Office rent: depends on the location, size etc. obviously. But to give you an idea:
1) 1-3 people offices in downtown Shanghai: starts at ¥2000 / month ($275/month) and up.
2) 1-3 people offices in outside of downtown: starts at ¥1000 / month ($138/month) and up.

Quite affordable is the rental price. Two bedroom apt as big as 120 square meters in downtown is 13000 yuan only. I now live in Palo Alto, CA, where a very small suite is more expensive than that.
