Hey guys, there appears to be some confusion based on what I said about Optimized Battery Charging at the start of this video. I recommend leaving Optimized Battery Charging ON to preserve you’re iPhone’s battery heath as much as possible. The only reason I turned it off in this video was to create the most accurate test environment possible for comparing these three charging methods to one another.

People hating on the 5W, but it’s the one that is the best for the iPhone and it’s battery life. It creates less heat and pressure on the battery cells. As he says: When a phone lasts a full day and is only charged over night - it doesn’t matter if it takes 1 hour or 4 hours.

Regarding the impact of the power of the charger on the battery, your conclusion is correct. I have tried to use 20W and 5W for long-term use tests on two XRs. The result is that within 500 charging cycles, the charging power of 20W Caused the battery efficiency to drop from 100% to 92%, while the 5W device only dropped from 100% to 98%, and in daily use I charged before 30% battery remaining

    • @chiwanghui1917
      @chiwanghui1917 3 роки тому +27

After this, I told my friends my conclusion, and they obviously felt that the battery life of the device increased by nearly 15% compared to the 20W charging after charging the device directly with 5W.

"The lower the wattage the better it is for battery health"
Unfortunately, that's not always the case. Depending on battery chemistry, low current charging can cause some unwanted side effects like hard to break structures building up, memory effects, etc. Moreover, very slow charging can mess up with the charging controller and cause improper charging -- either consistently under or overcharging. In both cases this can lead to reduced battery life. The software that is supposed to monitor your battery charging and help prolong battery life can also have trouble working correctly. Do remember that the device, charger and software are all designed and tested for a *normal* user that uses recommended or similar charger.
I think it is always best to follow manufacturer's guidance. It probably is ok to charge at half the current, but I would probably not want to go much lower than that.

MagSafe charger with my iPhone 13 Pro Max and it’s still at 100% battery health. I don’t think wirelessly charging your iPhone degrades the battery that much that you need to worry about using a wired charger instead. Also, I did use the Apple branded 20 watt power adapter with the MagSafe charger. Charging your device up to 80-100% regularly reduces batterylife. IPhones and IPads (don’t know about other Apple devices) have a feature, that reduces the charging speed at 80-90% and again at 90-100 to extend Batterylife. Thats why in the end the 12W catches up to the 20W.

Using an iPhone 11 and I always use the standard 5W charger because I rarely need to fast charge. If I do need to fast charge tho, I either use my 18W Apple Fast Charger or the 20W Anker Nano Pro but that depends entirely on how quickly I need to charge my iPhone before leaving.
However, as of now, I’m trying to make use of Optimized Battery Charging over night to so, like I said, I use my 5W charger 99% of the time, especially at night now

The thing with the 20W is kinda strange, because it said to charge from 0-50% for 30 minutes, and yes he is probably right about the 5W that it is the best option from the 3, at least if you charge your phone overnight. I'm with the 11 pro and I'm using the charger that came with the phone. 1 year and nearly 8 months and I have 91% battery health for a while now. Don't really want to go to the shop and replace it because in my country we don't have an APPLE shop, so yeah, they probably gonna cause more problems with the replacement and the other thing they guarantee would skip the adhesive.

You give a good tips to save the battery's health, but then you're telling me you charge your phone at night... This is the worse part, even with optimized charging. Here's a tip: Charge your phone before going to bed, and leave it unplugged during the night, and plug it back in in the morning, to reach the 100% mark. This is the best way for you to do it. Also, do not let your phone reach 0% charge. Great video, tho! Keep it up!

Wired charging ftw! I mostly use the default 20W Apple charger for my iPad Air 4. I only use a 30W charger occasionally if I need my iPad to get charged fast 👍, but my iPad gets quite a bit warmer when charging at 30W because it uses a much higher voltage of 15V when charging at 30W versus just 9V at 20W. It barely gets warm charging at 20W and it isn’t too slow at 20W either for such a huge battery (54% charge in 1 hour)

If I woke up in the morning and the cable was still attached to the phone, the phone would probably drop to the floor or something else would happen, lol. But then again, I rarely have to wake up early in the morning since I mostly work evening shifts so I have plenty of time to charge the phone before going to work. Very happy to have the 20W charger now that I got my new iPhone Pro Max, it's crazy quick to charge!

iPhone and Samsung don't support super fast charging like 67/80 watt or 120/150 watt or even 200+ watts because it's bad for your battery health especially 200 watt you might be able to use your phone at most 1 year I heard my dad has an iphone 11 he bought in November of 2019 it still gives him enough backup the processor is really good and he has no complaints except the software he never got his battery replaced and it's at 73% battery health both iphones and Samsung don't have ultra fast charging because they are made for longevity but iPhone is better for longevity just compare a Samsung 21 to iphone 12 the iPhone dominates its not even close iPhones have really good hardware but i prefer Android software iphones are really optimised too iPhone 12 has I think 2700-2800 mah battery but it beats some 5000 mah battery phones I mainly want a phone for gaming and my current Android phone works phone for normal games but genshin is on a whole another level it needs a LOT of performance even a sd 8 gen 2 shows overclocked at high settings 30 fps but iPhone 11 and up have high settings 30 fps at default because genshin is really optimised on iPhone it can even run 120 fps which even a pc can't do even a 2.5 yr old iPhone 13 pro can do 120 fps if you play genshin then you know sometimes you need to collect regional specialities which dont show on the map and you gotta go to UA-cam but on Android phones you can split screen and do both at same time but split screen isn't available in iPhone and when you spend more than 30 seconds outside of game, it disconnects i only want an iphone for playing genshin impact and longevity as I'm a kid so i cant afford my own phone the phone I currently use is oppo f23 which costs $250 but my dad decided that he can stretch the budget to $625 because this one doesn't have enough performance and he thinks that instead of buying a budget phone and switching in 2-3 yrs, i can buy a more expensive phone and keep it for 5-6 yrs instead he also has an iphone 11 and i tested the performance and it's really good on 11 but his one has 128 gb storage it has lcd, 720p, doesn't have magsafe and not that good of a battery so I'm thinking I will buy an iphone 13 256gb in sale for about $550 and have enough for adapter and a case
It Will have oled, 2k screen resolution, magsafe and a much bigger battery also iPhone 13 has a15 bionic but 11 has a13 bionic so the a13 might not be a good processor in a few years but a15 definitely will be but magsafe charging is really slow about 4 hrs for 100% battery so I will just use it incase I need a power bank as prefer wireless/magsafe more than wireless charging as it much more convenient but it gets hot quickly and is really slow oh yeah I forgot to mention the sale in October so sadly I have to wait to buy it I was thinking abt buying a12 before but I thought I will just buy a 13 so it lasts longer both in battery and the years I use it but which which one do you prefer iPhone or Android? My cousin used to have an iphone x but he switched to a Samsung galaxy a14 idk why tho maybe because it's newer and everyone else in his family also uses iPhone if I remember correctly his mom uses an iphone 12, his dad uses a13 and his grandma I think 8, 8 plus or something old like that
It would be perfect if I could have split screen and pip on iPhone that's the only thing I don't like about it well that's all idk why I yapped so much

I haven’t got an iPhone but I used to charge my device with the.. supercharger it came with? If that what it’s called. Extremely fast charging... After reading about the effects on the battery’s longevity I switched to a regular type-C brick and almost never charge it over 80-85%. Third year in, battery is holding up incredibly well. Absolutely no complaints.

Most annoying things about using a fast charger on iOS is that when it reaches 80% it automatically slows down the charging speed significantly probably to like 5w so it just takes forever to reach 100 cause there’s no way you can remove the limit so ugh ye

iPhone and Samsung don't support super fast charging like 67/80 watt or 120/150 watt or even 200+ watts because it's bad for your battery health especially 200 watt you might be able to use your phone at most 1 year I heard my dad has an iphone 11 he bought in November of 2019 it still gives him enough backup the processor is really good and he has no complaints except the software he never got his battery replaced and it's at 73% battery health both iphones and Samsung don't have ultra fast charging because they are made for longevity but iPhone is better for longevity just compare a Samsung 21 to iphone 12 the iPhone dominates its not even close iPhones have really good hardware but i prefer Android software iphones are really optimised too iPhone 12 has I think 2700-2800 mah battery but it beats some 5000 mah battery phones I mainly want a phone for gaming and my current Android phone works phone for normal games but genshin is on a whole another level it needs a LOT of performance even a sd 8 gen 2 shows overclocked at high settings 30 fps but iPhone 11 and up have high settings 30 fps at default because genshin is really optimised on iPhone it can even run 120 fps which even a pc can't do even a 2.5 yr old iPhone 13 pro can do 120 fps if you play genshin then you know sometimes you need to collect regional specialities which dont show on the map and you gotta go to UA-cam but on Android phones you can split screen and do both at same time but split screen isn't available in iPhone and when you spend more than 30 seconds outside of game, it disconnects i only want an iphone for playing genshin impact and longevity as I'm a kid so i cant afford my own phone the phone I currently use is oppo f23 which costs $250 but my dad decided that he can stretch the budget to $625 because this one doesn't have enough performance and he thinks that instead of buying a budget phone and switching in 2-3 yrs, i can buy a more expensive phone and keep it for 5-6 yrs instead he also has an iphone 11 and i tested the performance and it's really good on 11 but his one has 128 gb storage it has lcd, 720p, doesn't have magsafe and not that good of a battery so I'm thinking I will buy an iphone 13 256gb in sale for about $550 and have enough for adapter and a case
My cousin used to have an iphone x but he switched to a Samsung galaxy a14 idk why tho maybe because it's newer and everyone else in his family also uses iPhone if I remember correctly his mom uses an iphone 12, his dad uses a13 and his grandma I think 8, 8 plus or something old like that
It would be perfect if I could have split screen and pip on iPhone that's the only thing I don't like about it well that's all idk why I yapped so much lol I have a math exam tomorrow and it's 11:54 pm for me wish me luck

Either go with 5W over night or 20W morning not 12 w .. cuz 12 w makes yu uncomfortable and intermittent charging destroys battery health like crazy. Once you charge full use it till 5% or so then full charge then drain. This is pattern don’t do intermittent charging it’s more danger than fast charging

The best one is the one with the lowest wattage. It creates less heat while changing and stresses the battery cells way less. So it’s the 5 W in that case. If you additionally manage to keep your charge always between 30% and 80%, as well as keeping it away from heat sources - your battery will last forever.
