Then a lovely cruise through New mills to a mooring at Furnace Vale. What spectacular views across to the hills. Time to paint the top of the gunnels. I hope the nettle stings didn't get in your way. (Another non-smiling jogger went by). A lovely video. Beautiful scenery Gorgeous countyrside. Stay safe please.
One thing I've learned during the many years that I've walked the planet is to stop giving a fig about what other people might think. Those who know you, know who you are and what you're about, you shouldn't have to justify why or how many times you take a drink :-) I'm a big fan of The Queen too, she was my boss for 22 years :-) I've managed to get seats at Trooping the Colour this year - which I'm looking forward to. If you are an alcoholic so am I as I always watch your videos at night when it’s Cognac time it’s nice to drink with company 😂… it certainly is a beautiful canal my favourite spa is in New Mills (Titanic Spa) it’s an old mill conversion with many of the features still intact I spend more time watching the boats on the canal than I do in the spa …. Great paint job happy cruising 😊

I owned a 40-foot twin-engine 1939 built wood power boat for 18 years. Yep, even without primer, just get a coat on the old girl, better than no coat at all, eh? And actually, after your paint job, she's looking right nice!
Good idea to keep slapping paint on one's bottom to keep the brown stuff at bay, just what I do. You mentioned the Crick Boat Show, the staff here are working very hard to get the site ready while I'm working equally as hard to get Idle Days ready so we can get out on the cut before it starts; we don't like the crowds. Should be good for those that like a good crush though!

I built houses for folks most of my life. Painting is a job I mostly avoided. I would have sat in a chair and cheered you on. Now I need to go till the two potato patches before the really hot happens. Rather do fire wood.

I worked with an older lady and her daughter worked there as well. The mother had already told people she always painted naked, we used to tease the daughter all the time if she was doing any painting. Apparently she did not have old clothes to paint in. Unfortunately whenever someone is painting I think back to that.

Spend a bit more love and buy Hammerite, be ideal for your gun'als (gunwales), sticks like poo to the surface and will last 4 times as long as any other make. Years ago I painted my 25 foot lattice railway signal (as you do!), rigged up a bosuns chair so could lower myself down bit at a time - that paint was magic, lasted years and looked like new!

To save some money, that sander should be fine on the inverter, saves running the generator, PS its not a drink, its Dutch courage, for helming 20 tonnes of boat, like threading a needle through a haystack, lol
Have watched all your vlogs, they are fantastic. I have loved the Shropshire Union Canal since I was a child, now 83, and still manage to get there now and then.. My niece has a narrowboat based in Venetian. Looking forward to 52.

Always fun and enjoyable. Love the country why because I live in a town of 400 people on a 30 acre farm been here for 50 years moved here from the city when I was 25. Someday if I'm really lucky I'll be able to rent a narrowboat and have a great time. Thank you! Just because! I saw the queen when I was a young boy in Newfoundland just standing on the side of the road waving, funny that.
As most of it was over existing paint it doesn't really need primer and a lot of metal paints nowadays are direct to metal formula, so as long as it tidies your home and shop it's a job well done.
You did a good job painting and your boat looks good. Don't take it to heart comments about alcohol, guess they don't get your sense of humour plus a tipple a day keeps the doctor away or is that an apple 🤣 Its bloody annoying standing in dog poop, people shudnt have dogs if they can't clean up after them. Maybe you will get some good luck, or is that horse muck.🤣 ❤

Oh Sandra, go for it ❤️🏴☠️ myself and some friends hired some boats in Scotland a few years ago … we did Glasgow to Edinburgh inc the Falkirk wheel .. the good thing about the Scottish canals is they do the locks for you 😂🏴☠️
Love the new paint, as you say the top dollar stuff is ok but it will still get knackered about on the gunnels and rubbing strips, as long as you're happy with it that's all that matters. Stay safe Bab....................................................

They get scuffed to bits constantly going in and out of locks and mooring on piling so constantly need touching up 😂😄

Always fun and enjoyable. Love the country why because I live in a town of 400 people on a 30 acre farm been here for 50 years moved here from the city when I was 25. Someday if I'm really lucky I'll be able to rent a narrowboat and have a great time. Thank you! Just because! I saw the queen when I was a young boy in Newfoundland just standing on the side of the road waving, funny that.

As most of it was over existing paint it doesn't really need primer and a lot of metal paints nowadays are direct to metal formula, so as long as it tidies your home and shop it's a job well done.

Oh Sandra, go for it ❤️🏴☠️ myself and some friends hired some boats in Scotland a few years ago … we did Glasgow to Edinburgh inc the Falkirk wheel .. the good thing about the Scottish canals is they do the locks for you 😂🏴☠️

Also, a good cure for nettle stings is to rub it with a Dock leaf. They usually grow nearby to nettles.

Love the new paint, as you say the top dollar stuff is ok but it will still get knackered about on the gunnels and rubbing strips, as long as you're happy with it that's all that matters. Stay safe Bab....................................................
