This is the REAL Entombed. Before the term Death+Roll was even thought of. I was 20 when this came out. Loved it then and love it now. Probably the best Death Metal show I ever saw was Morbid Angel, Entombed, and Cancer at the Marquee New York City September 1991.

What a great vocalist was Petrov, R.I.P., and Entombed is a great death metal band, also Entombed A.D. is a great band, the first three albums of the band are classic death metal albums, thanks for sharing.

I used to think my music influence would change as I age.
It did but, as a drummer, roots are roots.
I remember the day I went to my local record store and bought this album. It was a small record store in a small city in rural Germany. The year was 1990 and I wasn't able to listen to Entombed before buying. I brought it home and put it on...Damn, it left me stoked! Still own the record, still put it on frequently. One of my all-time faves of Death Metal:-).
What you described is exactly what I felt going to Hot topic back in the early 2000’s. When it used to be a store that people were scared of going into. The album was Carnifex’s Hell chose me. The album cover made me buy it and was blown away. I was a young kid and never looked back. Here I am listening to this album on my metal journey.
And yet that resting soul is so black and so festering, that on torment nights even the vulture would flee from it. RIP LG Petrov(1972-2021)
I love how early Death Metal also had some Black Metal-ish sounding parts. The best of both worlds...

Love this so fkn much! I still have the original tape from an overseas holiday I took in 1992 when I was 12 and the CD (which I bought a few years after) NOTHING tops this one. Utterly untouchable 🤘🤘 I definitely can mosh to this forever and ever till my death!!! RIP LG Petrov 🪦😢

Back in 1990 this hit me like a trainwreck
pero qué discazo de la gran puta madre!!!!!
The production on this album is stellar and holds up brilliantly until this day. The teenage nostalgia is all there, but this aging brain can't make much sense of this anymore. Much like Tiamat, the band fucked up big time later on but left some good legacy as remembrance. They were also one of the few bands to play in such low tune.

Saw them back then. Wolverine Blues tour I think it was. Both are sick albums.
My musical taste followed the members of this band. When they were Entombed, I was all about Death Metal (fun fact: all the Metallica fans at Nerd Camp that I played my music to were like blahhh... except for two bands: Entombed and Sepultura). A decade later I discovered the Hellacopters in my "The Stooges and all bands that sounds like them" phase.
But this album is still fucking sweet. Honorable mention to Bolt Throwers' first & second albums.
