We get a great original Xbox HDMI solution at last, it's just a shame they are almost impossible to get. Microsoft give this guy that's keeping your legacy alive some backing and mass produce these cables.... Lol.
A powered HDMI Splitter also acts as a signal booster btw. From console to TV my HDMI length with all my accessories like these is 26ft. Before the Splitter I got a grainy signal that would cut in an out. It fixed it.
Adam Koralik From consoles like the OG Xbox I’m using Pound (without power) plus 6’ HDMI>HDMI Splitter>mClassic (even without)>PIP Box (also even without)>AVerMedia LGP2>TV with a 20’ HDMI Cable. Total is about 28’ HDMI with all those. I say “without” in some of those things because my setup will work with or without them. I’ve owned the splitter first and that solved my signal grain and drop out issues. So I know it’s not the mClassic or the PIP Box or the combo because it will works without those in the mix. I also don’t buy high dollar HDMI Cables. I only deal with 1080p/60fps anyways.
I had been wanting to buy this adapter for a while now. But like you said they are hard to get. I ended pre-ordering the XboxHDMI because they were $20 off. They start shipping in a few days. I'm excited to see how a real digital output will look.
There's an official Microsoft version of the AV Pack that's the component cables instead of a box with RCA Inputs, which is what I have. They cost about the same and have the exact same features as the Box version of the AV Pack. Having both component video and optical/digital audio out. It's really up to personal preference. The cables are slightly cheaper than the box by virtue of not having to buy separate cables to go with the box, however, it's easier to replace faulty cables with the box.
Couldn't find an hdmi adapter that gave an interference free image on my Xbox..tried them all. Finally i got my hands on the Kaico adapter and it worked with no interference for me :)
Forget the HDMI cables those will come and go and get better of coarse, but I am drooling over the blue Canadian transparent Xbox, I haven’t found any in a decent shape for years, that would look nice next to my Christmas seaman Dreamcast, nice video Adam, please keep me coming..... be safe my friend
15:45 "they don't make [15-port] HDMI switchboxes" Somebody needs to make a *64-in 2-out HDMI matrix with HDCP-handshaking/stripping capabilities that are good for up to 16K resolutions* to futureproof setups for gamers and streamers
I just went through a house fire and unfortunately, my Xbox collection was trashed. So many memories with both that and my Dreamcast. I need to start rebuilding my Xbox library; and your videos are always stellar. Thanks for them. I'm Canadian, and that console colour brings back some wicked cool memories -- Fusion Frenzy was such a stupid game, but absorbed my life. Lmfao. Have you considered looking into the SSD mods at all? Stay safe Adam!
@@AdamKoralik Personally, I'm glad you reviewed this product because I don't like the idea of hardmodding a board into my Xbox. I'm not a purist by any means, but I'm very fond of the way the traditional Xbox dashboard looks. I'm glad this product is a tremendous option.
Quite right about PAL consoles Adam. It is technicly 576i, component cable works but without hd support. Hopefuly xbox region is software based so when you mod your system you are able to switch the region with no problem
By the way I have a whole bunch of xboxes, everything from 1.0s up to 1.6s, people hate on the last xboxes released but their video quality is really solid, suffering much less from the wavy/fuzzy issues that develop as the capacitors go bad on the older models. Also the issues around certain games (e.g panzer dragoon orta) have been patched in the latest softmods.
I love my original xbox and all the sixth generation consoles for that matter. I have all my older systems hooked up either via component, RGB, or VGA (dreamcast) so the OSSC Pro is going to be the ideal solution for me. I hope it gets released soon and addresses all the shortcomings of the original and the Framemeister as well.
I might look into this. At the moment, I'm using gold plated component cable that passes through to my Elgato HD on my Samsung F5000, which its Dynamic Contrast setting makes Xbox games look so much better.
You may have kind of answered this question but were just holding the old version. How does the Chimeric compare to the AV Pack running through the Retrotink Multiformat? The new version is supposed run 480p+ far better.
Damn he said the monster component cables are rare and expensive and I ended up getting them when I bought a box that had a ps2 with controller and games and a modded og xbox with two controllers, a dvd player and a bunch of xbox 360 games for 20 bucks
A company named Monoprice use to carry an 8 port HDMI switch box that I currently use but they seem to not have it listed anymore. I would contact them to see if they still offer it. I've used it since 2013 and it's incredible.
Hey Adam I see your videos on this a lot and I keep forgetting to mention something; another way to get HD out of your Original Xbox in the modding community that I'm apart of, is to solder brand new Microsoft Xbox 360 component cables to the Original Xbox input. Kinda like giving a barbie a new head. And I've been using it and it's really good.
A year ago I was lucky to get a v1.6 complete in box(NCAA Football 2005 / Top Spin) with two slim controllers with a OEM component cable($70 value) for $60 on craigslist!
Adam, You should really consider getting a proper 5.1 Dolby set up for your video game consoles that actually support it. Also an AV receiver can double as a good HDMI switch box To me sound It's just as important as the video quality. Another amazing video though even though I've seen it many times lol.
Is this business still operational? Just went to the website and it says they're on vacation and all orders will ship in May. It's currently June and the storefront is still closed.
Still waiting for mine to come in going on almost 2 months waiting time just so anyone was wondering I think It's one person making them, I was one of the first to pre order and there was about 400 plus left, so I wouldn't be surprised if it takes 3 months
I have a MakeMhz hdmi coming soon (the one you mentioned). $60 (for pre-order) now it is $80. Hard wired solution, and it should be good. Adam, you gotta give soldering a try, there is so much more you can show if you learn.
@@AdamKoralik have you tried turning widescreen on and using the mclassic? Does it actually make the image come out of the squished 4:3 to a full 16:9?
A trick to chain HDMI switches is to use an HDMI splitter. A lot cheaper than spare mClassics. Monoprice does carry 8x1 HDMI switches. Been tempted to get one myself.
I have same looking BitFunx HDMI adapter as that KAICO one. Looks literally the same, just with green trim and BitFunx logo printed on. It has the same issue with picture "tearing", but the bigger problem I found is that left and right audio channel is mixed up on mine. Not sure if KAICO one has the same issue. Right now I have spliced 360 component cable with OG Xbox connector. I'm waiting to build a custom scaler solution with GBS-8200 and custom firmware mod. Thanks for video Adam. Had good time watching it.
@@AdamKoralik ok. As I said it does a fine job, though looking at this again it seems the chimeric one supports surround sound and now I'm wondering if I should add this to my mod order
My chimeric adapter runs through 2 hdmi switchers (one is a 17 port hdmi switch that isn't made anymore), an HDMI box for the led lights behind my TV (dreamscreen), and an mclassic and I never had an issue with it. It must be certain HDMI switchers that effect it.
It's funny, because I've been to my local Goodwill's quite often, and the only consoles I usually see are OG Xboxes. And that's cool because they were the best of that generation imo (and I grew up with GameCube). But as an adult trying to collect older games and consoles, It also kinda sucks, because when I was younger I'd go with my Dad or Mom, and I'd see PS2's and GameCubes every time. Now all I see are the occasional controllers for them. Such is life though. Right now I'm getting ready to hard mod my OG 1.6 v Xbox, and I'm excited. Btw, the Hot Wheels comparison was right on point
You should look into the hauppauge rocket. It has native component input and hdmi output. I've never seen anyone talk about whether it degrades image quality at all since its a budget capture card. But I'd be interested to see if as a secondary use it's a decent component to hdmi converter.
Nobody ever answered my question about the Xbox. Does it BY NATURE (before cables or anything) output in RGB like every console does with the N64 being the closest to an exception? Then again RGB scart cables exist for the Xbox so it has to be RGB. The reason why I ask is because MakeMHZ HDMI mod defaults to YUV 444. I don't want that, the Chimeric Systems will display RGB from the Xbox if that's what the Xbox does by nature. The Xbox's DAC is so good that all you can see is each 480p pixel slightly softened so I will go for Chimeric Systems if there's an RGB difference. I'll get RGB if possible, unless YUV 444 is the only option then I would have no choice but to pick MakeMHZ.
Official Microsoft Xbox component cable (not HD pack) to OSSC (via a gcompsw) is the setup I'm using and it looks AMAZING. If you're using one or two consoles I can see these plug and play cables, but any more and I think you're better off investing in something like an OSSC and a switcher.

I have to see your setup with all those switch boxes. It'd be so entertaining
Finally an adapter that addresses Dolby Digital!
Do you have a video of your living room setup? Curious to see all of your consoles hooked up.
I do not.
@@AdamKoralik Aweeee man... You should do one!!! 😜🙃
Love that you say "figure it oot" lmao. I watch letterkenny all the time.
Love the blue xbox too. For sure looks nice.
Ha, that's actually not me. It's my cousin.
Oof. Very embarrassing for me lmao.
Ha, no. No one ever knows that.
Passed up the monster component cables in the wild (by accident)
But have a Xbox branded set that's not the normal adapter. It has optical ( toslink) out still I'm happy with them for now
Really appreciate the vid as I still want a HDMI option!
We get a great original Xbox HDMI solution at last, it's just a shame they are almost impossible to get. Microsoft give this guy that's keeping your legacy alive some backing and mass produce these cables.... Lol.
3:28 I tried this 480p menu trick but it didn’t work 😕 do you press those buttons before the menu boots?
You have to activate the 480p mode first. Then click in on the thumbsticks and triggers all at once.
@@AdamKoralik nope, still didn’t work.
What about connecting the original xbox to a sound bar?
Can't say I ever tried that.
C'mon Adam! Everyone knows how to hook up the
Nuon in the best way possible! Jeeees!
I agree, I just wasted everyone's time. I apologize.
Good video keep up with the good work I still have my full softmodd ogxbox
A powered HDMI Splitter also acts as a signal booster btw. From console to TV my HDMI length with all my accessories like these is 26ft. Before the Splitter I got a grainy signal that would cut in an out. It fixed it.
Mine do have power supply units, but they don't seem to boost anything.
Is that not what I showed in the video?
@@AdamKoralik No, there's an official Xbox Component Cable that isn't the box, more like the Monster Cables, but they're officially Microsoft Branded.
I just got a original Xbox there was a lot of good games that came out for it I want to start collecting for
Couldn't find an hdmi adapter that gave an interference free image on my Xbox..tried them all. Finally i got my hands on the Kaico adapter and it worked with no interference for me :)
Well, as long as you're happy.
15:45 "they don't make [15-port] HDMI switchboxes"
Somebody needs to make a *64-in 2-out HDMI matrix with HDCP-handshaking/stripping capabilities that are good for up to 16K resolutions* to futureproof setups for gamers and streamers
Sorry to hear that man.
Yes, it's on my list.
I bought the Kaico Dreamcast HDMI cable and found it to be really really good. No experience with their Xbox one though.
I'm glad you're happy with it, but it's not a good one.
By the way I have a whole bunch of xboxes, everything from 1.0s up to 1.6s, people hate on the last xboxes released but their video quality is really solid, suffering much less from the wavy/fuzzy issues that develop as the capacitors go bad on the older models. Also the issues around certain games (e.g panzer dragoon orta) have been patched in the latest softmods.

you should definitely do an original Xbox collection video!!
At 16:00 you say you use hdmi switch boxes how come you don't use a hdmi receiver/av receiver?
No reason to.
Unfortunately it's sold out at the moment. I'd love to get one though.
You can watch my RetroTink 2X-M video for more information. But, short version, I prefer this.
@@AdamKoralik Thanks, appreciate it.
Damn he said the monster component cables are rare and expensive and I ended up getting them when I bought a box that had a ps2 with controller and games and a modded og xbox with two controllers, a dvd player and a bunch of xbox 360 games for 20 bucks
Thanks man
Hey! Adam on ebay there are sellers that take the high quality xbox360 component cable and modify it for the OG xbox. I got one and it work's great.
A company named Monoprice use to carry an 8 port HDMI switch box that I currently use but they seem to not have it listed anymore. I would contact them to see if they still offer it. I've used it since 2013 and it's incredible.
The ones I use are fine, just doesn't have enough ports. 8 would be better, but still would require the same set up.
Wish I could be fast enough to snatch one of those.
@D. that's not the case for this one. It's only one guy making these. It's been a long road to get these made and shipped/delivered to customers
D. You know that the guy making them is on his own, right?
D. This is a niche product tho so I wouldn’t think it’s worth the cost of outsourcing
more coming soon... the preorder is nearly shipped and then Ill have some stock for sale
Aaron Van Tassle are you the one making them?
I love your Red Green duct tape-ass HDMI signal strength fixing.
Signed up for email alerts, but wanted to check since this video is 2 years old.
Should be, you have to remember it's one guy who just works on it when he can.
He’s no longer making them he had a medical emergency
Still waiting for mine to come in going on almost 2 months waiting time just so anyone was wondering I think It's one person making them, I was one of the first to pre order and there was about 400 plus left, so I wouldn't be surprised if it takes 3 months
I have a MakeMhz hdmi coming soon (the one you mentioned). $60 (for pre-order) now it is $80. Hard wired solution, and it should be good. Adam, you gotta give soldering a try, there is so much more you can show if you learn.
I do not trust my hands with that.
@@AdamKoralik I'm waiting for the instructions to be loaded before I order one.
You didn't mention the XOSVP. It's just as good as the official M$ component solutions (there was also a cable).
Could anyone explain to me why when I use my pound cable and enable widescreen all it does it create a squished 16:9 image inside a 4:3 ratio?
Because that feature is really only enabled on 720p compatible games, of which there's only a small percentage of.
@@AdamKoralik appreciate it!
HDMI splitters cause the same problem.
A lot of people suggested HDMI repeaters. But I mean...I literally had spare mClassics laying around.
Interesting. Guess I got lucky.
Big Adam in the house. Im hearing there maybe a dreamcast mini on the horizon mate. Imagine that
I think I have the 1.0 version the date on the on the sticker on the bottom of the console is 2001-11-17.
Emīls Garjānis Kaico and Bitfunx share the same manufacturing line, which explains why their products are identical
I'm confused, everyone shows a pound cable with a port whereas mine is an enclosed setup, Xbox port side and HDMI side.
You have the early version.
@@AdamKoralik is it "better or worse" than this one? Doesn't matter to me as it doesn't he trick but curious if they made it better or cheaped out
@@truegregthompson Worse, the redesign was needed because the Xbox AV port didn't provide enough power and causes visual noise.
Maybe one of yours has an HDMI repeater in it?
@@AdamKoralik They are both powered so that could be it.
EXCUSE ME, BUT I HAVE MY XBOX CONNECTED TO A CRT AND THE COMPONENT INPUTS ARE TAKEN BY THE WII. I need S-video.
Um, okay, you do that then.
@@AdamKoralik I didn’t actually expect you to reply... >_>
Surprise.
Here is my recommendation: Official Xbox Component box/cables going to OSSC upscales x5 out into Mclassic and into an OLED Tv. looks amazing!!!
You should look into the hauppauge rocket. It has native component input and hdmi output. I've never seen anyone talk about whether it degrades image quality at all since its a budget capture card. But I'd be interested to see if as a secondary use it's a decent component to hdmi converter.
woah never realized you switched to 4k video.
Great results and great video! Component is not digital FYI, it's analogue.
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_component_video
@@AdamKoralik sorry i should have clarified, the Xbox component output is analogue
Glad I found this. Thx.
