Select connections at the bottom, then sensor at the top.
Remember four digit sensor number at the bottom, select replace sensor. Select no readings then stop the sensor. Start new sensor, can't scan, enter four digit sensor number and start. Sensor is inserted. Don't replace the sensor.

Thanks so much for the info. I use my arms and I find if it is on my left arm I have more problems keeping a signal. I thought it was just me, so glad I’m not alone..😊

As a long time Freestyle customer, the SECOND Tandem allows me to switch back I will. The readings are more accurate, you don't have to calibrate EVER, the adhesive doesn't leave a gross film residue when you remove it, you don't need additional adhesive to keep it on, its WAY smaller (size of a nickle), lasts 4 days longer, doesn't have the blue tooth errors and if you dont use a pump, it updates by the minute, rather than every 5. The g6 might be the worst products on the market, had the G7 not came out, I would have gone back to the Freestyle after my initial purchase and not used any of the pump intelligence it was soo bad! I am so tired of the non stop useless beeping with Dexcom... That said, thank you! I appreciate you putting out this video as I would not have called in to support about this, not knocking their support, which has been nothing but quality thus far, just crap products...

I completely agree whith you that the Deexcom G7 is just a poorly executed product. Over the course of 6 months of use the G7 function only for 3 -4 days then constantly problems begins: all tims show - SIGNAL LOSS end after 1 day off all this mess the result is to replace the sensor. I was looking for other users withe the same problem and how they were able to get out of it. The result is constant absolute silence. 😢

I moved the sensor to my stomach and its got a little better. Ive also tried keeping my battery power on my pump higher. Unfortunately, these stupid sensors want to die around 7 days… i had my first one actually go dead this last round. The worst side effect to this is that the AI stops working due to the signal loss! The beeping is annoying enough but losing the trending is too much! The Freestyle g2+ is now available and im a fanboi so im going back once this dexcrap supply is gone!

I put a lot of blame on the G7 due to my horrific experience with the G6. Once I was finally able to get back to my product of choice, the Libre, my signal loss continued, maybe even got a little worse, which shocked me as I had never experienced signal loss until I went to Dexcom, when I got my Tandem pump... So now, I am starting to think the problem is the Tandem pump, not the Dexcom or the Libre. Tandem really screwed up Libre's product imo as I loved the 2 and 3 prior to Tandem. Now whenever I have issues, I have to call Tandem and their hoops to test, in order to get a replacement are just stupid... I had to move my Libre to my stomach to fix the signal loss too and I've been trucking fine since, so again, thank you so much for the good advice.

I wear the G7 and have these issues also. Thank you for this video. I had a different problem with my last G7 where my Apple Watch DexCom app was saying loss of signal but my phone was showing no signal loss.just very annoying because it kept doing it. I wound up just removing the Watch app till I replaced the sensor.

Thanks for the info about how the underlined LBL number indicates an upgraded version. Can't wait to hear from someone who's tried both to hear if the updated G7 is in fact better. I'm still waiting for integration with Omnipod 5 so I'm still on the G6, but I will be very hesitant to make the switch to G7 when the time comes if they can't improve the signal loss issue. Great video!

I find using the Dexcom receiver much less troublesome than using my cell and the app. Also love the fact the G7 receiver easily lasts as long as the sensors on a single charge. Only had my G7 for about 2 mo. but so far only signal loss I've had was caused by laying on the sensor while sleeping.

Dexcom definitely has bad quality control that the problem that was known and still present on the G6 is now only fixed on a newer version. And it is really bad that they still ship the devices with the old firmware.
One other tip (for G6 at least- as I can't use the G7):
before replacing your transmitter, remove the old transmitter from your phone's Bluetooth devices. If you have a very long list of dexcom devices listed on the phone, that definitely does not help.

Again I must thank you for your helpful videos. I have been befuddled by all the complaints about signal loss. For many months I've had no signal loss issues. I have worn the G7 on both my arms and on my abdomen. No problem with signal loss. But 20 days ago I installed a sensor on my abdomen and kept my receiver in a pocket on the other side of my body. I had multiple signal losses every day. I switched the receiver to a pocket on the same side of my body where my sensor was intalled and the signal loss errors disappeared. I can only assume the transmitter in the sensor is very weak.

I find my receiver doesn’t loose signal very often at all. My IPhone and Apple Watch frequently do. Love your suggestions. If folks don’t mind using both receiver and phone you might have a similar result as I-better results. It made my walks in the woods less uncertain and I felt safer as I am brittle. Appreciate your videos!

Thank you, the information has been helpful. Just FYI: Changed from G6 to G7 and I have had terrible communication issues with the G7 until my last order of sensors. First sensor and no issues for last 10-days. I looked on the package and the LBL number is underlined. Too early to be definitive, but there has been a world of difference so far. There are two date codes on the box. I assume the first is the manufacturing date. It reads 9-1-2023 on the box I am looking at.

I put a new g6 on yesterday (outside right upper arm) and had no signal loss until I went for a walk tonight. This isn't anything new to me but I'm always trying to figure out the why & how to prevent it.
I think it was the act of walking & naturally swinging my arms that made it go out for like 10 min, then back on for about 10, then off for another 10 near the end of the walk.
It seems like exercise, hiking, things like that can lead to signal loss which is rough bc it's advertised as exercise friendly (which it should be). A simple walk or hike shouldn't stump the system. I dont use my phone fyi, just the Tandem pump.

Christel great info. I think Dexcom meant 20 inches not 20 feet. I started swapping which pocket I keep my phone in according to which arm my Dexcom in on. I have thought about getting one of the phone holders that you wear on your arm just to reduce the signal loss. As I just got a shipment on new sensors in, so I went to check them after watching your video and I have the new version. I will be looking to see if they help. Even with the signal loss problem I still like my G7 sensors. I wish that the Dexcom G7 receiver would Bluetooth to my Iphone , then I would keep the Dexcom receiver close. Then the Iphone could share my data with my wife and Clarity for trending. Thanks again for being such a wealth of information!

I had signal losses initially with G7 but I found if I put my phone and receiver on top of my headboard (the top of the headboard is flat wood), I don’t get signal losses at night. I am a side-sleeper so I put my phone/receiver where they are more in line with the sensor so no signal loss, i.e. sensor on left side, put phone on headboard more to my left side. Elsewhere, I put things on the couch arm or on the pillow on the other side depending on which side my sensor is on, and I do use both arms and stomach for sensor placement. I used to have one of those pocket things where you put a flap under the mattress and it hangs down from the side of the bed, but when my sensor was on my opposite side, I’d get alerts frequently during the night.

I have been applying the G7 sensor on my stomach for the last 6 months. I use an I Phone SE, an Apple Watch SE, and a Dexcom G7 Receiver. Yes, the I Phone likes the stomach a lot better. However the Dexcom G7 receiver rarely losses the signal. I can leave G7 receiver in a room, walk away from it, come back later and it still has not losed signal. I have been getting the new sensors with LBL underlined, but have not noticed much improvement with I Phone signal loss. I wish they would get Bluetooth to Apple Watch working, that might help with some signal loss. Thanks

Hi, I am on day 3 of switching from Dexcom G6 to Dexcom G7 and I connect to the tandem pump only. (I connect my android phone via t:connect) I am averaging no less than 3 disconnects daily so I am trying to keep my pump on the same side as the arm I am wearing the cgm. When I was using g6 I would only see about 1 disconnect monthly so even tho this is an inconvenience I am very happy with the g7 overall. I also checked my 90 day supply of cgms all have the underlined lbl..

I found out to stop signal loss with the G7. I use the app on my iPhone normally and that is where I see signal loss, but I also have a Dexcom receiver. So I decided to use both at the same time to see if the signal loss is mainly a iPhone problem or also the Dexcom receiver. Since I started this experiment I have not had a single signal loss in 20 days.

Even on my stomach when my phone is itches away from my sensor, I still get multiple signal losses. I have found the easiest way to get it back and even the quickest way to get it back is to turn Bluetooth off in the settings menu and wait till I get the announcement that I need to turn Bluetooth back on which is about 30 seconds and then I turn it back on and within five minutes I have signal again but many times my phone has been literally just a few inches above the sensor on my stomach, and I still get signal loss now when I had it on my left arm that was a nightmare. Either I will wear it on my stomach or my right arm because my phone is always in my right pocket or on the right side of my recliner. I do know that we received another app update for the iPhone this morning, Saturday, January 6, 2024.

I am going to try the stomach area. My stomach is the best for my insulin sensitivity so maybe the sensor will do better there. Not only do I get signal losses to my phone and pump, this G7 that I have on my arm now has been so inaccurate (showing numbers way lower than what my blood glucose meter shows) which causes my T.I.R. to be way lower than normal. It essentially says that my readings are way lower than 70. I do have the line under the LBL number.

I thought it was just my pump being stupid or something, I put my sensors on my arms for like 5 years. Now I have to practically tape my pump to my sensor, and because of that I see at as wholly inferior to the g6. I would much rather deal with sites falling off after 7 days and that weird residue over a near constant inconvenience that has made my snap my first 2 pump cartridge wires.

If your insurance won't cover it, the only other option (after appealing it of course) is cash pay. You can see the price of the different CGMs on GoodRx or ask at your pharmacy. Dexcom G7 is about $60 per sensor (10-day wear) when using their coupon without a prescription

I haven't switched to the G7 yet, but the G6 has the same issues staying connected to my TSlim pump. I ALWAYS wear the pump on my left rear pants pocket, and have for the last 35+ years. I have issues when I wear the sensor on the right side of my belly. I never use my arm. It is especially an issue when seated. I just have to set the pump on my lap while it reconnects. It is annoying though. I was hoping they had fixed this with the G7.

I tend to be a rules follower when it comes to medications; unless my doctor prescribes "off-label use," I follow the instructions. However, I am seriously considering switching my G7 to use on my stomach. Do you know why the G7 is not certified for use on the stomach in the US as it is in Europe?

    • @DiabetesStrong

According to the label that’s where they saw the best accuracy. My guess is they only filed for arm wear in the US to be able to claim higher accuracy. But that’s just a guess

NO! NO! NO! Signal loss is NOT A THING OF THE PAST with the Tandem X2! As a long-term Dexcom user for over 10 years, I say that Dexcom must fix this issue ASAP. I use my Dexcom G7 with a Tandem X 2 insulin pump. I am into my third G7 sensor . [Yes I am using the upgraded G7s.] Both devices are attached to my body. They are never more than 30 inches apart. Yet, the signal between my Dexcom and pump gets lost FREQUENTLY. This often happens when I walk outdoors. But it also happens when I sit at my desk. The G7 is also prone to falling off.

If it's a consistent difference, like always 10-20 mg/dl off, they might just be calibrated differently. They can also be different when blood sugars are changing. The reason is that a CGM measures in the fluid under the skin, and that's about 10-15 min behind the bloodstream.

I think it can go directly to three items. So right now mine should go directly to my Tslimx2 and my phone and it should be direct to watch some time this year. Right now it has to have a phone to transmit to a watch.

Just had my first G7 problem. I had a sensor with no needle and a tiny puncture hole in the top of the sensor. It would not pair to my phone and upon removal I noticed no needle and the puncture. I called Dexcom and they are replacing my sensor and I am returning the problem sensor to them for evaluation.

Quite a few people, including me, have had that problem (I first heard about this problem on a different podcast). The flexible filament came out the top hole instead of going into my skin. Dexcom sent a replacement.

No, there is no direct-to-smartwatch solution, yet. Hopefully we'll see at least a direct to apple watch solution in the near future

I'm having issues with my G7 sensors. When I get a low or high alarm, I get it several times in a row. For ex, with a low it'll show 79 beep 70 beep 65 beep. Don't understand why I just don't get the first beep when I start to go low or high. Anybody else have these issues?

    • @DiabetesStrong

It might be your alarm settings. It can be set to repeat alarms (snooze) and alarms at different levels

Thanks. I'm using the same settings I had with the G6 but will stop a few of the alerts to see if it makes a difference.@@DiabetesStrong

I'm not a diabetic, but I assist a man that is. He just recently switched from the G-6 to the G-7 and he is not happy. He gets his sensors from the VA and they sent him 9 boxes. I was with him helping him. We followed the instructions to the letter. We went through 4 sensors before we got one to work. The first one refused to pair. The 2nd one paired, but had a sensor failure about 10 minutes later. The 3rd one also refused to pair. This was 10 days ago. I did finally call Dexcom and they sent replacements. This morning we changed sensors and the very first one refused to pair. I decided to use one of the replacements sent and it paired and an hour was still working. I use the follow app and can see it is still working. My question is what is going on with the signal coming from these G-7 sensors? Of the 9 sensors sent to him, 4 were bad. I think he has 4 left of that 9 unopened. he is planning to make contact and return to the G-6 soon!

It sounds like that whole first batch was bad. I've never had that happen but I wonder if the company that sent them didn't store them correctly or something like that since the ones you got directly from Dexcom seems to work.

@@DiabetesStrong As long as Dexcom replaces the sensors the guy is OK. I did speak to him this afternoon. He is 100% planning to go back to the G-6. To be honest, just based on what I have seen I am not impressed with the G-7.

And here I thought I might tell my Endocrinologist that I want to switch from the Medtronic system and I thought Dexcom was the way too go. Reliability and accuracy are everything even if I have to accept something bigger and heavier.

I still think it's a great CGM, but as with everything, it's not perfect

The Dexcom G6 is hundreds of times more accurate than any Medtronic CGMS. I will very happily continue to use the old Dexcom G6 with my Tandem pump until after Dexcom figures out its mess with the new G7 CGMS. Tandem pump is also much better than Medtronic pump. Tandem pump actually keeps your blood sugars under control. Unlike Medtronic pump.

I got a grant on the Dexcom G7. but their app is not compatible with my phone. who also makes an app for the 3 worst phones on the market. but yes then can't use it for anything. just have to wait for the Chinese for their approval, then it may be that there is a cmd sensor that works and is sticks to the skin. but it turned out that dexcom is just as bad as abbot libra

I am recently using the g7 from the G6. The G7 sucks and is a piece junk. I despise the Dexcom G7. I despise the fact that I am a a Beta tester for bad quality and design.
