They say it only takes 3 weeks to get over an addiction! Every time you crave it, say "ok I'll smoke tomorrow" and when tomorrow comes, say the same thing. You got this girl! We're rooting for you!!

Get motivation and support from family.
Just do it - you will feel better by taking action - especially by doing activities which push your limits and this will keep your mind off cigarettes

My problem is I like having an excuse to get away from whatever I'm doing. Family gathering gets weird? Smoke break. Work is stressing me out? Smoke break. Waiting around for something? Smoke break. I quit for a while, and at my work there's literally nowhere to go on a break besides the smoking area out back. Smoking is expensive and I really need to quit, I've been smoking for almost 10 years, but I like it :(

I never would have picked you for a smoker. I was a closet smoker for years. I never wanted anyone to see me smoke. It would literally only be at home or with friends that smoked too. I would brush my teeth and spray myself with perfume after every cigarette. So freakin stupid! I found the hardest times to not have a cigarette was with drinking! But now the smell of it makes me wanna puke. It must have been especially hard for you considering your gf smokes. So proud of you xx

Ali Bergeron wish I were that way, but I think it's related to people and their susceptibility to addiction. Many things are physically addicting, but the psychological addiction aspects can be astounding.

Girl, cigs ain't no joke. I also started smoking in High School. When me and my husband got pregnant with our son, I stopped immediately. Had no problems quitting for 9 months. But then I picked it back up again a few months after my son was born due to stress... I'm so over it now and ready to be done. I only smoke when we drink alcohol (typical statement, I know), but even just a couple times a month I feels like is taking a toll on me. Our son is 2 now and I'm so ready to just stop (so is hubby). I've been smoking regularly for 14 years. We bought "vapes" with zero nicotine fluid to curb the cravings when we need it, and so far so good. I hope we kick the habit this year (and drop the vapes too) 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I've never been a smoker nor have I ever tried smoking which is something I'm proud of. But GiGi I loved this video! The reason may seem odd, but I liked this video because it shows that nobody's perfect! Everyone is dealing with something and no one would have ever guessed that you were a cigarette addict. I am proud of you for bringing awareness... I quit a year ago myself. It came down to where I was told I had the unset of emphysema and feeling like a fish out of water to finally stop. Anyone reading this: please DONT wait until it is too late. You will never know how precious your lungs are until they are gone. I would rather be dead than to struggle breathing like I was for months last fall due to chronic bronchitis. I remember crying on bedroom floor just praying to God to be able to not struggle to breathe... NOT WORTH IT
Is your breathing better now that you quit ? Also do you have emphysema or was it bronchitis, I’m going through the same thing and I’m terrified to go to the doctor.
Thank you for this, genuinely. I’ve been going through the same breathing issues even though I have a pulse ox that I got to have on hand for covid. But my SATs are great, but that hunger for air is no joke. I’m quitting today using the Allen Carr method and I’m also praying Jesus will get me through the rough moments. I hope you’re doing well now and can breathe better.

There are two reasons why people struggle to quit smoking:
1. Governments tax cigarettes but then don't make effective quitting methods easily available. Governments make it easier to keep smoking so they keep making money.
2. "Quit Smoking" assistance focuses on "ew smoking" not on "life after smoking is FAB!"... all quitting smoking methods/books/talks are negative rather than exciting you about life.
this video is actually so inspiring! i have been smoking for a year casually and i am at the point you were at where i can barely stand the scent of my hands after smoking. i have tried quitting a few times but this has really inspired me to try a bit harder

My boyfriend wants me to quit smoking really bad, but both my parents smoke, and all my siblings, and most of my extended family does too. Ive been a smoker for 8 years, and honestly I kinda dont want to quit at this point. But even if I really wanted to, I would have a long road ahead of me, it is really hard to quit when your family and everyone you know smokes
Dialogue Monnie if you don't want to quit, it isn't going to happen. It's one thing to know you need to, but you have to want to in order to stick with it. If you get to the point that you are committed and ready to quit, try talking with your family to make it easier for you. Have them smoke outside if you live with them, or not smoke when you visit. I quit cold turkey almost 6 years ago after smoking for 10 years. I was in nursing school and saw a healthy lung compared to a black smoker's lung. Smoking has multiple effects on your health and benefits begin within an hour of quitting! I still have my days where I want a cigarette and think about it. I just make the decision not to. You can get there! Good luck!
thanks for the response its really encouraging :D I dont live with them, but when I do go out of state to see them its usually for two or three weeks at a time so its really tempting because Im always around it. I had quit smoking for almost a year but switched to vaping/nicotine gum, but now when I visit them I sneak a pack of cigarettes behind my boyfriends back and now when I return he knows that Ive been smoking, I just kind of fell back into it and really want to get off. I have constant lower back pain and Ive read up on it, and nicotine slows your healing and makes back pain worse x( If anything I think I need to quit just for that, the pain is constant and I want to be better so bad
If you don't feel like you can do it alone, maybe go and see a stop smoking advisor, support group, clinic?

I'll send this to my mom. It truly breaks my heart that she is smoking. She is the only parent I have left and I'm only in my twenties. She has started to have that really gross and bad mucus-y cough for the last couple of years and I talk about it with her all the time. Like until I cry. But it's SO heard for my words to really reach her. And it breaks my heart because I DO NOT want to see her suffer! I want her alive happy healthy and well. There is nothing I wan't more. I've been smoking for 5 years and am so so addicted. I related to everything you said. Talking about this as real as you were is amazing and not something I see people do a lot who smoke or have smoked. I've noticed my body suffering a lot recently from smoking, and seeing how happy you are now after quitting has actually given me more motivation to quit. Cause even though I have wanted to quit, I keep thinking "how happy will I be once I quit? Will I always crave something I can't have?". But you seem so happy! Thank you so much. I think I'll really try.

Gigi, I started smoking regularly about a year ago & I have to hide it. I started the same way you did. I never thought I'd be addicted. I'm in the process of quitting & it's so hard. It's just a habit & a routine & it's really hard to break the especially when it's something you enjoy. So thank you for making this video. I can definitely relate.

I am also a smoker. I started smoking a year ago when I was 15, and I am 16 going on 17 now. Ive been trying for awhile to stop because I have seen all the things it can do to your body over time, especially sense I've been around it my whole life. Anxiety is honestly the biggest reason why and plus all the influences around me, but this video has made me realize that I really do need to stop and I thank you for bringing attention to the situation that many people, including yourself, have been through or are still going through. So again, thank you. I love you so much!

i started smoking in grade 6 and am going into grade 12 this year and all of my friends have become addicted to either smoking or nicotine i can go weeks or month without smoking & not crave it at all i smoke on almost a daily basis but when i stop i never really crave a smoke
