Very few content creators do free testing, collect data and offer solutions like this. The devs should be chomping at the bit to listen to this guy if they want the game to improve.
Ancestrals are the chase items this season. I've found more good mythics than I've found worthwhile ancestrals. They need to up the drop rate of ancestrals, and maybe add a floor on the aspect. It's a real bad feel to finally get an ancestral and it's barely worth the time to salvage it.
Definitely agree on the aspect floor. I feel like if you get an ancestral the aspect should be rolling in the ranges that normal legendaries can't reach.
@@StacattoSoul Ancestral drop rates and everything aspect related are two very big problems this patch. Forget Spiritborn bugs the other stuff affects ALL classes.
I think the blacksmith cache should have a high weighting to unlock aspects you don't have unlocked yet. And them maybe even bump up the cost and I think that niche would be ok. But I'm probably biased since I've been trying to target far Shattered Spirit aspect for the last couple days with no success. I've literally been farming Helltide chests, tributes w/ resources boon, obols, and merc barter...
I rolled a new Sorcerer and used my main to make 25 caches for them. Of 25, ZERO were Ancestral, while I did open up a few new aspects, NONE were for me planned build (Frost Orb), I ended up wearing the ancestral scraps left over from my main. I went to the Purveyor to gamble on Wands. of 2 full tabs of Wands I got Zero ancestral, and 8 copies of non ancestral The Occulus. I would argue the Purveyor is also broken... Mind you this was with the Season Buff of Purvey sometimes gives double loot, and they did indeed give many doubles. But double garbage is still garbage.
I appreciate the video, well done. I wish Blizzard would do this kind of static analysis on their systems too. A lot of the resource procurement vs expenditure is so wildly off keel that it feels like instead of critically thinking and analyzing how much resources players get vs how they can spend it, they just throw some numbers out and if it "feels bad" they'll later patch. But the result is an imbalance experience that punishes players when they choose to engage the wrong systems, like this one. We see this with wild swings in gold rewards from S5 to S6 in infernal hordes. We see it with the ridiculous rate for boss materials this season versus the draught in prior seasons. We definitely saw it with the way gem fragments were raining like manna from heaven and literally littering the screen. My only suggestion is put in your own two cents on what resource costs you think would be balanced for what it offers. Do you think less gold, or less raw hide? Looking at your inventory, it looks like forgotten souls aren't an issue. But then again, like you said, you're not an average player in terms of number of resources. My guess is for this to be worthwhile for someone who plays casually it would have to be closer to 1/5th of the resource cost.
The very first time i saw the cache, i thought it will contain at least 3-4 items. But like i said at the stream, basically i got the same result you got. 125 caches, 4 GA items and not a single upgrade to my necro
I made a bunch myself just cuz we have so many materials, blizz seriously needs to tune the numbers on material / gem drops or give us something to use them on. Maybe juicing the undercity would be a good option. We got that 50 million gold option, there should be similar options for mats.
It feels like the developers purposely slowed down gear progression to an absolute crawl to artificially increase player retention. I see no end to individuals on the D4 subreddit saying that D4 is in a fantastic place right now because they have a reason to stay longer with the non-existent ways to get good gear. With LE, you have Monoliths that you can juice for better rewards and with POE, you have the Maps. Why does D4 have no equivalent where you can choose to increase the difficulty for a better chance of rewards? Why can't I choose to finish my gameplay in a couple weeks because I put in the effort to grind hard content that rewarded me with the items that I needed then choose whether or not I continue playing for the full season? What incentive is there to spend 14 minutes running a Pit 100+ when you are not guaranteed Ancestrals, a higher quantity of GA's on gear, or even extreme amounts of gold to engage in the wildly overtuned Masterworking system? It really feels like the answer is that they want people spending more time in the game not because the players choose to but because the players have to in order to find items that aren't completely useless or to attempt to triple crit their gear. And it feels like the community enjoys that for some odd reason. I don't want everything handed to me on a silver platter, I want something I can struggle to complete that rewards me for my effort. That is completely missing from D4.
Thanks for doing this! I’d usually much rather spend the little gold I have on target farming legendary items in the Undercity but thanks for confirming what I suspected!
As someone who likes statistics, you might enjoy a recent reddit post where someone did 2400 T4 boss runs (400 each) and wrote down all the items they got ^^. For Mythics, it looks like Varshan, Gregoire and Ice Beast have a 1% chance and Duriel, Andariel and surprisingly Zir, have a 2% chance ^^. 3-4 GA items are basically impossible to get with good rolls 🙈
The odds are just as shyte with Obols. It's either trash or uniques. Ancestral legendaries are far to rare considering you are usually hunting down specific GA's or at least 2 stats you want.
Brother thank you for putting in all this work to save me the disappointment. I had a feeling these caches were total crap and glad to know that I'm correct on this one. 😅
It having been up for a day, I assume someone's already pointed out the issue on the Mobility section of aspects? Total COUNT found is 5, total different aspects listed is 4, so % of total should be 8 - 4 - 50% not 8 - 5 - 63%
It's appreciated. Especially with how pricey they are. Last season that gold would be a joke without even trading. Not so much this season. And I ain't trading lol.
These do have a very good use albeit niche. For jump starting filling out your codex if your aspect fishing on a new character/classs and you already have pelnty of $ and resources to spare from your main.
Pure serotonin to the brain. Good stuff!!! Man bro, I hope that the aspect and armour situation gets fixed… I’m paragon 295, my aspects are still not maxed, I don’t have gear with the GAs I’d like (in not even asking for a 4GA at this point). My goodness man… and not to mention, I’m not real world trading or selling to make that cash money, then to trade for my items to disappear? Uff…
I finally had an ancestral focus drop. It’s pretty crap but I am using it because it’s all I have with bigger numbers. This was after a lot of obols spent on foci, a lot of light weapon helltide chests and a lot of one handed weapon whisper caches. It’s just another fuckup causes by them restarting the game after a year of tweaking. Maybe in a year they will get it mostly fixed again.
If I were a nefarious Diablo developer I would make great gear incredibly hard to find and then open a secret marketplace where I sold better gear and made it look like someone else was selling it. 🤔 IMO, at 75 hours of play, each character should have everything they need to be god like. And then additional characters that season about half that time. It would encourage people to be engaged for longer trying different classes and builds.
@@MacroBioBoi I hit the 150 hr mark and then decided to Elon Musk it and bought the necessary equipment to beat 150 pit (was 135 pit before that). Started another character and saw the long road ahead, so quit. I don't know if I have it in me to go another season for 150 hrs on a single character.
I did this process 10 times. Saw my resources, and decided I would never do this shit sandwich scam again considering the loot I got. I thought there would be more loot; man what a ripoff. It’s like they designed this to scam players. And frankly, considering I paid money for the game, I feel like it’s a dick move. If some designer out there made this, then they reasonably thought they would be doing a good thing by screwing someone out of resources. That to me spells some sort of malicious compliance thinking. “Get resources out of players pools. Ok, I’ll make a bad outlet that rips them off.”
What D4 Devs made a bad mechanic that is not worth the time \ materials!? Im shocked but not really. Poor quality is what you can expect from the D4 team.
Macro, I am no hater, but Diablo 4 is a scam itself. Just notice how I can not craft a single build by only reading the tooltips, skills or nodes. If I do it, I would end up thinking that the Shadow Clone ultimate of my Rogue would actually deal ''60% of my damage''.
It's like the joke of a boost coming soon to eternal...fully working level 100 char , with a complex paragon board and 925 perfect items...reduced to 50...deleted paragon...and now 1.5month later where eternal players already got back to level 60 and geared up...they offer you a boost to 50...what a joke...
U explained it perfectly ! Goodbye to all the GG items we farmed over the previous seasons , hello to a BS build for your eternal characters that took 100s of hours to gear . Completely killed my hopes of eternal becoming the place for for PvP .
So, Im a looser and did the grind to 300. Unsurprisingly I ended up with A LOT of mats. I made 100 of these when I made a barb to just get the aspects I needed to get a build going. It didnt make a dent in the mats I have and I got most of the aspects i needed got start playing my barb. I was happy with the results. TLDR I think this feature is only intended people with 200+ hours played on the season.
Macro, as always bro, thank you for the detailed info. to sum it up, these are a waste of time! trading has been the most efficent way to get gold for me. I think if your farming gold, hordes has been the fastest, without trading considered.
LOL!! WHY?? why would you do that 100 times? I opened 3 of these, and realized this was such a scam. Nooo... 100?? But good data points gathered, I guess?
I want the mercenary vendor to sell better gear, right now its pretty meh. So far she has offered me one triple GA item, all the stars were on stupid things and the aspect was low level and not useful for my build. Since then I haven't seen any more GA items.
These are all bandaids for poor game design. D4 didn’t mature with its original fans. Leave it to Blizzard to make an eternal war between good and evil confusing and boring.

It’s generally useless. The other blacksmith cashe is better.
I tried it once and learned immediately don’t do that again.
Exactly. Took 1 attempt to know they’re worse than temper rolls.

Ancestrals are the chase items from now on. Not just this season bro
Agree. I’ve found 3 shrouds and barely enough ancestrals with decent roles to be worth a shit
1000% this. I never expected to have more mythical than good ancestrals. Felt bizarre to google ‘where can I farm ancestrals in Diablo 4’. Just wild.
Good to know I wasn't the only one noticing a severe lack of focus drops. You are a dedicated man MBB!

Can't really disagree with the 75 hour mark. At 150 or so, your character should be close to finished over a season imo.

How did you convert aspect values to ranks? (Or did you even?) I collected some data on Ancestral drops I need to do that for...
Did the math. Figure out the difference per rank.
Good job! Keep watching and share with the world.
This is great information. It’s like the rest of the game, but somehow worse since you are paying to be disappointed.
