Love this wonderful fusion of Mexican/Veracruz/American culture, experience, and history with traditional song and dance and tap dance. May you thrive, evolve and remain cultural role models for the new generations coming up!
I love when she says "making music with my feet always felt good in my body...I picked up the rythms fast with my friends..." We puertorricans feel something similar when we dance our traditional 'bomba' with friends playing the 'congas'. Is like a powerful fusion of body, spirit & music. Thank u for sharing y mucho ÉXITO. 👍
Hello @Miranda Miranda! Thank you for taking the time to watch our video and add such a thoughful comment. We also have an episode about Puerto Rican bomba that you can watch here: ua-cam.com/video/z0vzkGKEWX4/v-deo.html
It just dawned on me that the Mexican American culture is a time portal from one generation to the next! Everything from their clothing to their cars and Mexico history.... Impressive!😃😎
I love this! ✨💖✨💖✨ And to take place in San Francisco, is amazing! My favorite city, love to visit often! Would love to check this out sometime!👏🏼😘 ✨💖✨💖✨💖✨💖✨💖✨ KQED love the programming, from way back as a child!🥰🥰
Yup this was the lifestyle of the chicanas of LA and some still dress like this and there is nothing wrong you know I think Mexican Americans should do both dances like do clogging and also do there zapataeo I can’t spell it right but I try my best but anyways I think they should also dance there American 🇺🇸 dances as well
I wouldn't really call it appropriation but more of a fusion since they are not taking *tap* as their own but are incorporating thier own Mexican footwork as well.
i think as along as they are not claiming it as they own then it’s not appropriation they mentioned it’s african american origins so as a black american i wouldn’t necessarily call it appropriation

I love Chicano culture but Is this not cultural appropriation of tap dance?
