Oh no! So sorry you fell and praying for quick healing. WOW! That’s a lot of snow! I do love seeing it but that sure looks like a lot of work. We have been getting up in the upper 60’s with tons of rain. It drizzled rain for 2 days straight so I’m ready to see the sun!

I love pit bulls! I have a blue nose and my daughter has a champagne pit. So now we have 8 champagne blue nose pups they originally bread them to be nanny dogs. Having puppies in the house brings back memories of having sleepless nights after having babies. Lol
This snow is crazy but it’s beautiful. Nature in Alaska makes you slow down and enjoy the view.

I'm from Alabama. The first time I traveled and experienced "real snow" I was not expecting how wet I got. It makes sense, that it gets on you and then melts. But like you said, if it's not part of your life, you don't think about the practical parts. It just looks pretty in pictures. Also learned, it doesn't stay pretty lol.

Hi Jessica, Aaron and sweet family! Oh my goodness Jessica, I hope your alright. That was a nasty fall.
The dogs are so cute playing in the snow.
I fell down my parents steps when we lived in Chicago. I was heading home and I was 8 months pregnant, it had rained. The rain made the painted steps slippery. It was 20 steps and all I remember was seeing my feet for the first time in months. I wasn’t hurt, but my back was sore and bruised. I thought my poor mama and daddy where going to flip out.
You made me laugh out loud talking about putting your boots on the wrong feet and saying you where a toddler, lol.
I did a similar stunt. My dad owned a catering and vending company. This was after we moved back to Tennessee. He had a huge catering event at a GE plant, about 500 people. He asked if I would and of course I said yes. He told me what day and time he needed me. So it was about 3:00 am I got up to get ready to go to my dads.
I thought I was smart and laid my clothes as shoes out the night before to keep from waking up my husband.
I had a two pairs of flat shoes I loved, but one pair was plum and the other pair was burgundy.
Both colors match the top I had picked out to wear. I laid the shoes side by side and thought I would decide in the morning when I got dressed.
Needless to say, I got dressed in the dark even put my shoes on. I made my way to my dad’s house and walked in where there was several other people there to work that day.
My dad said, hun, do you need money? I looked at him really puzzled as to why he would ask me that. I said no, why? He said you have the same shoes, but two different colors. I looked down at my feet and sure enough, I had one burgundy shoe and one plum color. Boy did I feel stupid. Everyone started laughing and now I can laugh about it too. I did call my husband to bring me one or the other of my shoes since he was going to be traveling that morning to another county that was close to my dad’s. At least I would look presentable at the catering.
Poor Aaron worked a longtime out in that snow. I’m sure everyone enjoyed your delicious chicken and dumplings. That was always a good stick to your ribs meal on a cold snowy day for my family. I’m glad everyone made it home safely. Beautiful sunset Sorry I’m long winded. Have a blessed night and day!!

@@modernhomesteadalaska life is so real sometimes, I just think to myself and say..what where you thinking, lol. If we can’t laugh at ourselves, then we surely have no sense of humor. My daddy was the biggest jokester and believe me, I didn’t live that one down. He got me a pair of baby shoes for Christmas. That’s ok, I got him a six foot stuffed Noid from the old Pizza Hut commercials because he would imitate that thing. He kept it for years sitting in one of his office chairs. Guess my sense of humor runs in the family, lol. Have a blessed night and weekend!

Don’t tell Erin that James has a covered cab on our plow…hahaha. One winter we woke up and all our windows were covered in snow. We had to go dig out so we could see out. That winter we had 6ft of snow on the ground….it was crazy but beautiful too.🇨🇦❄️🎄❄️

That looks like a pretty mean Ouchi I have no doubt you’re gonna have a black and blue leg from your bum near your knee. As cold as it is up there don’t forget to use ice on it and also there is something called Arnica or Arnicare, which helps with the pain and reduces the bruising faster than if you left it on that own. I’m sure you can get it at your pharmacy and also off Amazon it’s not very expensive and it’s really a plus for your medicine cabinet. At my age I use it as a body cream😂😂😂 the backdrop is absolutely beautiful with the trees on covered in snow and watching the dogs play in it it looks like the big dog tries to protect Tipper a bit, knowing he might get stuck in the snow and get run over. As gorgeous as it looks I know it’s very cold and it could be deadly. Living in Toronto (3 mil people) we don’t get a lot of snow right in the city we have had a couple of sprinklings but nowhere near what you have.🎄🤶❤️ we may get a few weeks of below zero cold in January & February. We seldom loose power. A bad ice storm could it & has in the past, but it’s never out for long.

That snow time was amazing, I enjoyed it so much. Those heavy snows are a different animal all together and so much more work. It's been so long since I've been in real snow, it was a good reminder when I saw your windshield wipers up. It ices here in Dallas and I forget to do that. Of course here, we aren't prepared for snow and ice and just stay home. It was interesting to see the sun up and sun down times, I didn't realize how short your days were. I had a feeling when you said "dumplings" I was going to see the real thing and they were! Here in Dallas the dumplings people make are like thick noodle chunks, not pillowy puffs. The way you made them is what I grew up on. I know how to make them but can't remember my mom's recipe to get them nice and fluffy like that. Could you please share your recipe? Love to watch your vido's!! We have as much rain as you have snow in the Netherlands (snow is more work but nicer to be in). In Austria they have alongsides the roads and around other obstacles (like your well) long poles. So you now where the road is with heavy snowfall. You could also put them around your well as wel 🙂 Did you not buy the black coat? It looked very nice.

Hi! Love your channel! I was googling mammoth headwear, they have larger size hats, (my boyfriend has one cause he has a big head and likes there hats). But they dont have beanies! Hopefully one day i can find some. Some are even too small for me. Just wanted to bring that brand up incase your husband is looking for a summer hat, they are kinda pricy but at least they would fit more comfortably. Wishing you and your family a happy holidays!! Stay safe out there!

If you fall a lot maybe sitting on that tractor isn't a good idea...lol...I can laugh- I fall easily too. lol. On another note, Aaron is a good man. I have a good man too, so I recognize one when I see one.

Nope not this amount or location. Yes other locations do get snow like this. But 70 year old born and raised folks have never had what we have in a life time. We do get this amount but usually it’s spread out not back to back to getting another one Thursday.

Hard to believe it was record breaking. I woke one Mother's Day in 2010 to a 3ft dump of snow. Yep was out shoveling snow on Mother's day. Seen some winters with barely any snow and others way more than we have seen this year or last year. Was so bad one year that they had a wall of snow 3 stories high on the road driving in and out of Valdez, all you would see was snow on both sides and blue skies above and that's it, gave me the creeps. We are trying to get someone out to shovel our roof, over 2 ft on it. I believe the threshold hold is 3 ft and they start caving in. Sun and Mon another front is coming in and we will get several more inches. You have the right tools and young enough to do the physical labor, it will be hard but it is a I Can Do job. Use some noxima on your bruises helps heal them up quickly. My one daughter lives near the Three Bears in Chugiak she was out of power on and off for a few days now. I hope you guys keep power and have a generator for a back up. Power outages can go a week at a time. Tip eat a banana or potatoes for the potassium and a Epsom salt bath for the magnesium really helps with the aches and pains of hard work.

@@modernhomesteadalaska It is good to have multiple means. 1 is none, 2 is one. We have a 2000 and a 3000 Honda gens that can piggy back that gives a total of 4500 I don't know what happens to the 500 watts but it is what it is. My neighbors have the generators that kick on Generac 5 sec it's on super expensive. I can keep all my freezers and fridge, tv, laptop, charge phones on the 2000 so rarely do we use the 3000. We use it when we need a air conditioner used to have a microwave but had it removed those two need higher energy pull. If you keep fuel must use the highest octane possible and use stabilizer. In the summer at 70 degrees have to burp the cans and twice a day at 80. Keep on the north side coolest as possible.
