Mereum went blind at the end there and was using his En to see with those tiny white particles. So Mereum became the same as Komugi at the end there. And Komugi finally got to see what he looked like by touching his face.

Some must have enjoy it but Pouf's death was so tragic and one of the saddest to me.
After everything he tried to do for the King.. he was agonizing seeing his dream ripped apart, then dies in a slow anti-climactic way... with no one he cares about around... just lying there bloody on the ground.. Heartbroken in his one sided "unconditional love" and loyalty while Meruem left him and died after finally knowing what trully matters : love

This arc was a parallel with Gon and Meruem, Gon turning into a monster while Meruem turning human. you can see the development throughout both characters. (Btw Gon definitely was not lying about killing komugi). Good reaction 👍🏾
gon did what he had to do to defeat pitou. stop with the "monster" comments. just look at how many people wanted gon to get serious before they were invading the palace. killua did, morel did, shoot did. people act like gon is supposed to be understanding to pitou who killed kite, used him as a puppet, lied to gon about healing him, while healing somebody else, was trying to buy more time and after that told him she must kill him.

I have never seen an anime where every single fan has the same thing to say about the philosophy of the show, I think it's that popular because it's easy to understand and not too deep. Not entirely a bad thing doe the message is still there.
@Trid Exactly what I was thinking. People comment this on every single HxH video, but I don't think they've actually thought it out. If anything, they should be more specific & say they became opposites of each other. Meruem began believing that strength should be used to protect the weak/helpless, which is definitely something that Gon stood by. Gon on the other hand became willing to kill in order to get his way, which is a quality that Meruem clearly had earlier on. It almost seems like people are just dismissing the entire explanation the show had about how humans can also be cruel.

Kite's brain was fed to the queen, they hinted at around the time they mentioned the brain being the most nutritious part of a human and that the queen was fed bits of a rare human.

Someone pointed this out in another reaction to this episode, but when Komugi says the line that ends with "...please allow me to join you" (I think the start is "Although I may not be worthy"), that is what a woman says when she gets married to a guy. That was basically Komugi's way of saying that she wanted to BE with him. Body and soul. No matter what.
There's only one anime that's made me cry more than this episode. And this is a *shonen* anime. Absolutely amazing.
By the way - this is how the arc ends. With peace. Love. Acceptance. It cost them all so much...but it ends with peace and love.

The Marshal(General)(King) gungi piece represents Mereum while the Spy(Ninja) piece represents Komugi because she secretly infiltrated his life but made it better.
seeing mereum and komugi spending their last moments together was pretty emotional as well as that little girl reuniting with her mom, that made me want to cry. love how her mom recognized her immediately and was just happy she was still alive, that was a tearjerker

_Throughout the entire show the concept of kindness was displayed and passed down through the characters. Gon showed kindness to Killua, Killua to Ikalgo, Ikalgo to Brovada and finally Brovada to Reina. In return the villagers showed kindness to Brovada_

For the significance of the real Diego's retirement its a connect to Meruem I think. They both were in a position of power, the ultimate ones as the King and the Supreme Leader yet they realised what truly matters in life and left their duty to be at peace. One in his last moment before death and the other one living the quiet and peaceful life away from wars like we saw..
I was trying my hardest not to cry in front of my wife and my son when we were watching this episode. With a trembling voice, I told them I just needed to go to the bathroom.

There was an analysis video I saw that explained what was going on in the final game the King and Komugi play. It was something like the move "Kokoriko" was a move that isolates the King piece away from the other pieces on the board, in order to take it out of play. Similar to what the Hunters were doing to the ants during their mission to take down Meruem. Each time Meruem plays a piece, he's basically saying that he must follow his destiny and die alone as was intended by the pieces on the board. Komugi, playing her reversal is showcasing to the King that he doesn't need to be alone during this time. Each time she's reversing his reversal, it's showing him that she's prepared to be with him even to the end, that he's not alone anymore. (The video goes into WAY more detail but that was kinda the gist of it.)

Machine (that was the username when I had watched the video) Episode 135 has so much symbolism that once you understand it
more it makes this episode way better; the entire gungi match was a reflection of this entire
operation
As they are playing gungi, Komugi uses Kokoriko (A gungi technique) it Means King itself
(King=Meruem) Kokoriko this technique is to win the game by making the king piece isolated Just
like Netero and the Hunters were planning to do to Meruem in this operation
Remember Meruem use kokoriko in episode 104 but Komugi tells Meruem this Technique is Shiro
(Road to Death) Isolated King must die this reflects the Bomb Netero use to kill Meruem but then
Komugi shows Meruem a new Technique To Save the isolated king in episode 135.
It means isolated King doesn't have to die Now this reflects Meruem surviving the bomb, in reality,
Meruem wasn't killed by the bomb But after Komugi uses that technique to save the isolated king,
Meruem counter attacks her new move that saves the isolated king so the new move Meruem used
to counter Komugi is saying that isolated king must die after all (By Poison) basically saying he can't
change his fate no matter what
But then Komugi finds a new Counterattack to the one Meruem used and said I'll go with you
meaning king is not alone anymore So as Meruem is still trying to win he can't win even once
(Meruem couldn't beat kokoriko) it means kokoriko is not shiro Road to death anymore meaning
Komugi save the isolated king
which was beautiful; showing that during this whole match Meruem was trying to win against
Komugi to basically die alone finding new moves to win he was trying so hard to die as kokoriko (An
isolated king) but Komugi manages to save the king each time and in the end, she saves the isolated
king
so after this, Meruem and Komugi start one final game a game that they never finish. 1-5-1 Black
King -> 9-5-1 White Lieutenant
General, Immediately afterward, they die together, leaving on the board Meruem's one black piece
and Komugi's single white piece, together in Gungi forever.
This represents that the two were always united through Gungi, and will continue to be together even
after death, undisturbed and united for all eternity. Meruem places his piece down, symbolizing his
death, and then Komugi responds by placing her piece down next to his, showing that she is
perfectly willing to die at his side.
so after all this, it shows us he lost everything but gained what he truly wanted. He didn't need any
soldiers, palace, countries, power, strength, even his sight(as Komugi) He just wanted to play Gungi with Komugi.
This is the same to her too. She had nothing besides Gungi. Nobody loved her and she couldn't play
Gungi as well as she did because she was so good at gungi no one could even match her She was
lonely, Gungi King(Queen?). But she gained Meruem. That's why she cried when he counterattacked
her new kokoriko. She once needed to create and kill tactics on Gungi by herself. But she gained the
perfect opponent and can create tactics with him(I guess to create tactics suggests to create a baby
as she said kokoriko is her baby.)
Now the black scene towards the end, Meruem keeps calling his gungi moves and asking Kumogi if
she is still there because he can no longer see her; he lost his sight to the poison. The entire room in
that scene is pitch black, except for the small dim lights following their hands, the show does this
because that's how blind people see, through their hands. This is ironic because Meruems name
means "the light that illuminates/shines upon all". He even got some godlike light-related
photon-based powers before his death, allowing him to fulfill his name. In addition, as they are
playing in the bunker before their deaths, Meruem sees a blinding light radiating from Komugi as she
"reverses his reversal", making her "the light that illuminates even the all-powerful light".
Despite being far weaker (and blind to boot), her light shined far brighter than Meruem's. Then, as
Meruem is slowly dying Komugi holds him and feels his head, allowing her to finally "see" or know
what his face is like. Meruem's face didn't feel human, but it didn't matter to Komugi. Thus, as they
die, Meruem joins Komugi in blindness as she joins him in death. Meruem can finally see what
Komugi has been seeing all along, and knows what it feels like to be blind like her, and Komugi finally
knows his face, allowing each other to understand the other more as they fade away (the OST used
during their death scene is called "Understanding").?
EXPLAINING KITE:
Kite’s slot chooses the best weapon for the situation he’s in, against pitou he got the wand/mace. We can assume that the wand/mace is used when they know they will die. What that weapon does is transfer his soul into another body which is meruems sisters’ body.
The 2nd theory is that pitou must have fed his internal organs to the queen which is why kite is seen with many stitches around his body so he did get reborn into that girl.
The first theory is primarily correct. They've hinted more than enough that this is REALLY Kite, and his nen ability REALLY DID reincarnate him.

Kite was able to come back due to his slot ability "Like Hell I'm gonna die" its also implied that his brain was probably feed to the queen so his essence and soul which lingered on due to his nen ability attached itself to the cimera ant that was the kings sister. Ging provides a better explanation in the manga

I too had a small debate for 30 seconds in my head after finishing hxh the first time and i realized how obvious it is, that his nen ability was responsible.
The whole reason they had kite saying,"its a bad roll" was to signify and alert the audience on the importance of the roll where he didnt say that, which i picked up on.
Then Ging literally said to gon, "kite has a special ability he only uses when he's adamant on not dying" when gon was headed to apologize to kite. How blatant can it be?

It's never spelled out to us but Pitou has the ability to put body parts back together and was still loyal to the queen before the king's birth, so it's safe to assume they fed Kite's brain to the queen and just kept the rest of his body as a puppet. Also, Kite's ability probably had a factor in this reincarnation, Ging mentions it later.

I think rob like the others appreciate the episodes especially that rob said that he is reading the manga after the anime, ive seen this show so many times and watched this in the 90's but i never touched the manga just bec of personal preference even though the manga is continuously progressing and im eager to know what happen but ive never touched it, rob watch i think he mentioned yuyu hakusho and dbz so im sure that he can relate to the emotion hxh gives and it doesnt look to me that he is emotionless but rather the opposite it is just inside ☺️

About the Kite thing, The Queen ate Kite's brain (Pitou kept his body) and gave birth to the baby which was Kite reborn. The little girl Kolt named Reina (after his sister) was actually Kite - as we have now learned (that's probably why the baby had such a human body, unlike the other chimeras.. i could be wrong there). Also, "Reina" in Spanish means "Queen", so Kite is technically the new queen of the ants.. kinda, lol.

People love to talk up Vegeta's or Zuko's character development, but Mereum's is the one that does it for me. Upon his introduction I wanted nothing more then to see him dead, but the irony was when he did die, I was brought to tears. I had done a complete 180 on my stance of Mereum, amazing story telling.

When she reveals that she found a counter for it, it was when the king might not have had to die. However, 135 reveals that the king did indeed have to die afterwards, just not the way they planned
It's implied that Pitou fed Kite's brain to the queen and just used his body as a puppet to train soldiers, similar to how her own headless corpse became a nen puppet. It's not said specifically but it's very easy to explain.

That episode with the King and Komugi playing the game for the last time felt like the last episode of the show I wasn't even thinkin about Gon or Killua to be honest it was like they'll get to them eventually that was a deep emotional good episode it kinda made you change your mind about the King and what you thought about him from the beginning when he was born and just ruthless I felt bad for both the King and Komugi especially Komugi seeing her go out like that and put her life on the line to be with the King but at the same time I get her strong feelings towards the King and like Pat said that's the most happiness she ever had in her life but the Chimera Ant Arc is over only 12 more episodes left it's gettin close to the end great reaction as always fellas
