Proform XP550 treadmill incline stuck. I fix by disabling the incline.

  • My treadmill was stuck in the highest incline position and would not operate. This video provides a look inside the treadmill at the incline mechanism. In order to be able to use the treadmill at all I disabled the incline by disconnecting it. You can get a great workout on a treadmill without incline, but it's no fun having a treadmill you cannot walk or run on.
This video was recorded several years ago and was very popular on UA-cam. When my entire channel with over 2200 videos was stolen by someone in Russia on September 18, 2019 this video was lost. UA-cam has provide no support in helping me recover my channel so I'm reposting my best videos one at a time. Boo UA-cam for encouraging people to be video creators and then providing zero support.

my incline motor failed and I took it out, but it then occured to me that by manually turning the motor (having removed the wiring cable and electric harnesses etc) I coul keep some permanent incline on the unit rather than none. So he's right, disconnect all of the motor and remove it, strip it of all wires and the coil that comprises the motor housing, but keep the motor drum. reinstall everything and manually turn the drum of the now stripped incline motor. it will take a moment but you'll start seeing the deck incline. Get it to where you want it, and leave it. Put the cap back on over the whole motor and electric compartment and you're done.

my wife has 2 treadmills in her kennel for dogs, ..the golds gym one inclined to highest on it's own & stuck - as well, - thanks to dogs peeing on the power cord, the metal prongs were toast - so I'd replaced the cord - now I'm here...gives me hope!

Thanks, Steve. Quite a few years later, this morning, I just posted another exercise video. You've got your treadmill working and it's no cost to you now, but you might find my new video interesting. I've made 3000 videos since this one, but it is still in the top 10 of all my videos. I'm glad it helped you! Happy 2022! Rich

Hi everybody. If you have the time, this is a great video to overview a treadmill incline problem. In each of many shoots, he does a summary of what was done so far. If you jump to 12:20, the solution he found was to just disconnect the incline. Ours is brand new and I caused it taking it apart to move from one room to another. I screwed it up and it might have something to do with the “recalibrating” feature described here. Thanks for the optimistic banter. 🍎

Mine over extended and jumped the track somehow!? The tread inclines to 10°, so mine must have been up to 13°.
That was a very long video just to say "un plug it". I had the same problem but I can see that the incline straight gear bar has moved past the working teeth and off the end such that the gear is trying to turn in the direction of inclining and doing that jump from tooth to tooth. All I needed to do was unbolt the bar and insert it into the track I think... correction, inalso had to pull the IR wheel and a c-clip off so that I could pull the round cog out far enough to insert the bad cog (rack and pinion?). Be careful if you pull the gear axle all the way out because there are cylendrical bearings that seem like they could fall out.

I just bought the Pro Form 750 from a garage sale and it is stuck on an incline level. I tried resetting it per the instruction manual but it didnt do anything at all. Do you know how to reset it so it works normally and goes up and down like it's supposed to?

    • @richdavis4007

If the video can't help you, I can't now since I don't have the treadmill anymore. Disabling incline would be easy. You'll have a treadmill you can use that will serve just as well as walking around the block, or running around the block if you prefer.

Having had serious back issues for 20 years or so my suggestion is get a massage pillow and use it frequently. Then walk or treadmill for 30 minutes a day. Go at slightly fast walking pace. Avoid pounding exercise. Walking is THE best and safest exercise. In 2006 doctors made my herniated disc and arthritis sound awful. All these years later, without drugs or surgery, I'm doing just fine. I exercise a lot and keep my weight down. Rich Davis
