Love that Joe Rogan an his cronies tried to “roast” you. Shows the level they’re at cuz this channel is still just unashamedly fun. Clearly they take themselves to seriously bless them
I just wanted to thank you guys for what you do. I've been with the channel since pre-covid and the cinematic expertise, humor, creativity and overall thought you put into these makes you, along with savagegeese, my top 2 car reviewers. As a matter of fact, I would love to see how your sense of humor jives with Mark & Jack.
I’m glad y’all took the Rogan comments so well because when I was listening to that episode I was honestly upset because Rogan has had on several car reviewers and it made me realize he didn’t even know about the best one (throttle house).
I currently own the 750S and have over 5000 miles on it zero issues, it took two months to get used to the performance delivery its absolutely the best supercar on the market. I did have the Artura prior and loved it but the 750S is another level, not the same category.
You can’t just say something is the best on the supercar market. A supercar in 2025 is a thousand different things and I am sorry but the McLaren does a lot of those things excellently but not the best. A GT3 RS is a more engaging track car, for less money and will appreciate. The 296 is arguably a more engaging road car (this is opinion but it could be argued). The new facelifted vantage is a more luxurious and rowdy option. I loved my time in the 750s and I think about it a lot. But I don’t regret for a second choosing other cars over it that have more direction in what they want to be. And at the end of the day McLaren are absolutely gouging customers on the carbon fiber parts on a car that will lose all of that value in the first year.
It's boring man.. boring looking and boring sound, performance, interior. I'd rather buy another Aventador than be given a 750... I'd even rather an f8... Their resale value agrees, just no demand for these cookie cutter McLarens that all look the same.
720s is better than an any porche I drove the newest 911 turbo tuned and a down pipe I it’s very quick but the 720 sound was better and you can make the same amount of power of more but the Gtr3 rs is a very nice car
I love how there is this kind of counter-culture against supercars now. They are less desirable, less "put on a pedestal" than in days gone by. It is because the bar now for all cars has been raised so much higher, all cars are quick now, and EVs have reshaped the definition of quick. In the relentless contest of quickness and speed, modern supercars have neutered the most important part about them: the experience. Basically only Lambo still gets it, and even they are in risk of losing their flair. In an age where every supercar looks, sounds and feels the same, we will be chasing the EXPERIENCE more than raw numbers. As Thomas said, he would chose a GT3, manual, over objectively "better" cars on paper because the experience it presents to the driver. That is why that despite being able to afford faster or better cars, I will always have an old Alfa Romeo with a snarling Busso engine as my summer car. Experience above all else.
It is the imperfections and tedious nature of old sports cars that make the experience worthwhile. Sure, all of these super sports cars are mega quick, but they are also clinical and sterile.
This is an interesting shift - I think manafacfurers have been fixated on specs and pure speed. Now that EVs have democratized both of those things, supercars will hopefully shift to providing a better experience.
Ok but don’t put evs in this conversation 😂 it’s not comparable, and you are right but not entirely there are many amazing new supercars and hypercars.
17:02 I want to see that 👀. Hopefully the P1 review is in the works, your 918 review is my favourite video on this channel. I cant wait to see how you guys feel about the P1 and LaFerrari.
I seriously considered buying a McLaren, they can make for very attractive used deals. But I had a bit of a crisis of middle age (I'm nearly 40) when I realised the one I really want is a GT. I borrowed one off a colleague in New Zealand for a week and they had to get me out of the things with a stick. I freakin' LOVED it. Such an understated and classy take on the platform... Which I do enjoy and it has more than enough performance to end up before the magistrate before you know it. I still want one, but the 7 year old in me is ashamed of the instinct towards the sensible choice of the GT. If I come across one for like half of RRP in Australian dollarydoos, with the steering wheel on the correct side, then I'll have to buy it. I'll just have to.
I THINK what Thomas is saying is there's a difference between a good car (such as the McLaren) and a "special" car. A car that has depth and character and complexity
I recently bought a ZO6 and its safe to say that it is the best financial purchase Ive made in my life. I thought I wanted a Porsche but my dream car is a 458 and the Z06 is the closest I'll ever get to owning one
The more I learn about all these supercars that no normal citizen can afford, the more I’m convincing myself that a Z06 is just what I need. Still somewhat unaffordable for some people but at least you get a similar experience for a fraction of the price.
@@remiboucher8305 Z06 probably beats this car on a track, in sound, in reliability... If the Z06 had a Porsche badge, or a Ferrari badge, it would have sold for $400k easily.
@ I'm not sure if he sees the z06 as an investment or whether he means that he bought it with money (in that case every purchase ever is a 'financial' purchase). That's why I wanted to know.
I really enjoyed this format!! Straight to the point, fun and laced with relevant clips from previous episodes. As for the car, I’m a big fan of the McLarens and actually find them to be the more “driver focused” exotic. I know several exotic owners and the McLaren guys are the ones that take their cars to the tracks and the mountains to wring them out. Compare to the Ferrari and Lamborghini owners that typically go for Sunday drives. Overall A+ episode that really did a great job describing the driving experience and how it compares both in performance and emotion to its competitors. Thomas, James and team continue to knock it out of the park!
I completely agree with you guys. These are too clinical and too generic. Not enough "experience", too much competence. The Porsche thing. I have driven Porsches, and they do absolutely nothing for me, despite being very very good. I would go out of my way to get something worse than a McLaren or Porsche, because with my toy/summer car I want an EXPERIENCE above absolute speed and competence. Yes, in traditional Top Gear logic...I think a better car for me to buy is a worse car.
“Porsche” is too big a blanket statement though. The Turbo S is the clinical household appliance that somehow disconnects the space-time continuum. But they make scary, wild cars too. The 4RS/Spyder RS duo are phenomenal and specifically called out as better than this half-million-dollar McLaren. A manual GT3 or, for McLaren money, the 911 S/T also fill this niche.
People who make comments like ‘I’ll take my old (insert whatever you own) any day over these soulless, uninteresting super cars’ have never spent time behind the wheel of cars like this.
@paintballplayer700 Porsche gt3 suffers from the same thing. The steering makes you feel like a professional driver and never feels scary. Completely different from like old Ferrari that constantly feels scary to drive
You know you are doing things right when people like Joe Rogan roast you. Something similar happened recently with a last podcast on the left host and some SNL producer tried to bash him too, I view it as compliments to them.
I couldn't disagree more, the turbo S is numb, boring and not beautiful. The 750 is better looking in every way, better performance and way more exotic. The 286 is a great car, can't stand the look of itb, would much prefer the SF 90 but more expensive. For most people that are not spoiled car snobs that don't get to drive everything, this car is sick. Ferrari and Porsches have many problems, I have had 0 issues with my McLaren and know dozens of others with the same experience. Love you guys, always hilarious but you just missed by a mile on this video. Regardless, your videos are great fun and love the creativity!
Been watching you guys for over 5yrs and still only know one of you is named James. Anyway - great video as always! Re: TurboS over the McLaren 750s, you got it wrong - daily the Turbo S and weekend the McLaren. You can’t go to grocery store with the 750s if you hope to return home by sunset. But with the Turbo, at most you’ll get the odd “nice car” or thumbs up. Perfect stable 😉
The camera angle with the two of you standing behind it makes it look like a slightly oversized kids toy car you'd see at some high end toy store. I guess that's probably an apt description come to think of it...😊
Was moving around a McLaren 765LT Spider last year and while being driven,we dropped the roof down. Halfway down that process the battery gave out and car stopped in the middle of road. We had to call in the Dealer for help. And help arrived after 5 hours😅. Apart from that great car
Sadly I owned a McLaren in 2022. I'll never acquire another one again, with the nightmare issues on the brakes and the electrical issues. Had been a dream purchase for many years and such a let down after taking delivery.
This one felt a little odd to me with Thomas trying to explain why a very good car isn't worth buying. I can understand driver involvement, but maybe the limits are too high. I also cannot understand why you want to be scared of a road car. If you aren't sure what you're road car is going to do are you still going to push it and then be a danger to those around you? It just reminds me of all those cars and coffee crash videos. I don't know, it just seems like an odd thing to me but I guess I just don't understand. I feel like I understood James a lot more and Thomas is scripting things. Anyway, I still enjoyed the video.
This idea that the car is too good is exactly how the 720S was originally received. I think folks forget. The car was soo good and so fast that it made reviewers just kind of dismiss it What I get from this review is that the Artura is VERY slept on and someone needs to modify that car like they have 1200HP 720s. Someone upgrade and tune a Artura. Drop it. Give it some sick wheels and make content! I ll watch
The "need to be scared" thing is real. In an age of ballistic EVs with perfect traction, ICE sports/supercars need to distinguish themselves by interaction and rawness. Even the 992 GT3 is (IMO) too refined to be truly exciting on the road (unless the excitement is fear of imprisonment), which is why people are speccing them with manual gearboxes, to generate more interactivity at legal road speeds.
Went from 2 seperate 720’s to a 296 and as much as I hate to admit it the 296 is a far superior car in most but not all ways. The reason I hate to admit it is because I am a McLaren fan over Ferrari all day and my experience with Ferrari was terrible (when car was ordered MSRP was supposed to be $391k but when it showed up it was $415k because they decided to increase the cost of the options for no reason). The Ferrari sounds far better, has no squeaks or rattles, somehow feels just as light despite being heavier, it’s even a bit quicker but more importantly the hybrid really makes the mclaren power train feel laggy. That being said, the haptic controls in the Ferrari are awful
I think more so than any car I have seen on this channel, this beast looks like it has more raw power NOW. That might be a trick of the camera work and the sound, but... Holy smokes does that thing lunge when you punch it.
You took that Joe Rogan burn like absolute pros! Very nice! And Very nice video. Mercedes AMG GT63 S 4-Door E-Performance next, please :D Or short "MAGS4DEP" => call it "Maxadepp" (yes, that's the official name 😅)
I love how much things have changed over the years. Sure, there's extra weight from added cooling and turbos in the McLaren, but 40k worth of carbon fiber later, and it's still 400 pounds heavier than an all steel bodied 1966 Mustang with the Sprint 200 inline six. As an aside, the Sprint 200 adds 200 pounds over the Windsor powered GT of the same year. See also, the first generation Mustang was only 3/4 uni-body. The frame extending from the firewall to support the engine and front suspension adds weight. The end result is that there's a lot of cooling and forced induction to go that fast reliably.
Finally i was waiting so ,so much for this car in your episode. I am soo happy right now 🤩🤩 . I have request that please do a video on 765lt also. And new generation cars like Sf90 , Regera , Amg gt black series , 488 pista
Conversely, I want to see them do more older stuff, reach back into 80s and 90s and do more "new vs old" comparisons. I want to see Thomas drive a Stratos, and James an original Skyline, for example.
I've never ever felt disappointed after watching a video of you guys, until now. I just don't understand how that could happen. I have quite a lot of experience with the Artura both on the road and on the track. And I think after I tried the 750s, it is just on another level. It ticks all my boxes while I felt the Artura too digital, too artificial. Which tires where on the car? Maybe there is the difference...
I think Harry Metcalf has the right take. He recognizes the amazing performance of McLaren and the depreciation. So he bought a dirt cheap 600s with a beautiful spec. In thinking about what I might actually buy, I think I'd buy the 600S on the used market. If I purchased something new, I'd buy a Porsche because they don't depreciate.
The original design of the MC12 , for me, is McLaren's best design for their cars !! The raw performance of the 675LT is probably the best driving experience of the McLaren line up and I've never driven either of these, but, as a car enthusiast, the current line up doesn't excite me AT All !! Performance is out of this world, but, for people spending hard earned money, they want looks and driving experience, which modern McLaren's don't offer today anymore 😢

I think more so than any car I have seen on this channel, this beast looks like it has more raw power NOW. That might be a trick of the camera work and the sound, but... Holy smokes does that thing lunge when you punch it.
Wow this was scary… I was thinking it should be time for throttle house… and here we are
You took that Joe Rogan burn like absolute pros!
Very nice!
And Very nice video.
Mercedes AMG GT63 S 4-Door E-Performance next, please :D
Or short "MAGS4DEP" => call it "Maxadepp"
(yes, that's the official name 😅)
Thomas looked terrified. :).
Every car UA-camr right now is posting the Lexus LX. And you post this. Special.
Congratulations on the jre plug, and i know how much you guys love plugs! Budump-ch😂
Yey this is the first throttle house in months I had to click on
I literally JUST finish ordering my Mclaren F1 Championship crewneck and this pops up. Thanks boys.
The windows on my '98 GTI occasionally staged a mutiny, but no relationship is truly perfect.
You were so jealous of the Extra Throttle house guys that you killed them. Well played lad's , didn't think you had the balls
So basically you want the ZR 1. Agreed!
He wasn't afraid....great friends!!!!!!
This is a true car, no electic garbage inside, light, 2 rwd, great car !
Every car has a e engine and battery shocker
@@DerKruemel Oh don't tell me...LOL...you know perfectly what i meant !
Did they really make the "This is brilliant, but I like this" argument?
I think Harry Metcalf has the right take. He recognizes the amazing performance of McLaren and the depreciation. So he bought a dirt cheap 600s with a beautiful spec. In thinking about what I might actually buy, I think I'd buy the 600S on the used market. If I purchased something new, I'd buy a Porsche because they don't depreciate.
I wish they would stop making 27 different versions of the same car and instead focused on reliability and continuity.
7:35 😂😂😂😂😂 perfect
Rear end me 😂😂😂😂
in 2025 it is no longer such a big deal if 2 blokes want a really fast car to go camping together in a single tent
When I saw them roast you guys on that podcasts I was like nooooo not the homies from throttle house
I love that they made a ICE super car to match the Altura, and it is amazing
The original design of the MC12 , for me, is McLaren's best design for their cars !! The raw performance of the 675LT is probably the best driving experience of the McLaren line up and I've never driven either of these, but, as a car enthusiast, the current line up doesn't excite me AT All !! Performance is out of this world, but, for people spending hard earned money, they want looks and driving experience, which modern McLaren's don't offer today anymore 😢
7:38 thats kinda funny. Some lighthearted pokes. I understand why too… everyone gettin butt hurt by it is just sensitive
Throttle house makes you feel good about not being able to afford the vehicles that you want...
