Can do. Value is definitely one of the most important things we talk about on the channel. I love being able to apply it to the reviews. Hope it's relevant and hope it helps
Hello Brother. I tried this ball today, 9/28/24. I love them. This ball performed great. My mis hits were not severe like the Triad. The triad really penalizes you. I shot +4 on 18. Great spin, rolled smoothly, and very workable. I am a 6 handicap. Thank you for challenging me to play this ball. I found that your analysis is 98% correct, lol. Well done!
That's awesome. I definitely agree with the triad comparison. Now that it's been a few days I can definitely say I love the golf ball when it comes to the tour market.
I decided to try these balls this year when they a buy 2 get 1 free offer. Great balls at a great price. I’m also a HUGE fan of the Bridgestone BRX balls.
That's awesome. Going to be a really good week for you because the next four reviews are all the Bridgestone line. It'll be easy to do a direct comparison since they're so close
Nice review. I did buy the Staff model when they did the 2 for 1 deal. Honestly, I'd buy them again. I have been playing the Staff model ball for two months now and love it. I'm a 9 handicap and if Wilson does this deal again, I'll be buying more. My approach shots are hitting and sticking to the green. Generally my ball might release about 2 to 3 feet past the divot. Extremely happy with that. Enjoyed your review! Keep it up!
Thanks for the review as always. Maybe one day I will try this one. Right now enjoying the Wilson Triad. Look forward to your next review. Keep up the great work.
Awesome. If you ever get the opportunity I would definitely give it a shot though. I think I like it a little bit better than the triad personally. But it's going to depend on your preference for feel
Great review, I like the race car vs every day grocery car analogy. Except the Boost is like an old school civic/mazda speed 3 you used to buy for 9 grand
Another great and honest video. I have tried this ball, scoring ok with it. With my swing and playing style, i was able to get the ball to stop with 6 feet of my ball mark on the green. I have to play a very high shot. I’m still loving my OnCore vero x1. I will be trying the boost soon.
Played high school golf in the 80's and always wanted some Staff Irons as they were easily the best back then but couldn't afford them. Since about 2004 I used Staff Irons exclusively. I started with the Fat Shaft Mandrell's, then bought the fat shaft deep reds, the deep red II, then bought some beautiful Staff blades, then bought the Ci11's, then got the c200's. Loved them all. I wanted the CB irons to continue my Wilson staff streak but was talked into the Mizuno JP923's. It took a lot for me to change and don't get me wrong, I love my Mizuno's but as you said "I'm partial to Wilson" and I completely understand and still, find myself drooling over the CB's which I more than likely am going to get anyways. I still use their Staff Model wedges and a C300 5 fairway metal. I also still use the Triad ball and last years staff which are as good a ball as you can buy. I love that I'm the only one in my group that has anything Wilson. Especially in the fairway when they go up to my ball and say "Wilson???" I say, "that's mine", leaving a confused look on their faces. Wilson screwed up selling beginner sets at Kmart and Walmart back when they were number 1. Tons of golfers bought the cheap ones and now associate those with the premium Staff lineup of clubs Wilson sells. I think they're making a comeback. Either way, I will always be partial to Wilson Staff products too. Good day!
Love the take here. Agree with your opinion. Wilson probably got a little too greedy at times and it might have cost them a few years on the market. I still think they are criminally underrated
I played the Staff back in the 80’s (wound rubber, liquid core and, I think, surlyn cover) great ball till I got one shaped like an egg! Just a bad one that got through QC! I ended up with Titleist Tour Professional 100’s after that and bar the odd side track still playing Titleist but Wilson, Vice and getting older is making me re-evaluate and nearly £50 a box for Pro V1’s!
As it should. The fact that pro v ones are almost $60 a dozen after tax is insane. There's so many amazing golf balls we've tested now that are half the price and test just as good for average swingers
once again, Wilson rocks. From data collected from this season, I came up with few things: - Long iron balls are not long driver balls. Wilson balls are long iron balls. - I rather play with long driver balls with consistent iron distance such as Legato, MTB 3.0 or Vice Pro+.
That usually does seem to be the case. Also keep in mind that could be a human error, some golf balls just seem to do better with different launch angles. Golf balls with better forgiveness tend to go longer as well
Wilson probably the most underrated brand in golf great clubs and balls. The quality and performance is great and the prices are sane unlike the big boys where prices have now become obscene especially here in the UK where everything is a rip off. As I say pay more get less.
Played last round with Staff Model and was amazed how long this ball go. Amazing feel out of my Wilson CB irons. Not sure how I feel about this around greens yet but you need To be more agressive with wedges In order To make it spin enough.
For sure. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I would absolutely love to try out some of those Wilson CB irons as well. Have you enjoyed yours?
20 handicap here (I don’t lose balls per say, my putting game is absolutely atrocious) I tried these today, and man these were a ROCKET off the club. Putting with it was amazing in terms of feel. I did a 95 yard pitch shot with my 54. One bounce, and stopped; about 3 yards of rollout. Would I play it from now on? Probably not, however I need to play them more to see. I love the ERC Softs/Bridgestone BRXS/Z Stars. These aren’t in my top 3 however I would buy them before spending $55/dzn. I would recommend, short game feel amazing. Reminds me off an old chrome soft.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I agree with what you said. What's really great about the Wilson is not only are they performing incredibly on human test, but also with robotic testing they come up in the number one spot consistently. I think it's incredible what Wilson's doing but I agree I wouldn't pay the $50 per dozen
Nice review! I like how you tied the Boost back in. Although it’s another expensive tour ball, have you put the 2024 Bridgestone B Tour RXS with the Mindset alignment aid on your test list? I bought a sleeve and that ball spun like a tornado around the green!! Crazy!🌪️
Very cool review. Definitely enjoyed the comparison between these two given the striking similarities in performance and huge price disparity. I'm sure you've mentioned this elsewhere, but how would you compare the Boost and the Zip? I understand the Zip isn't marketed as a "distance king" but I have been getting some crazy long and straight iron shots with it. I'd love to try the Boost, but not sure I'm ready to give up the Zip forgiveness.
@GolfBallAddict that would be awesome. As a side note, really appreciated the Marvel reference. Our trivia team name used to be "Thanos was right." People booed us every time our name was called out. It was great lol.
Last standby around 21:00 is so true how hard do you swing ? Balls are designed around BALL SPEED so stay with golf balls for your swing speed a lower swing speed ball will go longer than spending 60$ for a prov1 if your driver speed is 92
if you compress it more you can get why higher spin out of it, i went from the wilson triad to the wilson staff model and staff model x depends on the course and greens you need higher swing speed to compress these golf balls but they are very good..
Absolutely. I forgot to mention it in the video, but it also matters heavily what course you are playing. If I'm playing along open links course I have no problem getting the extra distance and having a little less spend. I would play the crap out of this ball at my work lol.
I just watched the review of the boost, it had better spin and driver distance was better. I did pick a couple dozen of the boost to test them out. It reminds me of the precept laddie. So if you can do a retest of the laddie with your new equipment and monitor and compare it to the boost the results might be interesting.
I’m gonna be 68 and Old Ball player and I spin the Shit out of Tour Balls ,Shot 71 -1 under an week ago , with Taylormade Tour response ! Play King Cobra Forged TEC Irons and my back up set are the TAKOMO 101’s and can work the Ball with both sets ! Play nothing but Urethane Balls and experiment with different models as I have Hundreds of balls . Play 2-3 Times an Week and on off Days hit balls into my back woods and will go round them up about once an month , Have 7 -5 gallon buckets with My practice Balls. Love Your Expertise !!!
How do you think the boost compares to the zip? Can't get the boost here in the UK but the zip is still available. A comparison with your old favourite Wilson two piece Vs your new one would be awesome at your new speed and with a new launch monitor.
Honestly I need to find out if they're still going to be making the zip or not. At this point I'm hearing mixed messages and I don't want to do another test on it if it's just going to be gone soon.
@michaelfrench9597 I actually have. No complaints with that ball either. I haven't used a cheap 2 piece ball in years like the Zip. The review peaked my interest
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback. I don't know if you'll have the same results as a higher swing player, but it's definitely worth it to try it out for experimental purposes
I've played a few rounds with this model ball. Pretty solid ball. Interesting about the the Boost version. Picked them up. Played them a few times. They are fine. It does launch high. Sort of a challenge yesterday in higher winds. It is long. But can't be faded as easily. It held greens just fine. Now, that is me. Gave a sleeve to a more Sr. golfer who is very consistent. He was not a fan. Performed ok but he didn't like the feel. What does this prove? Try out balls to see what fits. I know people who love the Srixon soft ball. or Cally SS. Way too soft for me but its a feel thing. To each their own.
I guess the x model is coming soon too? I wonder if that will deliver more spin whilst maintaining ball speed? By all accounts I have read the x model is the better of the two ball,.
Did some small research on the new Wilson staff balls. The 2023 and 2024 staff model balls are very different. The new staff model ball was designed to be lower spinning then the 2023 model. This 2024 model was made after some of the pros they have on staff had a problem with too much spin and were ripping balls off the green due to backspin. The 2024 staff model X is closer to the 2023 staff model ball. The spin results your getting makes me think that this is correct.
That's really good information. Thank you so much for taking the time to research it and share it with me. This makes me actually very excited for the ex model. I'm going to see if I can get my hands on one
So the tour has more spin around the green that’s what urethane does for a golf ball and the 2 piece has more distance that’s always been the case so if you have a TRUE short game then game the Tour if not save a bunch of $ and try the Boost 👍
Is the Wilson Duo Soft on your list of balls to review? You've reviewed the older model, the Duo Soft +. I was wanting to see how it compares, and also how it does on your new launch monitor.
@GolfBallAddict Which of the premium urethane balls, in your opinion, provides the best performance? I personally feel like something in the 80-90 compression range with healthy green-side spin, mid launch, and higher ball speeds offer the best performance all around. Would love to hear your take. Thanks.
You're not far off. I would actually probably agree pretty much with the majority of this take. I like the lower end of '80s compression for sure. Even when the Chrome soft was 72 I absolutely adored it because of how soft it felt. So even a high 70s or a mid-70s for that matter works really well also. For me it's definitely all about iron accuracy and consistency as well as good forgiveness. Most of the golf balls in the range you're talking about are really good at that. Golf balls like the legato, the wright and ditson, vice Pro line etc. Have all stood out this year tremendously. Even the snell did really well in those categories
@@GolfBallAddict I haven't tried the legato or W&D, but have played the Vice balls. Love the Vice but they seem to just keep going up in price which makes them less appealing than some of the others out there... Really interested in the Mizuno Tour RB's, which may be what i try next... Currently gaming Wilson Triad, solid performer all around.
You have a smart buddy. The reality is, these golf balls are doing incredible not only in human test but also robotic test. They are just a phenomenal golf ball and many people still don't know about it
Living here in Thailand on my British pension, I have to be careful with my money. For me,an average golfer, I cannot justify paying so much more for the tour ball against the Boost golf ball. Wilson are without doubt a great manufacturer of golf equipment, you just have to pick what suits your game and the tour ball is, for the price, not going to improve my score over the Boost . 5 boxes of Wilson Boost or 1 box of Wilson Tour for the same price, with the results in your testing, it is a no brainer.
Yeah really great point there. It's basically buy one get four free if you think about it compared to $50 a dozen. Getting five for the same price is getting one is a significant difference for a lot of people.
Is there any instance where an average golfer would T this up on a course over the boost while playing the boost for the majority of the holes? Like keep in pocket as a utility ball?
I could see it as a game changer when you need a little extra help around the greens. The ball checks up incredibly and feels buttery. Other than that I don't really recall any other instance
Hey, did you know that Cut Golf is using alot of your pictures on their website and "really alot" on their subsribed newsletters? Just asking if you permitted this.
Kind of lol. It's good to know they're using my stuff. Any press is a good press I suppose. I'm currently in talks with management and I'm getting ready to review their new lineup.
This is a really good ball... on par with the ProV... the problem is Wilson is charging almost what the ProVs cost so they aren't going to pick up market share. but if in 2025 they do a "buy 3, get one free," you should give them a try.
I know they ran a buy two get one free a couple of times this year. I think if they keep putting up incredible results in robotic testing and human testing people will start to notice as well. Especially with Titleist going upwards of $60 a dozen
@@GolfBallAddict One of the good things that has happened in the last several years (that you have covered really well) is the growth of "other" golf ball options. Maxfli... Vice... Costco... Amazon... and that has dug into sales totals for the big guys. (You've plugged the Vice and now I play it). Combine that with a little bit of greed FROM those big guys (chrome soft/tp5) raising prices to match the ProV and those big guys will be more hungry in 2025. They aren't going to drop prices but count on more "Buy X, get one free" offers. I'm told by reliable sources that while ProVs continue to sell well, there is a noticeable drop off in sales in the other premium balls mentioned. The other balls (ie. supersoft) continue to do well but that $50+ price point is tough and the buyer is picky.
Love your channel but I’m afraid I can’t trust this review. Because you are an open Wilson fan boy, you were in love with this ball before you even started the camera. 😛 I’ve played the Wilson Staff Model and didn’t enjoy it as much as other premium balls with more spin. But that’s why there are 500 different balls on the market right? 🤷🏼♂️
This ball suffers from the same issue as the triad.. you miss hit a long iron and it goes nowhere. Other than that I found it to be good. The staff model feels a bit harder and is shorter off the driver compared to prov1. Enjoyed the review
My testing personally found the triad to be worse on forgiveness. Obviously everyone's different, but as a whole I disagree with it being firmer and the pro v1. I find the Pro V1 to be much firmer than the staff model. Also every robotic test on the market has proven its longer than the pro v1. Did you maybe play a previous version?
Btw, with a swing speed of nearly 90mph with a 7 iron your swing speed is no longer average! 😂 Good effort in getting there but it's harder now to compare to you. My speed with a 7 is nearer to 80mph and 95 with driver.
I usually try to keep the 7-iron around 83 to 84 mph. It's just been so hot lately I end up finding myself over swinging. I need to be better about that. Thank you for watching and commenting 😁
@@GolfBallAddict we don't have that issue in the cold climate of the UK in autumn. 15 degrees Celsius and raining here! 90mph with a 7 is impressive speed. I have noticed your distances go up of late. 9 iron used to be 130 and it's now 150 and 7 gone from 150 to nearly 170. I wish I could gain some yardage like that but at age 50 I think it's unlikely. Keep up the good work, I always click in an instant when you release a new review. One of my favourite golf channels.
Without going through all your videos can you steer me towards your review on balls that run $24 per dozen. Play in our local Sr league and no reason to be playing $50 per dozen balls. As with most 70+ golfers looking primarily for distance
If I were you I would honestly check out my top 10 and my top 20 golf balls from last year. Lots of really great models on there. I would also add to it the Wilson boost,
Love your perfect analogy at the end. Thx for saving people money

I still have no idea why but I absolutely love golf balls. It's such a weird thing to be into
Would be interested to see a round where you split 9 holes with the Boost and 9 with the Staff Model.
That would be pretty cool. I honestly just love to even see them side by side.
Totally. If the time allows, it would be a great series where you compare cheap vs. expensive golf balls.
I played the model x the other day and I loved it. Wilson makes some great balls
I'm going to try and test that one soon

So the tour has more spin around the green that’s what urethane does for a golf ball and the 2 piece has more distance that’s always been the case so if you have a TRUE short game then game the Tour if not save a bunch of $ and try the Boost 👍
Tour?
Love your reviews, maybe some chips off the grass behind you just to compare reaction of the balls in real world shots
Honestly I've tried that but I don't have consistent enough grass. Most of it is actually just sand.
Interesting on the spin numbers related to the 9 iron--low spin--low trajectory...YET only 1 yard of rollout!
Could be a launch monitor thing too. I've noticed that even on the lowest of spinning golf balls I don't have a ton of roll out with the nine iron.
Very very interesting. My favorite tour ball when I feel like splurging is the TP5. Have you reviewed the Mizuno Max?
I haven't yet but it's on the list. I definitely want to get a review done soon just trying to get through the backlog.
@@GolfBallAddict....Slacker ..
😂
Is the Wilson Duo Soft on your list of balls to review? You've reviewed the older model, the Duo Soft +. I was wanting to see how it compares, and also how it does on your new launch monitor.
Yes I do have a sleeve of those on file. I will try to get them tested before the top 100 comes out
@GolfBallAddict Which of the premium urethane balls, in your opinion, provides the best performance?
I hope to improve enough to take advantage of this ball, but not there yet!
You will get there! Just keep grinding 😁🙏🏌️♂️⛳
Excellent review. Thanks. So not really for us average swing speed (95mph driver) players.
I mean if you're good enough then I would say you can probably play it. But you need to be close to scratch golfer. Otherwise it doesn't make sense
@@GolfBallAddict not for me - and never will be. I don’t have the ability!
Difference between Zip and Boost?
Zip is probably a little softer and squishier. But I think overall the boost goes a little farther
my buddy is a tour pro and he plays the Wilson Staff Model X. He convinced me to switch. I'll NEVER go back to anything else haha.
You have a smart buddy. The reality is, these golf balls are doing incredible not only in human test but also robotic test. They are just a phenomenal golf ball and many people still don't know about it
@@GolfBallAddict arguably the smartest tour pro I know. Wilson is truly firing
Would love to see an on course comparison of the two.
That's what a couple other people have said and I think it would be an amazing video. I'm going to try to get it going
Can you do a staff vs triad
If you are looking for consistency and spin, the triad is your ball. If you like a more premium feel and more distance, go with the tour
Will try out the new PXG line of golf balls?
Yes. They are on the way
What Staff Model ball was #6 listed on the Today's Golfer Robotic list you showed? The X?
Yes I believe that to be correct
My golf bag is mostly Wilson now. Imagine if Wilson advertised a little more than they do. They would start to really move forward.
Oh absolutely. I reached out to them about collaboration to maybe get the word out, but they declined
Been using Wilson wedges for 4 years now. Not going back.
There's a couple times I really wanted to try them. They were an amazing deal a while back and I should have pulled the trigger.
@@GolfBallAddict New lineup? I don't think that will be available for some time.
Can you please review the callaway diablo
And Diablo Tour 3 piece,surlyn .
Will do
Hope Your Prepared for the Weather ,My Deceased Father in law lived in Panama City ,getting ready to get hit again,Stay safe !!
I’ve played the Wilson Staff Model and didn’t enjoy it as much as other premium balls with more spin.
It’s just tonight Can get a tour response for 40
Btw, with a swing speed of nearly 90mph with a 7 iron your swing speed is no longer average!
90% of golfers would do just as well if not better using something like a Boost or a Noodle
I would agree with that. Most people believe due to marketing that it would kill their game, not the case
I would also add to it the Wilson boost,
Mow the lawn.
