4:22 I am a type 2 diabetic. Recently changed over from Lifestyle to Dexcom G7 due to insurance coverage. I bought an arm band to hold the G7 in place. But i can seem to line up the G7 sensor so it properly fits the dirction of the arm band due to its shape. Thw Free style was round so the fit was never a problem. So now when I remove the G7 cap from the cup how do I line up the correct shape of the arm band. From Lost & Confused.

Non-native English speakers tend to speak English faster than native-English speakers. I have no problem understanding his instructions, however. Manual instruction are usually intimidating because they are confusing and difficult to follow when read. I have waited for almost a month for this reason before I applied this sensor on my wife's arm. Thank you TYPE ONE TALKS for making this ordeal so quick and simple. Subscribed and LIKED.

This video is right on time. I have used G6 for a few years. However, I needed a refill of sensors and my doctor switched me to G7 a 3 month supply should be arriving tomorrow. I also have Skin Grip ordered and on the way. I am really going to like the 30 minute warm up. The last 4 times I changed my G6 sensor I was in a hurry and forgot to start the warm up period I actually had to stick my finger a couple of times to monitor a higher than normal carb meal.

Thank you for not disabling comments, like Dexcom did on its tutorials. My wife had used the G6, “upgraded” to the G7 around 6 months ago on the advice of her “clinic.” Tonight we had to insert a new sensor, and within five minutes the monitor beeped and said “sensor failed.” Yes, I had pressed the sensor for 10 seconds after I inserted it on her arm. This is the second or third G7 sensor that has failed since she switched from the G6. We again tonight had to insert a new G7 sensor, the last one she had. Also, the G7 keeps giving her abnormally low or high blood sugar readings for no apparent reason. IMO, for these reasons, there just is something not right about the G7.

In the past two weeks, we had four (4) G7’s fail to deploy after pressing the button. You attach it to the arm by pressing the button in the picture, where the man’s thumb is. My wife called them last Monday, they replaced them today, on Saturday. She was without use of the G7 to monitor her blood sugar levels all week. All frigging week! Dexcom, you have a problem.

I have finished my first G7 sensor/started my 2nd today. I was busy this afternoon and forgot to insert the new sensor before I left the house so my sensor "expired " while I was out, but the grace period kicked in and kept me going for an extra 2 hours until the end of my new sensor 30 min. warm-up. I LOVE this! No gap in readings! The worst part of G6 was the 2 hour warm-up with no readings...
I am also a side sleeper, but I've learned to sleep on the opposite side from my sensor. I have also found G7 much more accurate for me. I also first rub the area with Costco Aller-Flo (generic Flonase, a trick I saw on UA-cam) to prevent adhesive irritation. As for the sensor not firing, the button is much harder to press, but I orient the device with the button pointing so my thumb can press it rather than a finger. This time the overlay patch got stuck on itself and turned out looking pretty bad, but I also use Skin-Tac liquid to make sure things stick and to put another extra layer preventing skin irritation from the adhesive.
UPDATE: I applied sensor 2 on a Friday. It fell off my arm in the shower 7 days later. Don’t know why, used Skin-Tac, used overlay, even added more Skin-Tac to glue down edges of overlay when they started to come off. Dexcom is sending a new sensor. Used liquid skin adhesive on the edges of the overlay for sensor 3.

Your skin needs to be clean and rinsed well from any soaps or lotion, Then use rubbing alcohol to make sure there’s no residue. Once that drys insert the G7. It shouldn’t fall off.
In fact it causes me great pain, pulling on my skin, to take the over patch off.

You can use a bit of skin tac liquid adhesive leaving enough of a hole in the middle and then apply a Hydrocolloid Gel Bandage with a big enough hole in the center. IINsert the sensor and apply an adhesive patch over it and you will never have any moisture underneath, no water or soap residue after a shower or swimming in the pool. I've used this method for over 4 years and have never had an issue. Great for working out etc. No one ever knows if I'm wearing a sensor because they cannot see it.

This video has been reassuring because I just opened up my sensor pack, and I wasn't expecting the needle to be that big. Therefore, I'm a bit terrified, 😌 but mainly because I wasn't sure what to do if I was among the small percent who thought it hurt and what to do if it hurts. 😓
Also, I sleep on my back, so the back of my arms don't seem like a good place to put the sensor. But like the narrator demonstrated, I think that the inside of my arm would be better.

Unfortunately, I could always feel the G7 on my arm and had slight pain when it was touched by anything for 5 days then I took it off (because of insurance I only pay $60 U. S. dollars for a ninety day supply (this is 1/2 the price of G6 because I had to pay $60 for both the sensor and the transmitter if I had used the Dexcom receiver that would have been $60 more. My point is if it hurts and you can afford it take it off. Also, Dexcom was always good about sending me replacements if a receiver or transmitter failed. • @TypeOneTalks

The reason might be that you didn't push against your skin before you pressed the button. It happened to me too. There is a round plastic ring "coming out" of the applicator that needs to be pressed against the skin. Not strongly but you do need to press before you fire (just like I show it in the video). Hope this helps but of course it could have just been a faulty inserter... Good luck!

My son has the G7 and the over patch they sent last 10 days. We ordered another one to put over that has gaming designs on it but Dexcom really needs to extend the Bluetooth on the receiver. His phone isn't compatible with it.

I have been using Dexcom G7 for 6 months now and today the needle came off in my arm. It would not pair, so I followed instructions and removed it, only to find slight blood but no needle. Have you ever had this happen with any CGM and if so, what did you do?

No one seems to be talking about calibration and it seems to me that this is one of the key features of the G7. In the limited info I've been able to find, I read that once you are out of range (20 feet) and you lose the signal, you're supposed to calibrate the G7 again. Is this true? Also, how can we find out if Dexcom is going to add features later whereby we are not required to carry our smartphones with us all of the time in order to get a reading on our watch. It seems that having the ability for the G7 to communicate directly with a smartwatch would be a HUGE step. I typically have my Apple SE watch on all of the time but I'm not always within 20 feet of my phone. Any information you might be able to provide on this would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to your reply and BTW, I enjoy your videos

I didn’t want to mess with the BS from my “smart” phone, and having to be around the radiation at night so I bought the receiver. I’m constantly out of range but as soon as I get in range the receiver instantly shows an accurate reading.

I have heard that in Europe they say it's ok to use the abdomen. G5/G6 were awful on my arms because it always hurt and I always got compression lows because I'm a side sleeper. Has anyone who is a side sleeper managed to get it to work overnight on the arms?

Can someone please answer a question?? When I change my mom’s applicator on her arm. When I push the button for the needle to come out. It has a delayed reaction after the button is pushed. Never comes right on . So when it finally pops out it’s a very hard stick to my mom’s arm . What am I doing wrong ??? It’s the dexcom . The one that’s on this video …

You might not be pushing hard enough on her arm. After you press the button and you hear the pop, hold it on her arm for two seconds then slowly pull it away so you don’t pull it out of her arm.

With libre 3 it sticks in place for the full duration, no problem. Since it's smaller, you don't pump into things either. Why is G7 so large? They should try to compete with libre and make one even smaller that last for 3 weeks!

    • @TypeOneTalks

G7 is larger than FSL 3, true. But not significantly larger I would say. For me, the difference in size is not a big deal. Honestly. I place more importnace on other features than the difference in size at this point.
