't make it into the list?
Burt Rusfield in our hearts it did
Shaq-fu isn't that bas.
Thanks for the Versus mode
I wish we could get a full AVGN or Mike and James Play of CDi Dark Castle!
9:01
One of my favorites "bullshit" moments
Watching those memories, I have realized that AVGN has lost his "angry" feature in his recent videos.
#1 made my day, thanks
"Come on, it's the mark of the devil." "This game is the devil!"
“You think that makes me happy!!, it doesn’t!”
My first Side scrole game was Prince of Persia, Ninja, and Duke for Dos PC.
I like when his face gets zoomed in and gets mad at “ you press down to jump “ that killed me
Cant stop the tears on my face laughter like you cant even imagine , 4mins 39 into the video , ive rewound it like 10 times ,,,,,the batman shit is out of this world funny man .... , cheers , fucking way too funny honestly
The first time I saw the Dark Castle episode I laughed so freakin hard I could've puked! Definitely the funniest one I've ever seen!!
I forgot which game it was, but in it you press right on the D-pad to jump and A button to go right. beat that.
I think I have played a game with those controls! It was f---ing horrible.
...a game with that controls must have been made by n00bs which are more comfortable with PC controls, so they made a game with PC-like controls. if they really made controls like that because they are more comfortable for the creators, then they are real noobs. they should think about who buys the game NOT JUST FOR THEMSELVES
Is the game Pacland by any chance? That game is a fucking turd.
I don't know the name. I do know it was a platformer.
Sounds like the kind of control layout a Tiger handheld would have.
And this is being recommended to me in 2020 now. No complaints these vids are timeless
Man coming back to these videos makes me feel all warm and tingly inside.
"sometimes you get lucky, and sometimes you dont" lol! ;)
Batman Forever was the only game from the vid that I ever played.
Me too
The Genesis version is WAY worse than the Snes version.
+Ernesto87 Wow! Really? I only played the SNES version. And I played it very, very little in my youth. Until I watched this, I'd actually forgotten about it.
The Genesis version has the same controls, but factor in the standard 3 button controller and you got yourself a bad time.
Wow! And James was having enough trouble with TWICE that amount of buttons.
It plays better if you have the six-button controller.
I love how spider man's over there heckling you l o l
So this is why control options were created.
'Nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh! Nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh! Nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh! Nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh! Nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh! Nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh!'
'Where did you learn to fly!? Where did you learn to fly!? Where did you learn to fly!? Where did you learn to fly!? Where did you learn to fly!? Where did you learn to fly!? '
lmfao
😆😂😆😂😆
*Hong Kong 97 theme*
I almost died of laughing at the finale ^^
I don’t think I’ve ever heard the Nerd as genuinely mad as he was during Batman Forever
I've never heard of dark castle before, but keep seeing the character fall and cry OOF every 2 seconds at the end of the video, for some reason had me in stitches. Just the hopelessness of it all
I had Dark Castle when I was a kid. It's truly awful but you can get used to it.
Inability to control your jump in midair is the way real physics work... Unless you put rocket thrusters on your body...
Calmarius I love that kind of jump because exactly after pressing the button you could tell you fucked up and there was nothing you could do about it, but to keep watching until you died.
Fucking Super Ghouls n' Ghosts.

Classic Castlevania is a prime example of having no control in the air doesn't punish you (except... errmmm... cough... medusa heads... cough), the levels were designed to that limited control. You can't really miss any jumps except if your enemies changes your trajectory by knocking you back. But in overall, I always find that limited, simple control fun because the level design was exactly for that.

brie,
God I'm fucking tired of these unskippable ADS...
he tripped walking on and off the bridge in dark castle. I’m dead 😂
Man, i sure am glad that i grew up with the ps2 slim. i don't remember playing any game with bad controls cause the gaming industry's focus changed from just making money on a simple game to focusing on making games that people enjoy and also make money.
