Thank you for using/including subtitles. In most scenarios, I like to hear things in English, but this is one of those rare situations I am so happy I heard your thoughts and emotions in your native tongue and I could read a translation. It is clear the song hit you hard and at times your voice wavered, but we were able to see your soul as you clearly expressed your feelings. Such a beautiful reaction…and I agree that this song was historical. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and insight. 🤘🏻

Thank you very much for the comment! I feel that making these reactions in Finnish give an opportunity to be more authentic and show the reaction even clearer. This song was really interesting song to react to and I'm looking forward to discover more new bands and songs.

The finger technique is called "thumping". I had heard that tim and Scott learned it from Tosin (animals as leaders guitarist). Absolutely amazing technique!

    •  2 роки тому +8

Oh yeah, that's true! I wasn't 100% sure if that was the term of if there was a Finnish translation to it that actually made sense (I've heard a translation about tapping technique but nobody refers to the Finnish translation). Been familiar with Tosin and Animals as Leaders, but I forgot to mention it.

Appreciate your remarks: I don't speak Finnish, but it was easy to see you felt how I felt the first time I saw this. The subtitles came through as a clear message for us. Excellent work!

Thank you very much!🙏🙏 Most of the content on my channel is in English so I may test some reactions in English too 🙂

"so...this is... I need to start practicing" Yep, that sums it up for every other guitarist watching this. Well said!

    •  2 роки тому

Yeah, exactly! It kind of worked the same way once I saw the first videos of Steve Vai playing Tender Surrender and For The Love Of God. That's when I started to play guitar many hours a day.

Kiitos Teemu! Great reaction my friend. I love that Polyphia is inspiring people to pick up the instrument and try out new techniques. I think it's so great for guitar playing.
Glad to have found your channel. I am from Dallas, Texas and the Dallas Stars have a long history with great Finnish hockey players, so I have a long-standing affinity for Finland! Subscribed!

Thank you very much! I totally agree that it's always amazing to see these guitarists that inspire people to pick up the instrument and try out new techniques. That's also something where I'm aiming towards as a guitarist and songwriter.
Oh, I think ice hockey is quite close to be a Finnish national sport. At least we used to play that a lot once I was in school. Seems that Dallas Stars is having great players from the team that played in in World's Championship too!

Finland is the home of my favorite bands such as Insomnium & Wintersun....so it's even better to watch a reaction from a Finnish metal guitarist! Thanks for the reaction & subbed!

    •  2 роки тому +1

Thank you very much! I really appreciate! Yeah, there's plenty of really good metal bands here in Finland and I believe it's still one of the largest genres that export music to other countries. I live in Denmark and don't really talk about music in Finnish here so this is actually a fun way to keep up with the Finnish terms too! Thanks again for the sub!

I only listened to Scandinavian metal for a time, but the Finns were the best. Wintersun was one the best out there.

I really enjoyed watching you enjoy that track - I’ve watched quite a few reaction videos for Ego Death, and each time, the bit that makes people smile, laugh and enthuse is 7:15. Your face lit up with the trumpet at the end as well.

Thank you very much! I think this was really fun and inspiring song to discover and react.

Agreed totally, first thing I thought was the desire to pick up my guitar again! I think it will inspire a lot of people. Both people of the new and older generation who may be new to hearing polyphia who were drawn by Steve Vai.

    •  2 роки тому

Yeah, Exactly! I think that one of the biggest and best guitar collabs in a while and at the same time it’ll most likely inspire more people.

F me, didn’t realize subtitles would translate, thought that I just couldn’t understand the Finnish accent. Now I’ll have to rewatch w subtitles to see what you actually said💀

Historical is the perfect word. The camera pulling away at the end w/ Steve and Polyphia is a musical history making moment. I'm going to get a screen grab of that and make it my desktop background.

    •  2 роки тому

Oh yeah! It clearly is something historical considering that the album got really huge placements on the charts once it was released. I'd say that's a worth taking a screenshot and having it as the desktop photo.

This was great! I appreciate your humble response. I can't even play and it makes me want to learn.

    •  2 роки тому +1

Thank you very much! I think it's really fascinating that some songs and videos just inspire to learn more playing guitar. That's kind of what I'm aiming towards too.

The song is amazing. It has different styles in it, based on the same musical motive, like Bohemian Rhapsody. By the way, if I didn't see the video, I would have thought Steve Vai played slide guitar. So smooth.

    •  Рік тому +1

True! It's having a lot of different styles in it and I think that's why I really like the writing style of Polyphia. Steve Vai is definitely really clever with the way of using the whammy bar sounding like slide guitar but also using bends that sound like whammy bar.

Whenever I hear someone speak Finnish, it's just...I don't know. Relaxing I guess? With all the double T sounds and S sounds it's got a nice rhythm to it.

    •  Рік тому

      Oh, that sounds really interesting!

I know what you are saying about guitar solos. Do you know the band Brymir? They just released an album, "Voices in the Sky" and the title song has an excellent solo in it. Really brings the song to the next level.

Oh, cool! I'm not familiar with the band Brymir but I'll definitely check out that song!
