Videos like this are part of why I love UA-cam. This is a clear, concise, and extremely helpful video. After just a few minutes online now I can fix my treadmill competently. Thanks!
My treadmill is different than yours. You tightened your belt using an Allen wrench. I tightened mine using a socket wrench. Heck, I didn't even know those spots existed on the treadmill. Thank you so much, RJ! I nearly worried myself to death for 3 hours wondering what I was gonna do. Thanks again and thanks to the founders of UA-cam! With UA-cam, I've repaired a washing machine, a lawn mower, a headlight/taillight in the car and now a treadmill. I feel unstoppable.
Wow, I had bought a used treadmill, used it for a week straight everyday for 4 miles, the walking belt started ripping in the dead center. Needless to say I spent $80 on a new walking belt, lost 2 weeks of walking (which I was/am ADDICTED to) finally got the belt shipped and begged two guy friends to help and we didn't have the right ratchet bit, after taking out most all other bolts and screws. Long story short, an hour a day for 3 days (as a girl mostly by myself) got the belt on and was so excited. Turned it on, it worked and finally lined it up and it started slipping. Your video was the first that popped up and wow, WHAT A SAINT YOU ARE!!!! Thank you very much for making this video, I am now a subscriber!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!
I love that you can find instructions for just about anything on UA-cam. My new treadmill felt wonky with the belt and the instruction manual was not clear how to address it. Thank you for posting this video!
Cheers. Had a new treadmill delivered yesterday, and was slipping right from the getgo. Whoever installed it didn't tighten it up from the box, and I had to give it like 3 full turns to stop it from slipping. It's perfect now.
NOTE: This product works exactly as described. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxguEIMc_Qwab-3QMTpF6jaRL80hiOOsIN It originally earned a four-star review due to a minor defect (see below). However, the manufacturer's customer service rep (Lita) went above and beyond the call of duty and deserves five stars now. I wish I could give even more!I purchased this item which arrived quickly. Assembly instructions were easy to follow. There was only one problem: One bolt did not screw into the hole properly. I called the company. Their customer service rep (Lita) was terrific! She took all my information and submitted a request to replace the defective part. I'm hoping to finish assembly and start using this treadmill soon. (Fingers crossed...)FOLLOW UP: Lita called back to inform me that the company will send a replacement part AND a technician(!!) to install it properly. AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Thank you!!
Lifesaver! We purchased a new treadmill about 10 days ago and this started happening from the beginning. As someone in comments mentioned, I thought I was too heavy so that's why that's happening. I looked at the menu that came with the treadmill, zero info on slipping and how to fix it. I thought we will have to return the damn thing and then I decided to look up "treadmill slipping" on youtube. THANK YOU!
We had a treadmill from Sears for almost 30 years. Of course, it was rarely used. Not once in those 30 years was it adjusted or lubed, but it worked perfectly when ever someone removed the hanging clothes to use it. I retired 6 years ago and starting using it daily. Finally, after 2 years of heavy use by me, the motor burned out. We got a new cheap "AFG" treadmill from Dick's Sporting Goods in Boston. From day one it turned out to be a LEMON. -Constantly pulling to the right and speeding up/slowing down. I did all the adjustments the manual said to do, and it would work for a few days, until the whole process would start over and over again. No one in my family would use it, which was a blow to my ego because I was constantly telling them, "I fixed it." This went on over a year -again because of my ego, so the warranty was voided. Finally, I decided, that THIS ENDS NOW!!! So I took over 2 hours vacuuming it out, applying belt dressing to the motor drive belt, adjusting the motor drive belt, recalibrating the speed, lubing the running belt and convincing myself that it'd work better if I wiped the whole thing down with those alcohol wipes -hee hee-(not kidding). So, I get on it thinking I've done all I can, and IT LITERALLY TRIES TO KILL ME. It immediately starting speeding/slowing and I had to FIGHT LIKE HELL to stay on!!! This was the first time I had to pull the "Safety" plug to stay alive!! I was LIVID!! I was at my wits end, so I decided to find a repairman. The only guy we found wanted $125 just to show up!!! I know he would've just done the same things I did and tell me "it's fixed." It'd work for a few days until it became "possessed" again and I'd even be MORE upset thinking the next step would be to call a Priest. That's when I decided to examine the motor which always seemed fine. I removed it from the chassis......and get this......IT WAS MISSING ONE OF THE 2 SCREWS underneath that holds it to the frame!!!!! So that means all the tightening of the motor belt I was doing was only causing it to pull harder on the left side of the front rolling belt which made it act like a fulcrum and pull the running belt hard to the right over time!!!! And to add insult to injury, there was a SIGNED inspection sticker RIGHT NEXT TO THE MISSING SCREW!!! UGH!!! So now to find a properly threaded screw to make up for the missing one. This was harder than it sounds because it had to be very short so as not to puncture the interior of the motor casing. I got lucky with a hacksaw, but it took a few tries. Sooooo now, everything works great!! The running pad still pulls to the left/right, but I think that's because of all the "rage" tightening I was doing over the years, so I might have warped it. Now I've found if it pulls to the right, just run on that side and it'll go back to the middle quickly.....(pause).....(deep breath).....thanks for listening......
Thank you! You saved me tons of money with this video. I've had my treadmill for about 5 years and it just started slipping recently. I never even knew you could tighten the belt. Everyone I asked about it told me the only remedy was buying a new one. I tightened the bolts and BAM that did the trick!
Thanks for the vid. I just got a treadmill from a friend and it was slipping. I had no clue what was going on and felt my excitement slipping as well. When you did the arm test and then tightened yours with an allen wrench it blew my mind. I tried putting my arm under the belt and I was able to poke my fingers through the other side! After a couple quarter turns it was perfect. Thank you.
Thanks a ton dear, earlier was just playing balance game on treadmill for the last 6 months.., today did 5 kms with ease and comfort in 30 minutes.. Millions of thanks👌👍✨
Omg, this video was a lifesaver. My wife and I could not figure out why our belt was drifting to one side of the frame. Thanks to this video, problem solved! Thanks!
I haven't ran on my treadmill yet after tightening it with an allen wrench, but I'm pretty sure this will fix my issue. Saved me an hour wait time on the phone with Nordic Track. Thank You, Great Video!
Thanks, pal. Even though the culprit of my treadmill slipping its belt was different, your video pointed me in the right direction. The belt adjusters were at different positions and needed to be realigned. Thankfully, the from pulleys have a kind of a cone variator at the front, so you can see how much it slides to left or right. At lower speed, you can adjust the tighteners and watch the belt moving ever so slightly to the centered position. Also, your lubricate video is already saved for a future use. Thanks again.
you the man, just bought a walking pad & was stuttering/slipping like crazy after I finished lubricating it & re-aligning. I didn't think it was loose because it felt tight, but who knows because it is a Walkling pad & not a treadmill being much smaller. I tried your tightening method & completely fix my issue, I thought I bought a broken machine lol,,, THANK YOU!
I just bought a used treadmill for $ 50 . after I tried the belt was slipping . Was very sad that i collected someones rubbish. After watching your video fixed the belt. Its running good . Very happy . Thanks for sharing such a video.👍👍👍👍
great video, had a problem with my treadmill and after watching 12 videos all wanting me to take my treadmill apart, this video showed me i can fix it really simply
This helped a LOT! My belt kept slipping and I wasn't sure what the problem was, but you explained things very succinctly and I appreciate it. Thank you!
This video saved me after replacing the walking belt on a Proform Smart 2000 treadmill. I thought the belt was tightened appropriately for “half an arm” but needed further tightening to eliminate slipping. Once I tightened both sides by a full rotation - no more slipping and can run with confidence, after almost stumbling a couple of times before that.
@@violeta5331 I was able to get my arm up to my elbow in before... but after tightening it further, I can get a little over my wrist in (like he shows in the video), towards the middle of the platform, but not further. And it has eliminated any slippage. I hope this helps.
Excellent video, we bought the same treadmill shown in your video and from the beginning the belt slipped…and then I happened across your vid and had no idea that it could be adjusted or tightened…now it works beautifully. Thanks so much!
Thank you for this video. You might be interested in another source of belt slipping which I have just fixed. I found that both little bolts which connect the drive belt wheel casing to the running belt roller had both come out. Not sure why, constant pounding I guess. Anyway, thanks again. Videos like this restore faith in the usefulness of the internet.
Very useful, i had thought it was just slippery because I had put polish on it when cleaning, not the case, when i did the hand test under the belt it was very loose, took 1 minute to rectify, thanks so much.
Thank you, my treadmill belt is trashed but that seems to be the only major problem. The treadmill was $20 so I figured it'd be worth seeing if I could get it running well. Belt will be here in about 3 days. I wouldn't have thought to lube the belt after installing it.
The information in this video gave me the idea for how to fix my slipping treadmill. After I opened up the motor compartment to look at the small motor belt, I noticed that the whole belt and connecting gears were covered in mat lubricant. I assume they got covered with the lubricant when the treadmill was stored in its standing position over a long period of time. After several wipedowns with dry paper towels, the slippage is completely gone.
Great vid! Bought a used treadmill for a $100, and they failed to mention it was slipping. I test ran on it but not above 8mph. With your help i fixed it in less than 5 minutes and it ran like new!! Haha looks like i came out on top in this deal!!!
This video is great. I got frustrated with mine. Took my time with it. Tighten bothe clockwise to stop the slipping then loosen left or right if the belt is griding on one edge.
I wish I could have found your video on lubricating a treadmill a couple of years ago. I was given a used treadmill that had a slipping problem. It was obvious that the tread was loose and I was able to tighten it but it still slipped. I had no idea about what else to check and ended up taking the thing to the county dump. Oh well, what can you do. Live and learn!
Thank you! Turns out my problem was a prior owner of my treadmill had a bolt and washer combo held on wrong, so my motor wasn't aligned and was going to give. Caused the treadmill to have a belt slip. Seemed properly securing the bolt and tightening the belt helped. I was afraid I would have to replace a part, and while that isn't an issue, losing out on precious cardio / usage is. Nonetheless, thank you for the informative video!
Very helpful thank you. Unfortunately though my Allan key has worn down already, I only got the treadmill yesterday and used the Allan key provided to put it together. I noticed the belt had moved this morning and then checked out this video, after a few turns my the key was worn and so was the left sided socket (or whatever you call that part). Think I'm gonna have to return it, so frustrating😢
Wow I began losing balance after years consistently on treadmill.. I will check this out and crossing my fingers this is what my issue is. I have been to doctors and she said tests are normal. Also but ugh they new shoes. None have helped yet. Thanks for info
The belt on my moms treadmill flipped a little on one side because the belt over time slid to much to one side.. because u showed me where the screws were I was able to fix it before my mom got home from work. Thanks soooooooooooooo much dude. My ass woulda been grass
As a first time treadmill buyer, I was disheartened at the way it slipped and went off-center. Your video was very informative and hands on enough to allow me to hop right into correcting everything wrong with my treadmill. Thank you!
@@кАналДобра I tightened the motor/drive belt. Look for some bolts that hold the motor in place. Loosen them, pull the motor back, tighten the bolts. Problem solved. 😀
Thank you for taking the time to produce your excellent videos on maintaining a treadmill. I need your assistance. I have a Sole F80 and while I’m running (7MPH) or walking (4MPH) every now and then the treadmill will stop then speed up rapidly (Fast) and it will give me an Error Code 5 message on the screen. I’ve been thrown off the treadmill twice and I’m lucky it hasn’t caused me a serious injury. Do you have any idea what could be causing this happen? Thank you.
I was shopping for a new treadmill when I googled the problem on mine and found this. Thank you so much!! I love my TM and can finally use it again and I can cancel the gym membership!! My wallet thanks you!!

Thanks. This was really helpful. Turned out my motor belt was the problem.
