- The Nerd reviews several accessories for the NES to find out how good or bad they are, including the NES Zapper and Power Pad, the Konami LaserScope, the Brøderbund UForce, and the LJN Roll & Rocker. He also spends some time finding out what the Super Scope for the SNES is like to play games with. This is Angry Video Game Nerd Episode 47.
Back in 1985, the NES helped to revitalize the video game industry following the crash of '83. Nintendo set the standard when it came to video game consoles with this 8-bit home entertainment console and was the first to endorse third-party development. This, of course, led to many games -- and, the subject of this video, accessories designed to enhance the player's experience with their games. Some were good -- such as the NES Max or the Zapper, though a lot more were terrible. Today, The Nerd looks at some of the worst, or lesser-known, and determines whether or not they perform as expected -- such as the Konami Laser Scope and the LJN Roll 'n' Rocker, and of course, hilarity ensues.

The landing sequence with the U-Force is one of my favorite scenes in the entire series, what with how it foregoes all music and dialogue for a while, leaving only the ambient noise of an engine filling the silence of tight concentration on finally getting that fighter jet to land... and then...

AVGN is one of those UA-camrs that deserve more subscribers. He's been on youtube for 15 years and only gained 3.5 million subscribers. Meanwhile, there are reaction channels that gain 20 million subscribers in just a few years.

Notice how on the rolling rock, all the characters were moving, turning or walking the right, but in the Beetlejuice game made by the infamous LJN, Beetlejuice is running to the left. Almost as its proof that LJN was not going in the right direction, and that makes a lot of sense considering that most NES platformers, including Mario going towards the right.

One of the perks of watching this again over seven years later is that I couldn't remember whether or not the joystick helped him to actually land the plane in Top Gun, so the editing to build suspense on the landing was top-notch.
I really don't think it was down to the controller though, I've heard landing in that game is next to impossible. Probably more difficult than landing an actual plane.
I.P. It's not that difficult. The controls are inverted, which explains a lot.
