    TWO-ROCK TRADITIONAL CLEAN 100 WATT
Big, bold, chimey, shimmery clean tones with loads of headroom and a sweet spring reverb. Not a wonder that players like Eric Johnson, John Mayer and Josh Smith, just to name a few, are avid Two-Rock players.
Ray Kainz demonstrates some of the tones and features available on the 100 watt Traditional Clean head from Two-Rock Amplification using a Suhr Classic S Antique guitar.

I’m not sure why, but these amplifiers sound SO much better in person. could be method of recording or the guitar used.

Was just looking and hoping someone posted a new video of this amp and much to my surprise this went up 20 minutes ago :)

Every time I hear this amp I just tilt my head and go "uh... there it is..."

It's not a bass boost. The bass is taken out of the pre-amp section and passed through. That's why the volume drops. The bass becomes deeper though and softer.
The bright swithch is a what you'll find on Fender amps. The mid switch is a boost of a certain range of mids. It ads gain as well.
I own the 40 watts with the 4 6v6 tubes. It sounds somehow different, but not much. 40 watts in Two-Rock land is bloody loud. You can't open the amp up in your house if you don't want your ears to hurt and the house free from shaking. But even at lower volumes, this amp sounds huge and bold. Put some pedals in front, and it's the perfect pedal platform. You don't run out of headroom. It remains defined and doesn't fart out.
It's like a Fender 65 twin reverb, but bigger and bolder that can take all pedals (which the twin can't).

Did you have a chance to compare the 40 watt Traditional Clean to the Studio Signature? I’m curious about any tone differences and headroom. Thanks!

@@maz109 Yes, I own both. I can't describe the difference. My favourite is the TC. It's 'softer', the high end is more rounded. It's the amp that gets me my tone. You have to play them to feel the difference. It's a feel thing imo.

colaboytje Unfortunately there’s not many places around me with any decent stock. Obviously can’t get out now to try them out but hoping to get either the TC or Studio. Glad to hear your preference though. Ideally I’d like max headroom just because I already have a couple amps with the lower wattage thing going on.

Hi, there aren’t any blindfold challenges with a two rock, boutique amps, and fenders… it would be great to see if people can really tell the two rock apart

Has anyone hear run a modeling device such as fractal or quad cortex into this amp? Either through the front end or through the fx loop?

Are these amps PTP Handwired? Do they use turret boards? PCBs?

Two-Rocks are handwired amps. Here's a pic of the inside of a Classic Reverb Signature model:

It's far uglier looking than the other amps - why would they do that?

    • @colaboytje
      @colaboytje 4 роки тому +8

I think it's the best looking one. The others aren't ugly, but the traditional clean is has class and looks timeless.

It’s handmade, and the attention to detail is insane. Call some of it useless, but you get what you pay for...

Yeah, and honestly it doesn't sound THAT great. I own a couple Friedmans which even the smallbox has a better clean tone IMO, but that's just my personal taste. I love the sound of 6L6 amps too, usually more than any other amp type. Maybe it's just this demo, but this amp just doesn't sound great IMO. I think the Crystal sounded better even though this amp is technically a replacement for the Crystal.

I'm just not STRATified. Yes Albert Lee would sound much more lively playing through a two rock than a music man. But Lee's style on a strat or a tele never made any sense to my ears. Except for surf, clean guitar tones with a strat sound weak, lifeless and uninteresting no matter the amp. Indeed every rocker (except maybe 2) plays either a strat or some other solid body tele, lp or prs but none plays clean, not even U2. What a monotone. Just make a guitar with sculpted brick concrete for the body but use very good p/u's. That's what I think of strats and lps for clean. And I love clean. But way back sometime before 1968 when people played nothing except clean there was this guitar style called a hollow body. And Leo Fender voiced his black faced amps, the last hall mark before selling out to cbs, to such hollow bodies. Nobody since.
