G6 to G7 is an advancement in it self. Just switched from G6-G7 9 days ago, getting ready for my 2nd G7 install. Love it, because prior to using CGM’s, in the last 10 yrs. have had 3 ambulance rides to Emergency Room for low BS. Thanks you Dexcom.
Thank you so much for this video. It was much more helpful than the instructions in the booklet as well as what was on the app. Thank you again. I wish you all the best. ♥️
Just applied my first G7 - been using the G6 for a couple of years. I don't use my cell with it, I have a Tandem pump & all my readings go directly to my pump. I don't like having so many items to keep up with. I'm anxious to hear about your first 10 days using the G7. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah it's been a while! I'm really eagerly awaiting for when Tandem supports the G7 so I can immediately switch. I wish we could get some more info on pump integration!
I can’t wait until it becomes a closed loop with Tslim, I just got my G7s tonight, I am just waiting for my last G6 to expire, thanks for the education
Got my g7 and couldn’t get it to shoot out the sensor and thanks to you I found out the clear part had to retract to fire the sensor. Thank you so much. Warming up.
I have been having so much trouble with the Dexcom G7 for several months now. I'm pregnant so my endocrinologist recommended it and i was excited to use it. My issues have been that my fingers go numb at night even though I am a side sleeper. I'll try a different spot like you've shown in this video. Hopefully this will eliminate the numbing and pain.
I think the G7 is pretty cool the fact that it's kind of almost a little more like freestyle libre sensor which is also one piece. if I'm not mistaken I think the G7 no longer has a separate receiver it just works with the app on the phone. my doctor is putting me on their freestyle Lebre I think I'm going to
Waiting for the Tandem integration here, as well. (Thanks for recommending it a while back!!) Is the back of the arm now the recommended location, or an option to the old standard/only choice, the abdomen? I ask because I also really rely on the overtape to keep it in place, and find applying it a two handed application. I’m rather all thumbs, and am a bit uneasy about the mechanics of inserting the sensor and applying the tape one-handed in an awkward position. Thanks so much for all your videos!
My son has the G7 which has the all in one sensor/transmitter. The only thing I wish is that the Bluetooth range to be further than 20 feet. Overall we love it.
The g7 overlay makes a bug purple ring around its edge when I remove it. It's so hard for me to get it on the back of my arm, where I can't see, and get the overlay patch on it always rolls and sticks to itself.😢
I'm confused where to put it. Does it go on the tricep or do you try to avoid putting it on the muscle part of your arm? Do you want to switch arms for each new application or can you keep using the same arm? Do you have to enter the code again each time you replace the G7?
Have G7 and I had to call Dexcom so many times because my sensor was falling off . Replaced it because of that at least 4 times . Otherwise it does work . No finger sticks at least . P.W .
G7 isn't available at the VA Hospital as yet. I'm anxiously waiting currently using G6. Danica you are so much fun to watch you are so positive and up lifting. Thank You
I also use the Dex com g7 for my hypoglycemia and The biggest piece of advice I can give is don't look at the insides of the inserter. I can continue to tell myself that I can't feel or the poke but when you look at what's in there, well, nevermind.
The G6 never used an overtape. Why does the G7 use it? My experiences with the G7 so far have been a headache with the back of the arm placement. I preferred the sensor placement on my stomach.
Yeah technology is crazy. When I became a Type 1 it was 1992. Didn't know carbs = rise in blood sugar. Was told only eat foods with 3g or less of sugar. So I'd eat white bread and use R and N insulin. Blood sugar was never good. Now my A1C is a 6 thanks to Dexcom. They saved my life!
The point is nobody told them! It's shocking! I was given a diagnosis and a placemat-sized list of foods I could eat, like tuna with nothing added and a 1/4C of cottage cheese, their "Exchange " values and a 1000 cal/day limit. That's it. Ah yes,our Medical system at its most educational.
Thank you for this video, I just started the G7 last Wednesday, what is your advice for sticking it on our stomach, as another video say's it is OK but the G7 really only say's arm
It’s only FDA approved on the arm and therefore can only be recommended by Dexcom there, but people wear it on all of the usual sites - stomach, hips, upper buttock, thighs, etc.
I just opened up my sensor pack, and I wasn't expecting the needle to be that big. (I couldn't tell in Danica's video.) Therefore, I'm a bit terrified, 😌 but mainly because I wasn't sure what to do if I was among the small percentage of people who thought it hurt and what to do if it hurts. 😓 Also, I sleep on my back, so the back of my arms don't seem like a good place to put the sensor. Therefore, hopefully, the fatty inside of my arm seems like it would be better.
The clear piece on my device won't retract unless I push down on it really hard. But I'm scared that I will push into muscle if I push down too hard. 😕
Okay, I did it on the back of my arm, but I'm probably the first person you heard of who flung the applicator half way across the room because of the sudden loud sound that it made. 😬 However, it didn't hurt at all.
@@trentmonaghan179 That made me laugh because I jumped at the loud sound too! And I can’t remember if you asked or not, but I place it on my abdomen because otherwise I can’t get the adhesive patch on the thing. Also because getting the sensor on is a 2 handed process for me. It seems to work fine. I do a finger stick the next morning after I put on a new sensor. Works really well. This is my first BGM so I have nothing to compare it with. All I know is sticking my finger every morning was getting to be a real chore and my fingers always hurt. Between the BGM and Ozempic, I can almost forget I have diabetes.
@@BlackJack-sx1jw Well, I'm glad to hear the someone else had the same reaction. 🙂 Also, I saw another video where the person said that they used it on their abdomen. However, I'd rather follow the rules so that if something goes wrong, they can't blame me for not following the instructions. Although something HAS already gone wrong. Mine stopped working after about 5 days and the app message told me to take it off and put on a new on. But the only problem with that is that I have 3 of them (a 30-day supply) and my insurance won't pay for anymore before that time. Also, I noticed that my glucose was running kind of high with the Dexcom, so I used a finger prick and from that, my numbers weren't as high as the Dexcom was saying it was. 😕 But I hope that I don't have to go back to finger pricking because my smaller fingers had started to no yield blood. However, I read somewhere that it was actually better if you pricked your middle finger and your ring finger to better results.
Just started the G7 but my first sensor only lasted about 5 days before the sensor fell off. Even with the over patch it didn't stick. Ended up having to insert another sensor well before 10 days.
I switched from Omnipod to tandem pump t slim just to use g7. I get my meds free from VA. The VA wants everyone to go to g7. My doc says Omnipod working on pairing with g7. That would be nice but don’t like size of Omnipod pump.
Do you know what are the benefites of using the receiver vs the app ? And If you only use the receiver (no cellphone or smart watch) will the numbers be send to the follow/clarity app ?
I started with the Dexcom G7 2 months ago. The first sensor would not read my blood glucose and I had to throw it away. The 4th sensor wouldn't pair with the app so that had to be replaced. All others work fine and Dexcom replaced the two faulty ones. However it regularly gives me faulty readings and the worst thing is that if my blood sugar is low and I drink/eat suga to correct itr it take at least 30 minutes to show an increase my bs reading. It never goes up to 3, 4 or 5 it just goes from low to 10 (180) and then I have to take insulin. I think it's completely ridiculous. With my glucometer I have to only wait 10 minutes and I will see my bs go up enough to not consume more sugar. I have considered throwing the sensor and phone I paid €500 for and only has the dexcom app out the window many times. I find the Dexcom handy but I could easily go back to my glucometer .
I have been been able to get a good g7, out of 3 g7 sensors only one clicked on to my skin (arm). It's stuck and can't get it to click. Tech support sent me a replacement but it's the same thing.
I would love to know more about how well it works to have a site on your arm. Getting dressed issues? Tangling issues? Bathroom issues? Issues I haven't thought of ?
Can you put this on your stomach? I used to love using my arm, but a month ago, I tried stomach towards the back, and it works. Before, I was installing on my fat, and it would come off, lol.

You need the covers the stick to the sensor and around it my wife used one with just the hole in the middle and less than 2 hours the whole entire sensor just popped right through the donut and came out
I've never seen anyone with their infusion site on their upper arm, do you run the tube all the way down the inside of your shirt? How does that work for you? I have my pump in my pant pocket and the infusion site on my rear/hip area. I feel like I would constantly be aware of the tubing in my shirt like that 🤣
I use my upper arms as part of a rotation-right side-arm, abdomen, butt, thigh; repeat left side. Arms are my favorite. Run the tubing up the arm and down the torso to clip on a waist band. I learned the hard way, to tape slacked tubing to my skin about 8” from the infusion site, so when I get hung up on a door handle, the tug will be on the taped tubing and not on the insertion site, which invariably wrecks it. I just never put a sensor near an area with the infusion site.
I havent been pressing mine down. Wonder if that makes a difference. I need to ask users if you can place it lower on the back of your arm as long as you have fatty areas there.
I have been using the G6 for months and am about to upgrade to the G7. I live in Arizona where it gets very hot and sweaty. Does anyone know what the "extra adhesive" is that Dexcom refers to using? I can't find anywhere that specifically spells is out. My patches always want to come off and I have to use bandaids over the overpatch. It's a real pain.
Well it comes with the overpatch I use in this video! Otherwise there are a bunch of 3rd party companies that sell overpatches, just do a quick Google search and see what you think! Some that come to mind are ExpressionMed, Pump Peelz, and Not Just a Patch.
I think you could use SkinTac extra adhesive also. It comes in a bottle or wipes. While it’s not as hot as your area it is hot where I live and I’m in a valley so it’s very humid. So far I’ve been ok with just the overpatch. If it comes off they will replace it.
On the second sensor insertion and pairing you will probably realize that the Bluetooth code is identified, on your phone, by a”DXCMxx” with the xx being two letters. The two letters are not identified any where in their packaging. So, question will be which Bluetooth code to remove? I messaged Dexcom and they thought that it was like the G6 which used the last two numbers from the calibration code. NOT, so they are checking on it, for now. Great to see you again! Have A Sparkling Day! John P McLaughlin Sr 7/23/2023
I’m not sure if dexcom got back to you about this but I read somewhere that if you leave your Bluetooth pairing open and it shows more than one they will all be disconnected but if you watch them sometime within the next 5 minutes you will see one of them change to “connected”. That will be the current one that you are using and you can delete the others. Hope this helps ☮️
I am not excited about a completely disposable unit. At least the other way less was thrown out. The only reason to do this is to prevent people from using the sensor site for longer than 10 days. Not a fan.
Exactly. Restarting a sensor is the only way many people are able to afford to use sensors long term. It makes me really upset to see people praising these companies because moves like this prove that they care about their bottom line more than they care about their actual patients.
Hi! I am not diabetic, only a paramedic and nursing student, and just out of curiosity for educational purposes, (I understand if nobody wants to answer), how much more expensive is the dexcom G7 compared to the G6? And if I understand with the G6 you could reuse the same transmitter for three months before disposing of it, you just replace a small sensor every ten days?
I have a libre 2 which is good 14 days. It gives me warnings for high and low readings. The video for decom said libre 2 does not do that. Get your info right before you make ads for deacon.
Not liking the G7, the g6 needle went sideways and this 7 is a straight pin thats not bendable i will stay with my 6 and continue to extend the transmitter....nah on the g7

Great video 😊😊😊😊
How much is the cost difference ?
What about the skin tac sticky stuff?
Is there only one sensor per box?
30 left on the item you can leave on to warm up
Can this be put somewhere else on the body other than the arm?
Clarity is buil into the app
My G7 keeps falling off how can I get it to stay on.
@@TheAshleydelmar Exactly! They're so expensive even WITH insurance it's hard to keep up. 😞
Plan on trying a CGM , from what I have read re Dexcom 7 sensor failures etc maybe the Dexcom 6 is a better choice ?
The G7 is the first CGM I’ve used. The only downside I can see is that it’s really hard to put that extra adhesive patch on with no wrinkles.
No compression highs from sleeping on it?
I did get compression lows when I had it on my arm. Got them a couple times a night.
How do you know it's a compression low and not a regular low@jeweldenile8995
You test your blood sugar with a meter.
Where is the transmitter??
i rember you were nervis with the freestle libre lol
❤❤
I get severe skin irritation with the overlay patches my skin starts itching like crazy
I was afraid of that so I do use nasal spray in my skin a few minutes before I insert my sensor and out on the overlay. So far I’ve been ok
Not liking the G7, the g6 needle went sideways and this 7 is a straight pin thats not bendable i will stay with my 6 and continue to extend the transmitter....nah on the g7
Will it work with an insulin pump?
Tandem is working on it. I am using G6 because I have the pump also
just got mine today, so i'm here.. to know how to stick it on roflmao
Just waiting on tandem integration then ill be switching
Sounds like they didnt like people extending the transmitter and fused it with the sensor
Your video sounds great but the quality is so poor I can't understand most of what you're saying
When will it communicate with tandem x2 anyone know?
Not currently. But they are working on that. So hopefully they'll be compatible with each other very soon!
Not seen you post in a while
Lots to juggle, but happy to be here! :)
Libre 3 has alarms.
Doesn't matter if the damn sensor keeps falling off.
Do you use adhesive patches? I do and have never had one to fall off.
