You can always go around the fortified planets or go south and south-west. More income is what you need to keep competing with the AI. I'd say go south rather than south-west because it's former Hutt territory. There's a lot of valuable planets there and it's less defended than Hapan territory. The thing with ion cannons is that the moment the enemy has no shields left, they become useless because they do no damage to hull. With the Bulwarks, you already have a lot of ions so looking for more ion is not a priority. The Neutron Star cruiser is okay. I would use it if given to me but I would never build it. It shoots really fast medium turbos and it has heavy lasers so It can screen your fleet from aircraft. You have 2 ships that are similar but are better, which are the Dreadnaught Carrier and the Nebulon-B at your regular shipyard. Never hurts to take a good look at your core roster and see what ships might worth using. For your black market ships, all of them are good options except the Vengeance, the Munificient and the Providence Also there is nothing wrong with going back a tier of ships and focus on building heavy frigates instead if the money or time isn't there. CSA has a variety of HFs at it's disposal afterall. I had great results using the Dauntless as my main ship. Granted I was playing the New Republic but the Dauntless is the same for both factions, except for the fighters. But I had a lack of money to spare on the modern NR designed ships so it was a good ship to fallback on
Yaaa I hesitate going south because Klatooine is such a good choke point to be able to defend everything effectively with my current empire. I’ll have to deal with killing factions eventually so I might as well get it over with and continue to go west into pentastar too, and it helps to get another corner secured too And ya I might start looking into nebulons, they seem like a very good option. My income is so good that I can definitely to keep busting out bulwarks to fund my awful attacks 😂
