    🥁Drummer Yoyoka’s Profile🥁
Born in October 2009, she started playing drums at the age of two, played live at four, and formed her family band "Kaneaiyoyoka" at five. At 6 years old, she even released her first CD while in kindergarten.
In addition to drums, Yoyoka sings vocals, plays the piano and is a songwriter. In 2018, at the age of 8, she became the youngest weekly champion in the under-18 category of the international female drummer contest "Hit Like A Girl".
Her application video, a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Good Times Bad Times" was featured on NBC, NPR, in Rolling Stone Magazine and in Billboard and then spread all over the world.
Her drumming prowess has been praised by music legends such as Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Sheryl Crow, Gene Simmons and Eric Singer (KISS), Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth), Hayley Williams (Paramore), Sass Jordan, Tony Royster Jr., Brad Wilk (Rage Against the Machine) , Derrick McKenzie (Jamiroquai).
At the age of eight, Yoyoka appeared in Japan's famous rock festival "RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL in EZO" as the youngest performer ever and made a surprise appearance on the stage of Fall Out Boy in "Summer Sonic Tokyo" in front of an audience of 20,000. Later, she was the guest drummer for two songs of Cyndi Lauper’s performance at Tokyo Orchard Hall, the last day of her Japan tour.
Yoyoka is endorsed by world-class brands such as Nike, Moncler, and UNIQLO, filming well-received commercials in Thailand and New York. At the age of eight, she became the youngest drummer ever to sign an endorsement contract with drum makers Pearl and VIC FIRTH, and has since then also signed with Zildjian, CYMPAD and DW.
She made two appearances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in LA in January and May 2019 where she was praised by Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters, and later on had a successful live house at the legendary "Whisky A Go Go".
In April 2019, she was selected as one of Newsweek Japan’s "100 Japanese people respected by the world", the youngest in history.
Pearl showcased her talent the 2020 NAMM show in Anaheim the world’s largest musical instruments trade show. She was the youngest female and only Japanese drummer to appear.
The impact of "Yoyoka" continues to spread worldwide. Her favorite drummers are John Henry Bonham, Chris Coleman, Nate Smith, Chad Smith and David Grohl. Her dream is to travel and play sessions with people all over the world. She is also hoping to preform in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.

Good drummers are a dime a dozen. The truly immortal ones are the ones who look awesome doing it. Their craft is effortless and their personality shines through. I hope Yoyoka continues to love what she's doing, and doesn't feel too pressured by what the world begins to expect of her. Because she is exactly the type of medicine our world needs!

À top drummer playing with slippers on deserve a gold medal for such dedication in music and not care about the decorum usually connected with musical performance. So far, yoyo has no rival in her field, be technically or creatively, and has a personality few can claim to have in the world of music. Great artists have a totally independent mind, Yoyoka has shown already that she has this quality, so be it as it is a gift to humanity. Salute from France and Australia.

Especially in pop songs, and ones with a "name" singer (like Peter Gabriel), I think they really downplay the drums, or even any instrument that the "name" isn't playing. They probably don't want the "name" to be overshadowed. But I agree she has made a lot of songs better.

I never cared for this song until now. Yoyoka injects life into whatever she plays. Phenomenal...I especially loved the little fills around 2:40 - 2:50 subtle yet perfect

Ok, besides the fact Yoyoka is so young, as a guitar player it's hard for me to wrap around my little pointed head she can have 2 feet/legs and 2 arms/hands all doing different things at the same time. I'm used to all my fingers and hands all working together basically doing the same thing at the same time. So, throw in that this magnificent musician can manage all that and happens to be 11 years old is frankly magic to my old brain. AND A BIG SMILE TOO!!!!!

To be honest, Yoyoka hasn't been progressing as much as she should in the last few years. She used to be the best of her age, but not anymore. She's limited by the complexity of the genre of music she plays and needs more exposure to more advanced genre such as Prog and Jazz

@@kurtisle She's great, but she can be better if she doesn't limit herself to the current genre's she's playing. When Yoyoka was 7, she was probably the best drummer of age. She's still very good now, but not as far ahead of the game as she used to be. Which means that her progress is not as fast as it should be.

@@KevinLuWX Or, she loves the music she plays, so she’s much more likely to keep playing, because she enjoys it. Maybe she hates jazz, in which case, she wouldn’t have the passion to play if forced to go down that road. Also, people improve exponentially when starting out in any skill. As they get really good, progress slows down,. A lot of people are good drummers, less are great, and only a few become epic. To climb that last part of the mountain is the hardest, even though it’s the shortest part, because it’s the steepest. Lastly, IMO,, she’s so young that burnout becomes a real possibility. Maybe she practices less and does things other kids her age are doing, which isn’t a bad thing. In any case, sniping critical comments at a child on the internet isn’t a good look. She looks like she loves it and is probably a better drummer than anyone in the comments section, otherwise we’d be watching their videos instead of hers.

@@KevinLuWX She likes what she likes. Her parents do not push her to a specific genres. She did the jazzy thing when she was 7 years old with one song that was posted. She said she likes Rock songs. She is getting into other genres and is being exposed to them. She can bang those drum kits and she can finesses them also like on this song. She is showing Dynamic sounds to us. She has that ability to make the songs better too. As she is getting older, she is learning harder songs and is already proficient at them. She is already ahead of the curve. It seems she is learning all the time. That is a good thing.
