The collarbone is one of the most commonly broken or fractured bones in the body. This injury is typically seen among younger children or people who spend a lot of time playing high contact sports like football, soccer, wrestling, rugby, and more. A broken collarbone can be caused by trauma such as car crashes, severe falls, or sports injuries.
The straps of this collarbone brace are fairly wide, making it a great solution for clavicle injuries. Narrower versions are not recommended for such injuries. The figure 8 brace helps to keep the collarbone area immobilized by wrapping around both shoulders and the neck to hold the shoulders back and up. These wide straps may feel uncomfortable at first, but it will give you the appropriate level of stabilization that is needed.
This figure 8 brace keeps both shoulders back and stabilizes them rather than a sling which generally just keeps one side stabilized. You can also have full mobility of your hands when wearing a figure 8 brace versus a sling.

Actually, this would serve great for posturealignment due to its simplicity and seemingly spot on targeting reg. posturealignement of shoulders, as it seems to lift the shoulders up and move backwards vs. merely pull back.
...but the above is just a quick glimes and idea herefrom, that need reevaluation later in order to suggest anybody do, cause it was just a spontanous idea....
Nice but doesn't such a brace mean that the clavicle it's been pressed out of alignment the two parts of the bone the broken bone is being potentially separated further or more misalign creating lumps and bumps in the healing process?

Yes. That is correct. You'll need x-rays and Dr visits each other week to see the healing progress. I recently broke my collar due to a car hitting me on my bike. You can't use this brace just by eye balling. You'd need proper medical advices. My clavicle is on top of each other by an inch. This brace will help spread them apart and heal straight
Yup it does! I broke my left collar bone and this is all they gave me, no sling just this. Now my collar bone has healed with one part on top of the other instead of back to where it was before the break. I have a large lump on my collar bone and you can visibly see the lump and which one was broke. I can’t lay on my left side without pain, 17 years later it’s still causing issues. I wish I had something other than this brace to heal me bone, it was so painful to tighten this brace I was in more pain every time it was tightened. Miserable process, and wish I would of had a sling instead.
@@jamesb9303 same!! Mine healed the same way and this brace caused more pain then healing me. Miserable process and I still have problems years later.
I feel like this would hurt in my case? I can't open my armpit if that makes sense. My arm is basically glued to my side. Has anyone had a full break and dislodging that used this? 10/10 pain until the pills kick in every morning. Been 3 days since the break.

How are you feeling after 8 months, any updates? Its been 3 weeks since I had mine broken, i still cant move it properly but I am noticing a hard bump where it was not broken so perhaps its healing wrong. I did not get this, I had just one arm sling
@Lyete Von hi, i had my check ups every week, and they sent me to a physiotherapy. Physiotherapy helped me the most. I had the sling 2 weeks and in my 3d week i had to take ot off, or my arm muscles would just completely die off. I am doing very well now, the pain is still there. Its a feeling of something dragging me down, pulling on, or ripping. I was told its actually the muscle underneath that was just shortened because of no movement. I can now wash my hair, and do everything normally. In some weeks they will take a special picture to see how it grew but otherwise I think patience and exercise is the best you can do. Unfortunately you have to exercise through the pain aswell. Hope its healing well for you now, give me an update🥰

@@ok9229 hi, while I was in healing stage I only slept on my back. Pillow under my knees, and no pillow under my head but under my arm where I had broken clavicle. Could not move at night at all. After 3-4 weeks removed pillow from under arm, had to let the arm fall down. Uncomfortable but my doc said I should also start getting up myself. Its been 3 months now, sometimes it hurts sleeping on left side still, and I cant lift heavily. Im not 100 percent yet but its ok. Get well soon

I broke my left clavice a week ago while snowboarding. It was already the end of the day and I actually didn't see a doctor straight away, but I snowboarded the whole following day and went to the doctor only the next day morning as the pain and movement had gotten worse. So I found out the news and was given a clavice brace. However, while showering the next day, I took it off and my friend put it the other way around and after 4 days now I realised this. But I feel less pressure this way and it isn't that satisfying.I was supposed to wear it for 3 weeks. Is this something to worry about?

oh well i took surgery 2 months ago, im actually great right now i can do almost everything. cant go to gym yet but yeah letting it all get sorted out. surgery was def way to go since after surgery i became instantly 1000x better

Hi mate, first of all i wish you a fast recovery, after the surgery i felt an instant relief. It was so much better because the bone was acting like a normaln bone. I broke when i was 20 so i had a pretty speedy recovery, after 3-4 months i felt like brand new but still had to chill and not put any weight above my shoulders. I think 2 years passed since then. Im like brand new ofc and i got a titanium bar in me sooooo hheheh. Dw about it i wish you all the best!

Hi, can someone from BraceAbility tell me how I would know if my clavicle brave is too big for me? When I put it on I have to tighten it as far as it can go just to pull my shoulders back and align them, any other tightness apart from that doesn’t feel like I’m getting the benefit of the clavicle brace. Also when it’s fully tightened it digs in under my arm pits to the point where it’s pretty much unbearable. I think I have a size too big and the medium sized brace would be more comfortable as I don’t think I’d have to ‘fully’ tighten it to get the benefit of the brace and therefore no digging in under the arm pits. Can you tell me about you’re experiences with clavicle braces that are too big please as I don’t know if what I’m experiencing is normal. I will await a response. All the best
Thank you for reaching out to us! It sounds like a medium would be able to tighten around your shoulders for a more secure fit. Unfortunately, the padding on the medium is the same width as the large, so the padding under your armpits will still be wide.

Hi George, this brace can be used for a broken collarbone and also just to fix overall posture. It works similar to a sling where it immobilizes the shoulder so the clavicle can heal.

I believe I broke my left collarbone last Friday from falling out of a semi truck. The mechanic removed the steps and didn't tell me. I flew 6 foot down to hard concrete. Going to a clinic on Monday to have it looked at. Just from my research it does look like it's probably a broken collarbone. Fortunately it will all be covered under workman's comp.

Had x-rays in Ogden Utah and it is a broken collarbone. It's a clean break without misalignment so it's looking like it might have to heal on its own. Waiting for another telehealth call and a trip to the orthopedic Dr to see what's up. The bruising is going down and the arm does feel better although it's far from 100%.

@@DarkoFitCoach I'm back in Texas as of the end of July. I spend a month in Ogden and then had to take the truck back to California. The Ogden orthopedic dr said there clavicle was broken and wasn't healing.
Other than x-rays and one shower visit to the orthopedic dr here, not much has progressed. Still broken and loose. It doesn't hurt that bad, but it needs to be healed. Going to the workman's comp clinic tomorrow again.
The bright side of the story is all the time I'm spending with family here and I'm soooo glad to be out of California.
