Thanks so much - this was very helpful and easily understood.
Outside on the back of the arm is impossible for me to securely aim and place the over patch correctly in the right centered place over the sensor. It also lasts me only about 5 days before the sensor needle seems to be dislocated or dislodged.
Recommended sites are anywhere there is fatty tissue - I'm trying the inside of the upper arm this time.
Other sites in order of the longevity and ease of application are: 1&3} outside of the upper arm, 2} outside the upper thigh, 4} side or back of the calf, 5} chest or pecks 3-4 inches above the nipple, 6} upper and lower abdomen above or below the belly button.
Runners up: the love handles, lower back, upper buttocks & side of torso.
These are based on the experiences people have had, including me.
I'm just starting out, so I've just done the back of upper arm {bad location} and now the inside of the upper arm. If you put it on your belly, you got to be careful when removing your pants to avoid dislocating the sensor.

Thanks for explaining the new alerts! I'm planning on switching to the G7 eventually. It's a bit hard for me though, to be honest.... I live in Japan and my job requires total silence for 40 minutes at a time (my lessons are 40 minutes - no phone allowed no matter what). A beeping phone is considered terribly rude. I can understand why Urgent Low can't be muted, but I hope I can find a way in the future since I'm not able to reach for my phone. As of right now I've just been turning off the entire app for 40 minutes, turning it back on during the 5 minute break, checking what my sugar is, turning it back off again for 40 minutes, etc.

I follow his readings on the transmitter and have little to no issues, but his app on his phone seems to lose signal at least 4-5x's day. • @DiabetesStrong

There is one sensor in one box. If you have insurance they usually cover your CGM on a monthly basis. So for me, it actually gets cheaper as I was paying a monthly copay for the sensor plus a monthly copay for the transmitter. Now I only pay only monthly copay for the combined sensor and transmitter product.
If you're buying Dexcom G7 cash you can get it for about $170/month with the Dexcom savings card

Dexcom G7 is FDA-cleared for the arm only and CE-marked for the arm and the stomach. So if you choose to wear it on the stomach it might be considered off-label depending on where you live. I've worn it on the stomach and really like that placement
