This is so true, it’s crazy because they’re the only people that have basically ever done this. Yeah some people have a song or two but Queen have it with basically ALL their songs
As a Brit, I can confirm that we are born knowing all the words to Bohemian Rhapsody. We don't even know we know it until we find ourselves singing along.
I think if he was still around, heard this was happening at this concert, and he and the rest of Queen was in the area, I think he would have called the other three up to let them know about this, and then convinced them to meet up with him there while contacting Green Day to ask if they could go on for a song or two. Imagine the reaction the audience would have then.
That's what maked the international Gospelkirchentag so great 4500 people singing songs in 4 (sometimes more) pitches. Really awesome to be a part of that.
This proves that music is the language of the soul, 65k strangers together perfectly synchronized as one for almost 6 minutes straight, you don’t see that often
And in random places. That makes it even more amazing for me, cause is not some kind of tribute concert for Queen. Crowds start to sing BR all over the world at pretty random locations
You're a teenage kid, singing Bohemian Rhapsody with a few friends, and tens of thousands of strangers, and you're minutes away from seeing your favourite band live... Life is good...
God, that was me. Fifteen years old and in the circle with my best friend. my brother was twelve at the time. He started crying hysterically as soon as the band came out. Can confirm life was good.
who would have thought we wouldn't be able to do gather like this for a whole year plus, I miss concerts and festivals!!!! i'll take concerts, festivals, travel for granted again!!!!
I’m American and love it. My wife and I start every road trip with a Queen playlist. We sing along to every song and probably look like idiots rolling down the road but dammit Freddie is just too good.
I think a lot of older (age 30 and up) would absolutely sing this while waiting for a concert. It wouldn't be everyone, not at first. But then more people would join in and they'd all be really happy at the end.
this is the epitome of what any singer can achieve, no matter the no. of awards they win, after 40-50 yrs, and the crowd can still sing to your song... that's when your music transcends the ages and become a everlasting classic
In an interview, Freddie once said that nobody would care when he was dead and gone. Well Freddie, do you see now how wrong you were? Listen to that crowd. Almost 30 years after your death, and they're all singing for you. I think it's pretty safe to say that doesn't just happen for anybody. They all care. We ALL do and always will.
Having had to spend weeks practicing with an ensemble to make sure everyone is on the same note, the same tempo, the same energy, the fact that tens of thousands of people came together in a PERFECT rendition of this song with NO practice is shaking me to my core. Freddie Mercury and Queen are so powerful
I was at a concert of theirs in 2013 and they had a guy in a giant bunny outfit come out on stage and conduct the crowd to start singing just as this same song started playing. This was definitely planned (and it was amazing)
I would most definitely say it’s planned, especially since the volume changes on the track to help and assist in the fluidity of the song. But that doesn’t mean that it isn’t truly amazing and hands down the greatest way to unite and hype up the crowd. They all just got a major rush of adrenaline after that and feeling complete unity.
Prior to its release, Queen’s manager played a rough mix of the song to one of his other high-profile clients, Elton John, to get his opinion. “Are you f*cking mad?” was the singer’s reaction after listening to the nearly six-minute song. His verdict: it was too long and too “weird” for radio
Just did this at Wembley last night, 90,000 fucking people. I've waited 7 years ever since this video came out to do this at a GD gig and I cannot express the joy and beauty of this moment alone. Truly mesmerising.

@I have to wait 90 days to change my name .....I'm unsure why you tagged me here. Sorry that you have to wait 90 days, sorry that you're 14. Good luck with life, we've fucked it for your generation.
The way that cymbal just sits there until 1:59 and then moves in time with the lil tinkle sound after "sends shivers down my spine". (Yes I know it's the wind, yes I know the sound in the song isn't a cymbal, it still made me double-take at my screen.)
nah man... i want to believe freddy was right there, jamming with us with the best seat in the house. i picked up on that as well and honestly got a bit teary thinking "aye freddy you showed up for this =]"
To me it's just impressive how the crowd almost automatically sorted their voices into a basic mix of highs and lows. That's something that takes a lot of conscious effort to do
Rubbish. People tend to sing in their natural register. When you have a large crowd like that, you will get a decent spread of registers, so what do you expect?
I would 100% pay for a ticket... I don't care how much... JUST to go somewhere and be a part of this. Someone organize this. All you really need is a large enough open field and a good PA system. No stage, no nothing. Just pump the music and let us sing.
@@Fourthirteen82 when the pandemic ends you need to go to Queen+Adam Lambert. There's nothing like singing with 50k people. Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Ga Ga, 39' and so on
This is what makes Queen so legendary. It doesn't matter what generation you are, everyone knows Queen. Their music brings the world together. Peace. ❤️✌️
Funfact: During an interview of Brain May, he stated that his solo guitar (at 2:30) was meant as an extension of the vocal, he always hears the solo piece as a part of the vocal and the fact that 65000 people sang the solo guitar part is exactly what he meant.
Literally anything that can be said about this song has already been said a million times, I go back to this video every couple of months and just watch it in awe with shivers all over my body close to tearing up. This is insane
I've always respected Green Day as a band. But them playing BR in intermission and being pleased by the audience's reaction enough to post this shows they're recognizing the shoulders that they stand on. That, to me is awesome.
I've saw a live cover of Bohemian Rhapsody by Panic! at the Disco and goddamn I swear all the sixty thousand people at that place sang this part at the top of their voices. It is chilling just to remember how loud and ethereal that was.
It's kinda funny how you can hear that they even divided themselves up like a real chorus, with some of the higher voices doing the higher parts and the lower voices doing the lower parts.
That's the most interesting thing. When crowds fall into sync like this, they naturally divide themselves into their respective ranges. It's always so amazing to watch.
Adam Sinclair // Fuck off. You’re on a punk band’s page listening to a song written by a gay man who died from aids. If you’re gonna be hateful, go ahead and do it in silence so we can listen to what we came here for. I guarantee that Billie and Freddy would both be disgusted knowing that you’re commenting shit like this.
My daughter graduating from kindergarten in UK had 2 songs from Queen in their ceremony. It's like learning nursery rhymes. This is how important queen, Elton are in life
Holy fuck. Not only is the crowd amazing, but the sun, clouds and sky look simply majestic and I'd like to think Freddie was right there, looking as smug and proud as he should and deserves! What a moment!
There is a vital life lesson not to be missed here: Freddie Mercury was told this song would never be a hit and was too long to play on the radio. You are watching 65,000 people, mostly from a different generation than Queen, sing it in unison, with the harmonies, at a concert for a different band 42 years after it was released... Don't let anyone shit on your dream, darling.
@O F Very true, that is why Queen is all the more iconic. When the odds where against them.. Freddie believed..like you said not an easy accomplishment, However 40 plus years later twenty something's are lovin' it!! Gives me chills.
Imagine if Freddie would've been able to see this, even after 25 years, millions are still singing and enjoying his music with a passion. He would be so happy.
Average age of crowd? 19. Age of Bohemian Rhapsody in 2017? 42 yrs. Thousands of 19yr olds know, by heart, a song that is more than 2x older than them. This is what makes Queen legendary.
This song will be known for centuries. Much like Beethoven and Mozart is today. Queen/Freddy did a very rare thing and wrote a a piece of music that _will_ stand the test of time. They'll still be singing this in the 2500s. I guarantee.
I'm pretty sure the ave age of the crowd is in their late 20's and early 30's.. kids today don't sing nor have this much fun at ANY concert anymore.. they're too busy snapchatting or instafuckingraming it...
The guitarist said, " We went on as a support act, the main act left the stage 11 years before we got there.." An amazing display of humanity.. Well done, all those there..
MJ The G.O.A.T Because the Beatles are the best selling musical artists and the most influential but nearly every rock band after them had more talent than they did.

Queen shall Always LIVE ON as long as we still REMEMBER, that is the Power of the *SUPERBANDS* we Grew Up With unlike the GARBAGE OF TODAY it's Just NOISE. This Song had real Meaning that even Most QUEEN FANS Never really knew that FREDDIE Came from an ISLAMIC COUNTRY & Had to FLEE TO UK with his Parents because he was GAY & HAVING A GAY ENCOUNTER IS ENOUGH TO BE KILLED (Mama Just KILLED a Man, Put a Gun Against his Head Pulled MY TRIGGER Now he's DEAD, Mama, Life had just began, But now I've gone & thrown it all away) you see SODOMY KILLED A MAN & he had to FLEE then (Let Me GO) BISMILLAH [Islamic Blessing to Allah used in HALAL] We will Not let you go, then later BEELZEBUB had a DEVIL put aside for me for me for me, then So you think you can STONE ME & SPIT IN MY EYE So you can LOVE ME & LEAVE ME TO DIE so Freddie was telling Us **ABOUT ISLAMIC THREAT THAT ALMOST KILLED HIM** as it had KILLED HIS LOVER & we would never have Known FREDDIE but instead he left a LEGACY that still Lives DECADES LATER.
One of my very favorite bands has a song that’s almost 23 minutes long. I’m listening to it again right now, because it’s the right time. It’s certainly listenable, but it’s the kind of song that you’d need to listen to at night, shortly before bedtime, as you’re winding down from the day. My favorite song is almost 12 minutes long.
@@seebless They’re both by a Finnish psychedelic rock band called Jess and the Ancient Ones. The 23-minute-long one is from 2015 and it’s called “Goodbye to Virgin Grounds Forever”, and the 12-minute-long one (my favorite one, probably the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard) is from 2012 and it’s called “Come Crimson Death”.
Which was so strange, because even a huge band like Pink Floyd has some songs that are over 20 minutes long. How was a six minute song really that big of a risk?
Proof Freddie Mercury was a siren: 1) Wrote a song considered too long for radio, and over 40 years later the whole world knows it by heart; 2) One person can start singing it, and over 60,000 standing nearby will take it up and sing it all the way through. 3) All you need is just to hear, "Is this the real life . . ." and you find yourself singing it through. Thank you, Freddie. Love to you from all of us down here.

Nah, "Lemmy _is_ god". ;p
That's something that takes a lot of conscious effort to do
music transcends bullshit and hits the soul.
I guess that happens automatically when you have that many people each singing in their own register.
It’s all the practice of singing shine Jesus shine in assemblies
No it isn't.
Rubbish. People tend to sing in their natural register. When you have a large crowd like that, you will get a decent spread of registers, so what do you expect?

Funfact: During an interview of Brain May, he stated that his solo guitar (at 2:30) was meant as an extension of the vocal, he always hears the solo piece as a part of the vocal and the fact that 65000 people sang the solo guitar part is exactly what he meant.
