They show the image of the girl at the beginning Dimple who he has fallen in love with. He is not referring to Aruna who is dancing. He is just expressing his feelings in the party as he has been asked to sing. Bollywood songs were really popular back then because of their depth and poetry. Plus it was sung really well. Great to see you checking them out.
This is a classic old movie trope where they keep their emotions to them self and wait for a big party and reveals their feelings in front of everyone, don't know why, but works to create drama in that scene

Fun Fact: Rishi Kapoor’s first movie. He was not rehearsed, guided or told what to do on this song. Kept asking his father Raj about it but was told not to worry about it. On the day of shoot, his dad just threw him out on the floor and told him to do what came to mind. Rishi said he was so terrified and worried and angry explaining the wide eyed look and wooden expressions. Raj Kapoor had a habit of doing that to his children, he wanted them to learn the hard way...is the best way according to him.
I love so much the sound of old music, the music of my country and India have that kind of special sound in the old songs, that I find very relaxing and warming

WRONG SONG TO REACT TO..As expected, you drew all the wrong conclusions from the song. Rishi Kapoor is singing to Dimple Kapadia who had showed up just before he started singing and then went away..He is smitten by het beauty and is singing to her. The girl/lady dancing is a family friend who is just embellishing the song with some solo dance move..No love connection there..
