I don't usually comment, but I have been following Yoyoka, and you, Wave, for a couple of years. ( I should call myself "Lurker"!) I am moved to comment this time because you have outdone yourself Wave. I am a rabid fan, a silent part of the "Yoyoka Army", and you have masterfully captured the essence of her career. I expect I will be watching it over and over! Thank you a thousand times for the number of times I expect I will be watching this in the future!

@@Glen.Black. Thank you Glen for your contribution to this epic overview of Yoyoka's talent. She helped me get thru the dark covid times with daily injections of joy. Strangely, I spent the classic rock years paying attention to the lead guitar - no interest in drums - I guess I am a convert now...

This particularly interests me as I was very early ground floor rock music in Japan. I was in the Navy in Japan in the very early nineteen sixties. I am a drummer still rocking pushing 80 yrs old. We formed a rock band and were very much in demand where ever we went. Rock music in Japan was very rare back then. We played in many clubs, resorts, etc. We had a blast. Loved the Japanese people and culture. What a great documentary. Amazing drummer and amazing documentation. Thanks. Japan and music definitely go together. Great musicians of all genres .

Yoyoka is currently my favorite musician in the world. How she doesn't have millions of subscribers is baffling to me. What a great and informative tribute to her career in progress. Seeing the tiny tot version of this drumming powerhouse brought tears to my eyes. I know that she'll go on to do greater and greater things but already miss that little tyke as we first met her. ... no, thank YOU, Wave. This is brilliant and for me much awaited. I have craved to learn more about Yoyo-san and her extraordinary family. After all when you experience genius it opens your mind to all kinds of possibilities. The first Yoyoka video I watched (about 4-5 years ago) I went in search of because I had found the and watched the DJ+Robert Plant video... which without reservation - blew my tiny mind. I was hook, right then and there. Sitting there in my mundane life it was crystal clear to me - this kid is special. And the thing that nailed it for me was that she was having such a good time. I was like ...wOAH! look out this one is going to leave a mark. And yeah ... watching her broaden her skills and seeing the person she was becoming, was a tremendous privilege.
Thank you so much for this Wave Potter. You put a smile on my face a mile wide, just like Yoyo-san does. And that is a good thing.

Her talent seemed to explode after the Purdie Shuffle Toto cover. Most drummers I know mention how difficult that song is due to the complexity and dexterity required with every limb playing virtually a different rhythm pattern. But it's not just her ability to play complex patterns that's impressive, it's her maturity in playing what is right for the song not just every fill she knows. She is truly a one-in-a-million talent.
    Well done Wave, as always.

She has that special something - that musicality and feel that cannot be taught, plus the amazing skills she has developed through her immense body of work. Her latest instrumental composition Sparkling? is nothing short of amazing. When she does a Led Zep cover or any other band’s cover she totally breathes the character of the music and drummer - it is astonishing. I’ve been a fan for years and will be a lifelong fan.

Hello Wave (and Glen). That was a truly excellent and heartfelt Yoyokamentary. I wish I had the financial ability to support more musicians but I focus all my available $ on Yoyoka now. You allude to Yoyoka's charm beyond her musical prowess, However, if you ever amend this video, many of us fans realize that she kept us sane over the last couple of years. She has been the most influential person in my own mental health struggles and as I have stated before, inspired me to take up the drums. There is not a day now that passes where I don't listen to several Yoyoka tunes. I thought I had scoured the entire Internet for all Yoyoka content, but you have some real gems in your video! Hey Rob, focusing all avail $$ on YOYOKA makes you a great person in my book! It's kind of like saying "if someone likes animals they can't be all bad." I hope that came across in a positive way! Not comparing you to others that YOYOKA has helped, but you made a great point. I've even seen a few comments of people saying they were almost suicidal until they came across this little wonder. She may not cure everyone, but she definitely cures some, and helps a whole lot of others out beyond belief. And for those that don't need any help. she puts a big ass smile on their face! We all need the type of help this little lady provides to the world! We need to give her a Nobel Peace Prize. She crosses all barriers. Glad she inspired you to take up drums as well. She has been know to have the opposite effect on some, as in, "I've been playing drums for 30 years, why do I even play when a 12 y.o. blows me away like nobody's business!" LOL And you are welcome (for my little part) in WAVE's awesome production. He's the best!

@@Glen.Black. I have noticed how others with much less talent are promoted because they lend themselves to being used as political pawns. I think the term "sellout" refers to this. I do not see this as a route that Yoyoka or the Soma's would take to advance their musical careers. If they stay the course, I think many great new original songs will be the result, as opposed to Nickelback 2.0.

What can one say, Wave and Glen, for framing that portrait of technique and feel in such a wonderful video. It was packed full of Yoyoka history - all 12 years of it - as well as it being super entertaining. It was amazing to see two worlds collide when Yoyoka had the opportunity to visit you and you both got to play together. Two keepers of the sticks of difference cultures, ages and genders, and opposite ends of the world, sharing the same passion and creating a beautiful session. Thanks. It was a pleasure to watch.

Great job Wave and Glen! I meant to just watch a little of this, but ended up watching the whole thing because it was fascinating, well organized and well delivered. I am sure if I was a drummer, this would have been even more interesting.

When adults think a kid is "pretty good" at something, they will exaggerate a little bit to make them feel better. She isn't getting accolades because of those reasons. This girl is mind blowingly talented. She is really THAT good.
I'd love to see her do something off Tool's Fear Inoculum. If she can keep pace with Danny Carey, that'd really say something.

Beautiful job you did Wave. I especially liked the parts where it was obvious you were speaking from your heart based on your knowledge of Yoyoka and her music then later on having interacted with her and her family. It seemed at least half the video was in that emotional grateful style of yours which was very moving to hear and watch.
Glenn Black thanks for getting the 10 pages of notes to Wave to get this fantastic tribute documentary rolling. And Wave is right , you guys do extremely well together in your symbiotic Half Brain modes.
This effort was amazing from start to finish and an absolute joy to watch and take in. Beautiful👍👍👍👍🌄

Glad you loved it! Wave offered me half off as an avid $$ supporter of his channel, but I insisted on paying full price. I will follow up by paying double, he worked SO HARD ON THIS, he deserves it. Like you said, it was a labor of love (for both of us)! It took me a couple of afternoons to put together the notes (ideas). I gave him full free reign because I knew he could honor her in the manner she deserves! When I contacted him with the initial idea, I knew he couldn't refuse. YOYOKA has a permanent place in his heart. That place would have been there even if he didn't get to meet her! He's just a nice, sincere guy! Hard to find!

Thank you for putting this video together, it was a BIG hit and I like the way you present her...excellent. I'm a sub to Yoyoka, love to watch her play, watched 250+ of her videos, some 20-30 times . Major credit to her mom and dad, they are parents of the decade IMO. Your reaction to Sparkling was a great inside into just how technical and musically talented Yoyoka is. I look forward to anything she puts out and hope one day soon I get to go to a concert where she is performing.

_Responding to Wave and Glen:_ Thank you both! Glen and You have created a very wonderful Yoyoka retrospective. She is so prolific and eclectic, there's plenty to fill a documentary. It seems a little crazy to even _consider_ making a retrospective for a 12yo. Yet you two are fully justified! 🤔😃 I'll use links to this to encourage every YT channel who reacts to Yoyoka! 👍 I hope your Documentary helps her get more of the recognition she truly deserves. 👏
So, once again, Thanks to You, Glen and Rosie. ☮️

Thanks for your kind comments G Bulmer. I'm sure Wave had difficulty keeping it down to 31 Minutes. I'm glad we got our point across. I know that all of her fans feel the same exact way Wave and I do! She has done more in 12 years than most of us have in a lifetime! She deserves every bit of recognition she gets from this video. I used to go on and on about her accomplishments, now I just have to refer to this video, until 3 months from now when she has enough material to make another....LOL

Wonderful job Wave and Glen Black 👏. Your video is a great tribute to her immense talent, work ethic and her loving, supportive, nurturing family. Your history 'collage' of her progress is outstanding. Now there is something to post on YT Yoyoka reactions to help viewers appreciate her and her family. Fabulous job, Sirs. 👍👍 I only found Yoyoka in 2020 during lockdown. She drummed away negativity and radiated joy. Hopefully the FDA will certify her as the most effective 'cheer-me-up' known! 😃

I've been following Yoyoka's progression for a few years. What impressed me the most, beyond the fact that she's obviously a naturally gifted drummer, are the she energy and happiness that she brings to her performances, as well as the fact that she really understands the music that she's playing. She's not just mimicking what she hears, she actually gets it! It's a trait that separates mere musicians from virtuoso entertainers. Her genius flows far beyond the music that she loves to create, play and perform. She's going to branch out beyond the music industry, because there's obviously a fire that's been lit inside her, which will burn very brightly when she hits her peak.
On top of everything, who can resist that smile? ☺
