Andrew I have to give you a round of applause for taking on the challenge despite feeling groggy at the start. What an example of not waiting to feel inspired or ready to paint. So glad to hear your comments about wanting to become looser. The super detailed paintings that you paint always catch your eye for a moment but they lose interest in no time at all because there’s nothing left to the imagination for the eye. At one point I gave up watching your videos due to the tiny little millimeter by millimeter details you add. That is the work of cameras and people who copy photographs rather than create art. I’ve been absolutely amazed at how many times I have been painting, did not like what I was seeing, and in resignation before wiping it off take a few what the f brushstrokes or a few strong wiping off strokes to remove what I did and find that it instantly looks better and more interesting. The more careful I am the worse it looks. It seems the hardest thing to do is to let those happy accidents happen while still staying in control. Yet I think it I s essential a values, simplifying , and composition. I hope you continue on this path of painting looser as it will take you to a new level of quality or truly great art.
I am learning how to digital paint but following the guidance of oil painters on YT like yourself. So far 1.5 years of experience. I think I am progressing well. However, I am nowhere near what you can do on photoshop lol. Maybe in my third year. I made leaps in my digital painting skills implementing info from YTbers like yourself. However, when I got to a certain point, I finally sat down and started to learn about the fundamentals. Then my skills jumped again. It was like bridging the gap on what was off about my painting. I like watching videos like these and trying to implement something I saw in it into my own painting process.99% of the time I flop hard when I try it for the first time. I stayed up 24 hours trying to fix my painting the second time I tried painting. I tried everything but could not solve it. The next day I recorded myself digital painting the same thing and it came out far better. It then took me a week to really find out why the problem occurred. It was new painter mistake #1 going straight to the details before the foundation is fully formed. So I started to go on YT seeing how various artists started their paintings. I won't lie to you the way you paint I can understand, but it annoys the hell out of me. I don't have enough skill and knowledge to pull that off yet lol.

I am amazed at how much you achieved and so impressed with you talent. I do own a number of your DVD’s which are brilliant. I have painted for 24hrs to complete work for an exhibition in pastel, put it in a frame then drove for 45 minutes to deliver it with no coffee at all. I learnt a lot from doing it. I fiddled a lot and put heaps of detail in the focal point/subject finding I had very little time left to do the background. I was determined to get it finished so had to change the way I normally worked. It was a double portrait. Speed painting the background taught me so much and I totally surprised myself, forcing me to leave out detail. I was so elated with the results I felt wide awake and full of energy. Cheers Pat Barry
Wow...an amazing display of stamina and skill! Can't even imagine being in "the creative zone" for that length of time. Love the way you manipulated the paint with your brush so effectively in such broad, quick strokes!
I’ve had artist block for awhile now, I had a near death experience and since then I haven’t touched my paints and can’t seem to get out of this artist block.. started looking at landscape painting and found your video. Love how realistic your paintings are, your work is incredible! ❤

This was an demanding challenge you gave yourself and the phycology behind it quite interesting. I can see where you were coming from and think you quite clever. The painting is, as always, breathtaking…..but I know that only means something if you feel that way about it. As a painter, I too struggle with how I see my work. That was amazing! The painting is already phenomenal you are an artistic genius! Thanks for doing this and sharing! I love everything about it! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
You are by far sir my favorite artist! Because of you I transitioned from acrylics to oils. And thank you for that. You have opened up my horizon by allowing me to understand, with hard work, anyone, with in reason of course, can oil paint. Blessings and the Merriest of Christmas to you and your family.
We want to see how you continue/d with that painting! Wow, got us so excited, cant wait to see how the block-in is done and how you go on after that. Thanks in advance from Israel!
Love this video, and gives us mere mortals comfort that even masters can get artist block or funk! A fun challenge in good humour with the usual great narration through the progress
Thanks so much. I appreciate it. Although I am far from master level, I try to keep the edge sharp. Sometimes though I succumb to outside pressure and on the odd occasion this results in the artist block - it's very very rare. I have my ways of getting out of it though! Thanks so much Mike 🙏
Wowow.. 2.5 M x 1.5M canvas with that NOT SO BIG brush for 24 hours.. LOLOL... OMG... And it is ANOTHER ENJOYMENT to see a professional landscape painter's studio, the instruments, the tools, the painting procedures, and skills. Very good space for painting when you want to zoom in and out with a distance for your works. Hmmm.... Being a professional painter isn't an easy job at all but I saw your perfect pitches on painting from the themes, mountains, animals to the land. VERY IMPRESSIVE.
I felt your struggle. Literally. I did not set out to do a challenge, but I had to complete a commission on a certain day, and that meant staying up all night. Mine was not a 24hour, but a 36hour ordeal. One thing I have to agree on is that 2-3am time slot when I thought I couldn’t make it, then all of a sudden I got a burst of energy and was able to complete the commission. Not something I recommend, but as most artists will say, deadlines help us complete out projects. I can’t wait to see the end results of this painting!
Andrew, I can't figure out why you'd want to paint under time pressure. You have developed an amazing amount of skill and that's all you need..not to paint in a certain amount of time. You are a marvelous painter!
You're the only person to inspire me since Bob Ross. Take that how you want but bob inspired me as a child. Your dedication, organization, quality and personality inspire me as an adult. Edit: plus your painting are insane it just sucks how expensive painting like this can be. Thanks.
Your painting is amazing. When you just started doing the sky I was blown away and it really set in with the mountains and just continued as you went to the end. Fantastic work! Glad you made it through the challenge.
Nice work! My instincts were saying, "Grab a 3 inch brush!" 😊 I enjoyed watching your journey and hearing your thoughts. Congratulations on the baby, and Merry Christmas to you all !!!
Andrew, this painting is enormous and also very beautiful. My very first piece of artwork that I ever did was a challenge as well, time constraint happened naturally, due to it being a Christmas present and I worked on it for 24 hours straight, however it seemed like 24 minutes! I probably started on it the day before Christmas Eve! It was very small only 11X 14 but I finished it! I was very proud of myself. I know, it’s no comparison to what you’ve done here but I was very proud, being it was my absolute first piece. I was able to have it framed and wrapped and gave it to my mom for Christmas, everyone was super amazed that I had created it! You Sir, have accomplished a massive painting in only 24 hours! It’s quite astonishing to me and I’m sure everyone else what a monumental task this was! The fact you had gotten so far on this challenge in 24 hours is shocking to me! Not to mention the shear scale, beauty and detail the piece has. WOW, awesome work! I love horses and yours are done so well, just gorgeous. They certainly look anatomically correct which is a very difficult challenge in itself, their setting is just perfection! This painting is magnificent, which is an understatement!
Was für eine Herausforderung und was für ein tolles Ergebnis. Meinen Respekt für diese großartige Leistung. Alles Gute für die Zukunft und viele Grüße aus Deutschland.
Hey Andrew, have you ever thought of an abstract art challenge? Ive always been curious to see how a classical painter would approach abstraction. Love you channel!
Think we all benefit from a little pressure.(wow 24 hours at the easel though).l liked the way you found your grove and ways to become more economical with laying down your colours.Awesome work 👍
Next challenge: Do artwork that gets you into court! I reckon some scene with important New Zealand politicians snorting coke with Pablo Escobar. As a muralpainting in a school where you've been assigned to do some harmless stuff and you've presented a sketch of something completely different.
You are such a joy to follow, I loved watching this video🎞 ( and how you put it together , music so appropriate too 👍) I have watched it a second time now, always in awe of your wonderful skills! 🎨 Your ''heros'' are also artists that I also appreciate, and I do love a lot of Peder Mørk Mønsted art work as well. You inspire so many, and keeps me wanting to better myself constantly, so, many, many thanks again to you Andrew.♥( A bear hug for Hugo🧸xx)

I don't know what in the world made you want to do such a challenge. LOL thank you for bringing us alone. Really enjoy saying you work on this one for sure. Love the composition of the horses. Thank you again for sharing your experience with all of us.

Happy Christmas and thanks for your awesome self-challenge video.. I LOVE your dagger Rosemary brushes all the tips and techniques you so generously give out. I wish you tremendous success and happiness!
I'm only halfway through your video and this is quite amazing. I was given a photo of a "modern day," Montana cattle drive by a total stranger I had a conversation with at a local festival. I got very excited and already had this huge canvas. Probably as wide as yours but taller. I got the composition sketched in and was into the painting. Never having done one this large, I had not taken the physicality of the whole thing into consideration. I have put it aside but really want to finish it. This has given me inspiration - though I won't even pretend that I am going attempt in a 24 hour period. Kudos to you! Also, I am always the one who overestimates my ability vs progress while my best friend is just the opposite and she is always right! haha. I feel your pain.
If you ever decide to quit your day job, you could become a comedian! Made me laugh on several occasions. You are my favorite artist and as a beginner myself, I've learned so much from your tutorials. I especially love horses and this painting is going to be magnificent just like all your paintings! Thank you so much for gifting us with your talent.
Nicely done, congrats! You are an amazing artist! Another beautiful piece of art. Loved your "warning" at start, and found the video really entertaining and funny. And of course WOW, beautiful, beautiful painting. When you had only the sky done. it looked like your picture was torn, hanging over a window and the sky was showing through. The whole piece at any stage could have passed as finished art. The other amazing thing is you did all that art in just 24 hours, that is amazing.
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED..... maybe.

Well done on your challenge! You`r not just an amazing artist... A very very good teacher too!
We want another challenge 👍🏻
You are an amazing painter
That was amazing!!! Always a pleasure watching you paint!
Thank you so much 😀
Maybe in another life time and I'll live in a huge home I'll own on of his awesome paintings. You the best Andrew Tischler.
Glad you made it through the challenge.
absolutely unreal. very inspiring to a student artist!
Congratulations Andrew. I was surprised you chose such a large painting, but what an incredibly beautiful painting it is.
Nice work! My instincts were saying, "Grab a 3 inch brush!" 😊 I enjoyed watching your journey and hearing your thoughts. Congratulations on the baby, and Merry Christmas to you all !!!
The brush strokes are what evokes the illusion of detail, so I think using a large brush would have been a mistake.
Alles Gute für die Zukunft und viele Grüße aus Deutschland.
well done for pushing on and challenging yourself, good project,
Hey Andrew, have you ever thought of an abstract art challenge? Ive always been curious to see how a classical painter would approach abstraction. Love you channel!
Another amazing piece Andrew but enjoy the process, no need to beat yourself up bro😉!
Absolutely stunning!!
Think we all benefit from a little pressure.(wow 24 hours at the easel though).l liked the way you found your grove and ways to become more economical with laying down your colours.Awesome work 👍
Insane, but loved this challenge. Well done Andrew 😍😍😍
Next challenge: Do artwork that gets you into court! I reckon some scene with important New Zealand politicians snorting coke with Pablo Escobar. As a muralpainting in a school where you've been assigned to do some harmless stuff and you've presented a sketch of something completely different.
3:25 Andrew you are a professional sacrifice
You are such a joy to follow, I loved watching this video🎞 ( and how you put it together , music so appropriate too 👍) I have watched it a second time now, always in awe of your wonderful skills! 🎨 Your ''heros'' are also artists that I also appreciate, and I do love a lot of Peder Mørk Mønsted art work as well. You inspire so many, and keeps me wanting to better myself constantly, so, many, many thanks again to you Andrew.♥( A bear hug for Hugo🧸xx)
Monsted is one of my favourites! Thanks so much Karen, I hope you have a great Christmas, thanks for your continued support. 🙏
@@AndrewTischlerArt Thank you for your reply, cool that you like Monsted too😊 I'll be spending this Christmas alone as the friends I was going to are down with Covid... ( one of them) and today have a funeral to go to as my dear (old) neighbor passed this week... ah but what a blessing to have a home, my cat and my paints! I'll do just fine .. God is good! 🙏⚘☝️🇳🇱
@@Bubleone1 👍👍
Andrew, you're crazy - but your stamina is truly impressive. I loved watching this ordeal, and the painting is looking gorgeous!!
So enjoyed seeing this come together Andrew! Thank you. Happy Xmas and happy days in new domicile!🤗🤗🤗🎄
Thanks so much Jenny!
Omg. This brings me back to my early days. I used to think pulling all nighters was some kind of badge of honor but would always spend those last couple hours burnt, staring off into nothingness
Andrew I really love your paintings.
I don't know what in the world made you want to do such a challenge. LOL thank you for bringing us alone. Really enjoy saying you work on this one for sure. Love the composition of the horses. You nailed it! Absolutely breathtaking like gorgeous! The only one thing wrong with it, I wasn't there in person. LOL. By the way , congratulations.
That’s a serious studio man! Beautiful work
What a challenge! agree, a silly one, but man! the painting is beautiful!
That is so cool to paint for 24 hours straight
Well done Andrew... as always!
Thank you for sharing your creative journey with your videos - i love them!
This is sooo amazing! Beautiful artwork, I Absolutely love it!!! 👏👏👏
I totally loved it! Thank you for motivating me to keep going with my paintings.
I'm so glad! Thanks for being here and thanks for the kind feedback. 🙏
@@AndrewTischlerArt I am a painter of the wild horses of North America. I love so much that you are showing videos painting horses and how you went out to capture their photographs. Last summer, I was blessed to go to Wyoming to do the same. There is nothing that can compare to the experience of being in the presence of such beauty. Thank you again for sharing your experience with all of us.
48 hour challenge up next! Lol
That was quite entertaining. When you started laughing at your own comments near the end, you definitely lost it a little bit lol
It was a real challenge, your quite a challenger....Bravo👋👋👋👋👋👋👋
Happy Christmas and thanks for your awesome self-challenge video.. I LOVE your dagger Rosemary brushes all the tips and techniques you so generously give out. I wish you tremendous success and happiness!
Rosemary are the best! I love them. Nice people too! 🙏
Way to go Andrew! You did it! Awesome job!
Wasn't sure which would fill in first, the painting or the beard. Love the channel!
Wow, just wow! Hope to see the finished painting soon. Happy Holidays!
Wow...very nice...I like it all especially the mountains...the horse so far...can't wait to see the finished painting!!!
you are an absolute ..............HERO sir . great!!!!!!!!!!! After watching this video I am literally astonished. Shocked!!!!!!!!!!1
Thanks so much. I appreciate it! 🙏 Glad you like my stupid sense of humour too. 😂
Best wishes to you sir… you are an inspiration for many artist in this world. Thank you for making such videos. 🙏🏻
Wow! Very impressive detail on the "block in" process 👏 👏👏
It’s beautiful!!! 🎄🎄Thank you for sharing your skill and talent with us!
J'admire la facilité que vous avez pour peindre, et la manière que vous tenez votre pinceau.
Respect for passing through this challenge. That must have been really difficult. 😆
