Absolutely extraordinary music by any means. Only few band of Death metal genre and only in their prime years were as close to the creative dark poetry of a Swedish Cult band NIHILIST!!
saw them before Left had path was released, probably my most loved concert as i'd only heard dubbed versions of these from the tape trading circuit, i've never waited so bad for a debut lp before or since, i wrote them and asked why my favourite track ''Severe Burns'' never made it on the debut, i would of loved to hear LG sing it on an lp

Yes, Nihilist formed in 1987 while the members were still in highschool. I believe the oldest member at the time was 16. So within 2 years, these guys crafted the Gothenburg sound. EDIT: They created the Stockholm sound! This edit comes 5 years since the original post.

i guess so but i'd say this isn't as good as either of those records. This is good, don't get me wrong. Seven churches came out in 85, with scream bloody gore coming out in 87. To me you can't compare. This is good but to me not at the same level as the other two. Plus the fact that by 87 there were about a billion obscure thrash/speed/death metal bands all over the world. Just sayin.

Very raw, tends to sound like a cross of early Death and Discharge. Cool, but I'll take the slightly more refined approach of Entombed and Carnage on most days.
