What was the largest concert? Well the fifth largest was the Monsters of Rock Concert in 1991. It had to be hosted at an airfield to fit the 1.6 million people that turned up. This was small compared to the Bastille Day 1990 [2M] and Copacabana 1993/1994 [3M] concerts, and even smaller compared to the second largest which was the 850th Anniversary of Moscow Concert in 1997 [3.5M]. All of these are tiny compared to the largest concert in history however was the Copacabana New Years Concert in 1994/1995. This was hosted on the Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro and it attracted 4.2M people.

Being in a crowd of 1,000,000+ sounds like hell
I agree that's too dam much.
Imagine being in middle of crowd in concert & now you want to go home due to emergency. 💀
Iv been to way smaller ones and when it was over i was pulled in with the crowd all step by step walking forward with everyone against you.

1.6 million people attended Madonna's concert, that's a record for a solo artist considering that it was not a New Year event.
Jean Michel Jarre is a solo artist. so Oxygene in Moscow is still the record
Who
@@dontknowyou111 the guy with the Moscow concert
@@eraserreal again, you are wrong: people went to see Madonna and only Madonna in Copacabana. Her concert was NOT linked to any special occasion other than Madonna herself. In fact the artist you refer to that I have never heard of was invited to play for a concert celebrating the 850th birthday of Moscow. People would have been there regardless. The same goes with Rod Stewart: people would have attended the new year's eve party in Copacabana regardless of Rod Stewart. That's why Madonna's Rio concert makes history with the largest standalone crowd.
You can't count public/free concerts where anyone who lives in the area will turn up regardless of who the artist is. Paid/ticketed concerts are what counts. Madonna may have had 1.6m but so have others, too, and other artists will do that again. So there is nothing unique about Madonna's concert, impressive as the number is. Though, hers is not even no.1 on the list.
As for you saying you have never heard of the artist mentioned for the Moscow concert, you show your musical ignorance, which weakens your argument and shows your bias for Madonna.
It may have been a concert for Moscow, but it was called The Oxygene Tour, i.e. named for that one artist, so people were coming to see him, regardless of what you claim. And that was more than double Madonna's number.
Finally, as this article says, ALL these free concerts are wildly exaggerated. Madonna's concert (and others) could have been closer to 1 million.

Nothing compares to Live Aid 1985 with over 1.4 billion. Of corse that’s globally
Since this item is including all free concerts and those watching a long way from the stage, then yes you have to say Live Aid was technically the most attended and most watched concert ever.

75 million people gathers in India once in 12 years. This occasion is called maha kumbh mela. It is dedicated to bhrihaspati (Jupiter) which completes the revolution around the sun in 12 years. Our ancestors known this 1000s of years back. Unfortunately it is not a concert.

Concerts back then were a necessity for fans back then because aside from CDs and timed radio plays, thats the way for them to access their favorite band's music.
