If you want to build confidence in your self, make promises to yourself and keep them.
Small things accumulate, take for example telling yourself “I’m gonna do 8 push ups” and you do them that’s like an added 0.01% confidence but if you do that a lot of times it’ll add up fast.
Bigger promises like “I’m gonna go for a run today” or “I won’t drink soda today” will offer bigger increases to your self confidence.
Over time the effects will very quickly begin to compound and multiply off one another until you see tremendous results.

I can totally relate to the childhood part you mentioned. I had an overall good one growing up that I feel made me a little too soft because I became so reliant on my parents to do everything for me instead of taking initiative and getting things done myself which is where I'm at now at 26. Looking back I'm amazed and a bit ashamed it's taken me this long to finally "get it".

I’m starting to take more initiative in my life. I realized I’m not strong enough of a man for the woman I love and this week was genuinely the hardest week I had in a long time. The last of my marijuana is gone and it’ll stay like that for awhile. Focusing on school, finding a better paying job are what I want. I want her to see I’m strong and can get out of the struggle to lift her out of the struggle.
